  • Disable Certain Firefox Plugins System-wide by Default

    I have firefox installed system-wide for all our users. Unfortunately the Adobe Reader Plug-in is rather flakey and doesn't work some of the time. As a result I want to disable the plug-in by default for all our users, but still allow them to enable it if they want via the standard Tools-Add-ons-Plug-ins menu option. How can I have this plug-ins enabled/disabled status be disabled by default? I've been able to configure system-wide configurations before by setting preferences in the mozilla root folder file defaults/pref/all.js, but enabled/disabled plugins doesn't appear to be configured in the preferences. [edit 1]: I found 'How to manage firefox plugins in pluginreg.dat file' which explained some of the formatting of the pluginreg.dat file.   • Installing 64-bit Ubuntu Server 12.04 LTS, on a VM with VMWare Player, on a 64-bit Windows 7 PC

    I'm trying to create a VM, using VMWare Player, with an ISO image of Ubuntu Server 12.04 (LTS). The machine I'm doing the installation on has an Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU, and runs 64-bit Windows 7 I managed to create the VM (gave username, password, configured network etc), but I can't install Ubuntu Server. First I get this alert : Binary translation is incompatible with long mode on this platform. Disabling long mode. Without long mode support, the virtual machine will not be able to run 64-bit code. For more details see http://vmware.com/info?id=152. When I click OK, I get another alert : This virtual machine is configured for 64-bit guest operating systems. However, 64-bit operation is not possible. This host supports Intel VT-x, but Intel VT-x is disabled. Intel VT-x might be disabled if it has been disabled in the BIOS/firmware settings or the host has not been power-cycled since changing this setting. (1) Verify that the BIOS/firmware settings enable Intel VT-x and disable 'trusted execution.' (2) Power-cycle the host if either of these BIOS/firmware settings have been changed. (3) Power-cycle the host if you have not done so since installing VMware Player. (4) Update the host's BIOS/firmware to the latest version. For more detailed information, see http://vmware.com/info?id=152. Then, when I click OK, my VM exists, and I get back to the VMWare Player home screen.   • Ubuntu odd mouse and keyboard behavior when window gains inner focus

    This morning on my Ubuntu 10.10 system when I open a window - for example, system-preferences-about me, if I click in to a field such as "work email", I can no longer close the window with the mouse! Clicking the X on the window will not work. Also, I loose the ability to click on anything else - clicking on the desktop, icons, menus, workspaces, etc. do not work. Even the effect when you hover over a folder on the desktop and that folder highlights - that stops until the window is closed. If I open this same screen but do not click in to a field, everything is fine - I can close the window with the X and everything else works fine. Same thing happens with several other windows I tried. Even calculator - I can open it, everything is fine until I click on a button in the calculator - then no ability to click on anything else. Have to Alt-F4 to close the window. The system is only about a week old from a fresh install (64 bit ubuntu - quad core amd machine). I uninstalled wine, turned off remote desktop/disabled in startup, also in startup disabled visual assistance, bluetooth, dropbox, klipper. Reboot, no difference. The only other thing non-standard I see in startup is nvidia. Using a logitec usb mouse, saitek usb keyboard. Was working fine yesterday. I can not think of anything I did / installed yesterday. I switched themse, then went to update manager and saw two x server / x org related updates and installed them, reboot and NOW IT IS FINE! However, then I re-enabled dropbox, klipper and remote desktop rebooted and the problem is back. Again I disabled and rebooted. Problem is still there!! So somehow I fixed it at least for a few minutes, but now it is back and I am out of ideas.

    Here is what i want to do: I have a bunch of systems, some might have the same Public-IP, i disable ARP. I have a Firewall (either IP Layer or bridge-FW) between these systems and the internet. Depending on the destination port of incoming IP-Packets to some of these Public-IPs i want to set the destinsation-Ethernet-Adress. So for instance System A has IP 8.8.8.8, mac de:ad:be:ef:de:ad, arp disabled System B has IP 8.8.8.8, mac 1f:1f:1f:1f:1f:1f, arp disabled Firewall has IP 8.8.8.1, arp disabled on that interface Incoming packet to IP 8.8.8.8 tcp dest port 100 Incoming packet to IP 8.8.8.8 tcp dest port 101 Firewall sets dest-mac for 1.) - de:ad:be:ef:de:ad Firewall sets dest-mac for 2.) - 1f:1f:1f:1f:1f:1f Second scenario: System A and System B establish outgoing TCP-Connections, and the firewall matches the dst-mac of the incoming IP-Packets (response packets) to the senders-mac address. is this possible in any way with linux and iptables? edit: i read ebtables might "work" in a hackish way for this purpose but i am not sure...

  • Control third check box based on the state of the first two using jquery

    I have three check boxes and need to disable the third if either and/or of the other two are checked. I'm sure there's a easier way than what I have currently. It's turning into what I believe is a mess and I'm hoping that someone with more jquery knowledge can shine the light here. I don't understand why. This works, but one of the requirements is that a non programmer should be able to edit and maintain this. Ideally it'd be great if he could just add new check boxes to the html and it would work. The class for these are define and as far as I know can't be changed. The last check box in the list of check boxes will disable if any of the ones above are selected. Like wise if the last check box is selected, it will disable all the ones above it. I haven't even begun writing and testing that portion as this is quickly becoming too complicated for a non programmer to handle. I myself am more of a PHP coder than a js, let alone jquery, coder. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi all, I have a form that when submitted shows a busy animation and disables the submit button. Anyone know how to query Microsoft's Sys.Mvc.FormValidation to see if the form passed it's test so I can prevent the busy animation showing if the form hasn't actually been submitted? Or even some other work-around? I tried the others type of input, radio, checkbox, file : works. But text does not. I can specify a value on my input (it's its purpose on my work : a search in a database for datas to be modified and reinjected in database). In fact, I can access to the text input by clicking-right in then left. But it's pretty 'unergonomic', and in my project it's unthinkable.     In a normal aspx page I've set up a jquery tab system. When a particular tab shows up I wire up an ajax call to get another html page with the following content. The btnupdate is supposed to show the contents in the update div and load the form for accepting user input. Whenever I hit btnupdate button I get an object not found exception on IE 8. IE 8 asks if it should start up its in-built debuggger. But, even in this debugger I cannot see what the problem is...However on clicking "No" in that dialog the button click function executes properly, and the form is displayed as intended. Is there a better way to resolve the problem?

    Two models (Rails 2.3.8): User; username & disabled properties; User has_one :profile Profile; full_name & hidden properties I am trying to create a named_scope that eliminate the disabled=1 and hidden=1 User-Profiles. The User model is usually used in conjunction with the Profile model, so I attempt to eager-load the Profile model (:include = :profile).   • WPF: ContextMenu item bound to a Command is enabled only after invoking the command from another so

    I have a ContextMenu whose items are all bound to commands and enable\disable correctly after ANY Command is invoked from another source but prior to, they are all disabled. So if I run the app, all the MenuItems are disabled but if I invoke any of the bound commands from another source (buttons, for instance) they become synchronized with the CanExecute code. I have no idea how to debug this. Any thought would be helpful!?!

  • Silverlight control locked in runtime

    I have a online survey running in Silverlight. Out of more than 1000 onetime users, there are three users than cannot open a combobox on the first page. The control seems disabled and don't react on mouseclick. Since it is one-time user, they don't wan't to help me with debugging and I cannot reproduce the problem myself. Any ideas why 1000 users have no problem, and 3 are experiencing all controls like they were disabled?

    I'm writing a jQuery plug-in so I can reuse this code in many places as it is a very well used piece of code, the code itself adds a new line to a table which has been cloned from a hidden row, it continues to perform a load of manipulations on the new row.     I'm trying to disable a button when a user submits a payment form and the code to post the form is causing a double post in firefox. This problem does not occur when the code is removed, and does not occur in any browser other than firefox. Any idea how to prevent the double post here?   • Ajax success function firing before java class responds

    I am creating a login function with ajax and am having an issue where the success function (SuccessLogin) fires before getting an ajax response. I am running the code as google web app from eclipse and I can see when debugging the java class file, that the javascript is throwing an alert for the success response from the class being false before the debugger catches the break point in the class file.   • Using GET Method to Maintain Variables After Logging In

    Hello, I am using a login system. When I navigate to comments/index.php without logging in, some variables get passed along using the GET method just fine. Then, if I log in while I am on this page, these variables disappear. The variables that disappear are $submission, $submissionid, and $url. I thought I could use the GET method to keep them live after logging in by appending ?submission='.$submission.'&submissionid='.$submissionid.'&url='.$url.' to the URL of the login form action as seen below. But the variables still disappeared after I made this addition. The relevant code I am trying to use is below. Any idea what I can do to make it do what I want?
