• SMTP server on Win2008, SPF ecc

  I want be able to send outgoing email from my website. I want to setup Win2008 smtp to be able to send them respecting all the spam rules. My checklist is: the smtp should be able to accept outgoing email only from internal sites: I will limit it to relay only 127.0.0.1 is this correct? it should have set SPF, DKIM and all the policy avaiable to not be marked as spam: how you would configure it for the internal SMTP? Should I use another kind of server like hMail server? I should be able to send like 30 email from each user session on the website without obliging the user to wait that the email is effectivly sent (I thought to save it on a folder and then use a batch to send them asynchronously). What are my options? What other steps would you add to be sure that the outgoing email is not marked as spam?

  So I thought I would  change the name of my machine so that the other devs can find the TFS server easily. TFS 2005 would use the cool cmd line util tfsadminutil.....alas he is now gone HERE Are the steps to complete Edit the web.config and is usually located on default install C:\Program Files\Microsoft Team Foundation Server 2010\Application Tier\Web Services\web.config <add key="applicationDatabase" value="Data Source=JUSTIN\SQLI01;Initial Catalog=Tfs_Configuration;Integrated Security=True;" /> Next step is to edit previous Solutions/Projects 1) Open the Solution file i.e ProductApp.sln 2) Edit the SccTeamFoundationServer URL under Global section i.e Change this to new name   If you have DB server on same machine ...you will need to go in and remove existing db user account assigned to the tfs DB Remove old [%machine_name%] value i.e Tuned_Dev_PC_12\Justin user from the above DBs No add the new Justin\Justin user account associated with the new machine name to the TFS & Reporing dbs ... dbo or the TFSADMIN & TFSEXEC roles either will do in this case. (or add both ) Now either ReApply user or add New account (remove old account i.e Tuned_Dev_PC_12\justin) If DB permisions are setup correctyly you will get a screen that looks like this   If it pauses or gets stuck you need to look back at the adding correct DB Perms to the i.e JUSTIN\Justin user account Also if your project is still complaining about old TFS name 1) Team\Connect new Team Foundation Server 2) Add\Remove TFS 3) Add New TFS Name  Once you have connected to the new TFS server Reload your project from TFS..this way it removes a lot of the bugs that hang around in the local project\solution This is similar to a VSS2005 and older fix Cheers ( eta about 60-90 mins so weigh up the the need vs payoff. ) Shutdown restart

• IIS 7 Using Domain Account for Application pool identity Invalid Password

  I have an asp.net website containing a WCF service that I am developing on a Windows 7 machine hosted with IIS 7. I am needing to connect to an instance of Reporting Services 2005 with the service, and have been getting 401 errors when trying to execute reports. So, I assume that I need to be running the IIS Application pool under a domain account. The problem is that when I try to change the identity to a domain account, I get the error message "The specified password is invalid. Type a new password." I've rechecked the password multiple times to make sure it is correct. The account I'm using has admin rights on the machine. I saw elsewhere to try running this command: aspnet_regiis.exe -GA domain\username which I did but it didn't help. What else do I need to do?

  I have recently created an SSL cert on my server *.key and a *csr file. I then created the *crt and the *.ca-bundle with Comodo. I have 2 current vhosts: vhost for - http://www.example.com NameVirtualHost *:80 <VirtualHost *:80> ServerAdmin [email protected] DocumentRoot "/home/example/public_html/example.com/httpdocs" ServerName example.com ServerAlias www.example.com </VirtualHost> vhost for https://www.example.com NameVirtualHost *:443 <VirtualHost *:443> SSLEngine on SSLCertificateFile /etc/ssl/certs/example_com.crt SSLCertificateKeyFile /etc/ssl/certs/server.key <Directory /home/example/public_html/example.com/httpdocs> AllowOverride All </Directory> DocumentRoot /home/example/public_html/example.com/httpdocs ServerName example.com </VirtualHost> The problem is, when I go to https://www.example.com I get a 404 I'm not sure if the vhost(s) is correct or why I get a 404. Has anyone ever seen this before? I have enabled mod_ssl and restarted apache Many Thanks

• Not able to run discovery in XenApp 6.5

  I am installing a fresh Citrix farm. I installed XenApp 6.5 and configured while configuring the XenApp, added domain\ctxadmin user as the farm administrator. Now when i log into Administrator account into the XenApp server and run discovery it says This user account is not an administrator of this farm, or there was a problem contacting the data store. Check that the data store server for the Citrix XenApp farm is online, and verify that your account is configured and enabled as an administrator on the farm Then I tried to RDP into the XenApp server as ctxadmin user and now I get an error "The Desktop you are trying to open is currently unavailable. Contact you system administrator to confirm the correct settings are in place for your client connection" I believe starting from XenApp version 6.x, once XenApp is installed, then a Citrix Policy needs to be changed as given in http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX124745 But for changing the Citrix policy I need to log into AppCenter which I am not able to do so as I am not able to run discovery as given above. So I am caught up in an end-less loop. Any help would be greatly appreciated

• Exchange not preserving the "To:" field

  I've got a hosted exchange solution through Apptix, which isn't the problem, I think, but it may be relevant. I have my main account, [email protected], and to that, I have an alias, [email protected]. Whenever I send an email to [email protected], I examine the headers, and I see the "To:" field being correct, "To: [email protected]". All is well. I recently set up another user, [email protected] to function as a multipurpose mailbox. I aliased "[email protected]" to the services account in the same method that I did "[email protected]", however nothing I have sent to "[email protected]" actually goes TO "[email protected]". All of the headers say "To: [email protected]". This makes it extremely difficult to filter based on headers alone. Does anyone have any feedback on what settings I would need to look at in order to fix that?

• Gmail page works but won't stop loading

  When I open the GMail page in Chrome (9.0.597.102) on OS X (10.6.4), the page works fine and is functional, but it often remains in a "Loading" state, with the loading icon active, for extremely long periods of time. Functionally, there is no problem, since everything is accessible, and the problem is intermittent. Sometimes it immediately completes loading, other times it will claim to be "loading" for hours. My date is correct (as set with time.*.apple.com), and I don't have any Google Labs enabled. Does anyone else have this problem, or know the cause and solution?

  When I try to authorize my iTunes account on Snow Leopard (10.6) with iTunes 9.0.2 I get this error: "There was an error storing your authorization information on this computer the required file was not found or has a permissions error. Correct..." And if I try to download something from the iTunes store, I get this: iTunes couldn't download your purchase.You don't have write access for your iTunes Media folder or a folder within it...." • Fixing unbootable installation on LVM root from Desktop LiveCD

  I just did an installation from the 10.10 Desktop LiveCD, making the root volume an LVM LV. Apparently this is not supported; I managed it by taking these steps before starting the GUI installer app: installing the lvm2 package on the running system creating an LVM-type partition on the system hard drive creating a physical volume, a volume group and a root LV using the LVM tools. I also created a second LV for /var; this I don't think is relevant. creating a filesystem (ext4) on each of the two LVs. After taking these steps, the GUI installer offered the two LVs as installation targets; I gladly accepted, also putting /boot on a primary partition separate from the LVM partition. Installation seemed to go smoothly, and I've verified that both the root and var volumes do contain acceptable-looking directory structures. However, booting fails; if I understood correctly what happened, I was dropped into a busybox running in the initrd filesystem. Although I haven't worked through the entirety of the grub2 docs yet, it looks like the entry that tries to boot my new system is correct: menuentry 'Ubuntu, with Linux 2.6.35-22-generic' --class ubuntu --class gnu-linux --class gnu --class os { recordfail insmod part_msdos insmod ext2 set root='(hd0,msdos3)' search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set $UUID_OF_BOOT_FILESYSTEM linux /vmlinuz-2.6.35-22-generic root=/dev/mapper/$LVM_VOLUME_GROUP-root ro quiet splash initrd /initrd.img-2.6.35-22-generic } Note that $VARS are replaced in the actual grub.cfg with their corresponding values. I rebooted back into the livecd and have unpacked the initrd image into a temp directory. It looks like the initrd image lacks LVM functionality. For example, if I'm reading /usr/share/initramfs-tools/hooks/lvm2 (installed with lvm2 on the livecd-booted system, not present on the installed one) correctly, an lvm executable should be situated in /sbin; that is not the case. What's the best way to remedy this situation? I realize that it would be easier to just use the alternate install CD, which apparently supports LVM, but I don't want to wait for it to download and then have to reinstall.

• Inter Quake Model IQM render Directx9

  I'm trying to render an Inter Quake Model(http://lee.fov120.com/iqm/) in DirectX9 that I exported from blender. I want to display animations which IQM supports and my model format does not. The model is a cylinder. It loads fine in the iqm sdk opengl viewer but when i try to render it in directx9 using for example(this is just to render the vertices): IDirect3DDevice9 * device; HRESULT hr = S_OK; for(int i = 0; i < nummeshes; i++) { iqmmesh &m = meshes[0]; hr = device->DrawIndexedPrimitiveUP(D3DPT_TRIANGLELIST, 0, 3*m.num_triangles, m.num_triangles ,&tris[m.first_triangle] ,D3DFMT_INDEX32 ,inposition ,sizeof(unsigned int)); } It renders like this: Incorrect The light grey bit that looks like two triangles in the middle is what is rendered(ignore the other stuff). Whereas it is meant to look like this(using a custom importer which I designed which matches what is displayed in blender): Correct Anyone have any suggestions on what might be going wrong?

• How To Change What Version of PHP Apache2 Uses?

  I just discovered that I am using the wrong version of PHP for a CRM application. Once I figured out how to make a simple phpinfo() script to tell me what Apache2 is using, I tried changing the php.ini such that my webserver would use the PHP I want. Well, this is my problem. Not sure how to do that. I compiled the version of PHP I want to /etc here: /etc/php-5.2.8/ Inside this, there was a php.ini-recommended file that I made some changes to and renamed to php.ini so PHP would use it. But when I opened my browser and cleared my history and went to the http://localhost<CRM dir>/install.php address, the wizard still says I'm not usign the correct version of PHP. Based on this post what do I have to do to change the version of PHP that shows up after I run my test.php script? In other words, phpinfo() says I'm running PHP 5.3.2, but I want to change it to my compiled 5.2.8 version located in /etc.

  Goal: Since the system disk is a RAID 1 mirrored set, we can rebuild the shadow set by replacing one of the good sets with a blank disk Steps Shutdown and power down server Remove the disk from bay 9, which is part of the system shadow set. Put this disk on the shelf Insert blank/old disk into the empty bay     Label the new disk before inserting it into the empty bay       Power up server During the booting process, the following message appears: “Some configured disks have been removed from your system…”       Press ‘C’ to Load Configuration utility             Press 'Y' to confirm to load the foreign configuration       In this example, the system shadow set is Disk Group 2.  (Before proceeding, confirm this is the disk group in your case).  Expanding the physical disks shows a disk in bay 8 and a missing disk in bay 9.  This is correct.   Now, we have to include the new inserted disk in this group       RAID controller reporting bay 9 is empty       There may be times when the new disk is seen as a foreign disk.  In this case, do the following:     Foreign disk is reported in bay 9 CTRL-N (Next Page) to Foreign Mgt All the disk groups will be displayed.  Typically, the disk group containing the foreign disk will be grey.  To remove the foreign disk Highlight Controller Press F2 Select Foreign Select Clear (do NOT import the configuration!)       Clear the foreign configuration Now the disk can be brought into the system shadow set disk group as a hot spare   To include the newly inserted disk into the system shadowset disk group, it must be brought in as a hot spare Highlight Disk Group 2 (VD Management) Hit F2 Select 'Manage Ded. HS'     Manage dedicated hot swap Select the disk in bay 9 (Hit space bar to select) Tab to 'OK'.  Hit the return key     Select hot spare to bring into RAID 1 mirror set   Rebuild automatically commences     Rebuild in process   Restart now or restart after rebuild is completed

• DNS and DHCP not agreeing on an IP address

  I'm having a problem where our Windows Server 2003 domain controller assigns my Windows 7 computer one IP address (x.x.x.75) via DHCP, but reports another (x.x.x.84) via DNS. This causes some interesting behavior on the network. If I change my adapter settings to get IP and DNS addresses from DHCP, I can access the internet, but no one on our network can access my computer. If I change my IP manually to what DNS says it is, I lose my internet access, but everyone can get to my computer again. I know that we have some old, invalid reverse DNS pointers hanging around (a reverse lookup on an IP address often gives more than one result, usually not including the one that is correct), so that could be contributing, but my problem is recent, and the invalid reverse pointers have been around a long time. What's going on, and how do I fix it?

• Intel P6100 CPU and Mobile Intel® HM55 Express Chipset

  I have an Asus K52F-BBR5 notebook that uses an Intel P6100 ( 2GHZ 15x multiplier) and HM55 Express Chipset. I'm looking to replace it's 3GB with 8GB. The Crucial database seems to indicate that a PC3-8500 CAS 7 and PC3-10666 CAS 9 will both work. I'm not up to date on the latest DDR3 nomencalature and I'm wondering which would provide better performance. The price difference is negligible. Drawing on past experiences from many many years ago I could make an argument for either based on sync/async bus speed arguments and CAS latency differences but the truth is I don't know enough about the HM55 chipset to know which would be the correct choice. Does anyone know the answer or point me to information that would help me make the choice? I'm pretty sure the performance difference will be somewhat negligible also but still I'd like to make the optimal choice.

  I'm creating a simple Isometric game using HTML5 and Javascript, but I can't seem to get the display to work, at the moment i have 9 tiles that have X and Y positions and the player has a X and Y position, the players X and Y properties are set to 100, and the tiles are as shown tiles[0] = new Array(3); tiles[1] = new Array(3); tiles[2] = new Array(3); tiles[0][0] = new point2D( 100, 100); tiles[0][1] = new point2D( 160, 100); tiles[0][2] = new point2D( 220, 100); tiles[1][0] = new point2D( 100, 160); tiles[1][1] = new point2D( 160, 160); tiles[1][2] = new point2D( 220, 160); tiles[2][0] = new point2D( 100, 220); tiles[2][1] = new point2D( 160, 220); tiles[2][2] = new point2D( 220, 220); Now I use this method to work out the isometric position function twoDToIso( point ) { var cords = point2D; cords.x = point.x - point.y; cords.y = (point.x + point.y) / 2; return cords; } point2D is function point2D( x, y) { this.x = x; this.y = y; } Now this i'm sure does work out the correct positioning, but here is the output Isometric view I just need to move my player position a tiny bit, but is that the best way to display my player position in the right position? • How to move 100mb hidden system reserved partition on Windows Server 2008 R2 to other drive?

  Hello! I have a server with two 1.5TB hard drives. I was going to install a Windows Server 2008 R2 and create software RAID1 using Windows Disk Management Utility. I instaleld Windows, open this console and that is what I see: http://i.imgur.com/KoC9a.png Setup program created a System Reserved Partition at my second HDD. I don't understand now, how can I create RAID1, because space, which supposed to be used for copy of disk C, now is used for this hidden partition. So is there any way now to create correct RAID1? May it is possible to move this partition to the Disk 0, where I have plenty of free space? Unfortunately I can't reinstall Windows and apply other options at the disk management step of the installation, because installation image is not longer connected to the server and I have no physical access to server, only remote desktop.

  Hi guys, I've created a text file from an application that I developed. When I send the text file to a SYSTEM Validation, they (3rd Party System) say that the file is invalid and that the file contains 3 characters in the beginning of the file that are not allowed as well special characters are not correct. They also say I need to use either ISO 8859-1 or PC850 Well, I'm using NotePad++ and I can't see that at all! What is the best text file reader for this kinda problems? EDITED I also have a MAC and just a thought I remembered opening in TextMate ... WOW! Now I know what they are talking about! How can I have the same in Windows?

• Nginx config rewriting subdomain name to 1st URI segment

  I'm unable to do the following nginx.conf rewrite: test.mysite.info to: mysite.info/test here's what i've tried: server { server_name test.mysite.info; rewrite ^ https://mysite.info/test/$request_uri; } I know my DNS (Route53 AWS) is correct b/c: test.mysite.info redirects to mysite.info (just not mysite.info/test) I have an Apache server handling mysite.com which using .htaccess I can rewrite test.mysite.com to mysite.com/test. I haven't changed anything else from the default nginx.conf installation so I'm totally confused as to why such a simple thing isn't working. Here is my full nginx.conf file if that is helpful.

• Common mistakes which lead to corrupted invariants

  My main source of income is web development and through this I have come to enjoy the wonders of programming as my knowledge of different languages has increased over the years through work and personal play. At some point I reached a decision that my college education was not enough and that I wanted to go back to school to get a university degree in either computer science or software engineering. I have tried a number of things in my life and it took me a while before I found something that I feel is a passion and this is it. There is one aspect of this area of study that I find throws me off though. I find the formal methods of proving program correctness a challenge. It is not that I have trouble writing code correctly, I can look at an algorithm and see how it is correct or flawed but I struggle sometimes to translate this into formal definitions. I have gotten perfect or near perfect marks on every programming assignment I have done at the college level but I recently got a swath of textbooks from a guy from univeristy of waterloo and found that I have had trouble when it comes to a few of the formalisms. Well at this point its really just one thing specifically, It would really help me if some of you could provide to me some good examples of common mistakes which lead to corrupted invariants, especially in loops. I have a few software engineering and computer science textbooks but they only show how things should be. I would like to know how things go wrong so that it is easier to recognize when it happens. Its almost embarrassing to broach this subject because formalisms are really basic foundations upon which matters of substance are built. I want to overcome this now so that it does not hinder me later.

• sqlcmd won't execute - Claims Native Client not installed properly

  I'm trying to use sqlcmd to execute some SQL scripts. Using a test command with a simple query like: sqlcmd -S HOSTNAME -d MYDATABASE -Q 'SELECT Names FROM Customers' sqlcmd does not appear to make any attempt to connect to the server as it displays this message: Sqlcmd: Error: Connection failure. SQL Native Client is not installed correctly. To correct this, run SQL Server Setup. The native client was presumably installed as part of the SQL Server setup and likely correctly. I actually get this message on any machine with SQL server installed trying to use sqlcmd so it's not a matter of the installation being corrupt. Unfortunately the message really tells me nothing about the problem so I don't know what the real issue is. I know the SQL Native client is working properly since a vbscript was able to execute SQL queries against the database. Is there some additional configuration needed to use sqlcmd?

• A dacpac limitation – Deploy dacpac wizard does not understand SqlCmd variables

  Since the release of SQL Server 2012 I have become a big fan of using dacpacs for deploying SQL Server databases (for reasons that I will explain some other day) and I chose to use a dacpac to distribute my recently announced utility sp_ssiscatalog (read: Introducing sp_ssiscatalog (v1.0.0.0)). Unfortunately if you read that blog post you may have taken note of the following: Ordinarily a dacpac can be deployed to a SQL Server from SSMS using the Deploy Dacpac wizard however in this case there is a limitation. Due to sp_ssiscatalog referring to objects in the SSIS Catalog (which it has to do of course) the dacpac contains a SqlCmd variable to store the name of the database that underpins the SSIS Catalog; unfortunately the Deploy Dacpac wizard in SSMS has a rather gaping limitation in that it cannot deploy dacpacs containing SqlCmd variables. I think it is worth calling out this limitation separately in this blog post because its a limitation that all dacpac users need to be aware of. If you try and deploy the dacpac containing sp_ssiscatalog using the wizard in SSMS then this is what you will see: TITLE: Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio ------------------------------ Could not deploy package. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Dac) ------------------------------ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Missing values for the following SqlCmd variables:SSISDB. (Microsoft.Data.Tools.Schema.Sql) ------------------------------ BUTTONS: OK ------------------------------ The message is quite correct. The SSDT DB project that I used to build this dacpac *does* have a SqlCmd variable in it called SSISDB: Quite simply, the Dac Deployment wizard in SSMS is not capable of deploying such dacpacs. Your only option for deploying such dacpacs is to use the command-line tool sqlpackage.exe. Generally I use sqlpackage.exe anyway (which is why it has taken me months to encounter the aforementioned problem) and have found it preferable to using a GUI-based wizard.   I'm trying to setup two PCs (one Windows, one Linux, but my understanding is that this problem is more DNS and less OS) as follows: Home network: 192.168.1.0/24 VPN (via OpenVPN server not within the home network): 192.168.2.0/24 . I would like a PC on both networks to be able to access three different types of site: Internet addresses Addresses on the home network Addresses on the vpn However, I'm not sure how/which DNS servers to use. If I prioritize my home DNS server, I can resolve (1) and (2), but not (3). If I prioritize my VPN DNS server, I can't resolve addresses of type (2). Of course, looking up addresses via nslookup and explicitly setting the correct server works, so I know my local DNS servers are OK. Is there any way I can set up my PCs to fallback on the second DNS server if there is no response? Alternatively, is there any way I can tell different queries to go to different servers [maybe by setting up different subdomains; foo.local.something vs. bar.vpn.something]? Thanks

• rsync set group owner, group permission

  I want to use rsync to transfer files from my computer to a remote Linux system. Regardless of the local file's group ownership, I want to set these values on the remote side. If I was on the remote Linux system, I could create the directory and set the ownership and permissions as: mkdir my_directory chown :my_group my_directory chmod 775 my_directory If I create the directory locally and then use rsync (remember, I don't have my_group locally), I do: rsync -ae ssh --chmod=ug+rw,Dug+rwx my_directory remoteserver:dest That works, but I cannot figure out how to set the group owner through rsync. If I do a chmod g+s dest, my_directory has the correct group owner but all of the files inside have the incorrect group owner.
