    Let say i have a source directory which contains The contents /foo/a /foo/b(These are the files in a directory on a remote system) using rdiff command i make a backup as rdiff-backup [email protected]::/foo backups And a,b are now present in my backups directory.And then i delete file a from the remote system and again i do a sync so my local directory has the file b only. My question is that how do i restore file a if the deletion and sync is done on the same day Thanks..

  • Outlook 2010 keeps losing the search index for emails

    Hoping someone can help here, this is driving me insane. Outlook 2010 keeps losing the search index so when I search for an email it has the yellow bar saying: search results may be incomplete because items are still being indexed Clicking on the bar says eg: 49200 items remaining to be indexed If it makes any difference, this is an IMAP account. If I leave Outlook open all day it will eventually index everything. But then say a week/month later it happens all again.

    hi, I am building a PC to act as a file server among other things, and I was wondering whether it is a good idea to create 2 partitions on the RAID 5 array, one for OS one for data, or to have a separate disk for OS and use array for data. Also, one day i may want to add another disk to the array, so would there be any issues if I had the OS partition on the RAID5 array when it came to resizing the data partition?

    We've ordered a 50 euro/month server on hetzner.de, it has debian OS. The problem is that server is freezing in random time of the day and nothing appears in log. Only hardware reboot helps. No. theres no way to look in server's console right after when it freezes, sadly. Datacenter supporters do not really want to help about that. Server has been installed 30th july, times and dates of freezes are down there: 6 august, 0:25 18 august, 2:27 21 august, 1:25 26 august, 23:26. We decided that freezing around ??:25 isn't a hardware fault, and decided to reinstall the OS. Later, 31 august, our admin backed up all files, reinstalled Debian, and restored the backup. But then, 7 september, server went down again, at 5:05. We thought it was related to Anyone else experiencing high rates of Linux server crashes during a leap second day? and turned ntp off. But then the server went down twice again, 21 september, 17:29 and 24 september, 20:27. I called all linux admins I knew to help with solving it and they said everything is fine about configuring OS and it could be hardware only. But they dont know why it always freezes at XX:25-30. Maybe some of you know about something related to that?

    I am using a raid 5 system for my ubuntu 12.04 xmbc media server with 5 disks. Since the data isn't changing a lot and a total loss wouldn't be so bad, cause I have another backup anyway I am thinking about using SnapRAID It sais: SnapRAID is mainly targeted for a home media center, where you have a lot of big files that rarely change The main advantage for me would be power-saving, cause not all disks have to run all the time. Would you recomment using this? (with a regular resync script once a day)

    I have trouble to paste a list of strings in the format of 'mm/dd/yy' into Numbers. For example: 04/01/10 04/03/10 04/13/10 The result will be: 2004-01-10 2004-03-10 04/13/10 It looks like that Numbers convert the mm into year, then month and last day. Is there any way to paste whatever as they are? Do I have to change settings in Numberers or System preference?

    Hello, i got an webserver running and old version of gambio (xt:commerce fork). The error_log in the dir over the public_html is flooding with errors. About 30mb in 15min. How can I disable this log? I can't fix all the errors.   • MySQL Master-Master replication generating thousands of log files

    Today, I checked the /var/lib/mysql/ directory of a server in a master-master replication setup and noticed there were about 3,600 slave-relay.00xxxx files in there (where "xxxx" is an incrementing integer). They appear to be binary log files and don't take up much space (only about 42K), but are they an indication that something is wrong? They range in date from August until today with about 25 per day.     Back in the day, floppy disks were a: and if you were lucky b:, then when permanent storage came along c: was the default for hard disks (as I remember it) Now that many computers no longer have floppy disks is it possible to have your primary hard disk as A: is the convention out dated? Removable drives (like DVDs and flash readers) now seem to take lower precedence than permanent storage so it is a bit of an oddity that floppy disks should have higher letters.

  • Logitech keboard wrong keys under MAC OSX

    I have a Logitech MK250 keyboard I use with my Macbook. One day the "minor/mayor than" and the "back slash" keys flip their functionality, so I have to hit "backslash" to get a "minor than" symbol and press the "alt + minor than" key to get the "backslash". Is there any way to reverse this annoying behavior? I often switch to Windows, where the keys work the expected way, and I'm always missing the right key.
