  • Simple alternative to GNU Readline library not GPL

    I love the GNU readline library, but since it is under a GPL license, I can not use it for commercial software. Do you know alternatives ? I only need the commandline history and auto completion (of customer keywords and files) features. I found this link : http://github.com/antirez/linenoise which seem to be a good starting point, but does not have auto completion. Any suggestions, surely this must be a common task for people building interactive shell commands.

    We're distributing a commercial application for Linux and we currently make it available for download as a .tar.gz, a .rpm, and a .deb. We're setting up both RPM and DEB repositories to make upgrading easier. Is it appropriate to add our repository to /etc/apt/sources.list or /etc/yum.repos.d automatically as part of the initial install? Are there any good reasons not to?

  • Can I use a previous version of iText(Sharp) under the LGPL?

I need it to run under medium trust (webserver) and to be free of charge (sice this is a very small project), therefore there is not much competition. Unfortunately, since I need it for a commercial project, I cannot the AGPL introduced with version 5.0. Do you know if I may use the 4.x versions using the LGPL? Or is their license automatically updated to the APGL?

    I can't find anything like that. Commercial or free ( XSQL Lite is suitable for my case and ) tools show diffs in grids with possibility to export to CSV. Also they generate sync SQL scripts when run from command line. What I need is an output as a comprehensive report ( XML , HTML ) suitable for parsing so that I would be able to show similar diff grid in my application ( updated old/new values for each column , added - all values for row , deleted - all values for row and etc... ) .

    I'm looking for a free, open-sourced web application written in C#/VB.Net on top of ASP.Net, which functions like Plesk or cPanel when it comes to (remote) file management. Something that simulates a regular FTP client, but actually displays web pages over HTTP, with the following functions: Create Folder Rename File/Folder Delete File/Folder Change Timestamp ("Touch") Move Archive etc. I saw a few commercial tools, but nothing when it comes to OSS.     I'm starting a project with a STMicro STM32. I've done the Google searches, looking for solid compiler/debugger chains but would prefer answers with success stories. Open Source Compilers/Linkers would be ideal, I just don't know if their STM32 toolchains are stable yet. (Both C, C++ compilers are acceptable). -- So commercial options are acceptable as well. Do any of you have useful suggestions?

    I wanted to convert some xml to a magazine like pdf document. A lot like what Latext allows you to do however i was not able to find any new books or online tutorials on the subject. Is it worth investing in using this technology or not? Also, I looked at the Apache XSL-FO project and their last release was in august 2008. p.s. commercial packages are not an option :(

However, while the results are certainly understandable, technical texts are hard to follow. Commercial TTS solutions from Loquendo and Readspeaker sound way better.     Is is wise to redistribute the pdb files along with a commercial application? Occasionally, I'm using the stack trace to get a more detailed error reporting logs from the deployed applications; can this functionality be achieved without relying to those files? Also, how much hints of the original source code does these files contain? Would it be easier to reverse-engineer my application using it?
