• x86 .net application with system.OutOfMemoryException

  Hi,Guys I got OutOfMemoryException after the app running for 1 day, the app totally use 1.5G memory , all consumed by managed heap, gen 2 used 200mb , and LOB used 1.3mb, however the weired thing is, 900mb of space are Free. from perf counter I saw there had number of gen 2 gc collection happened, why GC collector cannot collect those 900mb free space in gen2 and LOB? • Best way to split a string by word (SQL Batch separator)

  Hi, I have a dataset that has two datatables. In the first datatable I have EmpNo,EmpName and EmpAddress In the second datatable I have Empno,EmpJoindate, EmpSalary. I want a result where I should show EmpName as the label and his/her details in the gridview I populate a datalist with the first table, and have EmpNo as the datakeys. Then I populate the gridview inside the datatable which has EmpNo,EmpJoinDate and EmpAddress. My code is some what as below Datalist1.DataSource = dt; Datalist1.DataBind(); for (int i = 0; i < Datalist1.Items.Count; i++) { int EmpNo = Convert.ToInt32(Datalist1.DataKeys[i]); GridView gv = (GridView)Datalist1.FindControl("gv"); gv.DataSource = dt2; gv.DataBind(); } Now I have a problem, I have to bind the Details of the corresponding Employee to the gridview. Whereas the above code will display all the details of all employees in the gridview. If we use IEnumerable we give a condition where(a=a.eno=EmpNo), and bind that list to the gridview. How do I do this in datatable. kindly do not give me suggestions of altering the stored procedure which results the values in two tables, because that cannot be altered. • Why isn't this simple PHP/MySQL code working?

  I am very new to php/mysql and this is causing me to loose hairs, I am trying to build a multi level site navigation. But the second part does not work and I can't understand why. I am trying to match a category with a parent that is stored in it's own table, but it returns nothing even though the categories all have parents. Can anyone tell me why this is? p.s. The $categories variable contains the sub category id.

• LINQ to XML contents of child records.

  I have this LINQ to XML enquiry... var Records = from Item in XDoc.Root.Elements("Item") where (string)Item.Element("ItemNumber") == item.ID.ToString select Item; ... where ItemNumber is a reference number used in the XML, (originally written by this program but manually edited by "others"), and item.ID is the database version of the same thing. The query executes, and I can test for the number of entries in the result fine... if (Records.Count() < 1) ... you get the idea. I have established that there is only one record. Each Item has several child fields. I want to test the values of the child fields are reasonable before passing them on to the database update sub-system. The XML is produced by the program, but edited by users, so I need to really check what is coming back. So I tried... if (DB_English.ToString() != Records.Elements("English").ToString()) ... DB_English is from the database, but the XML in Records, does not contain the contents of that field, it contains... System.Xml.Linq.Extensions+<GetElements>d__29`1[System.Xml.Linq.XElement] ... so, how do I get the value of this element in the XML file? I need to check the field in the XML has not been altered, (the manual editors of this data file are not potentially 100% reliable).

• Dumping an ADODB recordset to XML, then back to a recordset, then saving to the db

  I've created an XML file using the .Save() method of an ADODB recordset in the following manner. dim res dim objXML: Set objXML = Server.CreateObject("MSXML2.DOMDocument") 'This returns an ADODB recordset set res = ExecuteReader("SELECT * from some_table) With res Call .Save(objXML, 1) Call .Close() End With Set res = nothing Let's assume that the XML generated above then gets saved to a file. I'm able to read the XML back into a recordset like this: dim res : set res = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.recordset") res.open server.mappath("/admin/tbl_some_table.xml") And I can loop over the records without any problem. However what I really want to do is save all of the data in res to a table in a completely different database. We can assume that some_table already exists in this other database and has the exact same structure as the table I originally queried to make the XML. • Double Click and Resize on an Ipad

  Thanks to the great post at OranLooney.com I was able to get a java/icefaces web-app to resize nicely on the ipad, however the code provided for double click doesn't seem to work without further customization. • SQLiteDataAdapter Update method returning 0

  I loaded 83 rows from my CSV file, but when I try to update the SQLite database I get 0 rows... I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. • Strings exported from a module have changed line breaks

  In a DrScheme project, I'm using a MrEd editor-canvas% with text% and inserting a string from a literal in a Scheme file. This results in an extra blank line in the editor for each line of text I'm trying to insert. I've tracked this down to the apparent fact that string literals from outside modules are getting extra line breaks. Here's a full example. The editor is irrelevant at this point, but it displays the result. ; test-literals.ss (module test-literals scheme (provide (all-defined-out)) (define exported-string "From another module with some more line breaks. I've traced in and figured out that it's changing Unix line breaks to Windows line breaks when strings are imported from another module, but these display as double line breaks. Why is this happening and is there a way to stop it other than changing every imported string?

• Using MongoDB's map/reduce to "group by" two fields

  I need something slightly more complex than the examples in the MongoDB docs and I can't seem to be able to wrap my head around it. Say I have a collection of objects of the form {date: "2010-10-10", type: "EVENT_TYPE_1", user_id: 123, ...} Now I want to get something similar to a SQL GROUP BY query, grouping over both date and type. That is, I want the number of events of each type in each day. Also, I'd like to make it unique by user_id, ie. if a user has more events in the same day, count it only once. I'm trying to do this with map/reduce. I do db.logs.mapReduce(function() { emit(this.type, 1); }, function(k, vals) { var total = 0; for (var i = 0; i < vals.length; i++) total += vals[i]; return total; }}) which nicely groups by type, but now, how can I group by date at the same time? Seems the key in emit() can't be an array (I thought about doing emit([this.date, this.type], 1)). Also, how can I ensure the per-user uniqueness? I'm just starting with MongoDB and I'm still having trouble grasping the basic concepts. Also, there is not much documentation available out there. Any help from more experienced users is appreciated. Thanks!

• Unit testing opaque structure based C API

  I have a library I wrote with API based on opaque structures. Using opaque structures has a lot of benefits and I am very happy with it. Now that my API are stable in term of specifications, I'd like to write a complete battery of unit test to ensure a solid base before releasing it. My concern is simple, how do you unit test API based on opaque structures where the main goal is to hide the internal logic? For example, let's take a very simple object, an array with a very simple test: WSArray a = WSArrayCreate(); int foo = 5; WSArrayAppendValue(a, &foo); int *bar = WSArrayGetValueAtIndex(a, 0); if(&foo != bar) printf("Eroneous value returned\n"); else printf("Good value returned\n"); WSRelease(a); Of course, this tests some facts, like the array actually acts as wanted with 1 value, but when I write unit tests, at least in C, I usualy compare the memory footprint of my datastructures with a known state. In my example, I don't know if some internal state of the array is broken. How would you handle that? I'd really like to avoid adding codes in the implementation files only for unit testings, I really emphasis loose coupling of modules, and injecting unit tests into the implementation would seem rather invasive to me. My first thought was to include the implementation file into my unit test, linking my unit test statically to my library. For example: #include <WS/WS.h> #include <WS/Collection/Array.c> static void TestArray(void) { WSArray a = WSArrayCreate(); /* Structure members are available because we included Array.c */ printf("%d\n", a->count); } Is that a good idea? Of course, the unit tests won't benefit from encapsulation, but they are here to ensure it's actually working.

• Sql query - selecting top 5 rows and further selecting rows only if User is present

  Hello, I kind of stuck on how to implement this query - this is pretty similar to the query I posted earlier but I'm not able to crack it. I have a shopping table where everytime a user buys anything, a record is inserted. Some of the fields are * shopping_id (primary key) * store_id * user_id Now what I need is to pull only the list of those stores where he's among the top 5 visitors: When I break it down - this is what I want to accomplish: * Find all stores where this UserA has visited * For each of these stores - see who the top 5 visitors are. * Select the store only if UserA is among the top 5 visitors. The corresponding queries would be: select store_id from shopping where user_id = xxx select user_id,count(*) as 'visits' from shopping where store_id in (select store_id from shopping where user_id = xxx) group by user_id order by visits desc limit 5 Now I need to check in this resultset if UserA is present and select that store only if he's present. For example if he has visited a store 5 times - but if there are 5 or more people who have visited that store more than 5 times - then that store should not be selected. So I'm kind of lost here. • Foreach loop returning null values in PHP?

  Hello, I have a pretty simple problem. Basically I have an array called $list that is a list of titles. If I do a print_r($list) I get these results: Array ( [0] => Another New Title [1] => Awesome Movies and stuff [2] => Jascha's Title ) Now, I'm running a foreach loop to retrieve their values and format them in an <ul> like so... function get_film_list(){ global $categories; $list = $categories->get_film_list(); if(count($list)==0){ echo 'No films are in this category'; }else{ echo '<ul>'; foreach($list as $title){ echo '<li>' . $title . '<li>'; } echo '</ul>'; } } The problem I'm having is my loop is returning two values per value (is it the key value?) The result of the preceding function looks like this: Another New Title   Awesome Movies and stuff   Jascha's Title   I even tried: foreach($list as $key => $title){ echo '<li>' . $title .   I am trying to find a way to export data from my database and save it as a .csv file. Ideally the user will be able to select a date range on a view, which will display the data to be exported, then the user can click an "export to CSV" link. • ajax to php to curl and back..

  I am trying to make an ajax call to a php script. The php script calls an rss feed using curl, gets the data, and returns the data to the funciton. I keep getting an error "Warning: Wrong parameter count for curl_error() in" .... Here is my php code:1 $ch = curl_init() or die(curl_error()); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, $feed); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, 1); $data1 = curl_exec($ch) or die(curl_error()); echo $data1; and the ajax call: $.ajax({ url: "getSingleFeed.php", type: "POST", data: "feedURL=" + window.feedURL, success: function(feed){ alert(feed); }}); I tested all the variables, they are being passed correctly, I can echo them out. But this line: $data1 = curl_exec($ch) or die(curl_error()); is what is giving me the error. I am doing the same thing with curl on other pages, just without ajax, and it is working fine. Is there anything special I need to do with ajax to do this?

• oracle query with inconsistent results

  Im having a very strange problem, i have a complicated view that returns incorrect data when i query on a particular column. heres an example: select empname, has_garnishment from timecard_v2 where empname = 'Testerson, Testy'; this returns the single result 'Testerson, Testy', 'N' however, if i use the query: select empname, has_garnishment from timecard_v2 where empname = 'Testerson, Testy' and has_garnishment = 'Y'; this returns the single result 'Testerson, Testy', 'Y' The second query should return a subset of the first query, but it returns a different answer. I have dissected the view and determined that this section of the view definition is where the problem arises(Note, I removed all of the select clause except the parts of interests for clarity, in the full query all joined tables are required): SELECT e.fullname empname , NVL2(ded.has_garn, 'Y', 'N') has_garnishment FROM timecard tc , orderdetail od , orderassign oa , employee e , employee3 e3 , customer10 c10 , order_misc om, (SELECT COUNT(*) has_garn, v_ssn FROM deductions WHERE yymmdd_stop = 0 OR (LENGTH(yymmdd_stop) = 7 AND to_date(SUBSTR(yymmdd_stop, 2), 'YYMMDD') sysdate) GROUP BY v_ssn ) ded WHERE oa.lrn(+) = tc.lrn_order AND om.lrn(+) = od.lrn AND od.orderno = oa.orderno AND e.ssn = tc.ssn AND c10.custno = tc.custno AND e.lrn = e3.lrn AND e.ssn = ded.v_ssn(+) One thing of note about the definition of the 'ded' subquery. The v_ssn field is a virtual field on the deductions table. I am not a DBA im a software developer but we recently lost our DBA and the new one is still getting up to speed so im trying to debug this issue. That being said, please explain things a little more thoroughly then you would for a fellow oracle expert. thanks

• Powershell - Splitting string into seperate components

  I am writing a script which will basically do the following: Read from a text file some arguements: DriveLetter ThreeLetterCode ServerName VolumeLetter Integer Eg. W MSS SERVER01 C 1 These values happen to form a folder destination W:\MSS\, and a filename which works in the following naming convention: SERVERNAME_VOLUMELETTER_VOL-b00X-iYYY.spi - Where The X is the Integer above The value Y I need to work out later, as this happens to be the value of the incremental image (backups) and I need to work out the latest incremental. So at the moment -- Count lines in file, and loop for this many lines. $lines = Get-Content -Path PostBackupCheck-Textfile.txt | Measure-Object -Line for ($i=0; $i -le $lines.Lines; $i++) Within this loop I need to do a Get-Content to read off the line I am currently looking at i.e. line 0, line 1, line 2, as there will be multiple lines in the format I wrote at the beginning and split the line into an array, whereby each part of the file, as seen above naming convention, is in a[0], a[1], a[2]. etc The reason for this is because, I need to then sort the folder that contains these, find the latest file, by date, and take the _iXXX.spi part and place this into the array value a[X] so I then have a complete filename to mount. This value will replace iYYY.spi It's a little complex because I also have to make sure when I do a Get-ChildItem with -Include before I sort it all by date, I am only including the filename that matches the arguements fed to it from the text file : So, SERVER01_C_VOL-b001-iYYY.spi and not anything else. i.e. not SERVER01_D_VOL-b001-iYYY.spi Then take the iYYY value from the sort on the Get-ChildItem -Include and place that into the appropriate array item. I've literally no idea where to start, so any ideas are appreciated! Hopefully I've explained in enough detail. I have also placed the code on Pastebin: http://pastebin.com/vtFifTW6 Thanks!

• Existing LINQ extension method similar to Parallel.For?

  The linq extension methods for ienumerable are very handy ... but not that useful if all you want to do is apply some computation to each item in the enumeration without returning anything. So I was wondering if perhaps I was just missing the right method, or if it truly doesn't exist as I'd rather use a built-in version if it's available ... but I haven't found one :-) I could have sworn there was a .ForEach method somewhere, but I have yet to find it.
