  • Is Google Maps API V3 good enough to use now?

    Firstly, only reply if you have experience using API V3 (i can speculate myself!) I had a little go with V3 and it looked great but would love to hear from someone who's given it a bit of use before I start working with it and deploy it on a live site.   • Wildcard SSL certificates, EV

    I run a Magento e-commerce store with multiple subdomains for an affiliate program, plus a main store. Example, foo.example.com and bar.example.com are affiliates, www.example.com is my main store. They all share the same code and database and the same virtual host. Currently I have a wildcard certificate which works fine for everything. However, I was looking at EV certificates to increase customer confidence (which is not possible with wildcard certificates -- or so I'm told). What would be the simplest setup to have both an EV SSL Cert for the main store and a wildcard for the affiliate subdomains? Two virtual hosts? By the way, I'm running Litespeed as a webserver.

    I cannot find the org.restlet.ext.crypto package in the Restlet maven repo http://maven.restlet.org/ Strange that the examples use it though its nowhere to be found in the maven repo. Anyone know why this is or have a similar experience. I am trying to fit Restlet into an existing GWT project using maven.

    Hi there, I'm building a Magento store and want to be able to display a list of categories and have each category link to its own page. I have a 'Brands' category with an ID of 42 and I want to display a list of the sub-categories and ensure that each one links to the designated URL key in the CMS. Has anyone had experience of doing this with Magento? Thank you.

  • Using Hudson to build RPM packages.

    I've a C project set up in Hudson doing nighly builds, i've also an .rpm spec file used for creating rpms from these sources. Does anyone have any experience on how to build rpms out of all this using Hudson ? Right now the only solution I see is to set up a job running a script that checks svn exports the sources ,creates a tarball and does the whole rpm build. This doesn't seem to integrate well with Hudson - e.g. how do I collect the artifacts ?

  • Why does Amazon release private keys instead of public keys?

    My brain is wrapped around the axle on public and private keys. When you create a cloud server (instance) on Amazon's EC2 service and then want to connect to it via SSH, Amazon requires you to download private a key to make the connection. Doesn't the idea behind public/private key suggest that Amazon should be require you to download a public one? Further, if I set up an SFTP server for a customer to use, should I be installing their key on the server or giving them a key from the server? In either case, should it be a public or private key?

  • WPF: How to specify units in Dialog Units?

    i'm trying to figure out how to layout a simple dialog in WPF using the proper dialog units (DLUs). i spent about two hours dimensioning this sample dialog box from Windows Vista with the various dlu measurements. Can someone please give the corresponding XAML markup that generates this dialog box? (Image Link) Now admittedly i know almost nothing about WPF XAML. Every time i start, i get stymied because i cannot figure out how to place any control. It seems that everything in WPF must be contained on a panel of some kind. There's StackPanels, FlowPanels, DockPanel, Grid, etc. If you don't have one of these then it won't compile. None of the controls are placed or sized right. i cannot figure out how to position controls in a window, nor size them properly. Can someone turn that screenshot into XAML? Note: You're not allowed to measure the screenshot. All the Dialog Unit (dlu) widths and heights are specified. Note: 1 horizontal DLU != 1 vertical DLU. Horizontal and vertical DLUs are different sizes.     I'm looking for a good book on how modern microprocessors are designed and work as I would like to increase my understanding of what makes them tick. Something that covers pipelines, superscalar architectures, caches etc. A book that is suitable for a programmer with several years of experience and has done and understands assembly programming and machine language, so basically not "CPUs for Dummies" or anything such.     So I am Reflector-ing some framework 2.0 code and end up with the following deconstruction fixed (void* voidRef3 = ((void*) & _someMember)) { ... } This won't compile due to 'The right hand side of a fixed statement assignment may not be a cast expression' I understand that Reflector can only approximate and generally I can see a clear path but this is a bit outside my experience. Question: what is Reflector trying to describe to me? Update: Am also seeing the following fixed (IntPtr* ptrRef3 = ((IntPtr*) & this._someMember))

  • IIS7 rejecting POST requests with 400 error.

    I have a web application that is supposed to handle post requests from SAP. This has been working fine at other customers with win2k3 systems (IIS6) and win2k8 (IIS7) systems. However, on this specific customer's site, IIS responds with a 400 response, without calling my aspx page. In fact, I don't even see it appear in the w3c log for the virtual directory. I do see the request using Network Monitor, so I know no firewalls and the like are eating the request, and as far as I can tell, all of the fields of the request are valid (there is "content-length", it looks correct (this is a sending of a 28K tiff file - which isn't MIME encoded, curiously enough now that I think of it...) Ideas?

    Hi all, As I understand it Firefox does not support H.264 encoded video using the tag. I've been told that Flash will quite happily handle such content however I have no experience with Flash nor do I have access to Adobe Creative Suite. I'm developing primarily for Firefox users and recoding our video content to OGG would not be practical. What are my options?

    I've currently got a ASP.NET MVC 2 application on .NET 3.5 and I want to migrate it over to the new .NET 4.0 with Visual Studio 2010. Reason being that it's always good to stay on top of these things - plus I really like the new automatic encoding with <%: %> and clean web.config :-) So, does anyone have any experience they could share?   • Migrating RAID6 array from HP SmartArray P600 to LSI MegaRAID SAS 8888ELP

    My customer has an external RAID6 array (8x 1TB in HP MSA60 enclosure) attached to HP SmartArray P600 controller. They have now decided to replace the server and the new one comes with LSI MegaRAID SAS 8888ELP. The HW supplier insists the migration is as simple as pulling the eSATA cable from P600 and inserting it into LSI but I'm not convinced. Unfortunately I have nowhere to test, and will have to do the exercise on the production array :( So the question in brief - is it possible to import the HP SmartArray P600-created RAID6 array to LSI MegaRAID 8888ELP?

A client of mine has related to me an idea for an iPhone app that requires OpenGL ES 2.0 for it's inherently complex 3D structure and animations.
