• Can these game be fully coded in html5/javascript?

  I mean the mechanics of the game. Would it be possible? -Pokemon GBA series, rendering the world would be easy, but what about battle mechanics? -MapleStory, after seen dragonbound.net which is an identical copy of Gunbound I would think it's rather possible, but I'm still not sure if javascript can handle all the mechanics of the world. It would be heavy on resources I guess? I'm asking this because I'm really interested in html5 game develop(I really think in a future will destroy flash on game dev ground). I want to have an idea of how far games developed with the html5/javascript technology can go. I got especially inspired by dragonbound. I really think it pushes htmlt/javascript to the limits (game dev).

• Flashing task bar(firefox) in lxde panel and ubuntu internal error

  I have upgraded from ubuntu10.04 to 12.04 and installed lxde. The panel is now customized according to my convenience. The problem is there was a default checked option for "Flash when there is any window requiring attention" in Task bar(window list) and now when I run firefox, at times the concerned bar in the panel window list starts flashing but it is not clear exactly why at that moment firefox requires my attention. Normally this happens after I download some files (pdf files) and keep using firefox. The only solution I have found is to quit firefox and even after that I receive this message "Sorry, ubuntu12.04 has experienced an internal error. If you notice further problems, try restarting the computer." As usual I report the detailed message to ubuntu as suggested and finally restart the computer. So there are two problems, first, exactly why firefox needs my attention at times and second, why immediately after this, ubuntu experiences an internal error. Please suggest what I should do.

  As a playlist or internet radio station plays, a notification pops up in the top right corner every time the song changes. I can't find any way either within Banshee or settings in general to stop this. How do I stop Banshee from putting a notification in the panel for every song? Further, can I stop Banshee from outputting any notifications at all? Update: I tried going into Banshee ? Edit ? Preferences ? Extensions, and disabled the Sound Menu Integration, but this does not seem to stop notifications.

• Best way to slice up a non rectangular image?

  I have the image below and need to create a rollover for each "piece" or arrow in the circle. Because the image isn't rectangular, it boggles how me how I'm going to do this without having badly overlapping pieces. As you can see from the image below, the slices will overlap each other (quite a bit), which will not be good for the rollover. Does anybody have any ideas as to how to accomplish this without resorting to Flash or HTML5? The majority of our site's users use dinosaur browsers that don't support HTML5. With this release comes another milestone on Oracle's Data Integration roadmap - OWB is no longer shipped with the database. You will notice that the OWB documentation is no longer included with the Oracle Database documentation, you can compare and contrast the 11.2 and 12.1 documentation below. OWB 11gR2 is still supported with Oracle Database 12c, you will need 11.2.0.3 plus at least CP2 which has been certified with Oracle Database 12c. The 11.2.0.4 release will wrapper this into one install.

• GeoToolkit Demo Embedded in an Application Framework via Maven

  As a follow on to yesterday's blog entry, here's the equivalent starter application for GeoToolkit (also known as Geotk) on the NetBeans Platform, which ends up looking like this: The above is a border.shp file I found on-line, while here's a USA states shape file rendered in the application: Note that the navigation bar is also included, though that could later be migrated into the menu bar of the NetBeans Platform.  Download the Maven based NetBeans Platform application with GeoToolkit integration here: http://java.net/projects/nb-api-samples/sources/api-samples/show/versions/7.3/tutorials/geospatial/geotoolkit/MyGeospatialSystem It was quite tricky getting this sample together, parts of it, especially the installer, which creates the database, comes from the Puzzle GIS project, while the files come from on-line locations, with the JAI-related dependencies providing problems of their own.   Hi, I presented a talk on Windows Phone 7 @ MoMo and got awesome response, even though WP7 is quite new still. I also demoed 2 applications on both emulator and the actual device. It enjoy the look on audience faces when they see the app actually work on actual device. I see a great opportunity on WP7 and everyone I met agrees on the fact the WP7 has a very bright future ahead. The Ecosystem which WP7 has (developing/ debugging tools, emulator, almost flat learning curve,  office/sharepoint integration a lively forum, marketplace) makes it a major player in mobile, already. • Identify "non-secure" content IE warns about [on hold]

  As many know, if you serve a page over https and the content loads resources (images, stylesheets, js, SWF objects, etc) over http, older versions of Internet Explorer will show the user a warning saying "This page contains both secure and non-secure items". This is discomforting to many non-technical users. Usually, I can look at the HTML source and identify which item(s) are triggering this error. Sometimes a Flash object will load something else or some embedded javascript will put a new object in the DOM and trigger this. What tools are good for quickly tracking down the source of the warning?

• Chrome dispay Glich when GPU acc. on

  Hy Everyone! I have some graphics glich when enable gpu acc. in chrome. If i disable acceleraion it fix the glich but, in full HD most of flash videos frame rate drop above frogs a**, so very slow... :) Any idea, what can i do? I Upload 2 pics from glich. My hardware: CM Hyper TX 3 on AMD A5300 with HD 7480D 6 GB RAM I use official AMD driver from amd.com, Ubuntu 14.04(I upgraded from 12.04, in Ubuntu 12, same glitch with old drivers.) I reinstalld x.org completly and purge all config files, but this didnt resolve the problem. • How do I select DWM or fluxbox to start on login?

  I am trying to setup DWM in Ubuntu 10.10. The package is successfully built - and now I am trying to get it up and running. I created the dwm.desktop file with the proper text and the path to the dwm exec is correct. On login screen, I can see dwm as a alternate session : but if I select it, still gnome starts. I even tried another window manager (fluxbox) - same problem. I can see and select it in the login screen, but gnome starts up. Trying gconftool-2 -s /desktop/gnome/session/required_components/windowmanager dwm --type string also does nothing. Killing the windows manager just restarts it - even if I chvt first. Also, don't see the xinit daemon running. Any ideas ? This setup was trivial in Debian, and older versions of Ubuntu. What changed ? I am guessing gnome integration is to blame - but am clueless as of now.

• Which mobile device is appropriate as a utility tool for a web master?

  Basically, I'm looking for a device to use on the road and I would prefer to not have to sit down for the majority of the tasks (which rules out netbooks, in my mind). I'm also hoping to spend less than $500. This is what I'd like to "capably" be able to do on the device: Browse the web in non-mobile format, flash is a plus Email, chat, etc Have access to a decent text editor and ftp OR a browser that supports BESPIN/ACE Some sort of SSH support I'm looking at rooted Android phones and iPhone/iPads... though the phone aspect is only icing (it would be cool to consolidate the two devices and have net access through cell networks, but I'm not married to the idea). Are there cheap linux tablets that are ready for prime-time yet? I suppose that would be ideal. All suggestions welcome!

• How to prevent my screen from either dimming or the screen-lock starting when watching YouTube?

  My screen brightness used to dim after a few seconds to preserve battery. This is default in Ubuntu 12.04. However when watching video it should not dim. This works correctly when I watch videos using native applications like VLC. With in-browser video, however, the screen is not prevented from dimming. This is very annoying as you have to move your cursor every 10 seconds or so. I used to use Mac OSX where I had the same dimming settings and Flash videos were taken into account correctly. Anyone an idea how you can make YouTube prevent your screen from dimming?

• Pendrive USB Ubuntu installation - black screen on boot

  I see many posts on this, but no solution. I installed Ubuntu 12.04 on my 16GB USB flash drive using this official link using their tool Universal USB Installer. Installation to USB went fine so I set my laptop to boot from USB and the Ubuntu was recognized. I saw the usual boot screen and I chose option "Run Ubuntu from this USB". The boot process started and after 5-6 seconds the screen goes black and non-responsive. I thought that it hang on X loading so I tried switching to console via Ctrl+Alt+F1-6 but the system did not respond. Why is this happening? Am I doing something wrong? PS. My laptop is HP Pavillion G6

• Weird keywords in google webmaster tools

  I just happened to check the keywords list on Google Webmaster Tools for my site, which is an educational content site about finance. To my big surprise, after the first keyword, which is 'finance', I found amongst the 20 highest ranked (!) entries words like: mysql, server, adobe, flash, player, homez. What (i'm tempted to add "the heck") does that mean ? Is that something I should worry about? If so, how did these get there and how can I eliminate these / avoid they get into that list ? • Best gui toolkit to use for creating 3D board game

  I have created a board game using Java and Swing - using GridLayout and various other apis. It works properly but the UI looks very very simple. I would want couple of animations like tilting the GridLayoutat any angle. There are pawns on boxes of the GridLayout that I want to be animated when somebody clicks on it. I'm not sure of the right GUI toolkit to use for this. Swing repaint is possible to a limit and cannot be used for a lot of animation and graphics. And I realized after creating the game that Swing is probably not a good tool to create games. Could anybody suggest a better framework to use that I can use it in Eclipse with Java? I was thinking of JavaFX or tools like Adobe Flash or Adobe Air. Any suggestions please?
