• Strange Play Framework 2.2 exceptions after trying to add MySQL / slick

  I'm working on a Play 2.2 application, and things have gone a bit south on me since I've tried adding my DB layer. Below are my build.sbt dependencies. As you can see I use mysql-connector-java and play-slick: libraryDependencies ++= Seq( jdbc, anorm, cache, "joda-time" % "joda-time" % "2.3", "mysql" % "mysql-connector-java" % "5.1.26", "com.typesafe.play" %% "play-slick" % "0.5.0.8", "com.aetrion.flickr" % "flickrapi" % "1.1" ) My application.conf has some similarly simple DB stuff in it: db.default.url="jdbc:mysql://localhost/myDb" db.default.driver="com.mysql.jdbc.Driver" db.default.user="root" db.default.pass="" This is what it looks like when my Play server starts: [info] play - Listening for HTTP on /0:0:0:0:0:0:0:0:9000 (Server started, use Ctrl+D to stop and go back to the console...) • Objective-C Out of scope problem

  Hi, I'm having a few problems with some Objective-C and would appreciate some pointers. So I have a class MapFileGroup which has the following simple interface (There are other member variables but they aren't important): @interface MapFileGroup : NSObject { NSMutableArray *mapArray; } @property (nonatomic, retain) NSMutableArray *mapArray; mapArray is @synthesize'd in the .m file. It has an init method: -(MapFileGroup*) init { self = [super init]; if (self) { mapArray = [NSMutableArray arrayWithCapacity: 10]; } return self; } It also has a method for adding a custom object to the array: -(BOOL) addMapFile:(MapFile*) mapfile { if (mapfile == nil) return NO; mapArray addObject:mapfile]; return YES; } The problem I get comes when I want to use this class - obviously due to a misunderstanding of memory management on my part. In my view controller I declare as follows: (in the @interface): MapFileGroup *fullGroupOfMaps; With @property @property (nonatomic, retain) MapFileGroup *fullGroupOfMaps; Then in the .m file I have a function called loadMapData that does the following: MapFileGroup *mapContainer = [[MapFileGroup alloc] init]; // create a predicate that we can use to filter an array // for all strings ending in .png (case insensitive) NSPredicate *caseInsensitivePNGFiles = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"SELF endswith[c] '.png'"]; mapNames = [unfilteredArray filteredArrayUsingPredicate:caseInsensitivePNGFiles]; [mapNames retain]; NSEnumerator * enumerator = [mapNames objectEnumerator]; NSString * currentFileName; NSString *nameOfMap; MapFile *mapfile; while(currentFileName = [enumerator nextObject]) { nameOfMap = [currentFileName substringToIndex:[currentFileName length]-4]; //strip the extension mapfile = [[MapFile alloc] initWithName:nameOfMap]; [mapfile retain]; // add to array [fullGroupOfMaps addMapFile:mapfile]; } This seems to work ok (Though I can tell I've not got the memory management working properly, I'm still learning Objective-C); however, I have an (IBAction) that interacts with the fullGroupOfMaps later. It calls a method within fullGroupOfMaps, but if I step into the class from that line while debugging, all fullGroupOfMaps's objects are now out of scope and I get a crash. So apologies for the long question and big amount of code, but I guess my main question it: How should I handle a class with an NSMutableArray as an instance variable? What is the proper way of creating objects to be added to the class so that they don't get freed before I'm done with them? Many thanks

• Why is drawing to OnPaint graphics faster than image graphics?

  I'm looking for a way to speed up the drawing of my game engine, which is currently the significant bottleneck, and is causing slowdowns. I'm on the verge of converting it over to XNA, but I just noticed something. Say I have a small image that I've loaded. Image img = Image.FromFile("mypict.png"); We have a picturebox on the screen we want to draw on. So we have a handler. pictureBox1.Paint += new PaintEventHandler(pictureBox1_Paint); I want our loaded image to be tiled on the picturebox (this is for a game, after all). Why on earth is this code: void pictureBox1_Paint(object sender, PaintEventArgs e) { for (int y = 0; y < 16; y++) for (int x = 0; x < 16; x++) e.Graphics.DrawImage(image, x * 16, y * 16, 16, 16); } over 25 TIMES FASTER than this code: Image buff = new Bitmap(256, 256, PixelFormat.Format32bppPArgb); // actually a form member void pictureBox1_Paint(object sender, PaintEventArgs e) { using (Graphics g = Graphics.FromImage(buff)) { for (int y = 0; y < 16; y++) for (int x = 0; x < 16; x++) g.DrawImage(image, x * 16, y * 16, 16, 16); } e.Graphics.DrawImage(buff, 0, 0, 256, 256); } To eliminate the obvious, I've tried commenting out the last e.Graphics.DrawImage (which means I don't see anything, but it gets rid a call that isn't in the first example). I've also left in the using block (needlessly) in the first example, but it's still just as blazingly fast. I've set properties of g to match e.Graphics - things like InterpolationMode, CompositingQuality, etc, but nothing I do bridges this incredible gap in performance. I can't find any difference between the two Graphics objects. What gives? My test with a System.Diagnostics.Stopwatch says that the first code snippet runs at about 7100 fps, while the second runs at a measly 280 fps. My reference image is VS2010ImageLibrary\Objects\png_format\WinVista\SecurityLock.png, which is 48x48 px, and which I modified to be 72 dpi instead of 96, but those made no difference either.

• getDate with Jquery Datepicker

  i am trying to get date from my implementation of jquery date picker, add it to a string and display the resulting image in my div. Something however is just not working. Can anyone check out the code and have a look at it? • How to make non-blurry image in WPF 3d

  I used Viewport3D and ModelVisual3D to create a simple rectangle with an image (I tried it with JPG, PNG), but it shows the image blurry, but the original image is very sharp and clear. I don't know how to make it with the original quality in 3D... I also tried some 2D solutions like RenderOptions.BitmapScalingMode and SnapsToDevicePixels but they do not seem to not work in the 3D case. Has anyone encountered this problem or know the solution?

  I'm working on sending out an html based email, and every time it sends the image src tags and some of the anchor href tags are modified to be relative url's. Update 2: This is happening between when the body of the email is generated and sent and when it arrives in my inbox. Update: I am using Postfix on a LAMPP server. In addition, I am using Zend_Mail to send the emails out. For 24 versions it has been working perfectly - now, on version 25 I get the following error once the application has installed and it launches: If I test a previous deployment on the same machine, it works. Where can I even begin to look to find the cause of this error? I already checked the windows event logs - nothing. I have searched patches and workaround all over the Internet to this,but I couldn't find any alternative for this. I'm out of my patience now. I want that virtual machine ready and I want to make a debug host cos I don't have some money to buy original neo 1937 hardware. The patch that I have found comes with a nasty error too. I'm so sick of it.Any idea how could I fix this problem and make this work? Please please I'm begging you somebody help me please. Thanks all.

• Forward event from custom UIControl subclass

  My custom subclass extend UIControl (MyCustomUIControl) Basically it contains 3 subviews: UIButton (UIButtonTypeCustom) UIImageView UILabel All the class works great but now I want to connect some events generated from this class to another. In particular when the button is pressed I want to forward the event to the owner viewcontroller so that I can handle the event. The problem is that I can't figure out how to implement this behaviour. Within EditableImageView I can catch the touch event using [button addTarget:self action:@selector(buttonPressed:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside] but I don't know how to forward it inside of the buttonPressed selector. I also tried to implement touchesBegan but it seems never called... • Where is my object allocation and memory leak in this iPhone/objective C code?

  Hello, I'm still a rookie when it comes to this programming gig and was wondering if someone could help me smooth out this code. Functionally, the code works great and does what I need it to do.   I have the following query, now the strange thing is if I run this query on my development and pre-prod server it runs fine. If I run it on production it fails. • Strange crashes when using MPMoviePlayerController in iPad and iPad simulator with iOS 4.2.

  I'm getting crashes when trying to play a movie using MPMoviePlayerController on the iPad and in the iPad simulator using iOS 4.2. I am building using xcode 3.2.5 and the 4.2 SDK. When running on an iPad using iOS 3.2 or in the iPad simulator 3.2, the same code works fine, but on an iPad running 4.2 or in the iPad simulator 4.2, it crashes. The crash is due to an exception for calling an unknown selector down somewhere deep in the cocoa libraries, something tries to call a selector called "setHitRectInsets:" on a UIButton object. Also, the crash happens after control has returned to the main event loop. Anybody have any idea what might be causing this?   I added following file deployers\jbossweb.deployer\server.xml <Connector compression="force" compressionMinSize="512" noCompressionUserAgents="gozilla, traviata" compressableMimeType="text/html,text/xml,image/png,text/css,text/javascript"> </Connector> But fiddler shows that jboss does not compress responses. How to ensure that gzip compression in JBoss is turned on? Is it possible to check it in jmx-console?
