• How to avoid Black Screen on starting an application

• SSRS mysterious extra pages

  I have two reports that are setup with the same page dimensions- A4 portrait, with page margins of 1cm. When I run the reports seperately and print them they both come out as expected: fitting into the width constraint of the page. However, when I include one report as a subreport in the other and then run and print the "master" report I start to experience problems. Even though both reports appear I get extra blank pages appearing every other page in the output. I'm sure I'm missing a simple trick - probably with the page sizes of the two reports but I can't figure it out - any pointers? I don't mind changing the setup of the subreport as it will never be run as a seperate eport in the wild, I only included that step to prove that it did indeed fit within the page!

  I have Activity with ListView inside it and in the onCreate method of the Activity I have code for populating the Data of the ListView this Data is a server based and so populating includes calling Network URLs. I have the ArrayAdapter of the ListView in the Same Activity Class. Now the Issue I'am facing is that, in Rest all scenarios my Activity is behaving in a proper way but when the Orientation [ Portrait to Landscaped or other way round] is taking place the Data is Getting lost and Newer Data calls are Required to Populate the Same Old Data now this is something that is not intended out the code how should I deal with it.

  is it possible to have a common view for both master and detail view controllers. What if I need to add a header image(at top, the very first view) common for both the master and detail view controllers. When the device is in the portrait mode the width of the header image view has to shrink to fit to the detail view controller's view and when the orientation changes to landscape the width of the same header image view has to be expanded that is the width of it has to be 1024. Please tell me whether doing this is possible. or any workaround for this?

  I hava a simple program about video recording . I use the surfaceView to show the preview screen. and I also want to put some buttons on the screen. I put all the component mentioned above into a XML file which is "ipcam.xml" I use MediaRecorder , SurfaceView , SurfaceHolder to complete this program because the preview screen does not orientate correctly when I rotate my phone. so I use "setRequestedOrientation(ActivityInfo.SCREEN_ORIENTATION_LANDSCAPE);" but , the button in the program is always in LANDSCAPE direction . it will not auto change direction when I rotate my phone , but the preview is ok!! so is there anyway to solve this problem. • How can I setup Eclipse for better Android Widget development?

  I'm trying to develop a widget for Android. I'm using Eclipse but I can't get the view editor setup to match what I'm going to see when I deploy to my phone. I'm creating a 4x1 widget. I've gone through and tried setting up a new "Device" so that I can preview what the widget will look like before I deploy. I said the device is landscape, setup a 240dpi for the x and y on the device and set the dimensions to 294x72 (also tried 72x294 but that didn't work any better). I've done some googling and I can't seem to find any guides for setting up Eclipse. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

  I'm using WPF and need to let users set some print related options like printer and printer properties (e.g. papertray, landscape/portrait, duplex, etc). I'm aware of the PrintDialog class to get a PrintQueue and PrintTicket object. However I need to create I custom solution and can not show the PrintDialog. I manage to get the available PrintQueue objects and let users select a printer. I'm struggling with the printer properties. About, let's say, the audio preferences, i add an icon to a GridView and, on item click event, i use this code startActivityForResult(new Intent(android.provider.Settings.ACTION_SOUND_SETTINGS), 0); Is it possible to get the default settings icon? If i could use an ipotetic getDrawable(android.R.drawable.default_icon_for_audio_preferences_settings), I would to maintain the default icon also in my preferences grid. A preferences provider exists? Looking at my development device preferences i can see Wireless, call, audio, display and so on. I have to add the same preferences to my grid because i know a priori about their existence or there is a provider that can supply me this array? Thanks in advance L.

  I'm stuck at how to save the state of my EditTexts on screen orientation. Currently if text is inputted into the EditTexts and the screen is orientated, the fields are wiped (as expected). I am already calling onSaveInstanceState and saving a String, but I have no clue on how to save the EditTexts which are created in code and then retrieve them and add them to the EditTexts when redrawing the activity. • Android font out of view on small screen

  Hi Everyone I have several text views that take up the majority of the screen in landscape view in a relativelayout and the font size i have set is quite big (150dp). The text views are all timers and the furthest to the right is the "seconds" textview. My problem is that when testing on a phone with a small screen res the seconds are way outside the limit of the screen and can't be seen. They are in perfect place on normal to large screen resolutions just not on a small screen. Is there any way i can force the "seconds" text view to stay on screen, without adjusting the font size or margins between each text view? Even if it means looking cramped on a small screen i can live with that. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks This is the corresponding code:

• [as3] air for android - stage.setOrientation deprecated in AIR 2.5 so how do I do it now?

  as3 air for android using flash CS5 my problem: testing an AIR app on my droid 2 global (with slide out keyboard) using stage.addEventListener(StageOrientationEvent.ORIENTATION_CHANGE, handleOrientationChange); this is only fired when the i slide the keyboard out and not when I rotate the phone. I have tried this with the auto orientation on and off and with the aspect to portrait and landscape. actually the auto orientation option does not seem to make a difference on or off. I need the orientation to change when i rotate the phone. I know i can use the accelerometer to do this but the problem with that is when I click on a textField with the keyboard closed only the vertical keyboard pops up and i need the other one to pop up when holding the phone sideways.

• subviews show confused rotated state after a modal dialog is displayed

  I've created a custom UIViewController that mimics the UISplitViewController. It manages two child view controllers that get displayed in the left & right body area while in landscape and hides the left to show in a popover when in portrait. It works fine, using the didRotateFromInterfaceOrientation: and willRotateToInterfaceOrientation: messages to reset the location and sizing of the child views. All the views and child controllers are loaded from a nib. This custom view controller is shown inside a UINavigationController. The trouble arises after one of the child view controllers uses presentModalViewController. If the device was rotated after the views were initialized (but before the modal controller is shown), after the modal dialog is dismissed, the left and/or body views will be re-rendered in a different rotation than they were before the modal dialog was changed. I'm wondering if folks have had a similar problem, and what the solution is. I'm sure sample code would be helpful, but it'll take a bunch of work to distill it into a runnable sample.

• SSRS 2008 Report.GetDefaultPageSettings returns incorrect information

  I have an application that retrieves a report from SSRS 2008 and prints it automatically. This works except it always prints the report in Letter/Portrait. This particular report is Letter/Landscape. I have tracked the problem down to when calling the Report.GetDefaultPageSettings() function for this report, it returns PaperSize.Height = 1100 and PaperSize.Width = 850. I even modified the report to a custom size of 11" x 8.4" and it still returns 850 for the width. I cannot get this to print correctly when it renders the image incorrectly based on these settings. The report prints correctly when accessed by a web browser. It is only when I am trying to automatically print it that the issue appears.

  I am working with the sample Home application project on http://developer.android.com/resources/samples/Home/index.html I've added another value to the THUMBS_IDS and IMAGE_IDS Integer arrays in the Wallpaper class for a total of four wallpaper options. When I run the application with Device API version 7, Skin: HVGA, hw.lcd.density: 160, in portrait layout, the fourth wallpaper option is not shown. I need to use the directional keys in the emulator to see the 4th wallpaper option, because the first option is centered. I have modified only the wallpaper.xml file with a variety of android:layout_* options with no success at this point. How do I show all four of my wallpaper options?

• I need a simple slideshow for images of different sizes

  I'm looking for a very basic slideshow which displays images of various sizes. For example, the first image could be a standard 800x600 but the next might be a taller portrait image and so on. The slideshow doesn't need to have any controls. The specification just states that the page will be black and in the centre there'll be the area where images will display. As far as I know, it will be very simple like this - www.jeffcutter.net. I'm limited on time here so I'm not able to look into writing a custom one or anything like that. • Affine Transforms with Demo App

  I have a demo app here https://github.com/rdetert/image-transform-test After importing an image, you can pinch, zoom, rotate the image. What I want to do is save out a 640x480 image (landscape mode) that looks identical to the live preview. So if there are 100px bars of empty space on the sides, I need the same empty bars in the final output (scaled appropriately). This is proving to be more difficult than I thought it would be. I can't quite get it to come out right after days of working on it. The magic method that generates the final image is called -(void)generateFinalImage Good luck! ;)

  Sorry for the extremely bad title, I have no other idea what to call this question. What I'm trying to do is this: have a RelativeLayout which has two children: one with layout_centerInParent="true" one with layout_alignParentBottom="true" However, when the device is in landscape mode, element (1) appears slightly over or under element (2). But, element (1) has enough space above it to appear above element (2). How could I make the layout so that if the screen is too small to center element (1) and make both elements not overlap, then align element (1) above (as in layout_above) element (2)?
