• Why is it so hard to build a gtk programe without console using cmake in windows?

  I'm following the tuto: http://zetcode.com/tutorials/gtktutorial/firstprograms/ It works but each time I double click on the executable,there is a console which I don't want it there. How do I get rid of that console? I tried this: add_executable(Cmd WIN32 cmd.c) But got this fatal error: MSVCRTD.lib(crtexew.obj) : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol _WinMain@16 referenced in function ___tmainCRTStartup Cmd.exe : fatal error LNK1120: 1 unresolved externals While using gcc directly works: gcc -o Cmd cmd.c -mwindows .. I'm guessing it has something to do with the entry function: int main( int argc, char *argv[]),but why gcc works? How can I make it work with cmake?

  I need to automate the process of downloading and installing an exe file abc.exe from say 'http://10.34.45.21:8080/cruisecontrol/artifacts/xxx_trunk_nightly_build/xxx/test/' I mean now i have to manually goto ''http://10.34.45.21:8080/cruisecontrol' then click on each folder before i finally click on the abc.exe file. Then it downloads the exe on my machine. Then i have to double click on the exe to install it. I want to automate this whole process such that when i run the script it will automatically download the exe file and install it. Is it possible to do this using php? I am very much a beginner. Any help will be of use.

• C# Get video file duration from metadata

  I am trying to read metadata from a file. I only need the Video - Length property, however I am unable to find a simple way of reading this information. I figured this would be fairly easy since it is visible by default in Explorer, however this looks to be way more complicated than I anticipated. The closest I came was using: Microsoft.DirectX.AudioVideoPlayback.Video video = new Microsoft.DirectX.AudioVideoPlayback.Video(str); double duration = video.Duration; However this throws a LoaderLock exception, and I don't know how to deal with it. Any ideas?

• OO C++ - Virtual Methods

  Just a really quick question here. I'm using virtual functions to read in from a text file. Now, it's virtual because in one aspect I want the values to be normalised, and, in the other respect I don't want them to be normalised. I have tried to do this: bool readwav(string theFile, 'native'); So in theory, if the 'native' is used, this method should be called, however, if 'double' is called then a different version of the method is called. Same for if the value is empty, it should just perform the native option. First question, why doesn't the declaration above work? Also, is this the best route to go down? Or, would it be better to have just one class method that switches between the options. Thanks :)

The question is about the first 3 lines: are those comparisons guaranteed to be on the primitive int, with the Integer auto-unboxed? Are there cases where the primitive would be auto-boxed instead, and reference identity comparisons are performed? (which would all then be false!)

• Reading bytes from JavaScript string

  I have a string containing binary data in JS. Now I want to read, for example, an integer from it. So I get the first 4 characters, use charCodeAt, do some shifting etc. to get an integer. Problem is that strings in JS are UTF-16 (instead of ASCII) and charCodeAt often returns values higher than 256. The Mozilla reference states that "The first 128 Unicode code points are a direct match of the ASCII character encoding." (what about ASCII values 128?) How can I convert the result of charCodeAt to an ASCII value? Or is there a better way to convert a string of four characters to a 4 byte integer?

  Hi, I use VS2008 C# + Windows Forms. I can't understand why comboBox does not behave the way it should. In Design mode, I added a comboBox to my form, and edit Items to add "A" and "B". Double-clicking brings me to SelectedIndexChanged event, which I edit to display the selected text with MessageBox. private void comboBoxImageSet_SelectedIndexChanged(object sender, EventArgs e) { MessageBox.Show(comboBoxImageSet.SelectedText); } When I run, and select "A" or "B" in the comboBox, the MessageBox appears, but nothing is written. • C++ USB Programming

  Hi, I am new to hardware programming(especially USB) so please bear with me and my questions. I am using C++ and I need to send/receive some data (a byte array) to/from a USB port on a microprocessor board. Now, I have done some serial port programming before and I know that for a serial port you have to open a port, setup, perform i/o and finally close the port. I am guessing to use a USB port, it is not as simple as what I mentioned above. I do know that I want to use Microsoft standard drivers and implement standard Windows IO commands to accomplish this, since I believe there are no drivers for the microprocessor board for me to interact with. If somebody can point me in the right direction as to the steps needed to "talk" to a USB port (open, setup, i/o) via standard Windows IO commands, I would truly and greatly appreciate it. • Visual Studio 2010 Database Project does not understand Schema Names anymore?

  I just tried to upgrade a Visual Studio 2008 Database project to VS2010 and actually it is quite a mess. Hundreds of warnings, all unsolved references. It seems to boil down to Visual Studio not to understand Schema Names (aka Ownership) anymore. For example, the standard dbo schema: [$(MyDataBase)].dbo.MyTable is fine but: [$(MyDataBase)].myschema.MyTable gives an unsolved reference. It did work in VS2008. Also the abbreviation for dbo, the double dot: [$(MyDataBase)]..MyTable Doesn't work anymore. In the project property windows I restored the references to the correct servers (which were lost after the conversion) but that didn't help. This seems pretty basic but I don't have a clue how to solve this. Any help is appreciated.

Encrypted text is used as a parameter in some urls, but after encrypting, there comes backslashes in string and I cannot use single backslash in urllib2.urlopen. I cannot replace single backslash with double. Those values can have single, double, and triple digits. The next step would be to strip STEAM_0:1:20130600 and STEAM_0:1:55386073 out of the string and capture it in a new variable. The only constant is STEAM_0: the rest can change. I am still learning regex but I fear this is a bit complicated for me to do. Some guidance would be most appreciative.

Does a for with a yield always return an IndexedSeq, or can it also return some other type of collection class (a LinearSeq, for example)? • Clickonce application does not update or launch.

  I have a winforms application that I have deployed using clickonce, but the users navigate to a network drive and double click on setup.msi instead of using a webpage to install it. I have two users that have it installed and it's worked in the past. I did an udpate last week and now when the users try to launch the application the window that says "Verifying Application Requirements" pops up then when it disappears nothing happens. The dialog asking if it's ok to update never pops up. The network people have verified that they have permissions on the network drive (though, I would expect an error message if this were the issue). Any clues what could cause this to happen?

More usefully, perhaps, what are the key features or idioms of Scala that YOU use that cannot be easily represented in Java? Are there any the other way about?
