• How to configure a subproject dependency in Maven without deploying jars?

  I googled this and it seems that no one has an answer, yet it seems like such an elementary thing that it should be possible. I have the following project structure: parent ---sub-project1 ---sub-project2 sub-project2 needs to have sub-project1 as a dependency. So I have this in sub-project2's pom: <dependencies> <dependency> <artifactId>sub-project1</artifactId> <groupId>mygroup</groupId> <version>1.0-SNAPSHOT</version> </dependency> .... When I do this, Maven tries to dowload the sub-project1.jar file, which does not exist because it's not ready for the repo yet. I tried to put a <scope>import</scope> in the dependency, but that didn't work either -- same result. So what do I have to do to get Maven to look at sub-project1 when building sub-project2?

• Understanding Wordpress database schema - querying from 3rd party app

  Is there an easy way to grab the latest posts out of a Wordpress wp_posts table using a simple SQL query? I have a Wordpress 2.9.2 installation as part of, but separate from, a larger system. It has a customized theme to look like the rest of the site but has otherwise nothing to do with it. I want to display the latest handful of headlines of posts made using Wordpress on a site of that other system. Preferably I do not want to mess around with importing any of the Wordpress library files. Looking at the database structure I can't see an easy, straight-forward query to simply get the latest revision of the latest posts. The post_status can either be "post" or "inherit", the post_type "post" or "revision" and the parent "0" or the id of the original post of a revision. I can't figure out how to reliably filter different revisions of the same post, drafts, attachments and pages out of this mess and just get the latest revision of the latest posts. I'm aware that the database schema is subject to change in subsequent versions of Wordpress, so shouldn't be relied upon, but that's a minor concern, since it's such a minor feature that could easily be fixed. If I understood how that database is supposed to work, that is.

• Silverlight performance with many loaded controls

  I have a SL application with many DataGrids (from Silverlight Toolkit), each on its own view. If several DataGrids are opened, changing between views (TabItems, for example) takes a long time (few seconds) and it freezes the whole application (UI thread). The more DataGrids are loaded, the longer the change takes. These DataGrids that slow the UI chanage might be on other places in the app and not even visible at that moment. But once they are opened (and loaded with data), they slow showing other DataGrids. Note that DataGrids are NOT disposed and then recreated again, they still remain in memory, only their parent control is being hidden and visible again. I have profiled the application. It shows that agcore.dll's SetValue function is the bottleneck. Unfortunately, debug symbols are not available for this Silverlight native library responsible for drawing. The problem is not in the DataGrid control - I tried to replace it with XCeed's grid and the performance when changing views is even worse. Do you have any idea how to solve this problem? Why more opened controls slow down other controls? I have created a sample that shows this issue: http://cenud.cz/PerfTest.zip UPDATE: Using VS11 profiler on the sample provided suggests that the problem could be in MeasureOverride being called many times (for each DataGridCell, I guess). But still, why is it slower as more controls are loaded elsewhere? Is there a way to improve the performance?

• jQuery removing elements from DOM put still reporting as present

  Hi, I have an address finder system whereby a user enters a postcode, if postcode is validated then an address list is returned and displayed, they then select an address line, the list dissappears and then the address line is split further into some form inputs. The issue i am facing is when they have been through the above process then cleared the postcode form field, hit the find address button and the address list re-appears. Event though the list and parent tr have been removed from the DOM it is still reporting it is present as length 1? • iPhone table header lables not showing up in Release build but show up OK in Debug build

  My table header shows up ok with Release build or Debug build for the iPhone simulator, but the header labels only show up with debug build on the iPhone. No header labels show up on the iPhone for release build. Any ideas? • ASP.NET SqlDataSource update and create FK reference

  The short version: I have a grid view bound to a data source which has a SelectCommand with a left join in it because the FK can be null. On Update I want to create a record in the FK table if the FK is null and then update the parent table with the new records ID. Is this possible to do with just SqlDataSources? The detailed version: I have two tables: Company and Address. The column Company.AddressId can be null. On my ascx page I am using a SqlDataSource to select a left join of company and address and a GridView to display the results. By having my UpdateCommand and DeleteCommand of the SqlDataSource execute two statements separated by a semi-colon I am able to use the GridView's Edit and Delete functionality to update both table simultaneously. The problem I have is when the Company.AddressId is null. What I need to have happen is have the data source create a record in the Address table and then update the Company table with the new Address.ID then proceed with the update as usual. I would like to do this with just data sources if possible for consistency/simplicity sake. Is it possible to have my data source do this, or perhaps add a second data source to the page to handle some of this? Once I have that working I can probably figure out how to make it work with the InsertCommand as well but if you are on a roll and have an answer for how to make that fly as well feel free to provide it. • C++ iterators, default initialization and what to use as an uninitialized sentinel.

  The Context I have a custom template container class put together from a map and vector. The map resolves a string to an ordinal, and the vector resolves an ordinal (only an initial string to ordinal lookup is done, future references are to the vector) to the entry. The entries are modified intrusively to contain a a bool "assigned" and an iterator_type which is a const_iterator to the container class's map. My container class will use RCF's serialization code (which models boost::serialization) to serialize my container classes to nodes in a network. Serializing iterator's is not possible, or a can of worms, and I can easily regenerate them onces the vectors and maps are serialized on the remote site. The Question I need to default initialize, and be able to test that the iterator has not been assigned to (if it is assigned it is valid, if not it is invalid). Since map iterators are not invalidated upon operations performed on it (unless of course items are removed :D) am I to assume that map<x,y>::end() is a valid sentinel (regardless of the state of the map -- i.e., it could be empty) to initialize to ? I will always have access to the parent map, I'm just unsure wheather end() is the same as the map contents change. I don't want to use another level of indirection (--i.e., boost::optional) to achieve my goal, I'd rather forego compiler checks to correct logic, but it would be nice if I didn't need to. Misc This question exists, but most of its content seems non-sense. Assigning a NULL to an iterator is invalid according to g++ and clang++. This is another similar question, but it focuses on the common use-cases of iterators, which generally tends to be using the iterator to iterate, ofcourse in this use-case the state of the container isn't meant to change whilst iteration is going on.

• Tail recursion and memoization with C#

  I'm writing a function that finds the full path of a directory based on a database table of entries. Each record contains a key, the directory's name, and the key of the parent directory (it's the Directory table in an MSI if you're familiar). I had an iterative solution, but it started looking a little nasty. I thought I could write an elegant tail recursive solution, but I'm not sure anymore. I'll show you my code and then explain the issues I'm facing. I want to use memoization to short circuit whenever possible, but that requires me to make a function call to the dictionary to store the output of the recursive ExpandDirectoryKey call. I realize that I also have a Path.Combine call there, but I think that can be circumvented with a ... + Path.DirectorySeparatorChar + .... I thought about using a helper method that would memoize the directory and return the value so that I could call it like this at the end of the function above: return MemoizeHelper( m_directoryKeyToFullPathDictionary, Path.Combine(ExpandDirectoryKey(database, parentDirectoryKey)), directoryName); But I feel like that's cheating and not going to be optimized as tail recursion. Any ideas? Should I be using a completely different strategy? This doesn't need to be a super efficient algorithm at all, I'm just really curious. I'm using .NET 4.0, btw. Thanks!

  How can I remove the present view when I touched the close button. I did [self.view removeFromSuperView] when I added only one subView. It worked. But, I have now added another subView to the previous subView. I need to to get the parent view . How can I do it. My code of adding the subView is here. I want to scroll the richedit vertically such that a specific line number if approximately centered in the visible/display area of the richedit. • Opening URL in New Tab doesn't work in existing, programmatically-opened New Window (Firefox)

  I am building a web app, for myself, to control some servers on my home network, and discovered what I think is very odd behavior in Firefox. If you open a pop-up, via javascript, in Firefox, is it then impossible to open a new tab, via javascript in that pop-up? If not impossible, how do you do it? Given a clean, default Firefox 3.6.3 installation... If I open a page in Firefox and then call var my_window = window.open('http://www.google.com','_blank','top=10'); A brand new "pop-up" window opens. However, if instead I call var my_window = window.open('http://www.google.com'); A get a new tab. HOWEVER... If I call the first version var my_window = window.open('http://www.google.com','_blank','top=10'); And then in the new "pop-up" that opens, I call var my_window = window.open('http://www.google.com'); It opens a new tab in the original window, not a new tab in the pop-up. This seems very odd, and not intuitive at all. Why would the call in the pop-up open a tab in the "parent" window?

  Hi. I have the following nested layout in a dojo 1.4 app: BorderContainer 1 -- Stack Container 1 ----BorderContainer 2 ----BorderContainer 3 The StackContainer is sized with width and height 100%. When I resize the browser window using maximise/restore, the StackContainer correctly resizes to the center region of it's parent BorderContainer. The problem I have is that the StackContainer children (BorderContainer 2 and 3) do not get resized to the StackContainer's contentBox. Is there something special you have to do to force a resize of StackContainer children? I have tried calling StackContainer1.resize() but this makes no difference. Thanks in advance. Additional information: Thanks for the reply peller. The widget hierachy that contains the StackContainer is actually a custom widget, so the StackContainer is not actually in a BorderContainer directly, but has its height and width explicitly set to 100%. This works and the StackContainer is resized correctly on browser maximise. The direct children of the stackcontainer are BorderContainers and it is these BorderContainers that do not get resized when the StackContainer is resized. One point to note is that when the StackContainer is created in markup, the stackcontainer children are empty divs. These divs are then used as placeholders for custom widget creation, e.g. var widget = new com.company.widget(params, placeholderDiv); where placeholderDiv is a direct child of the StackContainer in markup. Should I be adding the programatically created 'widget' to the stackcontainer using addChild instead?

• How to properly set button phase after dragging over button?

  I have a class (mxml) that extends Button while implementing drag/drop support. When I drag one of them onto another, the drag receiver stays stuck in its 'over' phase until I click on it (As if something about DragManager.acceptDragDrop is preventing the MouseEvent from getting to button) Is there a way to make a button re-evaluate its phase after the drop? I've tried fabricating a MouseEvent and sending it to rollOverHandler with no luck.   for example, i have this xml <elements> <a> <b>6</b> <b>5</b> <b>6</b> </a> <a> <b>5</b> <b>5</b> <b>6</b> </a> <a> <b>5</b> <b>5</b> <b>5</b> <b>5</b> </a> </elements> i need a xpath query, which must return me parent tag, only if all its children are equal to 5 (a[3] in this case). Something like that //b[text()="5"]/.. but with check of all children's tags. Please note that number of children tags can be different from node to node. It's possible with only xpath query? thanks

• Does Hibernate support one-to-one associations as pkeys?

  Hi all, Can anyone tell me whether Hibernate supports associations as the pkey of an entity? I thought that this would be supported but I am having a lot of trouble getting any kind of mapping that represents this to work. In particular, with the straight mapping below: @Entity public class EntityBar { @Id @OneToOne(optional = false, mappedBy = "bar") EntityFoo foo // other stuff } I get an org.hibernate.MappingException: "Could not determine type for: EntityFoo, at table: ENTITY_BAR, for columns: [org.hibernate.mapping.Column(foo)]" Diving into the code it seems the ID is always considered a Value type; i.e. "anything that is persisted by value, instead of by reference. It is essentially a Hibernate Type, together with zero or more columns." I could make my EntityFoo a value type by declaring it serializable, but I wouldn't expect this would lead to the right outcome either. I would have thought that Hibernate would consider the type of the column to be integer (or whatever the actual type of the parent's ID is), just like it would with a normal one-to-one link, but this doesn't appear to kick in when I also declare it an ID. Am I going beyond what is possible by trying to combine @OneToOne with @Id? And if so, how could one model this relationship sensibly?
