  I received a recommendation from my hosting provider noting that a general rule in production server management is to ensure that the memory on your database server is larger than the size of your total database. Our database is 1800mb (and growing) and we're being told to purchase a 2GB server. This didn't sit right with me, but I'm not an expert in production server management. We're running a MySQL db with mostly InnoDB tables and some MyISAMs. Thanks!

  I am using the Postfix MTA with a virtual configuration from MySQL for the Users and Forwardings. Now I want some Adresses (that are dynamicaly generated, for writing via E-Mail to a Forum) to be forwarded to a php-script. I already have tried to put the script quoted and piped as destination bit it doesn't work. "|php -q /path/to/script.php" But if I send a mail to that domain it says: User “|php -q /path/to/script.php"@mydomain.tld not found

  i have some problem i had skpe on my laptop and unfortunately skype used 80 port for network and wamp server 2.0 Apache Version : 2.2.10 PHP Version : 5.2.7 i changed the port of wamp server through Listen 12.34.56.78:80 Listen 80 Listen 12.34.56.78:80 Listen 8080 and i able to do somehow but i can't access the phpmyadmin please help me i hope i can get my solution from all of you soon my errors seems this i have mentioned downstairs below phpMyAdmin tried to connect to the MySQL server, and the server rejected the connection. You should check the host, username and password in your configuration and make sure that they correspond to the information given by the administrator of the MySQL server.

  I want to know how I can schedule a dynamic(auto populated data) function to auto run everyday at saved time? Let's say I have a form that once the button is clicked it sends the data to the function, which the posts the data. • Java.lang.NullPointerException when using retreived Image (Unless method is used statically!)

  Hi there, This has been doing my head in all day and I have finally decided to resort to asking for help! In my MIDLet I have an instance of the java class ImageFetcher called anImg. Also within my MIDLet I have a command that simply say's fetch, a CommandListener that when detects fetch was clicked runs the function below. This function should simply run public getImage() from the anImg instance of class ImageFetcher which returns an image and then appends/sets this Image onto the form on the display. (You may recognise the getImage() function from the Nokia JavaME Wiki!!!) Instead of any image being displayed this is written to the output terminal in netbeans: Msg: Java.lang.NullPointerException HOWEVER, If I change public getImage() to public static getImage() and replace anImg.getImage() with ImageFetcher.getImage() the image is successfully displayed!!! • Strange enduser experience with Liferay, Glassfish and Apache on RedHat

  Tried multiple forums to get to the bottom of this. I hope I can get some direction here: Here is the stack I am working with: Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.6 (Tikanga) Liferay 6.0.6 on Glassfish 3.0.1 MySQL 5.0.77 Apache 2.2.3 The Liferay portal provides a variety of portlets to end users. Static content (web pages), static resources (primarily pdf and mp3 files 1mb - 80mb in size), File upload and download capabilities (primarily 40-60mb mp3 files) and online streaming of those MP3 files. Here is the strange end user experiences: Under normal load: (20-30) users uploading, downloading or streaming files and 20-30 accessing static content (some of it downloads), we see the following: 1) Clicking a link triggers the download of a portion of an MP3 (the portion is a few seconds long). 2) Clicking on a link tiggers the download of the page content rather than rendering. 3) Clicking a link causes the page to dump binary data to the end user rather than the expected content. 4) Clicking a link returns the text of a javascript file rather than rendering the page. Each occurrence is totally random (or appears so). Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It seems to have no relation to browser or client OS. The strange events seem to occur much more frequently when using an SSL connection rather than regular http. Apache serves as a proxy server only (reverse). It basically passes all the requests through to Glassfish. There isn't any static content proxy served by Apache. We rebuilt the entire stack from scratch and redeployed the portlet wars and still have the same issues. Liferay is running as a single server (not clustered). We disabled mod_cache in Apache. The problems are more frequent as the server load grows. This morning the load is pretty light and we are seeing few problems but the use of the site will grow, particularly tonight around 9pm CST through Wednesday morning. You could try the site (http://preview.bsfinternational.org) during those times and I would expect that you might experience one of the weirdnesses as you randomly click links on the site (https is invoked only when signed in). Again, https seems to exacerbate the issue. This seems very much like a caching issue but I don't know where in the stack to start peeling the onion. Apache? Liferay? Glassfish? MySQL? Maybe even Redhat? We are stumped and most forums we have posted to (LifeRay and Glassfish) have returned very few suggestions. I just need an idea of where to start looking. I understand that we could have a portlet EDIT: Opening the files in a Hex editor that appear to be pages that download rather than render, we see that the first 4000 characters are "junk" and then the "HTTP/1.1 ...." 'normal' header is seen. So something is dumping a jumble of characters up to offset 4000 (when viewing it in a Hex editor). Perhaps a clue? Ideas?

• Can't sync filesystem without reboot

  I'm having an issue with a linux server. Once a week the running mysql instance hangs and there is no way to fully stop it. If I kill it, it remains in zombie status and init does not reap its pid. The server is used for staging deployments and some internal tools, so it's not under heavy load. The only process constantly used id mysql and for this I think that it's the only process which suffer of this issue. I've tracked reboots script and I've found out that also the reboot process hangs on a sync call, this one in /etc/init.d/sendsigs (I'm on ubuntu) # Flush the kernel I/O buffer before we start to kill # processes, to make sure the IO of already stopped services to # not slow down the remaining processes to a point where they # are accidentily killed with SIGKILL because they did not # manage to shut down in time. sync I'm almost sure that the cause of this is an hardware issue (the RAID controller???) also because I've other two machines with the same hardware and software configuration and they don't suffer of this, but I can't find any hint in syslog or dmesg. I've also installed smartmontools and mcelog packages but none of them did report any issue. What can I do to track the cause of this issue? • Importing wikipedia database dumb - kills navicat - anyone got any ideas?

  Ok guys I've downloaded the wikipedia xml dump and its a whopping 12 GB of data :\ for one table and I wanted to import it into mysql databse on my localhost - however its a humongous file 12GB and obviously navicats taking its sweet time in importing it or its more likely its hanged :(. Is there a way to include this dump or atleast partially at most you know bit by bit. Let me correct that its 21 GB of data - not that it helps :\ - does any one have any idea of importing humongous files like this into MySQL database.

  Hello, I am using a PHP/MySQL login script that sends a new user an activation email. When a new user registers, the info is put into MySQL pretty much instantly, but then it takes about 4 minutes for the activation email to arrive in the new user's inbox. It seems like sites like Facebook and Twitter can get out an activation email instantly when a new user registers. Is there anything that I could do to make the activation email that I'm using arrive instantly or really fast? Thanks in advance, John
