• Does google see the output of document.write?

  I've got a site where people can list machinery for sale. Each item for sale has it's own dynamic page. On each of these pages we allow the person selling the item to have a link back to their own website. Some people only sell a handful of items and some people are selling dozens or hundreds of items. So in some cases we can have a 100 links back to their external site. Our SEO guy is saying this is bad (i'll open another question on that). So i was wondering if i take the links and spit them out using document.write, will that hide them from google and the other SE's ?

  I am working on a project where we would like to have build a web interface that gives the user the ability to "Google" files in a directory in a remote machine. For example, the user would type a string in a box, and then the system would find all files that contain that string and present them in the browser. The system would then give the user the ability click on any of the files to open them/display them in the browser. We want to avoid reinventing the wheel if possible, but don't really know where to start (none of us in the team have much experience building websites). What software packages, libraries or tools exist that can help us get this done?

• Google Analytics - New & Old Domain Filtering

  I have two domains associated with the same hosting account. Domain A was the one I had purchased when I first set up my website, but I didn't like it all that much and it was getting low ranks, and so I bought domain B and 301'd links from domain A to domain B. Now I would like to know if there is any way I can filter page views on Google Analytics based on the domain used to access the website, so that I can know if it is worth to keep the old domain associated with the account. Is there any easy way I can do this?

• Will URL encoding the image names affect Google

  Just wondering if it makes any difference to Google whether or not I URL encode the image names when linking to them. For example if I have an image named "test-1234-!.jpg", does it make a difference if I name it refer to it as "test-1234-%21.jpg"? The reason I am asking is because I am doing a major shift in the way my website works and while all new image names will not be URL encoded, all of the past ones are. I want to see if it is worth it renaming all of them or if I should just leave it like that.

  I've been creating a RA3 mission map (play in Skirmish), most likely a remake of RA2 Yuri "To the Moon" mission, with more interesting elements. However, because of my work, the process was corrupted for more than a year. And now, I see that very few people still play RA3. So, should I continue making this map? Because there're still a lot of work to complete this map. I can assure you, the mission will be interesting. However, if few people play it, there's no need to waste time to it. • What is the best taxonomy from Google's perspective?

  I was wondering what the best way is to structure a new website in Google's eyes. Currently, it contains two top-level categories (X & Y), and clicking a term under either one will result in the URL: www.nameofsite.com/X/X type term, or /Y/Y type term Technically, it is correct to group all "X type terms" under X and "Y type terms" under Y, but we could probably be more granular and break all articles into 5-6 top-level categories by breaking Y up into more specific categories. Given that the current URL structure will eventually result in 1000's of "X type terms" and "Y type terms" under just two top-level categories, would it be more advisable to have several of these, as suggested?   Can add-ons have registered names in Google Chrome add-ons? I created a Youtube add-on and would like to add the Youtube term in my add-on name to better gain attention from users. I want to use it in the purpose of "fair use". Mozilla Add-ons are loose in restrictions about names but I see that there are not many add-ons containing Youtube or Facebook inside Chrome Market. Does that mean Chrome editors do not allow Registered terms inside the add-on names and should this be avoided?

  There is no official API for Google Voice. However, many of the operations are done via simple rest style http calls, so building one shouldn’t be too difficult. Digging deeper and rolling your own is always a great way to exercise your problem solving skills and learn new things. So I did just that. As of the time of writing this, I’m only implementing basic SMS send since that’s all I needed. I’m hoping to implement more functionality in the future.   So, I am looking to add a tag that I want to use for A/B testing, however we don't have a page-type URL structure. Fortunately the tool can recognise page type if I pass it by Javascript. <script type="text/javascript"> window.isProductPage = true; </script> I have been told to use the above, I have created the script in Google Tag Manager (GTM), however I now need to know how to make this run on those pages in GTM. I have looked through the code and there are div class that are unique to each page, can I use this as an indication of page type?

  I converted a local sound file to a resource, which built this in my XAML: <UserControl.Resources> <my:Uri x:Key="SoundFiles">file:///c:/Audio/HebrewDemo/Shalom.wav</my:Uri> </UserControl.Resources> I did this by pasting a local disk mp3 filename into source, then clicked on the "dot" by source and chose "Extract Value to Resource". When I run, it tells me that "Uri" is not valid, and sure enough, in the Intellisense, I see other elements that start with "uri" but not just URI by itself. In the real world I want to specify a dynamic mp3 file name. For example, I might have a database of foreign language words used for flashcards, I want to play a sound file on a URL. But I thought I would try to walk before running...

  Hello there, Does anybody know how to play a video in a UIVebView ? The video comes from the iphone library, when I pick it, I store it in core data as binary data. If i use the local url of the video it's working fine, the problem I have is that the this url refers to a folder named "tmp", and I don't know the lifetime of it. If I can get the real url of the video file it will be ok. //attachment is the core data object containing the data NSURL *url = [NSURL URLWithString:attachment.path]; [self.webView loadRequest:[NSURLRequest requestWithURL:url]]; I tried a solution that doesn't work: (i tried MIMETypes : "video/quicktime" and "video/mp4") [self.webView loadData:attachment.data MIMEType:@"video/mov" textEncodingName:nil baseURL:nil]; I think the second solution is the closest, and the problem comes from the MIMEType. If so, I would like to hear what the pros and cons of that experience were and what you might do differently if you could start over. In particular, I'm interested in how well it worked for projects that are big enough that it requires a small team and/or apps that had requirements that go beyond what demo/test projects can (e.g. scalability requirements).   Hello! I am using the wpaudio plugin to convert mp3 links into a javascript/flash audio player. My problem is that I use this plugin in two areas on my site: one on a black background, and one on a white background. I need to use an alternate set of play/pause buttons for each page (white buttons for the black background and vice versa). I am at a total loss on how to do this. I need to some how incorporate a "if page is..." statement into the wpaudio.js but I don't know how to do this with jQuery. Can anyone help? Thanks so much!

  Everybody knows the standard procedure to keep your app alive, after the user pressed the lock button (silent sound). If I start a sound with AVAudioPlayer (before the iphone is locked), the sound plays till it's end (after locking). The app is still running. If I try to start another sound while the iPhone is locked, it will never get played. All the other things work as well but the sound doesn't. How can I play a sound while the iphone is locked?

  HI, I am using activeXMediaPlayer to play files from url but each time I pass a url to it shows the message , "either the file is corrupted or player does not support the file format u are playing." But when i run the same url on browser the file is downloaded and this downloaded file can be played on the media player. I am not able to find out what the problem is . Because the same cod plays the local file and the downloaded files but not file from url Although the same code worked few months ago for the urls So is this my fault or some server related issues can affect this thing. • Play Framework: Generate PDF from template that uses Javascript for graphing

  I have a template that has some Javascript used to generate graphs in the browser. I would like to use that same template to create a PDF and send as an attachment in an e-mail. In this scenario, there would be no browser/client interaction. I am using the PDF module that is available from the Play website and I have managed to get the PDF rendering to work. The only issue is that the graphs don't show up in the PDF but all other static text does. I'm assuming the graphs aren't appearing in the PDF due to the Javascript not being executed prior to the PDF generation. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get around this problem?

  I have a bitmap animation defined in XML, to open a door. I also need to animate closing the door, which contains the same frames but in reverse order. I don't want to create a second XML for this. The only reverse parameter I found in the documentation is related with repeating, and this doesn't apply, since I want the opening animation to finish when the door is closed and not continue to closing animation. I also found some threads about using a custom interpolator, but can I use / makes sense with a bitmap animation? How can I play the XML animation in reverse order?
