• SPWorkflowCollection on SPListItem is always empty

  Hi I'm having a problem relating to Sharepoint workflows and the associated task list. I have 2 custom workflows that we created for our product. They both use the same Task list that has a custom content type that inherits from the Task content type. Now I have a case where a running workflow has been deleted via the list has been deleted or the document, this results in orphaned tasks. I want to overwrite the Task lists OnDeleting event, so that users can cleanup their tasks so that it won't contain unneccessary orphaned tasks. So my item deleting looks like this public override void ItemDeleting(SPItemEventProperties properties) { SPListItem currentListItem = properties.ListItem; } The problem is that when I go into debug mode and check the currentListItem.Workflows.Count field then it's always 0. It doesn't matter which workflow I initiate or what task i look at, the SPWorkflowCollection returned is always empty :( I was wondering if this might be related to a bug in our custom workflow where it's not wired up properly (but it finishes correctly and tasks are deleted when a workflow is terminated) or am I looking at this the wrong way ?

So far I havent got as far as dealing with the count as I'm getting a huge number of results with some 250+ per customer. I assume this is to do with the way I'm joining tables. Schema wise the booking_record table contains a tour reference code, which links to tour_hotel which then contains a hotelcode which links to hotelrecord. This hotelrecord table contains the hotelgroup. The client table is joined to the booking_record via a booking reference and a client may have many bookings. If anyone could suggest a way for me to do this I'd be very grateful and hopefully learn enough to do it myself next time! I've been scratching my head over this one for a few hours now! • How to handle large dataset with JPA (or at least with Hibernate)?

  I need to make my web-app work with really huge datasets. At the moment I get either OutOfMemoryException or output which is being generated 1-2 minutes. Let's put it simple and suppose that we have 2 tables in DB: Worker and WorkLog with about 1000 rows in the first one and 10 000 000 rows in the second one. Latter table has several fields including 'workerId' and 'hoursWorked' fields among others. What we need is: count total hours worked by each user; list of work periods for each user. The most straightforward approach (IMO) for each task in plain SQL is: 1) select Worker.name, sum(hoursWorked) from Worker, WorkLog where Worker.id = WorkLog.workerId group by Worker.name; //results of this query should be transformed to Multimap<Worker, Long> 2) select Worker.name, WorkLog.start, WorkLog.hoursWorked from Worker, WorkLog where Worker.id = WorkLog.workerId; //results of this query should be transformed to Multimap<Worker, Period> //if it was JDBC then it would be vitally //to set resultSet.setFetchSize (someSmallNumber), ~100 So, I have two questions: how to implement each of my approaches with JPA (or at least with Hibernate); how would you handle this problem (with JPA or Hibernate of course)?

  My job is the maintain one application which heavy use SQL server (MSSQL2005). Until now middle server stores TSQL codes in XML and send dynamic TSQL queries without using stored procs. As I am able change those XML queries I want to migrate most of my queries to stored procs. Question is folowing: Most of my queries have same Where conditions against one table Sample: Select ..... from .... where .... and (a.vrsta_id = @vrsta_id or @vrsta_id = 0) and (a.podvrsta_id = @podvrsta_id or @podvrsta_id = 0) and (a.podgrupa_2 = @podgrupa2_id or @podgrupa2_id = 0) and ( (a.id in (select art_id from osobina_veze where podosobina_id in (select ado from dbo.fn_ado_param_int(@podosobina)) group by art_id having count(art_id)= @podosobina_count )) or ('0' = @podosobina) ) They also have same where conditions on other table. How I should organize my code ? What is proper way ? Should I make table valued function that I will use in all queries or use #Temp tables and simple inner join my query to that each time when proc executing? or use #temp filed by table valued function ? or leave all queries with this large where clause and hope that index is going to do their jobs. or use WITH(statement)

• Create a new delegate class for each asynchronous image download?

  First, I'm using an NSURLConnection to download JSON data from twitter. Then, I'm using a second NSURLConnection to download corresponding user avatar images (the urls to the images are parsed from the first data download). For the first data connection, I have my TwitterViewController set as the NSURLConnection delegate. I've created a separate class (ImageDownloadDelegate) to function as the delegate for a second NSURLConnection that handles the images. After the tweets are finished downloading, I'm using this code to get the avatars: for(int j=0; j<[self.tweets count]; j++){ ImageDownloadDelegate *imgDelegate = [[ImageDownloadDelegate alloc] init]; Tweet *myTweet = [self.tweets objectAtIndex:j]; imgDelegate.tweet = myTweet; imgDelegate.table = timeline; NSURLRequest* request = [NSURLRequest requestWithURL:[NSURL URLWithString:myTweet.imageURL] cachePolicy:NSURLRequestUseProtocolCachePolicy timeoutInterval:60]; imgConnection = [[NSURLConnection alloc] initWithRequest:request delegate:imgDelegate]; [imgDelegate release]; } So basically a new instance of the delegate class is created for each image that needs to be downloaded. Is this the best way to go about this? But then there's no way to figure out which image is associate with which tweet, correct? The algorithm works fine... I'm just wondering if I'm going about it the most efficient way.

I've tried using the addItemsWithObjectValues outside the for loop along with the suggestions at this question: Is this the right way to add items to NSCombobox in Cocoa ? But still no luck. If you can't tell, I'm trying to combine two strings from the files with a hyphen in between them and then put that new string into the combo box. There are over 400 codes and matching names in the two files, so manually putting them in would be a huge chore, not to mention, I don't see what would be causing this problem. The compiler shows no warnings or errors, and in the IB, I have it set to use the internal list, but when I run it, the list is not populated unless I do it manually. Some things I thought might be causing it: Being in the applicationDidFinishLaunching: method Having the string and array variables declared as instance variables in the header (along with @property and @synth done to them) Messing around with using appendString multiple times with NSMutableArrays Nothing seems to be causing this to me, but maybe someone else will know something I don't. Used in the above example this would be similar to this: 'http://www.example.com/product.php?page=[1-3]&sortOn=sellprice' So far i have been unable to reference this correctly. • I made a horrible loop.... help fix my logic please

  I know I'm doing this a bad way... but I'm having trouble seeing any alternatives. I have an array of products that I need to select 4 of randomly. $rawUpsellList is an array of all of the possible upsells based off of the items in their cart. Each value is a product object. I guess that's a problem with the pointers, but isn't what I wrote above supposed to be true?

However, printing the array in CodeIgniter, it has no value for one field ,seven_profit, where it is there in the SQL query ran in phpMyAdmin, just the discrepancy in this one field, from sql to php array... I just can’t see why, when printing the array, that one field, which should have value of 26, contains nothing? Any ideas? I changed the field name from starting with a number in attempt to fix it, but no difference. I know this is complex and looks horrible, any help or just people coming across something similar would be great to know about, thanks. Sam

The line throwing the error is: if(is_array($src2->crit) && count($src->crit) > 0){ $src2->crit is initialized here. $src2->crit = array(); $src2->crit[0] = new dataSet(); $src2->crit[0]->tblName = $tbl2; $src2->crit[0]->colName = "ID"; $src2->crit[0]->val = $elm->editID; When testing $src2->crit with this code. print("\$src->crit is a ".$src->crit."<br />"); print_r($src->crit); print("<br />"); This is returned. $src2->crit is a Array Array ( [0] => dataSet Object ( [tblName] => sExam [colName] => ID [val] => 10 ) ) What am I not seeing/understanding correctly? If print("\$src2->crit is a ".$src->crit."<br />") returns that it is an array then why is is_array($src2->$crit) generating an error?

  I've only just dipped my toe in the world of Haskell as part of my journey of programming enlightenment (moving on from, procedural to OOP to concurrent to now functional). I've been trying an online Haskell Evaluator. However I'm now stuck on a problem: Create a simple function that gives the total sum of an array of numbers. In a procedural language this for me is easy enough (using recursion) (c#) : private int sum(ArrayList x, int i) { if (!(x.Count < i + 1)) { int t = 0; t = x.Item(i); t = sum(x, i + 1) + t; return t; } } All very fine however my failed attempt at Haskell was thus: let sum x = x+sum in map sum [1..10] this resulted in the following error (from that above mentioned website): Occurs check: cannot construct the infinite type: a = a -> t Please bear in mind I've only used Haskell for the last 30 minutes! • Best way to detect similar email addresses?

  I have a list of ~20,000 email addresses, some of which I know to be fraudulent attempts to get around a "1 per e-mail" limit. ([email protected], [email protected], [email protected], etc...). I want to find similar email addresses for evaluation. Currently I'm using a levenshtein algorithm to check each e-mail against the others in the list and report any with an edit distance of less than 2. However, this is painstakingly slow. Is there a more efficient approach? • Complicated SQL query

  Please bare with me this is difficult to explain xD http://img90.imageshack.us/i/croppercapture1.png/ This is based on an undergraduate degree course where a student takes many units (say 4 core units and 1 optional unit per year). tblAwardCoreUnits and tblAwardOptUnits store which units are optional and core for which award, hence the relationship to tblAward and tblStudentCoreUnits and tblStudentOptUnits store the particular instances of those units which a particular student is taking. Secondly, a unit can have multiple events (say a lecture and a unit) and each of those events has sessions in which a student can attend, hence tblEvents, tblSessions and tblAttendances. The query I am trying to produce is to get a list of all level one students, grouped by their award that lists the percentage of attendances in all the units in the current level. I've tried and tried with this and the following is the best I've managed to come up with so far... I'd REALLY appreciate any help you can give with this! • Delphi: Problems with TList of Frames

  I'm having a problem with an interface that consists of a number of frames (normally 25) within a TScrollBox. There are 2 problems, and I am hoping that one is a consequence of the other... Background: When the application starts up, I create 25 frames, each containing approx. 20 controls, which are then populated with the default information. The user can then click on a control to limit the search to a subset of information at which point I free and recreate my frames (as the search may return < 25 records) The problem: If I quit the application after the initial search then it takes approx. 5 seconds to return to Delphi. After the 2nd search (and dispose / recreate of frames) it takes approx. 20 seconds) Whilst I could rewrite the application to only create the frames once, I would like to understand what is going on. • Silverlight Socket Constantly Returns With Empty Buffer

  I am using Silverlight to interact with a proxy application that I have developed but, without the proxy sending a message to the Silverlight application, it executes the receive completed handler with an empty buffer ('\0's). Is there something I'm doing wrong? • URL shortening: using inode as short name?

  The site I am working on wants to generate its own shortened URLs rather than rely on a third party like tinyurl or bit.ly. Obviously I could keep a running count new URLs as they are added to the site and use that to generate the short URLs. But I am trying to avoid that if possible since it seems like a lot of work just to make this one thing work. As the things that need short URLs are all real physical files on the webserver my current solution is to use their inode numbers as those are already generated for me ready to use and guaranteed to be unique. function short_name($file) { $ino = @fileinode($file); $s = base_convert($ino, 10, 36); return $s; } This seems to work. Question is, what can I do to make the short URL even shorter? On the system where this is being used, the inodes for newly added files are in a range that makes the function above return a string 7 characters long. Can I safely throw away some (half?) of the bits of the inode? And if so, should it be the high bits or the low bits? I thought of using the crc32 of the filename, but that actually makes my short names longer than using the inode. Would something like this have any risk of collisions? • lock shared data using c#

  Hi, I have a program (C#) with a list of tests to do. Also, I have two thread. one to add task into the list, and one to read and remove from it the performed tasks. I'm using the 'lock' function each time one of the threads want to access to the list. Another thing I want to do is, if the list is empty, the thread who need to read from the list will sleep. and wake up when the first thread add a task to the list. Here is the code I wrote: ...   Note that I'm aware of other yield in vb.net questions here on SO. I'm playing around with Caliburn lately. Bunch of great stuff there, including co-routines implementation. Most of the work I'm doing is C# based, but now I'm also creating an architecture guideline for a VB.NET only shop, based on Rob's small MVVM framework. Everything looks very well except using co-routines from VB. • Google Spreadsheet API problem: memory exceeded

  Hi guys, Don't know if anyone has experience with the Google Spreadsheets API or the Zend_GData classes but it's worth a go: When I try to insert a value in a 750 row spreadsheet, it takes ages and then throws an error that my memory limit (which is 128 MB!) was exceeded. I also got this when querying all records of this spreadsheet but this I can imaging because it's quite a lot of data. But why does this happen when inserting a row? That's not too complex, is it?
