• Adapting Android Bluetooth Chat for multiple devices

  Hello, I'm doing a college project on Bluetooth for Android, and I'm trying to understand how to manage communication between multiple connected devices. Eventually I'm going to develop a multiplayer Bluetooth Game. Currently I've adapted Android's sample app BluetoothChat to connect my three Nexxus One phones. 1 connects to 2 who connects to 3 1 sends its messages successfully to 2. 3 sends its messages successfully to 2 as well. 2 can send its messages successfully to 1 and 3, as it shares a ConnectedThread with both. But I can't figure out how to handle getting communication from 1 to 3. Does anyone have any examples of communication between multiple devices or has done this themselves? Thanks

• Is it possible to avoid C++ compiler error (C2757) where 2 different header files contain same symbol for namespace & class?

  Hi, I am facing a problem when implementing some new code to an existing library. This library already references a class with a name say 'foo'. The same name is used as a namespace in the other header file which has to be included to implement the new functionality. Since both the header files are a part of legacy code libraries I cannot amend them. So here I am looking for any way so as to avoid the Compiler Error (C2757: a symbol with this name already exists and therefore this name cannot be used as a namespace name). I am not sure whether it is possible or not. Hence, Any help shall be appreciated. • Why does casting a NaN to a long yeild a valid result?

  In the sample code below I am dividing by zero which when I step through it with the debugger the (dividend / divisor) yeilds an Infinity or NaN (if the divisor is zero). When I cast this result to a long I get a valid result, usually something like -9223372036854775808. Why is this cast valid? Why doesn't it stop executing (throw an exception for example) rather than assign an arbitrary value? double divisor = 0; double dividend = 7; long result = (long)(dividend / divisor);

• Syncing SQL Server 2008 Databases over HTTP using WCF & Sync Framework

  I've tried to get a solution for the above said question from MSDN Social and other resources from Microsoft. I was specifically looking for offline scenarios where client come online only to fetch updates from the Server. There are plenty of articles on Sync covering Sql CE but MSFT team seems to be ignoring questions from the community on Syncing with Sql Express clients. There is no standard provider for Sql Express client yet, and Sql 2008 change tracking is not supported in the latest release too. Since Sql Replication is an expensive alternative, I have to go with Sync Framework. Have anyone here in SO worked with Sync Framework, syncing through WCF endpoints? Please share code samples or sample projects.

  I am using OpenCV sample code “peopledetect.cpp” to detect and track pedestrians. The code uses HoG for feature extraction and SVM for classification. Please find the reference paper used here. The camera is mounted on the wall at a height of 10 feet and 45 degree down. There is no restriction on the pedestrian movement within the frame. I want to track the detected pedestrians’ movement within the frame. The issue I am facing is pedestrians are detected only in the middle region of the frame as most of the features are not visible as soon as the pedestrian enters the frame region. I want to track each person’s movement in the entire frame region. How to do it? Is tracking required? Can anyone give any reference to blogs/codes?

• Are self-described / auto-descriptive services loosely or tightly coupled in a SOA architecture ?

  I consider a self-described / auto-descriptive service as a good thing in a SOA architecture, since (almost) everything you know to call the service is present in the service contract (such a WSDL). Sample of a non self-described service for me is Facebook Query Language (FQL http://wiki.developers.facebook.com/index.php/FQL), or any web service exchanging XML flow in a one String parameter for then parsing XML and performing treatments. Last ones seem further more technically decoupled, since technically you can switch implementations without technical impact on the caller, handling compatibility between implementations/versions at a business level. On the other side, having no strong interface (diluted into the service and its version), make the service tightly coupled to the existing implementation (more difficulty to interchange the service and to ensure perfect compatibility).   What's the best way to automate this function? I want to be able to do this in Outlook 2010, (1)select a specific mail account (2)Key in a folder that I am looking for (3)Then have the macro/program fire off an "*" asterisk (4)Then insert the text that I keyed in step one. I am trying to automate the search for a folder hot-keys that already exist. My problem is that I can't type the folder that I am looking for fast enough and all the search programs that I have used are far too slow.   I have a managed object with a dueDate attribute. If I change my sectionNameKeyPath to just "dueDate" then everything works fine. I think that's because the dueDate attribute never changes whereas the category will be different when read back after the finishedDate attribute changes. Please help! • Is it possible to disable the iPhone's automatic hyperlinks?

  We send out a notification email whenever we have "phishing" emails reported to us. In these emails, we include a copy-paste of the text inside the original phishing email as a sample of what is reported to us. Our code strips all hyperlinks out of the email via PHP, but still includes (in plain text) the link. When users receive this email in their client (Thunderbird, Outlook, Horde/IMP, etc), the hyperlink is removed. However, the iPhone likes to take web addresses in plain text and automatically turn them into hyperlinks. Is there any possible way to stop this action from happening via a HTML tag or by using PHP to replace certain parts of the hyperlink?

• How can I consume a WSDL (SOAP) web service in Python?

  I want to use a WSDL SOAP based web service in Python. I have looked at the Dive Into Python code but the SOAPpy module does not work under Python 2.5. I have tried using suds which works partly, but breaks with certain types (suds.TypeNotFound: Type not found: 'item'). I have also looked at Client but this does not appear to support WSDL. And I have looked at ZSI but it looks very complex. Does anyone have any sample code for it? The WSDL is https://ws.pingdom.com/soap/PingdomAPI.wsdl and works fine with the PHP 5 SOAP client.

I have the following in my project folder: these four dirs should each be on their own line: /source /sample_applications /images /videos Right now the repo just includes the /source directory...which is code only. It is on my local computer. I am thinking of adding it to git hub. My question is: should I add the sample apps, the images and the videos to the repo? Is that something that people normally do and that other people want people to do? Can git even handle videos(noob here)?

  If I have a REST based service written in the Symfony [symfony-project.org] framework (i.e. PHP), is there any decent tools/frameworks out there that will parse my code and generate API documentation? The Java based framework enunciate has documentation capabilities similar to what I need, you can view an example of this here: http://enunciate.codehaus.org/wannabecool/step1/index.html. I understand the premise of REST based services are supposed to be self evident, however I was after something that would generate this documentation for me without the need to manually write up all my endpoints, supported formats, sample output etc. Thanks
