• Add entry to list and remove first one in Python

  I have a list of about 40 entries. And I frequently want to append an item to the start of the list (with id 0) and want to delete the last entry (with id 40) of the list. how do i do this the best? like: (example with 5 entries) [0] = "herp" [1] = "derp" [2] = "blah" [3] = "what" [4] = "da..." after adding "wuggah" and deleting last it should be like: [0] = "wuggah" [1] = "herp" [2] = "derp" [3] = "blah" [4] = "what" or appending one and deleting first. And I don't want to end up manually moving them one after another all of the entries to the next id.

  Let's say I have a table of customer addresses: CName | AddressLine ------------------------------- John Smith | 123 Nowheresville Jane Doe | 456 Evergreen Terrace John Smith | 999 Somewhereelse Joe Bloggs | 1 Second Ave In the table, one customer like John Smith can have multiple addresses. I need the select query for this table to return only first row found where there are duplicates in 'CName'. For this table it should return all rows except the 3rd (or 1st - any of those two addresses are okay but only one can be returned). Is there a keyword I can add to the SELECT query to filter based on whether the server has already seen the column value before?

  I am currently using the code below and am wondering if it would be possible to query based on an entry value. At the moment it returns the number of rows that have been defined. var q = sqlData.AsEnumerable().Take(2); This data comes in from a database and is imputed into the table but at the moment it only returns database data into the datatable and allows me to select the first two rows and I was wondering if I can query the data table so that I can get the rows that I require based on an index in the actual table itself (e.g. in the table I find five rows and query this information out).

• Matching First Alphanumeric Character skipping (The |An? )

  I have a list of artists, albums and tracks that I want to sort using the first letter of their respective name. The issue arrives when I want to ignore "The ", "A ", "An " and other various non-alphanumeric characters (Talking to you "Weird Al" Yankovic and [dialog]). Django has a nice start '^(An?|The) +' but I want to ignore those and a few others of my choice. I am doing this in Django, using a MySQL db with utf8_bin collation. EDIT Well my fault for not mentioning this but the database I am accessing is pretty much ready only. It's created and maintained by Amarok and I can't alter it without a whole mess of issues. That being said the artist table has The Chemical Brothers listed as The Chemical Brothers so I think I am stuck here. It probably will be slow but that's not so much of a concern for me as it's a personal project.

  I'm trying to follow the "Your first project" tutorial at http://wiki.fluentnhibernate.org/Getting_started and have hit a roadblock. When I try to run the console application, I'm getting this error: An invalid or incomplete configuration was used while creating a SessionFactory. Check PotentialReasons collection, and InnerException for more detail. I have created a SQLite database "firstProject.db" and referenced the full path to the file in the call to: return Fluently.Configure() .Database(SQLiteConfiguration.Standard .UsingFile(DbFile)) .Mappings(m => m.FluentMappings.AddFromAssemblyOf<Program>()) .ExposeConfiguration(BuildSchema) .BuildSessionFactory(); so I don't know what I'm doing wrong. • iphone sdk: Table view not working in the first 5 tabs but in the more view

  Hi, I only started with sdk but this problem is bugging me now for a view days: I created a UITableView and added it to my Tabs. When this TableView is in the first 4 Tabs and u go look at it, it only shows the items on the table but when clicking on them nothing happens (it doesn't go to the next view). BUT when i put this same tab behind the 5th so it goes in the automatic MORE view everything works fine. I'm assuming this is because this more view is implementing some kind of table class. But i can't figure it out. I compared all the files with a working example but it seems to be all the same. ah ya my current project is a window based application. Though i copied most of the code from a navigation based application. Any ideas?

  I am trying to sort a List of 2D Points first by x co-ordinate and then by y co-ordinate. The program uses a JTextField for some text entry and a JLabel to indicate the text to be entered.   Does anyone have an experience with some discrete event simulation library that could be used in .NET (C#)? Despite the basic functionality for queing events and dispatching them, it would be fine to have some non-deterministic behavior (e.g. failures simulation). • HTML-like GUI Framework in Java

  I was recently brought onto a project where we are developing a lot GUI elements for BlackBerry devices. The standard RIM APIs are pretty basic, almost never do what is required and are difficult or impossible to extend, so we end up re-implementing chunks of it. Currently the code we have isn't super organized and factored so there are lots of little tricks that get implemented over and over again. I had a thought about how to aid development efforts on this platform and wanted to see if the community could tell me if I'm still sane or if I've gone totally nuts. By far, the biggest organizational problem I've run into is making sure that each screen is laid out properly with proper padding and such. I have investigated other GUI frameworks but, for a variety of reasons, it is difficult to find one that suites our purposes. One potential solution that came to me is to create a GUI framework who's API resembles HTML/CSS. This would allow for things like padding, margins, borders and colours to be handled through a sort of CSS API while the content would be organized using the HTML part of the API. It might look something like this: public class OptionsScreen extends Document { public OptionsScreen() { // You would set the style (like CSS style) through the constructor.   Hello, I am writing my first shader in WebGL. I was wondering if the GLSL language has any way to evaluate if an attribute or a uniform is null. According to the specs it does not support to do something like if (attributeX) { dothis(); } else{ dothat(): } And I think it would be a waste to write a bool attribute for each of these cases would be a waste. Another question: what happen during rendering when you don't pass along the uniforms or attribs to the shader? Thanks!

  Heya! I'm making a role-playing game, and I want to have a Map View and a Battle Screen. With the possibility of other screens as well. I thought the best way to achieve this was to use multiple NIB files. When I prototyped this by have one view that creates content, switches to the next view, and then back, the content on the original view was reset. How do I make it so that the first view doesn't reset the data each time it's loaded? Thanks!

• Need a push in the right direction, to write my first functional test in Rails

  I've read quiet a bit of documentation over the last few days about testing in Rails, I'm sitting down to write my first real test and not 100% sure how to tie what I have learned together to achieve the following functional test (testing a controller) I need to send a GET request to a URL and pass 3 parameters (simple web-service), if the functionality works the keyword true is simply returned, otherwise the keyword false is returned - its in only value returned & not contained in any <div>, <span> or other tags. The test should assert that if "true" is returned the test is successful. This is probably very simple so apologies for such a non-challenging question. If anyone could point me in the write direction on how I can get started, particularly how I can test the response, I'd be very grateful!

• Warn user of .NET Framework requirements

  So I have an app (tool) that uses .NET 3.0. When run on a machine that only has .NET 2.0 (like the default Server 2008 R2 install) it crashes miserably. What I've seen so far is that people are using a shunt that will first check the .NET version. Is there a way to build it or add some manifest somehow so that the user is warned of this problem (and hopefully be prompted to install .NET)? I know this can be solved by an installer, but I have requirements that need it to be a standalone executable.
