  • Server Development Tool?

    Hi, For my programming tasks I use about 2-3 remote servers to deploy and run my code against different conditions. This cannot be emulated locally as the server configuration requires powerful hardware. Most of time I need to stop service, update binareis, start service, view logs in realtime, download logs. Currently I'm doing this manually and over time this becomes a real pain in the ass, especially because the environment is not ideal in terms of network badwidth, reliability etc. I just wonder if someone from server programmers have the similar problems and how do you bear with them. Any special tools/hints/secrets?

  • SQL Server 2005 Error 701 - out of memory

    I'm currently having following error message when executing a .sql file with about 26MB on SQL Server 2005: Msg 701, Level 17, State 123 There is insufficient system memory to run this query. I'm working with 4GB RAM, 64Bit Windows 7 Ultimate, Core2Duo T6400(2GHz)... Is there a way to execute it without receiving this message (maybe force SQL Server to use swap file?) or a way to execute it in parts (like 100 queries a time)... The file is basically a CREATE TABLE followed by thousads of INSERT queries and I have a lot of those (converted .DBF files to SQL queries using ABC DBF Converter) Any idea will be very appreciated!

  • Problem with Access 2003 linking tables with SQL Server 2008 using ODBC

    I am trying to link an Access 2003 DB to tables in a SQL Server 2008 database using ODBC. When I try to link to tables that have Primary Key established I get the following error message. " 'Pk_dbo.Batch_Claims' is not a valid name. Make sure that it does not include invalid characters or punctuation and that it is not to long. " Pk_dbo.Batch_Claims is the key value I see when looking at the table through SSMS. I have used Access for awhile but am somewhat new to SQL Server and connections using ODBC. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

    Ok, so I'm trying to select an amount of rows from a column that holds the value 3, but only if there are no rows containing 10 or 4, if there are rows containing 10 or 4 I only want to show those. What would be a good syntax to do that? So far I've been attempting a CASE WHEN statement, but I can't seem to figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated. (My database is in an MS SQL 2008 server)

    So, lets say you have two SQL Server Databases on the same server that reference each others tables in their Views, Functions and Stored Procedures. You know, things like this: use database_foo create view spaghetti as select f.col1, c.col2 from fusilli f inner join database_bar.dbo.conchigli c on f.id = c.id (I know that cross-database views are not very good practice, but lets just say you're stuck with it) Are there any good techniques to avoid 'hard coding' the database names? (So that should you need to occasionally re-point to a different database - for testing perhaps - you don't need to edit loads of views, fns, sps) I'm interested in SQL 2005 or SQL 2008 solutions.     hi, My client is facing some deadlocks while using our application. I want to track all the deadlocks for my research and to solve the deadlocks. i am currently run the SQL profiler for the event deadlock graph to capture the deadlock scenario. the actual problem is that the SQL server gets restarted every day at 2 am, and the profiler stops capturing the events after the restart. by the time i come to office at start the profiler at say 10 am, there could be deadlocks which i could have missed between 2 am and 10 am. so i am looking for a way so i can capture the deadlocks without me starting manually. i thought i could use TRACEON(1204,-1) so that the deadlock events get captured in the SQL Server error logs. But i found that the TRACE capturing too gets disabled after the restart. Is there a way i can capture the deadlocks either by SQL profiler or by using TRACEON without me manually starting the capturing? Nikhil

  • Manually removing sql server 2008

    I am not able to remove sql server 2008 from my machine. I installed it in the past as a part of the installation of an application, this installed the runtime of sql server 2008 SP0. But now I cannot uninstall. I tried to use the setup of SP0 and even of SP2 but it was not able to uninstall, by giving fatal errors when it does the preliminary checks. This means that the only option I have is format my machine? I cannot even intall a new instance, something is really corrupted. Is it a way to remove it manually?

    I’m looking for some feedback on mechanisms to batch data from MySQL Community Server 5.1.32 with an external host down to an internal SQL Server 05 Enterprise machine over VPN. The external box accumulates data throughout business hours (about 100Mb per day), which then needs to be transferred internationally across a WAN connection to an internal corporate environment before some BI work is performed. This should just be change-sets making their way down each night. I’m interested in thoughts on the ETL mechanisms people have successfully used in similar scenarios before. SSIS seems like a potential candidate; can anyone comment on the suitability for this scenario? Alternatively, other thoughts on how to do this in a cost-conscious way would be most appreciated.   • Spring MVC Project's .war file not able to deploy using JRE in jetty server

I generated a war file(SpringsMVC.war) and placed it in /webapps folder of Jetty server.   • Is there a way to browse a media server (MediaTomb) with a media player (VLC)?

    I currently have an EEE PC set up with LinuxMint as my media server using MediaTomb. I use VLC as my media player on another Windows computer to watch videos off the media server. It works fine, but the current process is: Open up browser and navigate to folder Find the file I want to play and copy URL Paste URL into VLC and watch. This is fine for me on the PC, but it is a little troublesome for my parents to grasp (or for me to use on the phone). Ideally I'd like to: Open up VLC Browse to the file (using VLC) Click/select to play If there is any solution which is similar to this, please let me know. I'm willing to change the software on both server and client to accommodate (although it somewhat depends on which formats are supported on the server) Side note: I've tried searching online for this but I find a lot of jargon such as "media server/centre", media streaming, DLNA, UPNP and feel that some people are either using them interchangeably or incorrectly.

  • T-Sql SPROC - Parse C# Datatable to XML in Database (SQL Server 2005)

    Scenario I've got an application written in C# that needs to dump some data every minute to a database. Because its not me that has written the spec, I have been told to store the data as XML in the SQL Server database and NOT TO USE the "bulk upload" feature. Essentially I just wanted to have a single stored procedure that would take XML (that I would produce from my datatable) and insert it into the database.....and do this every minute. Current Situation I've heard about the use of "Sp_xml_preparedocument" but I'm struggling to understand most of the examples that I've seen (My XML is far narrower than my C Sharp ability). Question I would really appreciate someone either pointing me in the direction of a worthwhile tutorial or helping explain things. EDIT - Using (SQL Server 2005)

  • Windows Server 2003 Hacked - Files Being Uploaded

    Blank directories are being created on my Windows Server 2003 virtual server with sub directories that are weird (for example: "88ÿ ÿ ÿÿþþ þþ13þ"). It looks like they are uploading bootlegged DVDs and pirated software. All of my bandwidth and file space is being eaten up. Could this be a shared permissions issue? Where should I look to further investigate this? My security permissions for the directory that is being hit are as followed: Administrators - ALL GRANTED IIS_WPG - Read & Execute, List Folder Contents, Read Internet Guest - DENY SYSTEM - ALL GRANTED Users - Read & Execute, List Folder Contents, Read My Event Viewer is showing many Logon/Logoff with NO IP?

  • Maximum number of workable tables in SQL Server And MySQL

    I know that in SQL Server, the maximum number of "objects" in a database is a little over 2 billion. Objects contains tables, views, stored procedures, indexes, among other things . I'm not at all worried about going beyond 2 billion objects. However, what I would like to know, is, does SQL Server suffer a performance hit from having a large number of tables. Does each table you add have a performance hit, or is there basically no difference (assuming constant amount of data). Does anybody have any experience working with databases with thousands of tables? I'm also wondering the same about MySQL.

  • NHybernate, the Parallel Framework, and SQL Server

    hey guys, we have a loop that: 1.Loops over several thousand xml files. Altogether we're parsing millions of "user" nodes. 2.In each iteration we parse a "user" xml, do custom deserialization 3.finally, in each iteration, we send our object to nhibernate for saving. We use: .SaveOrUpdateAndFlush(user); This is a lengthy process, and we thought it would be a perfect candidate for testing out the .NET 4.0 Parallel libraries. So we wrapped the loop in a: Parallel.ForEach(); After doing this, we start getting "random" Timeout Exceptions from SQL Server, and finally, after leaving it running all night, OutOfMemory unhandled exceptions. I haven't done deep debugging on this yet, but what do you guys think. Is this simply a limitation of SQL Server, or could it be our NHibernate setup, or what? cheers andy

    Hey all, I'm not much of a database guru so I would like some advice. Background We have 4 tables that are currently stored in Sybase IQ. We don't currently have any choice over this, we're basically stuck with what someone else decided for us. Sybase IQ is a column-oriented database that is perfect for a data warehouse. Unfortunately, my project needs to do a lot of transactional updating (we're more of an operational database) so I'm looking for more mainstream alternatives. Question Given these tables' dimensions, would anyone consider SQL Server or Oracle to be a viable alternative? Table 1 : 172 columns * 32 million rows Table 2 : 453 columns * 7 million rows Table 3 : 112 columns * 13 million rows Table 4 : 147 columns * 2.5 million rows Given the size of data what are the things I should be concerned about in terms of database choice, server configuration, memory, platform, etc.?
