  • C++ Serialization Clean XML Similar to XSTREAM

    I need to write a linux c++ app which saves it settings in XML format (for easy hand editing) and also communicates with existing apps through XML messages over sockets and HTTP. Problem is that I haven't been able to find any intelligent libs to help me, I don't particular feel like writing DOM or SAX code just to write and read some very simple messages. Boost Serialization was almost a match, but it adds a lot of boost-specific data to the xml it generates. This obviously doesn't work well for interchange formats. I'm wondering if it is possible to make Boost Serialization or some other c++ serialization library generate clean xml. I don't mind if there are some required extra attributes - like a version attribute, but I'd really like to be able to control their naming and also get rid of 'features' that I don't use - tracking_level and class_id for instance. Ideally I would just like to have something similar to xstream in Java. I am aware of the fact that c++ lacks introspection and that it is therefore necessary to do some manual coding - but it would be nice if there was a clean solution to just read and write simple XML without kludges! If this cannot be done I am also interested in tools where the XML schema is the canonical resource (contract first) - a good JAXB alternative to C++. So far I have only found commercial solutions like CodeSynthesis XSD. I would prefer open source solutions. I have tried gSoap - but it generates really ugly code and it is also SOAP-specific. In desperation I also started looking at alternative serialization formats for protobuffers. This exists - but only for Java! It really surprises me that protocol buffers seems to be a better supported data interchange format than XML. I'm going mad just finding libs for this app and I really need some new ideas. Anyone?

    When I first started working at the company that i work at now, I created a java application that would run batches of jasper-reports. In order to determine which parameters to use for each report in the set of reports, I run a sql query (on sqlserver). I wrote the application to take an xml file with a set of parameters for each report to be generated in the set. so, my process has become, effectively, three steps: run the sql query and return the results in XML format (using 'for XML auto') run the results of the sql query through an XSLT transformation so the xml is formatted in such a way that is friendly with the java application i wrote. run the java application with that final xml file As you can imagine, what I'd like to do is accomplish these steps in python, but i'm not quite sure how to get started. I know how to run an SQL query in Python. I see plenty of documentation about how to write your own xml document with Python. I even see documentation for xsl transformations in python. the big question is how to get the results of the sql query in XML through python. Any and all pointers would be very valuable.   • Download/update webpages listed in XML sitemap

    I'm searching a FLOSS tool that downloads all pages (and embedded resources, e.g. images) linked in a XML sitemap (built according to http://www.sitemaps.org/). The tool should "crawl" the sitemap regularly and look for new and deleted URLs and changes in the lastmod element. So whenever a page gets added/deleted/updated, the tool should apply the changes. Some sitemaps list sub-sitemaps in sitemapindex?sitemap. The tool should understand this and load all linked sub-sitemaps and look for URLs in there. I know there are tools that allow me to extract all URLs from the sitemap, so that I could feed them to wget or similar tools (see for example: Extract Links from a sitemap(xml)). But this wouldn't help in getting noticed about updates to pages. Tracking the webpages itself for updates doesn't work, because "secondary" content on the pages changes daily, but lastmod gets only updated when relevant content changed.

    Good morning, I would like it so when a link is clicked on the homepage it would load a particular xml file into the next page (the page is called category-list.apsx). This category list page uses the Repeater Control method to display the xml details on the page.     Hey all, I have this SimpleXMLElement object with a XML setup similar to the following... $xml <<< EOX <books> <book> <name>ABCD</name> </book> </books> EOX; $sx = new SimpleXMLElement( $xml ); Now I have a class named Book that contains info. about each book. The same class can also spit out the book info. in XML format akin the the above (the nested block).. example, $book = new Book( 'EFGH' ); $book->genXML(); ... will generate <book> <name>EFGH</name> </book> Now I'm trying to figure out a way by which I can use this generated XML block and append as a child of so that now it looks like... for example.. // Non-existent member method. For illustration purposes only. $sx->addXMLChild( $book->genXML() ); ...XML tree now looks like: <books> <book> <name>ABCD</name> </book> <book> <name>EFGH</name> </book> </books> From what documentation I have read on SimpleXMLElement, addChild() won't get this done for you as it doesn't support XML data as tag value.     I currently have a PDF file without any ToC (for example, in Mac's Preview.app, I can't see the ToC in the sidebar). But I have the TOC in XML format, where there is a title and a pagenumber where that section starts. Is there any way I can add that TOC to my PDF file in a batch way? Since I have the TOC in XML, I can basically parse it in any possible way, so if there were a command line to add an TOC item to a PDF, I could also do that. Any ideas?

I don't know how to get it to get the info in, I can display a simple XML page, as suggested here: http://www.kirupa.com/web/xml_php_parse_intermediate.htm but I am trying to in PHP get this to display what's in the XML pages or display this output: "Sorry. No schedule page is available" if the XML is blank, as above. Anyone able to help me fix this? I've tried and tried but it's baffling me... Thanks.

    I'm receiving XML sent via POST. Naturally I need to parse this XML to get at the goodies it holds for me. However, when I receive the XML is seems that PHP is parsing it like a query string. For example, this xml: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <ForgotPassword> <version>1.0</version> <authentication> <login>myresllerid</login> <apikey>1234567890abcdef</apikey> </authentication> <parameters> <emailAddress>[email protected]</emailAddress> </parameters> </ForgotPassword> Becomes this (from print_r($_REQUEST)): Array ( [ <?xml_version] => "1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <IDCForgotPassword> <version>1.0</version> <authentication> <login>myresllerid</login> <apikey>1234567890abcdef</apikey> </authentication> <parameters> <emailAddress>[email protected]</emailAddress> </parameters> </IDCForgotPassword> ) You can see the XML is being broken up at the first equals sign (=) in the XML into a key/value pair. How do I avoid this?

  • XML Decryption Bug (referencing issue)

    Hi, Needing some explanation of what exactly the decryption is doing, in addition to some help on solving the problem. Currently, when a portion of XML is encrypted, and then decrypted, the DOM appears to work correctly. We can see the element is encrypted and then see it return back once it is decrypted. Our problem lies when a user tries to change data in that same element after decryption has occurred. When a user changes some settings, data in the XML should change. However, if the user attempts to change an XML element that has been decrypted the changes are not reflected in the DOM. We have a reference pointer to the XML element that is used to bind the element to an object. If you encrypt the node and then decrypt it, the reference pointer now points to a valid orphaned XML element that is no longer part of the DOM. After decryption, there will be 2 copies of the XML element. One in the DOM as expected (though will not reflect new changes), and one orphaned element in memory that is still referenced by our pointer. The orphaned element is valid (reflects new changes). We can see that this orphaned element is owned by the DOM, but when we try to return its parent, it returns null. The question is: Where did this orphaned xml element come from? And how can we get it to correctly append (replace old data) to the DOM?     Right so I have a simple app that consists of a calendar a Set Event button and list box that populates using a DataTemplate in WPF. When I build the app the Events.xml file is like this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <events> </events> I add events to xml through code. Final structure of the xml file is the following <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <events> <event Name="Some Name"> <startDate>20.03.2010</startDate> <endDate>29.03.2010</endDate> </event> </event> Now here's my problem. If I update the app and deploy it with Click Once and the app updates it self, I lose the list because the new file is empty. Any workaround this?     I am writing a bit of code that appends my site nav with and extra ul that gives a description about where that link takes you. I need to use our CMS's built in Nav structure so appending via jQuery was the best solution, and XML makes the data easier to manage. My question is this: is there a more efficient way to write out the js?     My company uses an internal management software for storing products. They want to transpose all the products in a MySql database so they can do available their products on the company website. Notice: they will continue to use their own internal software. This software can exports all the products in various file format (including XML). The syncronization not have to be in real time, they are satisfied to syncronize the MySql database once a day (late night). Also, each product in their software has one or more images, then I have to do available also the images on the website.     Are there any good (Linux) tools for diffing two XML files? Ideally, I would like to be able configure it to some things strict, or loosen some things, like whitespace, or attribute order. I'll often care that the files are functionally the same, but diff by itself, would be annoying to use, especially if the XML file doesn't have a lot of linebreaks.   • Java saying XML Document Not Well Formed

    Hey all. Java's XML parser seems to be thinking that my XML document is not well formed following the root element, but I've validated it with several tools and they all disagree. It's probably an error in my code rather than in the document itself, I'd really appreciate any help you all could offer me.
