• Finding a message in an archive in Kerio MailServer 6

  I need to locate some emails from the archive. Kerio is set to archive emails on a daily basis, keeping the last 2 months. From the mail log, I found entries like: [09/Oct/2012 18:02:20] Recv: Queue-ID: 5074589c-00004ddb, Service: SMTP, From: <info@XXXXXXXXXXXX>, To: <Suzette@xxxxxxxxxxx>, Size: 699, Sender-Host: mail.XXXXXXXXXXX, User: automailer@XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX I need to locate this specific email. The archive folder has a lot of ZIP files like: 2012-Oct-06 2012-Oct-07 2012-Oct-08 2012-Oct-09 ... I assumed this would be in the 2012-Oct-09 zip file. I extracted it, and the zip file contains a lot of emails in the /#msgs/ folder, named: 0000000a.eml 0000000b.eml 0000000c.eml ... I did a search for the last part of the Queue-ID, 00004ddb, but it returned no results. I tried other random searches for other emails in the mail log, but I couldn't find a single one. Any idea how one goes about finding such an email in the archive?

• Thunderbird message pane

  I have just switched from Outlook to Thunderbird and one feature that I am missing is when I would click a folder it would open a message in the message pane automatically. Now it is always blank. I have it set to remember the last one opened so if I switch back and forth it is there. But if I just click a folder the first time that I invoke it -- the message pane is blank. • Adding a virtual directory IIS 7.5 Windows 7 Ultimate x64

  Trying to get my IIS 7.5 playing nice with VS 2008 on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. I'm getting this error: System.Security.SecurityException: Request for the permission of type 'System.Web.AspNetHostingPermission, System, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed. This happens when accessing a virtual directory outside C:\inetpub\wwwroot. I'd like to be able to create virtual directories outside the root if I can. I've added the NETWORK SERVICE to the folder hosting the virtual directory, still no luck. This folder is on my C: drive, not a share. TIA

I found that Office 365 does not support application templates (am I right?) I tried to install the help desk template here and also the Help Desk here, but I didn't find a way. I've seen that there is a commercial app, but I'm interested in checking some other options (specially free options).

  Intro This is the first in a series of small articles about what is new in Silverlight 4 and Expression Blend 4. The series is build around a open source demo application SilverAmp which is available on http://SilverAmp.CodePlex.com.   MVVM Project and Item Templates Expression Blend has got a new project template to get started with a Model-View-ViewModel project  easily. The template provides you with a View and a ViewModel bound together. It also adds the ViewModel to the SampleData of your project. It is available for both Silverlight and Wpf. To get going, start a new project in Expression Blend and select Silverlight DataBound Application from the Silverlight project type. In this case I named the project DemoTest1. The solution now contains several folders: SampleData; which contains a data to show in Blend ViewModels; starts with one file, MainViewModel.cs Views; containing MainView.xaml with codebehind used for binding with the MainViewModel class. and your regular App.xaml and MainPage.xaml The MainViewModel class contains a sample property and a sample method. Both the property and the method are used in the MainView control. The MainView control is a regular UserControl and is placed in the MainPage. You can continue on building your applicaition by adding your own properties and methods to the ViewModel and adding controls to the View. Adding Views with ViewModels is very easy too. The guys at Microsoft where nice enough to add a new Item template too: a UserControl with ViewModel. If you add this new item to the root of your solution it will add the .xaml file to the views folder and a .cs file to the ViewModels folder. Conclusion The databound Application project type is a great to get your MVVM based project started. • Set-and-forget Windows backup software with NAS-support?

  Hi all, I am looking for set-and-forget backup software for Windows (Vista & 7, and if possible XP/2003). The idea is that it runs in the background on the clients, and does its thing towards a network-share. In case the HDD of one of these clients spontaneously combusts, all I want to have to do is: replace the drive, insert a USB-stick, boot from it, and restore the machine. It should support drives which use [ICH]-RAID. What are my options here? It looks like WHS meets all the requirements, but I am curious about my other options here.

  Howdie Scenario: Allow developers to submit new application packages to a market server. Developers run a bash script which contains a cURL call to market server (localhost/market/submit/$app-name). The submit script on the server creates a new folder in existing svn server with the name of the submitted app. Script on dev side waits for HTTP to issue a success message and then do a svn checkout in dev local machine. Problem: The submit script on the market server failed to create new svn directory through code: echo `svnadmin mkdir -m 'added new package $package' http://localhost/market/packages/$package`; this does not echo nothing and when I go on http://localhost/market/packages, the folder has not been added and the revision number has not been incremented. I've tried from a terminal in market server chown root:www-data /usr/bin/svnadmin but still no luck. Somebody has come acrosss similar problem? Any solutions? Thanks! • Windows Server 2003 Hacked - Files Being Uploaded

  Blank directories are being created on my Windows Server 2003 virtual server with sub directories that are weird (for example: "88ÿ ÿ ÿÿþþ þþ13þ"). It looks like they are uploading bootlegged DVDs and pirated software. All of my bandwidth and file space is being eaten up. Could this be a shared permissions issue? Where should I look to further investigate this? My security permissions for the directory that is being hit are as followed: Administrators - ALL GRANTED IIS_WPG - Read & Execute, List Folder Contents, Read Internet Guest - DENY SYSTEM - ALL GRANTED Users - Read & Execute, List Folder Contents, Read My Event Viewer is showing many Logon/Logoff with NO IP?

• How can I set up Eclipse to work with a Quickly program?

  I've installed PyDev in Eclipse and have configured my project so that the project lies under Workspace/Eclipse and the Quickly files lies under Workspace/Quickly. To connect the two I've linked the Quickly project by creating a new folder in Eclipse under the project and select the "advanced option" in the dialog to link a folder into the project. That way I don't need to have the Eclipse project files in my Quickly project. But there is two issues that arises for me: In Eclipse I have to select a Python interpreter and I have no idea what to do. I've googled around for an answer but I can't find if Quickly uses Python 3 or 2.7. Can someone help me make an informed choice? (I'm new to developing Python, that's why I can't tell the difference by the syntax - if there even is a difference) I can't press the "Run" button to launch the application. Must I initialize a program with quickly run? I want to be able to debug through Eclipse, how do I configure this? I'm using Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS and the Eclipse version from the repositories. Thanks!

• How do I encrypt but share a number of folders?

  I want to achieve the following functionality. Is it possible? Boot up computer (possibly via WakeOnLan or WakeOnPlan). Either be automatically logged in, or log in via login screen, or log in remotely. I change this behavior occasionally, so full disk encryption wouldn't work for me because it requires a password on bootup (which would it would prevent the remote bootup options, and the automatic login option). I am only interested in encrypting data, not the entire harddrive. Once logged in either: a launcher/tray icon is available to launch encryption app (preferred) run encryption app from the dash Prompted to unlock encrypted folder(s) individually. Unlocked folders are available to: me, apps I am running (e.g. editors, SpiderOak) Ideally, folders that I share with bindfs can be locked/unlocked by other users too. A key point is that once I have unlocked an encrypted folder, I don't want to have to think about it again. I currently achieve this via TrueCrypt (except for the last part). Unfortunately TrueCrypt isn't well integrated with Ubuntu (licensing issues prevent Debian from including it in their repo, the interface isn't quite integrated with Unity, setting it as a startup app doesn't quite work, sharing encrypted folders isn't really part of its design). Is there an alternative to TrueCrypt that is better integrated with the Ubuntu GUI and would suit this workflow?

No modification was and will be made to NTFS by this software until it gets repaired. I don't have windows installed, how can I run chkdsk /f from ubuntu?

• Batch OCR for many PDF files (not already OCRed) ?

  Hello, I use Google Desktop Search (I am on Vista) and not all my PDF files are recognized in my archive folder. It is normal as "PDF files that contain scanned images" are not indexed (http://desktop.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=90651) So I would like to OCR many of my PDF files that are not already OCRed. My goal : I give the program a folder and it search alone in the subfolders the PDF files that need to be converted into PDF-OCRed files. Note: In the past, if a PDF file was password protected, I removed the password with another batch (paying) tool: verypdf.com "pwdremover" Any (not too much expensive) idea ? I already tried : Finereader 6 pro on xp at the time, but there was no batch processor included... Paperfile paperfile.net which uses Tesseract code.google.com/p/tesseract-ocr/. But the OCR is only PDF to text, not PDF to PDF! There is also another project code.google.com/p/ocropus Thanks in advance ;)

• How can I permanently remove default root hints from a Server 2008 DNS server?

  My network exists in private address space and I am unable to perform DNS lookups against DNS servers on the internet directly (blocked by firewall). There are other networks that exist in the same private address space as my network. I need to be able to perform DNS lookups for devices in these networks as well. There are 2 main internal DNS servers in this private address space, but not on my netowrk. I can perform DNS lookups against both of these servers for devices internal to our address space and names on the internet. I would like to permanently remove the root hints from our Server 2008 R2 DNS server and replace them with these 2 internal DNS servers. I have removed them from the dnsmgmt console, the C:\Windows\System32\DNS\cache.dns file, and from the RootDNSServers folder under the System folder in ADUC. Even so, they continue to repopulate into the root hints tab in the server properties for DNS after roughly an hour. Does anyone know how to permanently remove these entries?

• Trouble upgrading OS X, because HD doesn't use GUID Partition Table Scheme

  So I have a MacBook with Mac OS X 10.5 and I'm trying to upgrade to 10.6, but when I run the upgrade 'install' I quickly get to a page where I am supposed to 'Select the disk where you want to install Mac OS X' and there is only the one hard drive, so it is auto selected, and below that I see a warning message and the only button available is the 'Go Back' button. The warning message says: "Macintosh HD" can't be used because it doesn't use the GUID Partition Table scheme. Use Disk Utility to change the partition scheme. Select the disk, choose the Partition tab, select the Volume Scheme and then click Options. So I followed the above instructions, and I got to the last step, where I'm supposed to click the 'Options' button, the problem is that I cannot click that button, it is disabled.. So what am I supposed to do?

I entered the code from Android to desktop. This made my phone show a window showing 'Waiting for device' and a progress bar running all over again. Than I tried to use 'I'm not near my computer' option on Android. I am asked for email, password and a recovery key. So I googled a little and found an instruction. I go to Options/Sync. • Fast swapping of production and staging in IIS

  I'm using IIS 7 on my own dedicated server. Let's say I have two web applications. One points to folder A, and one points to folder B. The first is used for production and the second is for staging. If I want to set up a scenario whereby I upload my aplication to staging, make sure everybody's happy, then swap the folders that each web application points at, thereby putting "staging" live and making the production environment the new staging environment, what's a good way to do this? I know Microsoft themselves use this methodology on their Azure platform and I've seen it used elsewhere too. How can I do it on my server with IIS7?

• Disallow all user agents except one using .htaccess?

  I've been struggling to get this .htaccess working. The aim is to disallow all user agents besides my app. The app sends a GET request with a user agent of lets say 'AcmeUpdater'. Whenever I try to navigate to any file in the folder, I get a 500 - Internal Server Error. Here are the rules I'm using: <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> Options +FollowSymLinks RewriteEngine on RewriteBase / RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} !^KMUpdaterClient* RewriteRule .* - [F,L] </IfModule> I have updated the .htaccess file as suggested in the answer by Nick, and restarted Apache. After trying a couple of different things, it seems that just the presence of a .htaccess is causing the 500 error. I'm getting nothing in the error logs. The .htaccess file at the document root looks like the following: <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> Options +FollowSymLinks ErrorDocument 404 /index.php?error=404 RewriteEngine On RewriteBase / RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L] RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d </IfModule> So I realised that the error logs were in chronological order rather than the reverse chronological I expected (Oops!). The error I'm getting is: </IfModule> without matching <IfModule> section. I removed the </IfModule> and still I get that error. Ideas?

• How to check Early Z efficiency on AMD GPU with Windows 7

  I have a game using DirectX 9, and a development station using Win 7 x64. I am still able to get access to another station with Vista x64 / dual booted with WinXP x86. I wanted to check early Z efficiency in the game and to my sadness all tools I have tried seem to be unable to perform this task: AMD PerfStudio AMD GPUPerfStudio 2 does not support DirectX 9 at all AMD GPUPerfStudio 1.2 does not install correctly on Windows 7. When I have tweaked the MSI package (a simple OS version check adjustment was needed), it complained the drivers I have do not provide needed instrumentation. The drivers old enough to support the GPUPerfStudio would most likely not be able to operate with my Radeon 5750 card (though this is something I am not 100 % sure, I did not attempt to try any older drivers, not knowing which I should look for) PIX PIX does not seem to contain any counters like this. It offers some ATI specific counters, but when I try to activate them, the PIX reports "PIX encountered a problem while attaching to the target program." I do not want to upgrade to DX 10/11 just to be able to profile the game, but it seems without the step I am somewhat locked with a toolset which is no longer supported. I see only one obvious options which would probably work, and that is using WinXP (or with a little bit of luck even Vista) station, perhaps with some older AMD card, to make sure GPUPerfStudio 1.2 works. Other than that, can anyone recommend other options how to check GPU HW counters (HiZ / EarlyZ in particular, but if others would be enabled as well, it would be a nice bonus) for a DirectX 9 game on Windows 7, preferably on AMD GPU? (If that is not possible, I would definitely prefer switching GPU to switching the OS, but before I do so I would like to know if I will not hit the same problem with nVidia again)

• Synaptics touchpad scroll doesn't work on many applications

  The Synaptics touchpad in my new laptop doesn't scroll at all in a number of applications, including Steam and Zune. I've narrowed the problem down to Synaptics not sending mouse wheel messages, but rather manipulating scroll bars. I'm only looking into one-finger side-of-touchpad scrolling, not two-finger scrolling. Is there a way to make it send wheel messages so that it is compatible with all applications?   I have a Poweredge R510 server with a PERC H700 Integrated RAID controller that is exhibiting slower than expected disk speeds (RAID 1 and RAID 10 arrays) and I'm looking at the configuration of the server. Running the command omreport chassis biossetup on the server shows me the following configuration setting: Embedded SATA Controller : ATA I can also see that the possible options for this setting are: off | ata | qdma | raid I've been looking online to find out what this setting means and what the various options refer to but I've been unable to find anything particularly helpful, so I was hoping that somebody here could help to enlighten me. • Best option for PDF viewer embedded in web app

  I have a web app that needs to be able to display a PDF. It needs to allow the user to page through the PDF, and my application needs to be able to know which page is currently being viewed, because other aspects of the web app will change based on the current page. Ideally it would not be dependent on the client having Adobe Reader but I could probably support that dependency. What are my best options for this? My application stack consists of ASP.NET 4 along with optionally Silverlight 5. Also, I could use something that is client-side based as well using JavaScript / HTML if such a thing exists. I found ComponentOne's offering for this and that seems like the leading candidate at this point, but I want to know if there are other options I should consider. Edit: Per Fosco's comment, converting the PDF to another format (such as HTML) might be an option, as long as I could tie back parts of the converted document to the original PDF page #s. Another note: this has to run entirely on our servers. It would not be acceptable to use a third-party service to view the PDFs.
