  • Website ocasionally does not load on first click

    Today I noticed that my website hosted on a virtual server ocasionally does not load on first click. I click on some link, browser starts loading page but nothing loads and does not not appear any error message (like "connection reset by peer etc). Nothing. When I click the same link again, page loads immediately. The same situation on 2 computers in different browsers. It happends not always, maybe on each 20... or 30 click. Sites from other servers load without this problem. Any ideas what can cause this problem?

The map is so large that I'd very much like to be able to load and render the board and layered items in a Google Maps'esque. I'm curious as to whether there are existing libs that would be helpful and already well thought out in these regards vs trying to reinvent the wheel.   • Need to hookup HP dv7-3085dx with NVIDIA GeForce GT 230M to my Dell 30 inch LCD 3007WFP at max resolution

    I recently bought an HP laptop (dv7-3085dx) which is supposed to have a pretty good video card (NVIDIA GeForce GT 230M). The card is supposed to output a max resolution of 2560x1600 which is also the max resolution of my monitor. I've now bought an HDMI to dual link DVI cable - this is after Best Buy's 70 dollar HDMI to DVI (perhaps it was 'single' link?) didn't give me the best resolution. In Windows 7, when I try to set the max resolution for my 30" monitor, I only get 1280x800, which is absurd. The monitor is great, I love the laptop and the video card supposedly supports such resolutions. I therefore can't figure out why I'm not getting a better resolution. When I "detect" my monitor in Windows 7, it is shown correctly as a DELL 3007WFP!

Some solutions get the wireless connection working, but it goes very slow and drops after a few minutes. Then it won't reconnect and keeps asking for password. Hope you can help me.     As the title suggests I want to power two 2560 x 1440 monitors from one graphics card. I am just about to send my second graphics card back to Amazon, so before I purchase a 3rd incorrect card I thought I should get some advice. My latest card has dual DL-DVI output but only supports 2560 x 1440 on one output, the other maxes out at 1920 x 1080. Can graphics cards with two Dual Link DVI adapters (or alternately, one Dual Link DVI and one DisplayPort support the a full 2560 x 1440 on both monitors, or does that depend on the graphics hardware and not only the connectors?

    My laptop (Dell Inspiron 17R 5720) came with preinstalled Ubuntu 11.10. I removed it and installed 12.04. Now I can't find driver for wireless. Apparently, in 11.10 there was Broadcom-STA driver. But in 12.04 there is no additional drivers to install. I tried using: sudo m-a a-i broadcom-sta But building fails on 26%.   • Why do I see different TCP behaviour between IIS and FTP server applications on Windows 2003?

    I am comparing Wireshark traces of a 10MB file download file from: the FileZilla FTP server and IIS (using HTTP) on the same Windows 2003 server. The FTP download performs faster and the trace shows the server behaving as expected, sending more data to the client with every ACK received: Link to full-size image The HTTP server trace shows a more bursty pattern. The timing of the send bursts are sometimes unrelated to any ACKs received from the client (circled in red): Link to full-size image Anyone have a suggestion as to why IIS traffic is having like this? Update: We have tried modifying the http.sys registry settings (setting MaxBytesPerSend to 256k and MaxBufferedSendBytes to 64k as recommended). Changing MaxBytesPerSend does seem to improve performance by increasing the amount of in-flight data , but we still see the same bursty pattern.

  • What kind of redirect (301 or 302) for an email links tracker?

    We are developing an email sending application ("à la" Mailchimp). Hyperlinks inserted by our users, in the emails they want to send, are replaced by a tracking URL on our application (https://ourdomain.com/trackingurl?blablabla) which then redirects the email reader to the original URL our users included in their emails. This allows us to record statistics about link clicks. Until now, we used 301 for those redirections, but we noticed that Google began indexing pages on our application which are in fact redirects to other domains. (The title and snippet in Google results are from the other domain, but the link in green is from our application). We took action by adding those urls to our robots.txt, but Google seems to take forever (months!) before removing them for its index and removing them by hand in Webmaster Tools would take a lot of time since there are lot. I would like to know which kind of HTTP redirect (301 or 302) is best suited for this kind of opreation ? Do you think switching to 302 redirects could improve this situation since we don't really want Google to index redirected links from our clients emails ?

    In ipv4 I can set my DHCP server to populate DNS with hostnames and IP addresses as clients are found. This works well and clients can resolve these DNS addresses to contact eachother over routed subnets. How can this be done in ipv6 without DHCP? Link Local Multicast Name Resolution can allow clients on the same subnet to discover eachothers hostnames and match them to link-local addresses, but so far I can't find a way for clients to advertise their global or unique local addresses and hostnames to a DNS server to be resolved across subnets.
