  • How do I tell ReSharper that an attribute means that a method is used?

    - by Roger Lipscombe
I'm playing with SpecFlow, and ReSharper thinks that my step definitions are unused (I guess because they're used via reflection): [Binding] public class StepDefinitions { // ... [When(@"I press add")] public void WhenIPressAdd() // R# thinks this is unused { _calculator.PressAdd(); } // ... } How can I tell ReSharper that methods with [Given], [When], [Then] attributes (etc.) are actually used? I don't want to use // ReSharper disable UnusedMember.Global comments.

  • Method for defining simultaneous has-many and has-one associations between two models in CakePHP?

    - by Hobonium
One thing with which I have long had problems, within the CakePHP framework, is defining simultaneous hasOne and hasMany relationships between two models. For example: BlogEntry hasMany Comment BlogEntry hasOne MostRecentComment (where MostRecentComment is the Comment with the most recent created field) Defining these relationships in the BlogEntry model properties is problematic. CakePHP's ORM implements a has-one relationship as an INNER JOIN, so as soon as there is more than one Comment, BlogEntry::find('all') calls return multiple results per BlogEntry. I've worked around these situations in the past in a few ways: Using a model callback (or, sometimes, even in the controller or view!), I've simulated a MostRecentComment with: $this->data['MostRecentComment'] = $this->data['Comment'][0]; This gets ugly fast if, say, I need to order the Comments any way other than by Comment.created. It also doesn't Cake's in-built pagination features to sort by MostRecentComment fields (e.g. sort BlogEntry results reverse-chronologically by MostRecentComment.created. Maintaining an additional foreign key, BlogEntry.most_recent_comment_id. This is annoying to maintain, and breaks Cake's ORM: the implication is BlogEntry belongsTo MostRecentComment. It works, but just looks...wrong. These solutions left much to be desired, so I sat down with this problem the other day, and worked on a better solution. I've posted my eventual solution below, but I'd be thrilled (and maybe just a little mortified) to discover there is some mind-blowingly simple solution that has escaped me this whole time. Or any other solution that meets my criteria: it must be able to sort by MostRecentComment fields at the Model::find level (ie. not just a massage of the results); it shouldn't require additional fields in the comments or blog_entries tables; it should respect the 'spirit' of the CakePHP ORM. (I'm also not sure the title of this question is as concise/informative as it could be.)

  • Web framework with JasperReports integration?

    - by Dave Jarvis
What web development frameworks natively support JasperReports? Consider the following form as an example: <form name="report" method="post"> <input type="hidden" name="REPORT_PATH" value="reports/Names" /> <input type="hidden" name="REPORT_FILE" value="List" /> <input type="hidden" name="REPORT_FORMAT" value="pdf" /> <input type="hidden" name="REPORT_EMBED" value="false" /> Name: <input type="text" name="report_Name" value="" /><br /> Date: <input type="text" name="report_Date" value="" /><br /> <input type="submit" name="View" value="View" /> </form> The framework would pass the report_ parameters to JasperReports, which in turn runs reports/Names/List.jasper, and then sends a PDF attachment to the browser. In general: Ability to configure report (i.e., the hidden REPORT_ variables) Web FORM for setting report parameters (i.e., the report_ variables) Framework handles configuring database connection, report execution, etc. I don't care about the technical minutia on how the integration works. The example above is just one possibility of many.

  • What is the method of choice to adjust CSS changes in vaadin?

    - by Karussell
I am struggling with some minor layout changes in vaadin which has to be done on Java AND Css side. Everytime I need to adjust a layout thing like padding-top, background color or bold text of one component I need to set the style via Java code too: userLink.setStyleName("textbold"); The changes in my styles.css (under VAADIN/themes/app/) would then be: @import "../runo/styles.css"; .textbold { font-weight: bold; } ... Is this the correct way of changing the CSS or is there another way? Can I do this without affecting the Java code?

  • What signing method to use for public open-source projects?

    - by Irchi
I'm publishing an open-source library on CodePlex, and want the dll files to have strong names so that they can be added to GAC. What's the best option for signing? Should I use SNK? If so, everyone have access to the key. I don't have a problem with everyone having access, but is it a good approach? Should I use PFX? If so, does it mean that other people downloading the source code are not able to build the solution? What I like to do is that I am the only one person to have access to the key, so that the signed assemblies also have a level of authenticity, but meanwhile don't prevent other developers to download, build, or change the source code for themselves, and be able to post changes for the main project.

  • Submit button not focused even though tabindex is properly set

    - by Nicsoft
    Hello, I have defined tabindex for the input fields in a form. When tabbing through the input fields the submit button is never getting the focus, some other input fields in a different form on the page gets the focus. Those are all having tabindexes higher than 3. How come? <form action="subscription.php" name="subscribe" method="post" onsubmit="return isValidEmailAndEqual()"> <p id="formlabel">E-mail</p> <input type="text" name="email1" tabindex=1> <br/> <p id="formlabel">Repeat e-mail</p> <input type="text" name="email2" tabindex=2> <br/> <input id="inputsubmit" type="submit" value="Subscribe" tabindex=3> </form> .css: input { background-color : #333; border: 1px solid #EEE; color: #EEE; margin-bottom: 6px; margin-top: 4px; padding: 1px; width : 200px; } #inputsubmit { background-color : #d7e6f1; border: 1px solid #EEE; color: #0000ff; margin-bottom: 6px; margin-top: 4px; padding: 1px; width : 200px; } #inputsubmit:hover { cursor: pointer; cursor: hand; background-color : #d7e6f1; border: 1px solid #0000ff; color: #0000ff; margin-bottom: 6px; margin-top: 4px; padding: 1px; width : 200px; } p#formlabel{ width: 100; } Thanks in advance!

  • Why does this explicit call of a Scala method allow it to be implicitly resolved?

    - by Matt R
    Why does this code fail to compile, but compiles successfully when I uncomment the indicated line? (I'm using Scala 2.8 nightly). It seems that explicitly calling string2Wrapper allows it to be used implicitly from that point on. class A { import Implicits.string2Wrapper def foo() { //string2Wrapper("A") ==> "B" // <-- uncomment } def bar() { "A" ==> "B" "B" ==> "C" "C" ==> "D" } object Implicits { implicit def string2Wrapper(s: String) = new Wrapper(s) class Wrapper(s: String) { def ==>(s2: String) {} } } }

  • Please explain this Rails method to me like I'm a little kid.

    - by Senthil
I found this in Ryan Bates' railscast site, but not sure how it works. #models/comment.rb def req=(request) self.user_ip = request.remote_ip self.user_agent = request.env['HTTP_USER_AGENT'] self.referrer = request.env['HTTP_REFERER'] end #blogs_controller.rb def create @blog = Blog.new(params[:blog]) @blog.req = request if @blog.save ... I see he is saving the user ip, user agent and referrer, but am confused with the req=(request) line. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

  • Counting down to zero in contrast to counting up to length - 1

    - by Helper Method
Is it recommended to count in small loops (where possible) down from length - 1 to zero instead of counting up to length - 1? 1.) Counting down for (int i = a.length - 1; i >= 0; i--) { if (a[i] == key) return i; } 2.) Counting up for (int i = 0; i < a.length; i++) { if (a[i] == key) return i; } The first one is slightly faster that the second one (because comparing to zero is faster) but is a little more error-prone in my opinion. Besides, the first one could maybe not be optimized by future improvements of the JVM. Any ideas on that?

  • Is CakePhp 'standards compliant' when generating HTML, Forms, etc?

    - by dtj
So I've been reading a lot of "Designing with Web Standards" and really enjoying it. I'm a big CakePhp user, and as I look at the source for various form elements that Cake creates with its FormHelper, I see all sorts of extraneous In the book, he promotes semantic HTML, and writing your markup as simple / generic as possible. So my question is, am I better writing my own HTML in these situations? I really want to work in compliance with XHTML and CSS standards, and it seems I'd spend just as much time (if not more) cleaning up Cakes HTML, when I could just write my own thoughts? p.s. Here's an example in an out of the box form that CakePhp generates using the FormHelper <form id="CompanyAddForm" method="post" action="/omni_cake/companies/add" accept-charset="utf-8"><div style="display:none;"><input type="hidden" name="_method" value="POST" /></div> <div class="input text required"><label for="CompanyName">Name</label><input name="data[Company][name]" type="text" maxlength="50" id="CompanyName" /></div> <div class="input text required"><label for="CompanyWebsite">Website</label><input name="data[Company][website]" type="text" maxlength="50" id="CompanyWebsite" /></div> <div class="input textarea"><label for="CompanyNotes">Notes</label><textarea name="data[Company][notes]" cols="30" rows="6" id="CompanyNotes" ></textarea></div> <div class="submit"><input type="submit" value="Submit" /></div></form>

  • What's the purpose of GC.SuppressFinalize(this) in Dispose() method?

    - by mr.b
I have code that looks like this: /// <summary> /// Dispose of the instance /// </summary> public void Dispose() { if (_instance != null) { _instance = null; // Call GC.SupressFinalize to take this object off the finalization // queue and prevent finalization code for this object from // executing a second time. GC.SuppressFinalize(this); } } Although there is a comment that explains purpose of that GC-related call, I still don't understand why it's there. Isn't object destined for garbage collection once all instances cease from existence (like, when used in using() block)? What's the use case scenario where this would play important role? Thanks!

  • What most efficient method to find a that triangle which contains the given point?

    - by Christo
Given the triangle with vertices (a,b,c): c / \ / \ / \ a - - - b Which is then subdivided into four triangles by halving each of the edges: c / \ / \ ca / \ bc /\ - - - /\ / \ / \ / \ / \ a- - - - ab - - - -b Wich results in four triangles (a, ab, ca), (b, bc, ab), (c, ca, bc), (ab, bc, ca). Now given a point p. How do I determine in which triangle p lies, given that p is within the outer triangle (a, b, c)? Currently I intend to use ab as the origin. Check whether it is to the left of right of the line "ca - ab" using the perp of "ca - ab" and checking the sign against the dot product of "ab - a" and the perp vector and the vector "p - ab". If it is the same or the dot product is zero then it must be in (a, ab, ca)... Continue with this procedure with the other outer triangles (b, ba, ab) & (c, ca, ba). In the end if it didn't match with these it must be contained within the inner triangle (ab, bc, ca). Is there a better way to do it?

  • Effective Method to Manage and Search Through 100,000+ Objects Instantly? (C#)

    - by Kirk
I'm writing a media player for enthusiasts with large collections (over 100,000 tracks) and one of my main goals is speed in search. I would like to allow the user to perform a Google-esque search of their entire music collection based on these factors: Song Path and File Name Items in ID3 Tag (Title, Artist, Album, etc.) Lyrics What is the best way for me to store this data and search through it? Currently I am storing each track in an object and iterating over an array of these objects checking each of their variables for string matches based on given search text. I've run into problems though where my search is not effective because it is always a phrase search and I'm not sure how to make it more fuzzy. Would an internal DB like SQLlite be faster than this? Any ideas on how I should structure this system? I also need playlist persistence, so that when they close the app and open the app their same playlist loads immediately. How should I store the playlist information so it can load quickly when the application starts? Currently I am JSON encoding the entire playlist, storing it in a text file, and reading it into the ListView at runtime, but it is getting sluggish over 20,000 tracks. Thanks!

  • How can I dynamically override a classes "each" method?

How can I dynamically override each() in Groovy?

  • Need .Net method to compute a Google Pagerank request checksum.

    - by Steve K
The company I work for is currently developing a SEO tool which needs to include a domain or url Pagerank. It is possible to retrieve such data directly from Google by sending a request to the url called by the Google ToolBar. On of the parameters send to that url is a checksum of the domain whose pagerank is being requested. I have found multiple .Net methods for calculating that check sum; however, every one randomly returns corrupt values every so often. I can only handle errors to a certain point before my final data set becomes useless. I know that there are countless tools out there, from browser plugins to desktop applications, that can process page rank, so it can't be impossible. My question, then, is two fold: 1) Any anyone heard of the problem I am having? (specifically in .Net) If so, how can it (or has it) be resolved? 2) Is there a better source for retrieving Pagerank data? Below is the Url and checksum code I have been using. "http://toolbarqueries.google.com/search?client=navclient-auto&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&features=Rank:&q=info:" & strUrl & "ch=" & strCheckSum where: strUrl = the url being queried strCheckSum = CheckHash(GetHash(url)) (see code below) Any help would be greatly appreciated. • JavaScript method to write to Microsoft Visual Web Developer Debugger?

    - by Josh
I generally test my web apps with Firefox and use Firebug. I love Firebug. But when I'm testing JavaScript code in IE I use the debugger in Microsoft's Visual Web Developer 2008 Express Edition. I would love to have an equivalent to Firebug's console.log methods which would allow me to log messages to Visual Web Developer. Any way to log messages to the error list/messages list/output pane using JavaScript?

  • Is there anything wrong with my Factory class?

    - by Alex
class PieceFactory { @SuppressWarnings("rawtypes") public Piece createPiece(String pieceType) throws Throwable{ Class pieceClass = Class.forName(pieceType); Piece piece = (Piece) pieceClass.newInstance(); return piece; } } I'm not all used to handling exceptions yet therefore I'm just throwing them, but everywhere I use a method that uses this factory it tells me I have to throw exceptions like throwable. For example, in one of my classes I have a method that instantiates a lot of objects using the method that uses the factory. I can use the method in that class by just throwing the exception, however it won't work if I try to pass a reference to that class to another class and then use the method from there. Then it forces me to try catch the exception. I probably don't need a factory but it seemed interesting and I'd like to try to use patterns. The reason I created the factory was that I have 6 subclasses of Piece and I wan't to use a method to instantiate them by passing the type of subclass I want as an argument to the method.

  • Why "Finalize method should not reference any other objects" ?

    - by mishal153
I have been pondering why it is recommended that we should not release managed resources inside finalize. If you see the code example at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.gc.suppressfinalize.aspx , and search for string "Dispose(bool disposing) executes in two distinct scenarios" and read that comment, you will understand what I mean. Only possibility I can think of is that it probably has something to do with the fact that it is not possible to predict when finalizer will get called. Does anyone know the right answer ? thanks, mishal

  • array_splice() - Numerical Offsets of Associative Arrays

    - by Alix Axel
I'm trying to do something but I can't find any solution, I'm also having some trouble putting it into works so here is a sample code, maybe it'll be enough to demonstrate what I'm aiming for: $input = array ( 'who' => 'me', 'what' => 'car', 'more' => 'car', 'when' => 'today', ); Now, I want to use array_splice() to remove (and return) one element from the array: $spliced = key(array_splice($input, 2, 1)); // I'm only interested in the key... The above will remove and return 1 element (third argument) from $input (first argument), at offset 2 (second argument), so $spliced will hold the value more. I'll be iterating over $input with a foreach loop, I know the key to be spliced but the problem is I don't know its numerical offset and since array_splice only accepts integers I don't know what to do. A very dull example: $result = array(); foreach ($input as $key => $value) { if ($key == 'more') { // Remove the index "more" from $input and add it to $result. $result[] = key(array_splice($input, 2 /* How do I know its 2? */, 1)); } } I first though of using array_search() but it's pointless since it'll return the associative index.... How do I determine the numerical offset of a associative index?
