  • First html5 website, see any mistakes?

    - by noxxten
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/921159/designgoods/index.html I've made my first html5 website by converting another blog theme I had. It's actually a pretty sloppy job since its a learning experience and all. I know some files (like favicons and some scripts) are useless/not linked, but seeing as this is a test I won't bother creating them. But do you see any mistakes I made? Any 'better practices' to point out? :) Any C&C is very welcome and appreciated!

  • ASP.NET MVC 3 NOT showing appropriate view, action called using jquery

    - by TunAntun
    I have a small problem. My action is : public ViewResult SearchForRooms(int HotelDDL) { List<Room> roomsInHotel = bl.ReturnRoomsPerHotel(HotelDDL); return View(roomsInHotel); } Here is the jquery that is calling the action: <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript"> $(document).ready(function () { $("#HotelDDL").change(function () { var text = $("#HotelDDL option:selected").text(); var value = $("#HotelDDL option:selected").val(); alert("Selected text=" + text + " Selected value= " + value); $.post("/Home/SearchForRooms", { HotelDDL: $("#HotelDDL option:selected").val() }); }); }); </script> And finally, here is the View that should be called: @model IEnumerable<RoomReservation.Entities.Entities.Room> @{ ViewBag.Title = "Search"; } <h2>Result</h2> <table> <tr> <th> City </th> <th> Hotel </th> <th> Room label </th> <th> Number of beds </th> <th> Price per night </th> <th></th> </tr> @foreach (var item in Model) { <tr> <td> @Html.DisplayFor(modelitem=>item.Hotel.City.Name) </td> <td> @Html.DisplayFor(modelItem => item.Hotel.Name) </td> <td> @Html.DisplayFor(modelItem => item.Name) </td> <td> @Html.DisplayFor(modelItem => item.NumberOfBeds) </td> <td> @Html.DisplayFor(modelItem => item.PricePerNight) </td> </tr> } </table> Everthing is working ok (databse return all rooms correctly) except final view rendering. I have tried Phil's tool but it doesn't give me any suspicious hints: RouteDebug.RouteDebugger.RewriteRoutesForTesting(RouteTable.Routes); So, why is it not showing after jscript send it's post method to SearchForRooms()? Thank you P.S. If you need any other piece of code please just say so.

  • Writing my first blackberry app

    - by skyeagle
    I am contemplating writing my first blackberry app. I am fundamentally, a C/C++ programmer (not Java), can anyone provide some guidelines on the quickest route (i.e. shallowest learning curve) to writing a blackberry app? Any resources/links would be useful. As an aside: In an ideal world, I would like to write once and deploy for both Blackberry and the iPhone, but since I am targetting largely business people, I guess blackberry should be my target - right? Is it possible to write once and deploy on BOTH iphone and BB?

  • Load all tab bar views when application first runs

    - by codenoobie
    Here's the problem. I have a tab bar controller with 4 separate views. When I navigate from the first view to the second view, it takes some time to load up the second view. What I want to do is be able to load and initialize all of my tab bar views during my splash screen. That way, when the user navigates between the tab views, there is no wait time. So the question is... how do I manually initialize my individual tab bar views in my app delegate? And once again, thank you stackoverflow!

  • How do I branch if message.properties-code exists

    - by skurt
    I want to branch if a message-property-code does exist or not. <g:if test="${message(code: 'default.code.foo')}"> true </g:if><g:else> false </g:else> should answer true if there a message property named default.code.foo and false if not. It fails because it answers the code if there is no property for it.

  • Problem with sending "SetCookie" first in php code

    - by Camran
    According to this manual: http://us2.php.net/setcookie I have to set the cookie before anything else. Here is my cookie code: if (isset($_COOKIE['watched_ads'])){ $expir = time()+1728000; //20 days $ad_arr = unserialize($_COOKIE['watched_ads']); $arr_elem = count($ad_arr); if (in_array($ad_id, $ad_arr) == FALSE){ if ($arr_elem>10){ array_shift($ad_arr); } $ad_arr[]=$ad_id; setcookie('watched_ads', serialize($ad_arr), $expir, '/'); } } else { $expir = time()+1728000; //20 days $ad_arr[] = $ad_id; setcookie('watched_ads', serialize($ad_arr), $expir, '/'); } As you can see I am using variables in setting the cookie. The variables comes from a mysql_query and I have to do the query first. But then, if I do, I will get an error message: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by ... The error points to the line where I set the cookie above. What should I do?a

  • What was your first home computer?

    - by Adam Tegen
    What was your first home computer? The one that made you "fall in love" with programming. There are 300+ entries, many (most?) of which are duplicates. As with all StackOverflow Poll type Q&As, please make certain your answer is NOT listed already before adding a new answer - searching doesn't always find it (model naming variations, I assume). If it already exists, vote that one up so we see what the most popular answer is, rather than duplicating an existing entry. If you see a duplicate, vote it down so the top entries have only one of each model listed. If you have interesting or additional information to add, use a comment or edit the original entry rather than creating a duplicate.

  • Did anyone created the Java Code Formatter Profile for Eclipse IDE that conforms to the Android Code

    - by yvolk
    Android Code Style Guide defines "Android Code Style Rules". To conform to these rules one have to change quite a number of settings of the Java Code Formatter (Window-Preferences-Java-Formatter) default profile (in Eclipse IDE). Did anyone managed to configure the formatter to follow the "Android Code Style Rules" already? PS: I've tried to do this myself but I've found that there are too many formatter options available, and most of them are not mentioned in the Code Style Guide :-(

  • on page load clone first image from collection of photos

    - by user313378
    On my page I'm getting collection of photos, and I store them as thumbs below showImage div which needs to be refreshed with cloned image onclick. Basically everything is ok except I need to populate this showImage div onpage load with first image, and then to use this onclick clone which already works. <a href="/Property/GetImage/someIntId"> <img id="someIntId" class="details" width="100" height="100" src="/Property/GetImage/7" alt=""> </a> function onPopUp() { $(".details").click(function (event) { //clone the clicked image var clone = $(this).clone(); clone.height("250px").width("280px"); //place it in the placeholder $('div#showImage').html(clone); }); }

  • How to set the focus on the first <select> element of the page using JQuery?

    - by user605660
    Hi. I would like to set the focus on the first element of the page using JQuery when the page is loaded. I could successfully set the focus for first element by using $(":input:visible:first").focus(); or $(':input:enabled:visible:first').focus(); , according to jquery, set focus on the first enabled input or select or textarea on the page . I tried to use something like $('select:first').focus(); or $("select").first().focus(); or $(':visible:first').focus(); or $('enabled:visible:first').focus(); or other variations I could think of, but have not succeeded. Could anyone help me on this problem? I am a beginner for JQuery. I would like this function to work for all major browsers. Thank you very much!

  • Valid JavaScript code that is NOT valid ActionScript 3.0 code?

    - by knorv
    Most JavaScript code is also syntactically valid ActionScript 3.0 code. However, there are exceptions which leads me to my question: Which constructs/features in JavaScript are syntactically invalid in ActionScript 3.0? Please provide concrete examples of JavaScript code (basic JavaScript code without DOM API usage) that is NOT valid ActionScript 3.0 code.

  • Loop function works first time, not second time

    - by user1483101
    I'm creating a parsing program to look for certain strings in a a text file and count them. However, I'm having some trouble with one spot. def callbrowse(): filename = tkFileDialog.askopenfilename(filetypes = (("Text files", "*.txt"),("HTML files", ".html;*.htm"),("All files", "*.*"))) print filename try: global filex global writefile filex = open(filename, 'r') print "Success!!" print filename except: print "Failed to open file" ######This returns the correct count only the first time it is run. The next time it ######returns 0. If the browse button is clicked again, then this function returns the ######correct count again. def count_errors(error_name): count = 0 for line in filex: if error_name == "CPU > 79%": stringparse = "Utilization is above" elif error_name == "Stuck touchscreen": stringparse = "Stuck touchscreen" if re.match("(.*)" + "Utilization is above" + "(.*)",line): count = count + 1 return count Thanks for any help. I can't seem to get this to work right.

  • JQuery .get() only passing first two data parameters in url

    - by The.Anti.9
    I have a $.get() call to a PHP page that takes 4 GET parameters. For some reason, despite giving the $.get() call all 4, it only passes the first two. When I look at the dev console in chrome, it shows the URL that gets called, and it only passes action and dbname. Heres the code: $.get('util/util.php', { action: 'start', dbname: db, url: starturl, crawldepth: depth }, function(data) { if (data == 'true') { status = 1; $('#0').append(starturl + "<ul></ul>"); $('#gobutton').hide(); $('#loading').show("slow"); while(status == 1) { setTimeout("update()",10000); } } else { show_error("Form data incomplete!"); } }); and heres the URL that I see in the developer console: http://localhost/pci/util/util.php?action=start&dbname=1hkxorr9ve1kuap2.db

  • javascript timer fires up on the first key press

    - by pedrag
    I have a html page with a timer in it. I'm starting the timer with the keypress event, but i want it to execute only for the first key. I'm using a variable to catch the total keys in an other function which there were pressed and i have something like that: if(totaAttempts==1) start the timer, but with this solution the timer starts correctly, but is stomps when a key is pressed again. Any better ideas? Thanks in advance function setTime() { if (totalAttempts == 1) { ++totalSeconds; secondsLabel.innerHTML = pad(totalSeconds % 60); minutesLabel.innerHTML = pad(parseInt(totalSeconds / 60)); } } function pad(val) { var valString = val + ""; if (valString.length < 2) { return "0" + valString; } else { return valString; } }

  • NHibernate Conventions

    - by Ricardo Peres
    Introduction It seems that nowadays everyone loves conventions! Not the ones that you go to, but the ones that you use, that is! It just happens that NHibernate also supports conventions, and we’ll see exactly how. Conventions in NHibernate are supported in two ways: Naming of tables and columns when not explicitly indicated in the mappings; Full domain mapping. Naming of Tables and Columns Since always NHibernate has supported the concept of a naming strategy. A naming strategy in NHibernate converts class and property names to table and column names and vice-versa, when a name is not explicitly supplied. In concrete, it must be a realization of the NHibernate.Cfg.INamingStrategy interface, of which NHibernate includes two implementations: DefaultNamingStrategy: the default implementation, where each column and table are mapped to identically named properties and classes, for example, “MyEntity” will translate to “MyEntity”; ImprovedNamingStrategy: underscores (_) are used to separate Pascal-cased fragments, for example, entity “MyEntity” will be mapped to a “my_entity” table. The naming strategy can be defined at configuration level (the Configuration instance) by calling the SetNamingStrategy method: 1: cfg.SetNamingStrategy(ImprovedNamingStrategy.Instance); Both the DefaultNamingStrategy and the ImprovedNamingStrategy classes offer singleton instances in the form of Instance static fields. DefaultNamingStrategy is the one NHibernate uses, if you don’t specify one. Domain Mapping In mapping by code, we have the choice of relying on conventions to do the mapping automatically. This means a class will inspect our classes and decide how they will relate to the database objects. The class that handles conventions is NHibernate.Mapping.ByCode.ConventionModelMapper, a specialization of the base by code mapper, NHibernate.Mapping.ByCode.ModelMapper. The ModelMapper relies on an internal SimpleModelInspector to help it decide what and how to map, but the mapper lets you override its decisions.  You apply code conventions like this: 1: //pick the types that you want to map 2: IEnumerable<Type> types = Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly().GetExportedTypes(); 3:  4: //conventions based mapper 5: ConventionModelMapper mapper = new ConventionModelMapper(); 6:  7: HbmMapping mapping = mapper.CompileMappingFor(types); 8:  9: //the one and only configuration instance 10: Configuration cfg = ...; 11: cfg.AddMapping(mapping); This is a very simple example, it lacks, at least, the id generation strategy, which you can add by adding an event handler like this: 1: mapper.BeforeMapClass += (IModelInspector modelInspector, Type type, IClassAttributesMapper classCustomizer) => 2: { 3: classCustomizer.Id(x => 4: { 5: //set the hilo generator 6: x.Generator(Generators.HighLow); 7: }); 8: }; The mapper will fire events like this whenever it needs to get information about what to do. And basically this is all it takes to automatically map your domain! It will correctly configure many-to-one and one-to-many relations, choosing bags or sets depending on your collections, will get the table and column names from the naming strategy we saw earlier and will apply the usual defaults to all properties, such as laziness and fetch mode. However, there is at least one thing missing: many-to-many relations. The conventional mapper doesn’t know how to find and configure them, which is a pity, but, alas, not difficult to overcome. To start, for my projects, I have this rule: each entity exposes a public property of type ISet<T> where T is, of course, the type of the other endpoint entity. Extensible as it is, NHibernate lets me implement this very easily: 1: mapper.IsOneToMany((MemberInfo member, Boolean isLikely) => 2: { 3: Type sourceType = member.DeclaringType; 4: Type destinationType = member.GetMemberFromDeclaringType().GetPropertyOrFieldType(); 5:  6: //check if the property is of a generic collection type 7: if ((destinationType.IsGenericCollection() == true) && (destinationType.GetGenericArguments().Length == 1)) 8: { 9: Type destinationEntityType = destinationType.GetGenericArguments().Single(); 10:  11: //check if the type of the generic collection property is an entity 12: if (mapper.ModelInspector.IsEntity(destinationEntityType) == true) 13: { 14: //check if there is an equivalent property on the target type that is also a generic collection and points to this entity 15: PropertyInfo collectionInDestinationType = destinationEntityType.GetProperties().Where(x => (x.PropertyType.IsGenericCollection() == true) && (x.PropertyType.GetGenericArguments().Length == 1) && (x.PropertyType.GetGenericArguments().Single() == sourceType)).SingleOrDefault(); 16:  17: if (collectionInDestinationType != null) 18: { 19: return (false); 20: } 21: } 22: } 23:  24: return (true); 25: }); 26:  27: mapper.IsManyToMany((MemberInfo member, Boolean isLikely) => 28: { 29: //a relation is many to many if it isn't one to many 30: Boolean isOneToMany = mapper.ModelInspector.IsOneToMany(member); 31: return (!isOneToMany); 32: }); 33:  34: mapper.BeforeMapManyToMany += (IModelInspector modelInspector, PropertyPath member, IManyToManyMapper collectionRelationManyToManyCustomizer) => 35: { 36: Type destinationEntityType = member.LocalMember.GetPropertyOrFieldType().GetGenericArguments().First(); 37: //set the mapping table column names from each source entity name plus the _Id sufix 38: collectionRelationManyToManyCustomizer.Column(destinationEntityType.Name + "_Id"); 39: }; 40:  41: mapper.BeforeMapSet += (IModelInspector modelInspector, PropertyPath member, ISetPropertiesMapper propertyCustomizer) => 42: { 43: if (modelInspector.IsManyToMany(member.LocalMember) == true) 44: { 45: propertyCustomizer.Key(x => x.Column(member.LocalMember.DeclaringType.Name + "_Id")); 46:  47: Type sourceType = member.LocalMember.DeclaringType; 48: Type destinationType = member.LocalMember.GetPropertyOrFieldType().GetGenericArguments().First(); 49: IEnumerable<String> names = new Type[] { sourceType, destinationType }.Select(x => x.Name).OrderBy(x => x); 50:  51: //set inverse on the relation of the alphabetically first entity name 52: propertyCustomizer.Inverse(sourceType.Name == names.First()); 53: //set mapping table name from the entity names in alphabetical order 54: propertyCustomizer.Table(String.Join("_", names)); 55: } 56: }; We have to understand how the conventions mapper thinks: For each collection of entities found, it will ask the mapper if it is a one-to-many; in our case, if the collection is a generic one that has an entity as its generic parameter, and the generic parameter type has a similar collection, then it is not a one-to-many; Next, the mapper will ask if the collection that it now knows is not a one-to-many is a many-to-many; Before a set is mapped, if it corresponds to a many-to-many, we set its mapping table. Now, this is tricky: because we have no way to maintain state, we sort the names of the two endpoint entities and we combine them with a “_”; for the first alphabetical entity, we set its relation to inverse – remember, on a many-to-many relation, only one endpoint must be marked as inverse; finally, we set the column name as the name of the entity with an “_Id” suffix; Before the many-to-many relation is processed, we set the column name as the name of the other endpoint entity with the “_Id” suffix, as we did for the set. And that’s it. With these rules, NHibernate will now happily find and configure many-to-many relations, as well as all the others. You can wrap this in a new conventions mapper class, so that it is more easily reusable: 1: public class ManyToManyConventionModelMapper : ConventionModelMapper 2: { 3: public ManyToManyConventionModelMapper() 4: { 5: base.IsOneToMany((MemberInfo member, Boolean isLikely) => 6: { 7: return (this.IsOneToMany(member, isLikely)); 8: }); 9:  10: base.IsManyToMany((MemberInfo member, Boolean isLikely) => 11: { 12: return (this.IsManyToMany(member, isLikely)); 13: }); 14:  15: base.BeforeMapManyToMany += this.BeforeMapManyToMany; 16: base.BeforeMapSet += this.BeforeMapSet; 17: } 18:  19: protected virtual Boolean IsManyToMany(MemberInfo member, Boolean isLikely) 20: { 21: //a relation is many to many if it isn't one to many 22: Boolean isOneToMany = this.ModelInspector.IsOneToMany(member); 23: return (!isOneToMany); 24: } 25:  26: protected virtual Boolean IsOneToMany(MemberInfo member, Boolean isLikely) 27: { 28: Type sourceType = member.DeclaringType; 29: Type destinationType = member.GetMemberFromDeclaringType().GetPropertyOrFieldType(); 30:  31: //check if the property is of a generic collection type 32: if ((destinationType.IsGenericCollection() == true) && (destinationType.GetGenericArguments().Length == 1)) 33: { 34: Type destinationEntityType = destinationType.GetGenericArguments().Single(); 35:  36: //check if the type of the generic collection property is an entity 37: if (this.ModelInspector.IsEntity(destinationEntityType) == true) 38: { 39: //check if there is an equivalent property on the target type that is also a generic collection and points to this entity 40: PropertyInfo collectionInDestinationType = destinationEntityType.GetProperties().Where(x => (x.PropertyType.IsGenericCollection() == true) && (x.PropertyType.GetGenericArguments().Length == 1) && (x.PropertyType.GetGenericArguments().Single() == sourceType)).SingleOrDefault(); 41:  42: if (collectionInDestinationType != null) 43: { 44: return (false); 45: } 46: } 47: } 48:  49: return (true); 50: } 51:  52: protected virtual new void BeforeMapManyToMany(IModelInspector modelInspector, PropertyPath member, IManyToManyMapper collectionRelationManyToManyCustomizer) 53: { 54: Type destinationEntityType = member.LocalMember.GetPropertyOrFieldType().GetGenericArguments().First(); 55: //set the mapping table column names from each source entity name plus the _Id sufix 56: collectionRelationManyToManyCustomizer.Column(destinationEntityType.Name + "_Id"); 57: } 58:  59: protected virtual new void BeforeMapSet(IModelInspector modelInspector, PropertyPath member, ISetPropertiesMapper propertyCustomizer) 60: { 61: if (modelInspector.IsManyToMany(member.LocalMember) == true) 62: { 63: propertyCustomizer.Key(x => x.Column(member.LocalMember.DeclaringType.Name + "_Id")); 64:  65: Type sourceType = member.LocalMember.DeclaringType; 66: Type destinationType = member.LocalMember.GetPropertyOrFieldType().GetGenericArguments().First(); 67: IEnumerable<String> names = new Type[] { sourceType, destinationType }.Select(x => x.Name).OrderBy(x => x); 68:  69: //set inverse on the relation of the alphabetically first entity name 70: propertyCustomizer.Inverse(sourceType.Name == names.First()); 71: //set mapping table name from the entity names in alphabetical order 72: propertyCustomizer.Table(String.Join("_", names)); 73: } 74: } 75: } Conclusion Of course, there is much more to mapping than this, I suggest you look at all the events and functions offered by the ModelMapper to see where you can hook for making it behave the way you want. If you need any help, just let me know!

  • Stumbling Through: Visual Studio 2010 (Part III)

    The last post ended with us just getting started on stumbling into text template file customization, a task that required a Visual Studio extension (Tangible T4 Editor) to even have a chance at completing.  Despite the benefits of the Tangible T4 Editor, I still had a hard time putting together a solid text template that would be easy to explain.  This is mostly due to the way the files allow you to mix code (encapsulated in <# #>) with straight-up text to generate.  It is effective to be sure, but not very readable.  Nevertheless, I will try and explain what was accomplished in my custom tt file, though the details of which are not really the point of this article (my way of saying dont criticize my crappy code, and certainly dont use it in any somewhat real application.  You may become dumber just by looking at this code.  You have been warned really the footnote I should put at the end of all of my blog posts). To begin with, there were two basic requirements that I needed the code generator to satisfy:  Reading one to many entity framework files, and using the entities that were found to write one to many class files.  Thankfully, using the Entity Object Generator as a starting point gave us an example on how to do exactly that by using the MetadataLoader and EntityFrameworkTemplateFileManager you include references to these items and use them like so: // Instantiate an entity framework file reader and file writer MetadataLoader loader = new MetadataLoader(this); EntityFrameworkTemplateFileManager fileManager = EntityFrameworkTemplateFileManager.Create(this); // Load the entity model metadata workspace MetadataWorkspace metadataWorkspace = null; bool allMetadataLoaded =loader.TryLoadAllMetadata("MFL.tt", out metadataWorkspace); EdmItemCollection ItemCollection = (EdmItemCollection)metadataWorkspace.GetItemCollection(DataSpace.CSpace); // Create an IO class to contain the 'get' methods for all entities in the model fileManager.StartNewFile("MFL.IO.gen.cs"); Next, we want to be able to loop through all of the entities found in the model, and then each property for each entity so we can generate classes and methods for each.  The code for that is blissfully simple: // Iterate through each entity in the model foreach (EntityType entity in ItemCollection.GetItems<EntityType>().OrderBy(e => e.Name)) {     // Iterate through each primitive property of the entity     foreach (EdmProperty edmProperty in entity.Properties.Where(p => p.TypeUsage.EdmType is PrimitiveType && p.DeclaringType == entity))     {         // TODO:  Create properties     }     // Iterate through each relationship of the entity     foreach (NavigationProperty navProperty in entity.NavigationProperties.Where(np => np.DeclaringType == entity))     {         // TODO:  Create associations     } } There really isnt anything more advanced than that going on in the text template the only thing I had to blunder through was realizing that if you want the generator to interpret a line of code (such as our iterations above), you need to enclose the code in <# and #> while if you want the generator to interpret the VALUE of code, such as putting the entity name into the class name, you need to enclose the code in <#= and #> like so: public partial class <#=entity.Name#> To make a long story short, I did a lot of repetition of the above to come up with a text template that generates a class for each entity based on its properties, and a set of IO methods for each entity based on its relationships.  The two work together to provide lazy-loading for hierarchical data (such getting Team.Players) so it should be pretty intuitive to use on a front-end.  This text template is available here you can tweak the inputFiles array to load one or many different edmx models and generate the basic xml IO and class files, though it will probably only work correctly in the simplest of cases, like our MFL model described in the previous post.  Additionally, there is no validation, logging or error handling which is something I want to handle later by stumbling through the enterprise library 5.0. The code that gets generated isnt anything special, though using the LINQ to XML feature was something very new and exciting for me I had only worked with XML in the past using the DOM or XML Reader objects along with XPath, and the LINQ to XML model is just so much more elegant and supposedly efficient (something to test later).  For example, the following code was generated to create a Player object for each Player node in the XML:         return from element in GetXmlData(_PlayerDataFile).Descendants("Player")             select new Player             {                 Id = int.Parse(element.Attribute("Id").Value)                 ,ParentName = element.Parent.Name.LocalName                 ,ParentId = long.Parse(element.Parent.Attribute("Id").Value)                 ,Name = element.Attribute("Name").Value                 ,PositionId = int.Parse(element.Attribute("PositionId").Value)             }; It is all done in one line of code, no looping needed.  Even though GetXmlData loads the entire xml file just like the old XML DOM approach would have, it is supposed to be much less resource intensive.  I will definitely put that to the test after we develop a user interface for getting at this data.  Speaking of the data where IS the data?  Weve put together a pretty model and a bunch of code around it, but we dont have any data to speak of.  We can certainly drop to our favorite XML editor and crank out some data, but if it doesnt totally match our model, it will not load correctly.  To help with this, Ive built in a method to generate xml at any given layer in the hierarchy.  So for us to get the closest possible thing to real data, wed need to invoke MFL.IO.GenerateTeamXML and save the results to file.  Doing so should get us something that looks like this: <Team Id="0" Name="0">   <Player Id="0" Name="0" PositionId="0">     <Statistic Id="0" PassYards="0" RushYards="0" Year="0" />   </Player> </Team> Sadly, it is missing the Positions node (havent thought of a way to generate lookup xml yet) and the data itself isnt quite realistic (well, as realistic as MFL data can be anyway).  Lets manually remedy that for now to give us a decent starter set of data.  Note that this is TWO xml files Lookups.xml and Teams.xml: <Lookups Id=0>   <Position Id="0" Name="Quarterback"/>   <Position Id="1" Name="Runningback"/> </Lookups> <Teams Id=0>   <Team Id="0" Name="Chicago">     <Player Id="0" Name="QB Bears" PositionId="0">       <Statistic Id="0" PassYards="4000" RushYards="120" Year="2008" />       <Statistic Id="1" PassYards="4200" RushYards="180" Year="2009" />     </Player>     <Player Id="1" Name="RB Bears" PositionId="1">       <Statistic Id="2" PassYards="0" RushYards="800" Year="2007" />       <Statistic Id="3" PassYards="0" RushYards="1200" Year="2008" />       <Statistic Id="4" PassYards="3" RushYards="1450" Year="2009" />     </Player>   </Team> </Teams> Ok, so we have some data, we have a way to read/write that data and we have a friendly way of representing that data.  Now, what remains is the part that I have been looking forward to the most: present the data to the user and give them the ability to add/update/delete, and doing so in a way that is very intuitive (easy) from a development standpoint.Did you know that DotNetSlackers also publishes .net articles written by top known .net Authors? • Play Framework: Error getting sequence nextval using H2 in-memory database

  • .NET Framework generates strange DCOM error

    - by Anders Oestergaard Jensen
    Hello, I am creating a simple application that enables merging of key-value pairs fields in a Word and/or Excel document. Until this day, the application has worked out just fine. I am using the latest version of .NET Framework 4.0 (since it provides a nice wrapper API for Interop). My sample merging method looks like this: public byte[] ProcessWordDocument(string path, List<KeyValuePair<string, string>> kvs) { logger.InfoFormat("ProcessWordDocument: path = {0}", path); var localWordapp = new Word.Application(); localWordapp.Visible = false; Word.Document doc = null; try { doc = localWordapp.Documents.Open(path, ReadOnly: false); logger.Debug("Executing Find->Replace..."); foreach (Word.Range r in doc.StoryRanges) { foreach (KeyValuePair<string, string> kv in kvs) { r.Find.Execute(Replace: Word.WdReplace.wdReplaceAll, FindText: kv.Key, ReplaceWith: kv.Value, Wrap: Word.WdFindWrap.wdFindContinue); } } logger.Debug("Done! Saving document and cleaning up"); doc.Save(); doc.Close(); System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.ReleaseComObject(doc); localWordapp.Quit(); System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.ReleaseComObject(localWordapp); logger.Debug("Done."); return System.IO.File.ReadAllBytes(path); } catch (Exception ex) { // Logging... // doc.Close(); if (doc != null) { doc.Close(); System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.ReleaseComObject(doc); } localWordapp.Quit(); System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.ReleaseComObject(localWordapp); throw; } } The above C# snippet has worked all fine (compiled and deployed unto a Windows Server 2008 x64) with latest updates installed. But now, suddenly, I get the following strange error: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80080005): Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {000209FF-0000-0000-C000-000000000046} failed due to the following error: 80080005 Server execution failed (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80080005 (CO_E_SERVER_EXEC_FAILURE)). at System.RuntimeTypeHandle.CreateInstance(RuntimeType type, Boolean publicOnly, Boolean noCheck, Boolean& canBeCached, RuntimeMethodHandleInternal& ctor, Boolean& bNeedSecurityCheck) at System.RuntimeType.CreateInstanceSlow(Boolean publicOnly, Boolean skipCheckThis, Boolean fillCache) at System.RuntimeType.CreateInstanceDefaultCtor(Boolean publicOnly, Boolean skipVisibilityChecks, Boolean skipCheckThis, Boolean fillCache) at System.Activator.CreateInstance(Type type, Boolean nonPublic) at Meeho.Integration.OfficeHelper.ProcessWordDocument(String path, List`1 kvs) in C:\meeho\src\webservices\Meeho.Integration\OfficeHelper.cs:line 30 at Meeho.IntegrationService.ConvertDocument(Byte[] template, String ext, String[] fields, String[] values) in C:\meeho\src\webservices\MeehoService\IntegrationService.asmx.cs:line 49 -- I googled the COM error, but it returns nothing of particular value. • REST web service keeps first POST parametrs

    - by Diego
    I have a web service in REST, designed with Java and deployed on Tomcat. This is the web service structure: @Path("Personas") public class Personas { @Context private UriInfo context; /** * Creates a new instance of ServiceResource */ public Personas() { } @GET @Produces("text/html") public String consultarEdad (@QueryParam("nombre") String nombre) { ConectorCliente c = new ConectorCliente("root", "cafe.sql", "test"); int edad = c.consultarEdad(nombre); if (edad == Integer.MIN_VALUE) return "-1"; return String.valueOf(edad); } @POST @Produces("text/html") public String insertarPersona(@QueryParam("nombre") String msg, @QueryParam("edad") int edad) { ConectorCliente c = new ConectorCliente("usr", "passwd", "dbname"); c.agregar(msg, edad); return "listo"; } } Where ConectorCliente class is MySQL connector and querying class. So, I had tested this with the @GET actually doing POST work, any user inputed data and information from ma Java FX app and it went direct to webservice's database. However, I changed so the CREATE operation was performed through a webservice responding to an actual POST HTTP request. However, when I run the client and add some info, parameters go OK, but in next time I input different parameters it'll input the same. I run this several times and I can't get the reason of it. This is the clients code: public class WebServicePersonasConsumer { private WebTarget webTarget; private Client client; private static final String BASE_URI = "http://localhost:8080/GetSomeRest/serviciosweb/"; public WebServicePersonasConsumer() { client = javax.ws.rs.client.ClientBuilder.newClient(); webTarget = client.target(BASE_URI).path("Personas"); } public <T> T insertarPersona(Class<T> responseType, String nombre, String edad) throws ClientErrorException { String[] queryParamNames = new String[]{"nombre", "edad"}; String[] queryParamValues = new String[]{nombre, edad}; ; javax.ws.rs.core.Form form = getQueryOrFormParams(queryParamNames, queryParamValues); javax.ws.rs.core.MultivaluedMap<String, String> map = form.asMap(); for (java.util.Map.Entry<String, java.util.List<String>> entry : map.entrySet()) { java.util.List<String> list = entry.getValue(); String[] values = list.toArray(new String[list.size()]); webTarget = webTarget.queryParam(entry.getKey(), (Object[]) values); } return webTarget.request().post(null, responseType); } public <T> T consultarEdad(Class<T> responseType, String nombre) throws ClientErrorException { String[] queryParamNames = new String[]{"nombre"}; String[] queryParamValues = new String[]{nombre}; ; javax.ws.rs.core.Form form = getQueryOrFormParams(queryParamNames, queryParamValues); javax.ws.rs.core.MultivaluedMap<String, String> map = form.asMap(); for (java.util.Map.Entry<String, java.util.List<String>> entry : map.entrySet()) { java.util.List<String> list = entry.getValue(); String[] values = list.toArray(new String[list.size()]); webTarget = webTarget.queryParam(entry.getKey(), (Object[]) values); } return webTarget.request(javax.ws.rs.core.MediaType.TEXT_HTML).get(responseType); } private Form getQueryOrFormParams(String[] paramNames, String[] paramValues) { Form form = new javax.ws.rs.core.Form(); for (int i = 0; i < paramNames.length; i++) { if (paramValues[i] != null) { form = form.param(paramNames[i], paramValues[i]); } } return form; } public void close() { client.close(); } } And this this the code when I perform the operations in a Java FX app: String nombre = nombreTextField.getText(); String edad = edadTextField.getText(); String insertToDatabase = consumidor.insertarPersona(String.class, nombre, edad); So, as parameters are taken from TextFields, is quite odd why second, third, fourth and so on POSTS post the SAME.

    Made a module that creates some customer EAV attributes. One of these attributes is a Select, and I'm dropping a bunch of options into their respective tables. Everything lines up and is accessible on both the front end and the back. Last thing before calling this part of things finished is the sort order of the options. They come out all scrambled, instead of the obvious default or alphabetical (seemingly at random... very wierd). I'm on Mage v1.11 (Pro/Enterprise). config.xml <config> <modules> <WACI_CustomerAttr> <version>0.1.0</version> </WACI_CustomerAttr> </modules> <global> <resources> <customerattr_setup> <setup> <module>WACI_CustomerAttr</module> <class>Mage_Customer_Model_Entity_Setup</class> </setup> <connection> <use>core_setup</use> </connection> </customerattr_setup> </resources> <models> <WACI_CustomerAttr> <class>WACI_CustomerAttr_Model</class> </WACI_CustomerAttr> </models> <fieldsets> <customer_account> <agency><create>1</create><update>1</update></agency> <title><create>1</create><update>1</update></title> <phone><create>1</create><update>1</update></phone> <mailing_address><create>1</create><update>1</update></mailing_address> <city><create>1</create><update>1</update></city> <state><create>1</create><update>1</update></state> <zip><create>1</create><update>1</update></zip> <fed_id><create>1</create><update>1</update></fed_id> <ubi><create>1</create><update>1</update></ubi> </customer_account> </fieldsets> </global> </config> mysql4-install-0.1.0.php <?php Mage::log('Installing WACI_CustomerAttr'); echo 'Running Upgrade: '.get_class($this)."\n <br /> \n"; //die ( 'its running' ); $installer = $this; /* @var $installer Mage_Customer_Model_Entity_Setup */ $installer->startSetup(); // bunch of attributes // State $installer->addAttribute('customer','state', array( 'type' => 'varchar', 'group' => 'Default', 'label' => 'State', 'input' => 'select', 'default' => 'Washington', 'source' => 'WACI_CustomerAttr/customer_attribute_data_select', 'global' => Mage_Catalog_Model_Resource_Eav_Attribute::SCOPE_STORE, 'required' => true, 'visible' => true, 'user_defined' => 1, 'position' => 67 ) ); $attrS = Mage::getSingleton('eav/config')->getAttribute('customer', 'state'); $attrS->addData(array('sort_order'=>67)); $attrS->setData('used_in_forms', array('adminhtml_customer','customer_account_edit','customer_account_create'))->save(); $state_list = array('Alabama','Alaska','Arizona','Arkansas','California','Colorado','Connecticut','Delaware','Florida','Georgia', 'Hawaii','Idaho','Illinois','Indiana','Iowa','Kansas','Kentucky','Louisiana','Maine','Maryland','Massachusetts','Michigan', 'Minnesota','Mississippi','Missouri','Montana','Nebraska','Nevada','New Hampshire','New Jersey','New Mexico','New York', 'North Carolina','North Dakota','Ohio','Oklahoma','Oregon','Pennsylvania','Rhode Island','South Carolina','South Dakota', 'Tennessee','Texas','Utah','Vermont','Virginia','Washington','West Virginia','Wisconsin','Wyoming'); $aOption = array(); $aOption['attribute_id'] = $installer->getAttributeId('customer', 'state'); for($iCount=0;$iCount<sizeof($state_list);$iCount++){ $aOption['value']['option'.$iCount][0] = $state_list[$iCount]; } $installer->addAttributeOption($aOption); // a few more $installer->endSetup(); app/code/local/WACI/CustomerAttr/Model/Customer/Attribute/Data/Select.php <?php class WACI_CustomerAttr_Model_Customer_Attribute_Data_Select extends Mage_Eav_Model_Entity_Attribute_Source_Abstract{ function getAllOptions(){ if (is_null($this->_options)) { $this->_options = Mage::getResourceModel('eav/entity_attribute_option_collection') ->setAttributeFilter($this->getAttribute()->getId()) ->setStoreFilter($this->getAttribute()->getStoreId()) ->setPositionOrder('asc') ->load() ->toOptionArray(); } $options = $this->_options; return $options; } } theme/variation/template/persistent/customer/form/register.phtml <li> <?php $attribute = Mage::getModel('eav/config')->getAttribute('customer','state'); ?> <label for="state" class="<?php if($attribute->getIsRequired() == true){?>required<?php } ?>"><?php if($attribute->getIsRequired() == true){?><em>*</em><?php } ?><?php echo $this->__('State') ?></label> <div class="input-box"> <select name="state" id="state" class="<?php if($attribute->getIsRequired() == true){?>required-entry<?php } ?>"> <?php $options = $attribute->getSource()->getAllOptions(); foreach($options as $option){ ?> <option value='<?php echo $option['value']?>' <?php if($this->getFormData()->getState() == $option['value']){ echo 'selected="selected"';}?>><?php echo $this->__($option['label'])?></option> <?php } ?> </select> </div> </li> All options are getting loaded into table eav_attribute_option just fine (albeit without a sort_order defined), as well as table eav_attribute_option_value. In the adminhtml / customer-manage customers-account information this select is showing up fine (but its delivered automatically by the system). Seems I should be able to set the sort-order on creation of the attributeOptions, or, certainly, define the sort order in the data/select class. But nothing I've tried works. I'd rather not do a front-end hack either... Oh, and how do I set the default value of this select? (Different question, I know, but related). Setting the attributes 'default' = 'washington' seems to do nothing. There seem to be a lot of ways to set up attribute select options like this. Is there a better way that the one I've outlined here? Perhaps I'm messing something up. Cheers

  • Windows 2012 Server: Enable .NET 3.5

    - by Meengla
    I have a Windows 2012 Server which needs .NET 3.5 installed. For background info/solutions, please see this: http://sqlblog.com/blogs/sergio_govoni/archive/2013/07/13/how-to-install-netfx3-on-windows-server-2012-required-by-sql-server-2012.aspx I have tried this but it doesn't work for me. Here is what I am trying: Using a Windows 2012 ISO file, 'mount' on the 2012 Server as 'D' drive and then tried both GUI and Command prompt. In case of GUI, I specified the 'alternate source' path to the D drive's 'source/sxs folder but that failed without giving enough info. In case of the command prompt, here is what's happening: dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:NetFx3 /source:d:\sources\sxs I get error: Installed but Parent feature not enabled. So I tried another approached: dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:NetFx3 /all /source:d:\sources\sxs the above command, per http://blogs.technet.com/b/askcore/archive/2012/05/14/windows-8-and-net-framework-3-5.aspx is supposed to enable parent elements; but running this I get error like 'source not found'. Is there some error in my second command? What else I could do? This is Windows 2012 Server Standard edition. Thanks!

  • .NET 3.5 installation comes up with Error 0x800F0906, then 0x800F0081F using dism

    - by Austin Meadows
    I've recently tried installing .NET 3.5 for an application on Windows 8.1. I used the OS's popup thing to download/install .NET 3.5 and always get error code 0x800F0906. Upon further research, I found I would have to pop in my Windows 8 CD and install it with this command, where "E:\" is where my CD is mounted: Dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:NetFx3 /All /Source:E:\sources\sxs /LimitAccess This and any derivative of it (e.g., removing /LimitAccess) has not worked for me and has either given me the same error code (0x800F0906) or a different one, 0x800F0081F. I've even copied the sxs folder to my hard drive, just in case something was going on with the CD Drive, only to have the same results. In that case, I used this command line: Dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:NetFx3 /All /Source:C:\dotnet35 /LimitAccess I find this surreal because in both cases, the files are indeed there but the program thinks it's not. Here's the CBS.log file. Any ideas on how to fix this? Any help is very appreciated :) EDIT: I now have a proper dism.log file, I'm not sure what happened to the last one or why it did that. Here's the link to the new log file. It's interesting to note that it doesn't recognize some of the commands in the script such as "featurename" or "source".
