• Can I pass a string variable into an <a href> tag for a website link?

  I am somewhat new to web developing, so I am trying to learn along the way. I have a div that is 500 x 500. Inside of that div I have two divs that are each 250x500. So my outer div is filled up with the two inner divs. I have it setup so that when I click on the first div (the left one) a java script is called, and a prompt pop up box asks for a website URL which is then stored inside of a string variable. How can I make it so that the second div (the right one) takes the string variable from the alert box from the left div and puts it into an a href tag so that I can link to the website from the right div? Can a a href tag accept a value from a variable for its link? Maybe I am going about this all wrong, is there a better way I should be approaching this? Any help is appreciated!!

• Curls and file_get_contents times out when loading a page

  Im trying to grab the content of this page(http://www.alluc.org/movies/watch-hot-tub-time-machine-2010-online/186214.html) using curl or file_get_contents but it doesnt work, it loads when i just open it in the browser, but not otherwise.   I created class NewProject extends JInternalFrame. Then I create New...Action named "NEW", localised in File menu. I put code NewProject p = new NewProject(); p.setVisible(true); to the ActionPerformed method of the action. But when I run the module and click "NEW" in file menu, nothing appears. • Rails: creating a model in the new action

  I have an interesting situation, well it's probably not that unique at all, but I'm not totally sure how to tackle it. I have a model, in this case a recipe and the user navigates to the new path /recipes/new however the situation is that I need to be able to have the user upload images and make associations to that model in the new action, but the model doesn't have an ID yet. So I assume I need to rethink my controller, but I don't want to have redirects and whatnot, how can accomplish this? Here is the basic controller, barebones obviously: ... def new # I should be creating the model first, so it has an ID @recipe = Recipe.new end def create @recipe = Recipe.new(params[:recipe]) if @recipe.save redirect_to @recipe else render 'new' end end ... update Perhaps I can have a column thats like state which could have values like new/incomplete/complete or what-have-you. I'm mostly trying to figure out what would also be most efficient for the DB. It would be nice if I could still have a url that said '/new', instead of it be the edit path with the id, for usability sake, but I'm not sure this can be simply accomplished in the new action of my controller. Thoughts?

• Rails, making certain multiparameter attributes optional?

  Is there a method already part of Rails for making certain parameters option when part of a multiparameter attribute, for example say I'm prompting a user for their birthday, when saved the has may look like this: "birthday(2i)"=>"8", "birthday(3i)"=>"17", "birthday(1i)"=>"1980"}, ... But the issue arises when say I want to allow the user to just provide their month and day, making the year optional, how would this work being a datetime object, I'm assuming you can't do this as a date object... but any ideas would be helpful. • Running ARM assembly code in Android

  I've been following the guide posted here, trying to get this Hello, World program to run on my Samsung Galaxy S3. It's rooted already, and I successfully pushed the "hello" file onto the sdcard. Now when I enter the shell as the superuser (# instead of $), and try to run the file, I get "cannot execute - permission denied". I used chmod 755 hello to see if that would fix it, still nothing. Is there something I'm missing? This is my first time fiddling around with Android, just got the phone, and wanted to see if I could get this to work. Very new to it all. Thanks!

• PHP CURL works fine from localhost not from server

  I have 2 servers, srv1 and srv2. All client sites are stored in srv2 and all authentication details are stored in srv1. Each time a client site is loaded, the site in srv2 sends a curl request to srv1 to validate. I am always getting bool(false) when I print the curl response using var_dump. But if I am requesting for validation from my local wamp installation(localhost) it is perfectly returning the response. According to my understanding srv2 is blocking srv1 ip or something like that. Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. The solution is really urgent as all my clients are stuck with invalid authorization message. Edit: Now when i tested curl in srv2 is working fine i think. Because I am able to fetch other websites without any trouble. But I am not able to fetch data from srv1. I can view a page from srv1 through browser url but not through curl.

While still supporting international addresses, I would prefer something like this: "address": { "street":"665 3rd St.", "extended":"Suite 207", "locality":"San Fransicso", "region":"CA", "code":"94107", "country":"U.S.A." }, If I'm designing a new JSON API right now, does it make sense to use microformats from the start? Say i have 3 excel sheets one for each user for data entry located in separate workbooks to avoid excel share workbook problems. I also have a master sheet in another workbook where i want individual data enter on those sheets precisely sheets 1 should copy to the next available row of sheet 1 in the master sheet as the users enter them. i need a vba code that can copy each record without copying a duplicate row in the master sheet but highlight the duplicate row and lookup the initial record in a master sheet and return the name of the Imputer looking up the row say column ( I) where each user sign there initials after every row of entry like below. • Using RecordStore in Java J2ME

  Hi, I am currently doing some J2ME development. I am having a problem in that a user can add and remove elements to the record store, and if a record gets deleted, then that record is left empty and the others don't move up one. I'm trying to come up with a loop that will check if a record has anything in it (incase it has been deleted) and if it does then I want to add the contents of that record to a list. My code is similar to as follows: for (int i = 1; i <= rs.getNumRecords(); i++) { // Re-allocate if necessary if (rs.getRecordSize(i) > recData.length) recData = new byte[rs.getRecordSize(i)]; len = rs.getRecord(i, recData, 0); st = new String(recData, 0, len); System.out.println("Record #" + i + ": " + new String(recData, 0, len)); System.out.println("------------------------------"); if(st != null) { list.insert(i-1, st, null); } } When it gets to rs.getRecordSize(i), I always get a "javax.microedition.rms.InvalidRecordIDException: error finding record". The nfreeze did not store the hash properly. Can someone point me to what I'm doing wrong in the createOrder subroutine? I know the module version have nothing to do with the problem.

• Is it possible to group records belonging to an entity in dbunit?

  Our JPA entity model auto-generates primary key identifiers for user, user_address tables. Would it be possible to group these entities given below via dbunit, so that I don't need to provide neither the primary key as well as the foreign key reference from user_address.user_id. It is getting very hard to maintain these keys (i.e. I would prefer to group the primary record 'user' and the child records 'user_address' so that dbunit can group them automatically by looking up the entity metadata). • java url connection, wait for data being sent through the outputstream

  I'm writting a java class that tests uploading speed connection to a server. I want to check how many data can be send in 5 seconds. I've written a class which creates a URL, creates a connection, and sends data trough the outPutStream. There is a loop where I writte data to the stream for 5 seconds. However I'm not able to see when data has been send (I writte data to the output stream, but data is not send yet). How can I wait untill data is really sent to the server?   I have the next methods in my singleton to execute the JDBC connections public void openDB() throws ClassNotFoundException, IllegalAccessException, InstantiationException, SQLException { Class.forName("com.mysql.jdbc.Driver").newInstance(); String url = "jdbc:mysql://localhost/mbpe_peru";//mydb conn = DriverManager.getConnection(url, "root", "admin"); st = conn.createStatement(); } public void sendQuery(String query) throws SQLException { st.executeUpdate(query); } public void closeDB() throws SQLException { st.close(); conn.close(); } And I'm having a problem in a void where i have to call this twice. private void jButton1ActionPerformed(ActionEvent evt) { Main.getInstance().openDB(); Main.getInstance().sendQuery("call insertEntry('"+EntryID()+"','"+SupplierID()+"');"); Main.getInstance().closeDB(); Main.getInstance().openDB(); for(int i=0;i<dataBox.length;i++){ Main.getInstance().sendQuery("call insertCount('"+EntryID()+"','"+SupplierID()+"','"+BoxID()+"'); Main.getInstance().closeDB(); } } I have already tried to keep the connection open and send the 2 querys and after that closed and it didnt work... The only way it worked was to not use the methods, declare the commands for the connection and use different variables for the connection and the statement. I thought that if i close the Connecion and the Statement I could use the variable once again since is a method but I'm not able to. Is there any way to solve this using my methods for the JDBC connection?

  Hi Everyone, I'm working on a project which has a dictionary of words and I'm extracting them and adding them to an ArrayList as word objects. I have a class called Word as below. What I'm wondering is how do I access these word objects to update the frequency? As part of this project, I need to only have one unique word, and increase the frequency of that word by the number of occurrences in the dictionary. Word(String word) { this.word = word; this.freq = 0; } public String getWord() { return word; } public int getFreq() { return freq; } public void setFreq() { freq = freq + 1; } This is how I am adding the word objects to the ArrayList...I think it's ok?
