Everybody knows the Gnome program (I can remember the package name right now, or if it's Nautilus itself) that gives us the menu "connect to server" that we can login in a remove ftp, ssh, windows, and much more and mount it very easily.   Hi, I've tried to rebuild my search index but it does not seem to help. When i search for anything even command I either get an empty list or a list of short cuts with the names Programs Documents Files ... They all have the default white paper icon. If I click on them I get an error message that says Internet security settings prevented one or more files from being opened. Any ideas? thanks

  I have a role assigned to me in vSphere and this role doesn't allow me to see any vmware tags but i know that tags are being used and are assigned to VMs. In my personal lab, i'm able to reproduce this error but i'm having difficulty figuring out which permissions I need in order to query for tags and tag assignments. Ideally, I'd like to not have the set/remove tag permissions. Is this possible? thanks.

  Hi, I was just wondering if it was possible to protect a directory with a username/password combination using .htaccess and .htpasswd files, but not protect the files within. i.e. One is able to link, say, images within that directory to friends, but browsing the directory itself would not be allowed without a username/password.   I'm using linux(ubuntu), there's a linux(fedora) server, that I can log in with ssh, is there any possibility //server/dir /mnt/my_mount_dir cifs username=loginpassword=11111,uid=1000,iocharset=utf8,codepage=unicode,unicode 0 0 As far as I'm concerned, this construction uses SMB as primary tool. Is there any possibility to use NFS or any another approach, because in case of SMB it tends to have permission, symlink collisions. PS It would be great if you also provide some links. Thanks.

  Hi, I'm wondering if there's a way to not show hidden applications in the list of running apps when using Command-Tab ? LiteSwitch (http://www.proteron.com/) sort of does what I want, except it grays out hidden applications, but I want them to not appear at all. I use hidden applications as a sort of 'I'll get to later, or don't bother me now' method, so it would be great if Command-Tab could honor that (the same was Expose does). Thanks.

  I have a virtual machine on Vsphere 5.0 running Ubuntu 12.04 when i put dinamic IP (/etc/network/interfaces) iface eth0 inet dhcp Ubuntu have network and i can do ping to google for example (8.8.8.8) but when i put static IP and configure resolv.conf My interfaces file: auto eth0 iface eth0 inet static address 192.168.1.54 gateway 192.168.1.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 it lost the network and i cant do ping to anything...i dont understand where is the problem...   If I get the fully qualified computer name on a Windows server (2K3 or 2K8) using the GetComputerNameEx() API call, can I rely on that name to be unique on that particular domain? That is, can I assume that only a single active physical or virtual machine will have that fully qualified name at a given time?
