• How load text into JavaStackTraceConsolePage programmatically?

  In my Eclipse plugin I'd like to send a Java console output (loaded from some other system) to the Java Stack Trace Console. I pseudo-code it'd be something like: get the console output from the other system obtain a reference to a JavaStackTraceConsolePage instance send the text to the console page display the console i.e. switch from my plugin's view to the Console view Step 1 is easy as it is specific to my plugin. As for the rest I'm pretty much clueless - Google and stackoverflow.com don't come up with useful references or how-tos. Since the class JavaStackTraceConsolePage is part of an internal Eclipse API (org.eclipse.jdt.internal.debug.ui.console) I'm not even sure whether it's doable at all.

• Flex AdvancedDataGrid with Grouping, how do I get objects to appear under first GroupingField if the

  I am using an AdvancedDataGrid with two GroupingFields. The dataProvider has a list of objects with these two field values, but occasionally the second field value can be null. When it loads, the AdvancedDataGrid UI has a root folder (first GroupingField) and some additional subfolders (second GroupingField). This is all good. However, the objects with a null value for the second GroupingField, just get placed in a subfolder with no label. I want the objects with a null second GroupingField value to appear as leaf nodes beneath the root folder (first GroupingField) minus the blank subfolder. A good way to picture this would be a file explorer. Is there a good way to do this? Make the folder icon disappear maybe after expanding this node through actionscript? • Microsoft.SqlServer.SqlTools.VSIntegration reference problem/oddities in Visual Studio 2010

  SQL Server Edition: 2008 Enterprise Visual Studio: 2010 w/ .NET 4.0 SSMS 2008 Addin - Data Scripter project source code on CodePlex references Microsoft.SqlServer.SqlTools.VSIntegration.dll I have referenced the DLL under <<Microsoft SQL Server install location>>\100\Tools\Binn\VSShell\Common7\IDE But here is the oddity. Microsoft.SqlServer.SqlTools.VSIntegration.dll contains a namespace Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.UI.VSIntegration, which in turn contains ServiceCache (public sealed). As soon as I add the reference, ServiceCache is highlighted (meaning there is no reference issue) But the problem arises when I compile the project and VS 2010 throws up an error that it cannot find ServiceCache. The name 'ServiceCache' does not exist in the current context Why is that ServiceCache is not visible during compile time but looks like it's available right after adding the assembly? And Reflector does show that ServiceCache is part of the assembly that the project is referencing, but Visual Studio intellisense fails to display it. Any had this kind of problem? [UPDATE] Some screenshots Reflector clearly shows ServiceCache But Visual Studio 2010 says, otherwise...

But it is not available on visual web developer 2008 express edition When I tried <asp:chart > it is not available... Do I have to do some procedure to get it active on web developer. The problem I am having is the loop is iterating quicker than the ui is being created, is there a way to use event listeners with loops so it only continues after my function has completed its work. • What makes MVVM uniquely suited to WPF?

  The Model-View-ViewModel is very popular with WPF and Silverlight. I've been using this for my most recent projects, and am a very large fan. I understand that it's a refinement of MVP. However, I am wondering exactly what unique characteristics of WPF (and Silverlight) allow MVVM to work, and prevent (or at least make difficult) this pattern from working using other frameworks or technologies. I know MVVM has a strong dependency on the powerful data binding technology within WPF. This is the one feature which many articles and blogs seem to mention as being the key to WPF providing the means of the strong separation of View from ViewModel. However, data binding exists in many forms in other UI frameworks. There are even projects like Truss that provide WPF-style databinding to POCO in .NET. What features, other than data binding, make WPF and Silverlight uniquely suited to Model-View-ViewModel?

  I have a modal dialog box presented in Yahoo UI. The user selects a value from dialog "A", and then I want to present another modal dialog box to collect some more data in dialog "B". I have been using the YAHOO.widget.Dialog successfully. The problem seems to be that you can't initiate dialog window "B" from the handler function of dialog "A". So, how can you programmatically launch a second dialog window after the user hits the "OK" button on the first ? (I had tried to create an additional Listener for a field that is updated in dialog "A" to trigger dialog "B" but this doesn't work either.) Thanks..

• is there any light weight javascript date picker

  I am using JQuery Date picker, but it is too much heavy, the minified version of ui.datepicker.min.js is of 44 KB. the images of datepicker have their own weigh. the jquery framework is of 59 KB. and total images on page are of around 80 KB the total html of page is around 70 KB and the css file size is around 72 KB. and much more, and all the things go upto 600 KB. which is 0.6 MB. do you think user will wait for 600 KB to be downloaded in the browser? it may take upto 8 - 10 secs. and I dont think that user will wait for such long time. I want to keep my website light weight. is there any light weight javascript date picker.

• PowerBuilder Indeterminate Progress Bar

  I have a somewhat-long-running stored procedure being called from a PB application. I want the UI to show an indicator that it is processing, but I don't know the exact progress. That is, I can't say whether it is 10% or 90% done. All I know is when it is done. To give the user something to look at I'd like to put a "Inderterminate" (horizontal) progress bar on the window somewhere. I've looked at the documentation for the built-in HProgressBar control and don't see how to force this behavior. Short of writing my own control or importing another one, is there a way to accomplish this?

• Code reviews for larger MVC.NET team using TFS

  I'm trying to find a good code review workflow for my team. Most questions similar to this on SO revolve around using shelved changes for the review, however I'm curious about how this works for people with larger teams. We usually have 2-3 people working a story (UI person, Domain/Repository person, sometimes DB person). I've recommended the shelf idea but we're all concerned about how to manage that with multiple people working the same feature. How could you share a shelf between multiple programmers at that point? We worry it would be clunky and we might easily have unintended consequences moving to this workflow. Of course moving to shelfs for each feature avoids having 10 or so checkins per feature (as developers need to share code) making seeing the diffs at code review time painful. Has anyone else been able to successfully deal with this? Are there any tools out there people have found useful aside from shelfs in TFS (preferably open-source)?

My application database consist of two logic parts: application tables - such as user, roles... user defined tables (he can generate them from ui level) that can be different for each application instance All tables are created by rails migrations mechanism. I would like to put user defined tables in another directory: db/migrations - application tables db/migrations/custom - tables generated by user so i can do svn:ignore on db/migrations/custom, and when I do updates of my app on clients servers it would only update application tables migrations. Is there any way to achieve this in rails?

My only option seems to be to reverse engineer the Javascript object to see what parameters and values I can pass in.   Hello, I have an UI implemented with Swing. One component does some work that may take some time, so I use SwingUtilities.invokeLater. However, I was reading some old code and found this in an ActionListener: if (!SwingUtilities.isEventDispatchThread()) { SwingUtilities.invokeLater(new Runnable() { public void run() { // code X } }); } else { // code X } I thought that it made sense since it separates code X from the EDT. However, I found it error-prone since I have used it a couple of times and both times I forgot the else part. The question is: is the SwingUtilities.isEventDispatchThread() checking necessary? Or could I assume that I am not in the EDT and always use invokeLater? Thanks a lot.

• Returning the value of an identity column during/after INSERT command

  Using VS 2010, with ASP.NET, and .NET 3.0, and C#... When I use a System.Web.UI.WebControls.SqlDataSource and call its Insert() method to insert a new row, and that table has an identity column, I'd like my method to return the value of that column. For example, in my SQL 2005 table, I've got: Customer.Id Customer.FirstName Customer.LastName Where Customer.Id is an identity colum. When I call my method InsertNewCustomerRecord( "John", "Smith" ), I'd like to be able to return the Customer.Id that gets automatically generated in the database. Just as the line tool in Photoshop (for example): The user clicks on the image, drags the mouse (while the line between the start point and the mouse point is dynamically drawn on mouse drag). I would also need a callable function to send the page the start and end coordinates. "$(ProjectDir)Content\js\revnumber.js.tpl" "$(ProjectDir)Content\js\revnumber.js" It works great, but now I want to make sure I have SubWCRev before running it, so I can skip this post build if a fellow developer is not running TortoiseSVN. • Accessing WebKit Devtools JavaScript library

  I noticed something in Chrome the other day- I had opened Developer Tools, and then hit view source and was initially surprised to notice that apparently the developer tools window is coded in HTML and JavaScript- you can see that by putting the following into the Chrome address bar: view-source:chrome://devtools/devtools.html Two things struck me- first, the codes copyright belongs to Apple (considering their backing of WebKit, thats not too surprising), and secondly, it appears that you cannot access the JavaScript, CSS or Image files directly through Chrome by clicking on links in the source code. So two questions: Where are the DevTools assets stored on my computer or how can I otherwise access them? Or even better, can someone identify the library that is used and let me know how its licensed? I'm always on the look out for a well implemented UI toolkit- and Devtools looks great.

  I've added WCF Service reference to my asp.net application and configured that reference to support asncronious calls. But from UI i'm not supposed to call the service methods directly. I need to call all service methods from a static class and from code behind file i need to invoke the static method. In this scenario what exactlly do i need to do?
