• NSInvalidArgumentException when updating WebView from AppDelegate

  I had to do an update in my WebView from the Appdelegate.m I try it like this: [self performSelectorOnMainThread:@selector(loadWebViewWithContent:) withObject:requestObj waitUntilDone:NO]; The loadWebViewWithContent Method works great from ViewController.m, but not from the Appdelegate. I allready wrote this in my Appdelegate.h: -(void)loadWebViewWithContent:(NSURLRequest *)requestObj; Whats wrong? Please help me. I´m still a big Noob in IOS. • BATCH - wait for executable to finish before starting next result

  I'm pretty much a noob at this, so any help is appreciated. I'm trying to run the video transcoding executable REDline on all .R3D files in a given folder. REDline only accepts single files, which is the issue. I finally got it to search recursively for the files I need, but my problem is the search function passes the next result to REDline before the first one is finished transcoding. I have the search results that need to run in a variable inside REDline. Here's the code: for /r D:\folder\ %%a in (*) do ( "C:/Program Files/REDCINE-X PRO 64-bit/REDLine.exe" --exportPreset "Prores_Intermediate" --i "%%~dpnxa" --useRSX 2 --masterRMDFolder "" -s 0 -e 95 ) After about .7 seconds, REDline reports 'received stop message from client'. I don't think this is a REDline error, as I have been able to transcode single files successfully. Thanks.

• Using JQuery Lightbox within AJAX loaded content

  Hey. So this is probably a very noob problem but I'm not good enough to fix it. Basically... I have a gallery that I am loading into the page via AJAX. It looks simply like this: <div id="gallery"> <a href="Image1.jpg"><img src="Image1Thumb.jpg" /></a> <a href="Image2.jpg" title=""><img src="Image2Thumb.jpg" /></a> </div> But because it's being loaded in as AJAX content, JQuery/Lightbox is not working and I've no idea how can I get the script to run/recognise this newly loaded content. • VB.NET 2008 Application crashing during Do Loop

  I am writing an application to compare each item on listbox1 to all items on listbox2. If the item is found, then remove it from both lists. The goal is to only have the items that were not found remain on both lists. The problem is, the application just hangs and I never get any results. I looked at my code several times and I cannot figure out what's going on (programming noob I know...). Can anybody help me with this?   Hey guys quick question, I am kind of a noob at administering my server right now. I was just wondering if anyone could let me know what I was doing wrong in trying to enable mod_deflate. I have Apache 2.0+ and tried the code in my htaccess file AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE text/html text/plain text/xml text/css <FilesMatch "\\.(js|css|html|htm|php|xml)$"> SetOutputFilter DEFLATE </FilesMatch> It did not compress any of my files when I tested my site in firebug. • How do I create an editable databound combo box in a DataGrid in WinForm

I have a WinForm (.net 2.0 in VS 2008) on my from I have a DataGrid One of the fields in that datagrid is a combo box that is bound to a separate table. this works, but I am unable to edit or add, I cannot add a value that is not on the list. I am looking to create a lookup box for lack of a better term. The form is for Parts Order Entry In the data Grid Data Source is PartsOrder_table, the Work order Field is a int in the PartsOrder_table, and the combo box is bound to the WorkOrder_table. The WorkOPRder_Table has WorkOrd_ID int and WrkOrd nvarchar(10) the Combo Box Data Source is WorkOrd_Table Display Member is WorkOrd Value Member is WorkOrder_ID This works great with the problem that I cannot add or select anything not in WorkOrder_table. • Find -type d with no subfolders

  Good morning ! This is a simple one I believe, but I am still a noob :) I am trying to find all folders with a certain name. I am able to do this with the command find /path/to/look/in/ -type d | grep .texturedata The output gives me lots of folders like this : /path/to/look/in/.texturedata/v037/animBMP But I would like it to stop at .texturedata : /path/to/look/in/.texturedata/ I have hundreds of these paths and would like to lock them down by piping the output of grep into chmod 000 I was given a command with the argument -dpe once, but I have no idea what it does and the Internet has not be able to help me determine it's usage Thanks you very much for your help !

Do I just: Put the argparse.py file along with my project. That is, in the tar file for my project. Create a package for it for my distro? Tell the user to install it himself? • How to restore files that were removed by git?

  I am a git noob and git just deleted a bunch of important files. How do I get them back? I have a repo on my local machine. To get into git, I just right click my project folder and select "git bash here". This brings up the master where I do all my giting. So I had some changes to stage and I did: git add . This staged a bunch of changes. I noticed that I didn't want some of these staged so I decided that I'd try to unstage everthing. I did this: git reset --hard HEAD^ This basically deleted a bunch of files that I had made on the last commit and jumped to the commit before. How do I get those files back? If I can't do it through git is there another way?

  Ok I'm trying to make search terms bold in this search script I'm making, except I can't get it to work case insensitive. function highlight($term,$target){ $terms = explode(" ", $term); foreach($terms as $term){ $result = (eregi_replace($term, "<strong>$term</strong>", $target)); } return $result; } That is the function I have so far.. It says on PHP.net that eregi_replace is case insensitive matching but it's obviously not working for some reason. (I'm a noob). Any ideas? :D

  sorry for my noob question, I'm currently writing a perl web application with sqlite database behind it. I would like to be able to show in my app query results which might get thousands of rows - these should be split in pages - routing should be like /webapp/N - where N is the page number. what is the correct way to query the sqlite db using DBI, in order to fetch only the relavent rows. for instance, if I show 25 rows per page so I want to query the db for 1-25 rows in the first page, 26-50 in the second page etc.... • java - reduce external jar file size

  Hi all, still learning, so be patient :) I've developed a module for a Java project. The module depends on external library (fastutil). the problem is, the fastutil.jar file is a couple of times heavier than the whole project itself (14 MB). I only use a tiny subset of the classes from the library. the module is now finished, and no-one is likely to extend it in future. is there a way I could extract only the relevant class to some fastutil_small.jar so that others don't have to download all this extra weight? there's probably a simple answer to this, but as I said, I still consider myself a noob. If it doesnt seem obvious yet, I want to be able to go to wiki.khpedia.com/index.php and see wiki.khpedia.com/wiki/index.php but not in my address bar.   Hi all, Im trying to rename some files in a directory using python. I've looked around the forums here, and because i'm a noob, I cant adapt what I need from what is out there. Say I have a file called CHEESE_CHEESE_TYPE.*** and want to remove "Cheese_" so my resulting filename would be "CHEESE_TYPE" Im trying to use the os.path.split but it's not working properly. I have also considered using string manipulations, but have not been successful with that either. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  Good day! I have 2 Projects in my Eclipse. MainActivity1 and MainActivity2 are the names of the activities. The MainActivity2 is connected to the MainActivity1 via Project in the properties of the MainActivity1. So far, I can call the package of the MainActivity2 from the MainActivity1. Now, below are my problem: I have a button in MainActivity1. What I want to do is after I click on the button in the MainActivity1, it runs the MainActivity2 project and some variables will be passed on to the MainActivity2. I've been searching in google for a while now and I couldn't get the right keyword for it. I've checked some of the questions here in StackOverflow but I'm unable to locate the problem similar to mine with calling and running the MainActivity2 class from the MainActivity1.java I'm a noob in Android Java but have knowledge in other OOP. • Run ajaxed javascript

  I know this has been covered a few times, but I'm completely a noob when it comes to javascript so I have no idea what I'm doing. I am running a javascript that sends variables to a php file and that info is ajaxed into the current page using innerhtml. Here is that part of the code... `function givingHistory(dyear,did) { var divname="giving" + dyear; $.ajax({ url: 'finance/givinghistory.php', type: 'POST', data: { year: dyear, id: did }, success: function(givedata) { document.getElementById(divname).innerHTML = givedata; } }); } ` In the givedata function response from the php file there is a call to another javascript function that is already loaded in my common .js file (so both javascript functions are loaded when the page loads). How do I get the onClick that is added via innerhtml to work? Inside the php file, I check to see if id = a php session variable. If it does it spits out the text that includes the onClick.

• how to convert avi (xvid) to mkv or mp4 (h264)

  Very noob when it comes to video. I'm trying to make sense of what I"m finding via Google... but its mostly Greek to me. I have a bunch of Avi files that won't play in my WD TV Play box. Mediainfo tells me they are xvid. Specs for the box show that should be fine... but digging through forums says its hit-and-miss. So I'd like to try converting them to h264 encoded MKV or mp4 files. I gather avconv is the tool, but reading the manual just has me really really confused. I tried the very basic example of: avconv -i file.avi -c copy file.mp4 it took less than 4 seconds. And it worked... sort of. It "played" in that something came up on the screen... but there was horrible artifacting and scenes would just sort of melt into each other. I want to preserve quality if possible. I'm not concerned about file size. I'm not terribly concerned with the time it takes either, provided I can do them in a batch. Can someone familiar with the process please give me a command with the options? Thank you for your help. • Best way to remote restart Ubuntu from Windows machine

  Background: I'm looking to put a series of Ubuntu machines into retail locations, they're being used as dumb kiosks to show a series of slides onto large LCD panel TV screens. Once installed, they won't have a keyboard or mouse connected but will have a fixed IP on the local network. Everything is configured to auto-start, no automatic updates, no power saving etc - I think we're pretty-much good to go apart from one thing. I need the retail staff to be able to restart the boxes if a problem arises. We have VNC running (now that we've turned off desktop enhancements!) so that we can remotely get into the machines if we need to, but that's not something we would allow the retail staff to do. The machines are going to be physically 'out of the way' (probably in the ceiling space) so the power button is not easily accessible!. I'd like to have some means of allowing the retail staff to restart the Ubuntu machine, from the desktop of one of their Windows terminals. I don't really want to give them some kind of raw terminal access (the command line will frighten them!) and I don't want them to use VNC (as stated above). Ideally there would be an icon on the Windows desktop, they double-click it, reply to a simple 'are you sure?' prompt, and then the Ubuntu box is told to restart. The Windows side of that won't be a problem, we can write something using Delphi, Python & Qt4, whatever - it's the Ubuntu side of it I'm stuck with. Out of sight/view, could I have a Windows program open a terminal across the network and tell Ubuntu to restart? Is this what SSH could be used for (I have never set that kind of thing up). The Windows programming side isn't really an issue, it's just that I'm a total Ubuntu noob and don't know where to start from the platform point of view. The other thing we considered is also having the machine automatically restart itself at a set time each day (obviously out of store hours!). To me, that seems a bit unnecessary (though forcing a restart once a week/month might be worthwhile). Any thoughts or suggestions? Being able to restart the box on demand across the network is my prime requirement.

  General This may sound like a typical noob statement, but I’m finding out in a very real way that just because you have a solution to a problem, doesn’t necessarily mean it is the best solution. This was reiterated to me when a friend of mine suggested I look at using Dictionaries instead of Lists for a particular problem – he was right, I have always just assumed that because lists solved my problem I did not need to look elsewhere. So my new manifesto to counter this ageless problem is as follows… Look for a solution that will logically work Once you have a solution look for possible alternatives Decide why your current solution is the best approach compared to the alternatives If it is.. use it till something better comes along, if it isnt…. change What’s the difference between Lists & Dictionaries Both lists and dictionaries are used to store collections of data. Assume we had the following declarations… var dic = new Dictionary<string, long>(); var lst = new List<long>(); long data;   With a list, you simply add the item to the list and it will add the item to the end of the list. lst.Add(data); With a dictionary, you need to specify some sort of key and the data you want to add so that it can be uniquely identified. dic.Add(uniquekey, data);   Because with a dictionary you now have unique identifier, in the background they provide all sort’s of optimized algorithms to find your associated data. What this means is that if you are wanting to access your data it is a lot faster than a List. So when is it appropriate to use either class? For me, if I can guarantee that each item in my collection will have a unique identifier, then I will use Dictionaries instead of Lists as there is a considerable performance benefit when accessing each data item. If I cannot make this sort of guarantee, then by default I will use a list. I know this is all really basic, and I hope I haven’t missed some fundamental principle… If anyone would like to add their 2 cents, please feel free to do so…

• Did I choose proper career path? [closed]

  I am a C# Junior. My company has it's own enterprise documents-flow system written, my job along with 10 other programmers is to write modules/add-ons for it. I am totally bored of this job, I dont like Microsoft's technologies stack (dont hate me here, just subjective), but it's plain boring, enterprise is boring (subjective again, everyone's tastes differ), days on this work last long and I am tired of it. In short - I dont like my job. In my spare time I am doing PHP-development and I totally like it. I am also doing web-design, so I am LAMP-kind of guy who loves his Ubuntu and does design aswell. I know that most programmers don't do design themselves, so some person is either all about design or all about coding, but I enjoy both and do both. I often get interesting sites orders, I love to make whole websites with all the design, I love the feeling of site completeness, I enjoy talking with customers. I like that PHP is simple and skill cap is lower than one of java, meaning I can become expert in it after some years. But C# (and J2EE also) pay more, and I am doing really good in C#. But I dont like it. I can go for J2EE, platform itself seems more fun to me rather than .NET, but EE development is still boring to me. But it seems higher payed, easier to find job (since PHP is too common for its easiness. But if you are expert in something it doesnt matter, right? Just a higher skillcap.) Question: I want to go on with freelance. I want to have an opportunity to start my own startup in web. Actually I have a browser-game already written by myself, it earns me around 500$ per month which I am really proud of since I am 21 only and still noob in coding. I want to find part-time PHP job. 3 days per week so I can get some stable income, I can work in team and learn from them, social factor matters aswell as ensurance and diversity. I also want my total income (freelance + part-time job + own startup maybe)to be not too much less than one I have working in EE development sector. Maximum of 25% lower, but not more. Is it all possible if I stick with web-development (LAMP + HTML/CSS/JS/Jquery/AJAX)? Or is it easier to reach my goals with EE development?

• PowerShell: New-PSDrive error handling

  Hello, I have a script where I mount with the command "New-PSDrive" a network drive. Now, since the script is running as a "cronjob" on a server I want to have some error detection. If for any reason the command New-PSDrive fails the script should stop executing and notify that something went wrong. I have the following code: Try { New-PSDrive -Name A -PSProvider FileSystem -Root \\server\share } Catch { ... handle error case ... } ... other code ... For testing reasons I specified a wrong server name and I get the following error "New-PSDrive : Drive root "\wrongserver\share" does not exist or it's not a folder". Which is OK since the server does not exists. But the script does not go into the Catch clause and stop. It happily continues to run and ends up in a mess since no drive is mounted :-) So my question, why? Is there any difference in Exception handling in PowerShell? I should also note that I'm a noob in PowerShell scripting. Bye, Martin

• Address (url) forwarding with Vyatta

  Hi Got this kind of noob question i suppose. I got this very basic network setup and need help to set up some address forwarding. As seen in my illustration below all traffic enters via the eth0 interface (85.123.32.23). The external dns is setup to direct all hosts to this ip as well. Now, how on earth do I filter the incoming requests to each box? The Ip's are static! Se the network layout here: http://vyatta.org/files/u11160/setup.png I do not wish to solve this by assigning tons of ports etc. In my wishful thinking something like this would be nice :) set service nat rule 10 type destination set service nat rule 10 inbound-interface eth0 set service nat rule 10 destination address ftp.myhost.com set service nat rule 10 inside-address address 192.168.100.20 This way ALL traffic to the address ftp.myhost.com (at eth0) should be routed to the internal ip, 192.168.100.20. Right, is there anyone who could point in some direction? Maybe it's wrong to use nat? Please help me! :)
