The iPAD’s large multi touch screen allows us to now check Gmail in jus fraction of second The new Gmail interface for iPAD has two pane with the E-Mail header on the left side and the actual conversation on the right side. Though this new pane slightly reminds us about the Microsoft’s Outlook version, the look and feel of Google’s makes us feel that its new to the market. • OWB 11gR2 – Parallel DML and Query

- by David Allan
A quick post illustrating conventional (non direct path) parallel inserts and query using OWB following on from some recent posts from Jean-Pierre and Randolf on this topic. The mapping configuration properties is where you can define these hints in OWB, taking JP’s simplistic illustration, the parallel query hints in OWB are defined on the ‘Extraction hint’ property for the source, and the parallel DML hints are defined on the ‘Loading hint’ property on the target table operator. If we then generate the code you can see the intermediate code generated below… Finally…remember the parallel enabled session for this all to fly… Anyway, hope this helps join a few dots….

Hello, I would like to make a small silverlight app which displays one fairly large image which can be zoomed in by scrolling the mouse and then panned with the mouse. it's similar to the function in google maps and i do not want to use deepzoom. here is what i have at the moment. please keep in mind that this is my first silverlight app: this app is just for me to see it's a good way to build in a website. so it's a demo app and therefor has bad variable names. the initial image is 1800px width. private void sc_MouseWheel(object sender, MouseWheelEventArgs e) { var st = (ScaleTransform)plaatje.RenderTransform; double zoom = e.Delta > 0 ? .1 : -.1; st.ScaleX += zoom; st.ScaleY += zoom; } this works, but could use some smoothing and it's positioned top left and not centered. the panning is like this: found it @ http://stackoverflow.com/questions/741956/wpf-pan-zoom-image and converted it to this below to work in silverlight Point start; Point origin; bool captured = false; private void plaatje_MouseLeftButtonDown(object sender, MouseButtonEventArgs e) { plaatje.CaptureMouse(); captured = true; var tt = (TranslateTransform)((TransformGroup)plaatje.RenderTransform) .Children.First(tr => tr is TranslateTransform); start = e.GetPosition(canvasje); origin = new Point(tt.X, tt.Y); } private void plaatje_MouseLeftButtonUp(object sender, MouseButtonEventArgs e) { plaatje.ReleaseMouseCapture(); captured = false; } private void plaatje_MouseMove(object sender, MouseEventArgs e) { if (!captured) return; var tt = (TranslateTransform)((TransformGroup)plaatje.RenderTransform).Children.First(tr => tr is TranslateTransform); double xVerschuiving = start.X - e.GetPosition(canvasje).X; double yVerschuiving = start.Y - e.GetPosition(canvasje).Y; tt.X = origin.X - xVerschuiving; tt.Y = origin.Y - yVerschuiving; } so the scaling isn't smooth and the panning isn't working, because when i click it, the image disappears. thanks in advanced!

• unwanted quote marks in output from printf

- by Gary
I have some address data which has been exported from a database. If the address had multiple lines, the exported data has joined all the lines into one string with the former lines being separated by dollars signs. Here's one of the addresses: INFORMATION DELIVERY DEPT$704 CHERRY ST$ATLANTA, GA 30332-0900 I'm splitting this into an array on the dollar sign and outputting the three array elements into separate tab-separated fields with printf. For some reason, it comes out like this: INFORMATION DELIVERY DEPT 704 CHERRY ST "ATLANTA, GA 30332-0900" I don't want the quotes around that final field. Can anyone explain why this is happening and how to suppress it? This is being done in Windows Vista with gawk3.1.6. Thanks! gary

• How to parse deeply nested using LINQ to XML

- by Picflight
How do I parse the following XML using LINQ? I need to insert into a database table OrderNumber, ShipAddress, ShipCity, ShipState for each Order & OrderCancelled. Then in a separate table I need to insert OrderId from the Returns/Amount section. <!-- language: lang-xml --> <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <OrdersReport Date="2012-08-01"> <Client> <ClientId>1</ClientId> <Orders> <Order> <OrderNumber>1</OrderNumber> <ShipAddress>123 Main St.</ShipAddress> <ShipCity>MyCity</ShipCity> <ShipState>AZ</ShipState> </Order> <Order> <OrderNumber>2</OrderNumber> <ShipAddress>111 Main St.</ShipAddress> <ShipCity>OtherCity</ShipCity> <ShipState>AL</ShipState> </Order> <OrderCancelled> <OrderNumber>3</OrderNumber> <ShipAddress>111 Main St.</ShipAddress> <ShipCity>OtherCity</ShipCity> <ShipState>AL</ShipState> </OrderCancelled> </Orders> <Returns> <Amount> <OrderId>2</OrderId> <OrderId>3</OrderId> </Amount> </Returns> </Client> <Client> <ClientId>2</ClientId> <!-- Same Tree structure as Client 1 --> </Client> </OrdersReport> Not sure why the XML is not showing red and blue colors and not indenting properly. :-(

• crash in calloc

- by mmd
I'm trying to debug a program I wrote. I ran it inside gdb and I managed to catch a SIGABRT from inside calloc(). I'm completely confused about how this can arise. Can it be a bug in gcc or even libc?? More details: My program uses OpenMP. I ran it through valgrind in single-threaded mode with no errors. I also use mmap() to load a 40GB file, but I doubt that is relevant. Inside gdb, I'm running with 30 threads. Several identical runs (same input&CL) finished correctly, until the problematic one that I caught. On the surface this suggests there might be a race condition of some type. However, the SIGABRT comes from calloc() which is out of my control. Here is some relevant gdb output: (gdb) info threads [...] * 11 Thread 0x7ffff0056700 (LWP 73449) 0x00007ffff6a948a5 in raise () from /lib64/libc.so.6 [...] (gdb) thread 11 [Switching to thread 11 (Thread 0x7ffff0056700 (LWP 73449))]#0 0x00007ffff6a948a5 in raise () from /lib64/libc.so.6 (gdb) bt #0 0x00007ffff6a948a5 in raise () from /lib64/libc.so.6 #1 0x00007ffff6a96085 in abort () from /lib64/libc.so.6 #2 0x00007ffff6ad1fe7 in __libc_message () from /lib64/libc.so.6 #3 0x00007ffff6ad7916 in malloc_printerr () from /lib64/libc.so.6 #4 0x00007ffff6adb79f in _int_malloc () from /lib64/libc.so.6 #5 0x00007ffff6adbdd6 in calloc () from /lib64/libc.so.6 #6 0x000000000040e87f in my_calloc (re=0x7fff2867ef10, st=0, options=0x632020) at gmapper/../gmapper/../common/my-alloc.h:286 #7 read_get_hit_list_per_strand (re=0x7fff2867ef10, st=0, options=0x632020) at gmapper/mapping.c:1046 #8 0x000000000041308a in read_get_hit_list (re=<value optimized out>, options=0x632010, n_options=1) at gmapper/mapping.c:1239 #9 handle_read (re=<value optimized out>, options=0x632010, n_options=1) at gmapper/mapping.c:1806 #10 0x0000000000404f35 in launch_scan_threads (.omp_data_i=<value optimized out>) at gmapper/gmapper.c:557 #11 0x00007ffff7230502 in ?? • DrawString with character wrapping

- by Roy
Hi all, I'm creating a fatal error dialog for a Windows Mobile Application using C#. The problem is when I try to draw the stacktrace using DrawString, half of my stacktrace is getting clipped off because DrawString uses word wrapping instead of character wrapping. For those who don't understand the explanation: When i draw the stacktrace, it comes out as this: at company.application.name.space.Funct at company.application.name.Function(St at etc. etc. And i want it to print like this: at company.application.name.space.Funct ion(String sometext, Int32 somenumbe r) at company.application.name.Function(St ring sometext, Int32 somenumber, Int 32 anothernumber) at etc. etc. Is this possible in Csharp?

I'm wondering what is getting released?

• A regular expression that will allow a string with only one Capital Letter

- by Phoenix
The string should be 6 - 20 characters in length. And it should contain 1 Capital letter. I can do this in code using C# string st = "SomeString" Regex rg = new Regex("[A-Z]"); MatchCollection mc = rg.Matches(st); Console.WriteLine("Total Capital Letters: " + mc.Count); if (mc.Count > 1) { return false; } But what i really want is a Regular expression that will match my string if it only contains one capital. The string can start with a common letter and should have only letters. Thanks In advance. (I did look at some of the other RegEx questions but they did not help).
