• Reset disk does not work for different model of computer

  I've created a reset USB disk on my HP computer, with Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit, and it works fine. However, it does not work for Acer computers (notebooks too), so what is the problem here? I've have created it for the same user named user, and the password is exactly the same as well. Is it possible to show the language bar with a keyboard shortcut at the logon screen in Windows 7? I know I can do it through Control Panel, but I can't log into the system. When I click Reset Passwword, it shows me my USB flash drive and says that the password hint is on this USB drive. Then I click Next and type the new passwword, then confirm this new password, but an error dialog is shown. It says that an error occured when trying to change the password for this user-

We have built a Web portal-based collaboration platform that we would like to host on five different Windows- and Linux-based servers in different hosting environments that run Web servers. Each of these Windows and Linux servers have a different host name and domain name (and IP address). Out team would appreciate your guidance on: (1) Is there a way to implement this Web portal-based platform on these Linux servers without customizing the host name, domain name and IP address for each individual instance? (2) Is there a way to create some variables using JavaScript for host name and domain name and call them from the different implementations? (3) Can these JavaScript modules be made portable and re-usable object modules for different environments and instances? The portal is written in JavaScript that is embedded in HTML5 and padded with CSS3. Other technologies include Flash, Flex. Databases used are PostgreSQL and MySQL.

Among these controls would be 2 sliders, whose event handling is to be done in CFrameWnd derived class. • Hyperlinks in VS2008 Test Result Details

  In case when resulting string in "Test Result Details" (TRD) is very long, the Visual Studio 2008 crashes. I fixed this by sending the result data into a file. There is a problem, however, because there isn't a simple way to open such file. Of course, I can manually open folder and then the file, but it isn't very efficient. Now, to the questions part. Is there a possibility to include in the "Error Message" part of TRD a hyperlink to a file? (something similar to what we can already find in the stack trace part) If not, is there any way to add such functionality (easy opening of a file) to TRD? If not, are there any ways to expand the default reporting of VS? Thanks for any help.

• MS SQL Specific Tables Hanging at Queries

  I have SQL Server 2008. I run a query in a table on a database. The weirdest thing keeps happening. I run a simple select statement on the table. I know there are 62 rows in the table but it gets stuck at row 48 and goes on "querying...". Waited already for hours and it didn't move on from there. I only know of two programs, and one reporting service connecting to that particular table and one other user. Does anyone have any idea on what could be causing this and how I could trace the source of the lock on that table? As a side note, I noted that the logs only had a notice that Autogrow failed the day before I checked. Could this have something to do with it?

• How can I make windows not mount a drive when it is plugged in?

  Due to my employer's IT policy, I'm not allowed to have any kind of MP3 playing software on my computer. I do however like to plug my iPod into my computer to keep the battery charged during working hours. Normally, I plug the iPod in, Windows mounts the drive, then I have to go in and eject the drive so I can run my iPod normally while still keeping it charged. Is there anyway I can keep Windows from mounting the drive (and this drive only, I still use my USB flash drive a lot) from auto-mounting? Update: Maybe this is more of an iPod issue, but specifically I would like for the iPod to not display the "Do not disconnect" message when plugged in.

  I have a user control that i have registered to an aspx page. Now from the aspx page, i am trying to access one of the registered usercontrol's hiddenfield value in my aspx page using javacript using the below code: tst = document.getElementById('control1$hdnField').value; I looked into the page's trace, and i could see 'control1$hdnField'. Then why i am not getting its value in my aspx page. I have also ensured that the hidden field exits on the user control and has a default value set. Please help.

• How can I watch full size video on 1 monitor and work on another?

  Here is my situation. I have 3 monitors hooked up to my new PC running off 2 video cards. When I watch a video on one of the monitors and make it go full screen on that monitor it is great, however as soon as I click anywhere on one of the other 2 monitors, it makes me lose the full screen mode of the video and makes it go back to it's original size. This happens when watching a flash or silverlight based video in Google chrome as well as when I watch video from a player such as iTunes. Is it possible to make a video play fullscreen on one of my monitors and still work in the other two screens without loosing my full screen mode on the one monitor?

  I have visited more and more pages in internet and read lots of solutions but no one solved my problem. I have my 10 GB win7 recovery partition in my Hard Disk but when I press the F10 button it was not booted from this partition (I use this method to recover my laptop several times recently). So How can I boot from my recovery partition? I copied the partition into a flash drive and tried to boot from usb but it does not take effect. I think if there is a way to recover the F10 button functionality, I can recover my laptop.

• What happened to the ability to go back in a already-loaded YouTube video?

  For many years, my experience with YouTube had been, consistently and on any computer/browser, that once a section of that video were loaded, or the whole video, if you wanted to see an earlier part of the video again, you could simply click on the loading bar to that area and you would instantly go to that part. More recently (6 months?) this has changed. Now, clicking in an earlier part of the video forces a reload of the whole video (that is, the grey bar goes back to 0) and you have to hope your loading will be fast enough to make waiting to watch it again even worth it. It is a huge regression in usability for me. Is there any way to watch YouTube videos in the "old way"? I use Firefox 17.0.1 at this point and have an updated (I think) Flash, but I'd be willing to try other browsers or versions if it made a difference.

• Getting 'choice' to work in Highline Ruby Gem without error and getting variable from it

  I'm having a couple of problems using Highline in Ruby, and trying to get the choice element, detailed here, to work. At the moment the following code produces the error "error: wrong number of arguments (0 for 1). Use --trace to view backtrace" How do I get the variable out of choice? At the moment I have the 'do' setup, but I have no idea about how to get the variable the user has chosen out and into a variable for use elsewhere. • Apache 406 error with JPEGCam

  We have recently migrated our website to a new server, and JPEGCam is now reporting a 406 (Not Acceptable) error when trying to upload the image from the SWF to the server. I know that it isn't supported any more by the developer, but I wondered if anyone has encountered this problem before. I suspected the issue was with the Mod_Security module in Apache (i.e. not whitelisting Shockwave Flash), but the server admins have also drawn a blank. The request is being sent as a POST method, and returns a 406 error, but according to the Apache logs, it is returning a 404 error. I wondered if anyone has encountered this problem before, or knows of a 'simple' fix. Everything was working on our Xampp flavour dev server, so I am 100% certain this is an Apache issue. Also, when trying to access the requested page directly in the web browser, everything gets served up without a problem...

• How do I view the parameters of currently running procs in SQL Server 2008

  I am trying to troubleshoot an issue that is popping up on our new SQL Server. While viewing the running processes (sp_who2) I can't tell what parameters a proc was started with. I can find the name of the proc using: DBCC INPUTBUFFER (spid) I can even find some additional info, but I can't see a way to show the parameters. (http://sqlserverpedia.com/blog/sql-server-bloggers/sql-server-%E2%80%93-get-last-running-query-based-on-spid/) I know I can see the parameters if I do a trace, but that doesn't help in this case.

  Hi ive got a log file containing trace routes and pings. Ive seperated these by using if(scanner.nextLine().startsWith("64 bytes"){} so i can work with just the pings for now. All im interested in from the ping is time=XX example data line = 64 bytes from ziva.zarnet.ac.zw (209.88.89.132): icmp_seq=119 ttl=46 time=199 ms I have been reading other peoples similar questions and im not sure how to apply to mine. I literally need just the number as i will be putting them into a csv file so i can make a graph of the data.

To make it all I only have a laptop with Dual-Core 2.10Ghz, 3 GB RAM, 50 GB free space and Windows 7 on it. Also I have external USB 3.0 hard-drive with 250GB free space and flash disk with 8GB space. What can you suggest?   I have computer. I used it for 6 month without having problem. But now i have problem on keyboard and mouse. Every time turn on the computer it work correctly for 2 or 3 minutes. After that it stop responding. First I thought it have problem with OS. Then I installed windows. But now also it happen as before. When it happen I change the port that mouse and keyboard are connected. Then it again work for 2 or 3 minutes and stop working. • Ubuntu 12.04 not showing video after upgrade from 11

  After upgrading to Ubuntu 12.04 VLC or any other media player that plays .mov, .mp4, .wmv etc. is playing with a blank screen but audio is fine. It was working on 11 before the upgrade. Any suggestions for a fix? Flash based video (e.g. youtube) works fine. After some searching I tried installing Ubuntu restricted extras - suspecting a codecs issue, but this has no effect.   Hi, How can I setup Eclipse to stop at the point an exception occurred. I have an Eclipse breakpoint setup to break on an exception. In the code example below, the problem I'm having is Eclipse tries to open the Integer source code. Is there any way to just have debugger break at the point shown in my code example? If I move down the stack trace, I will get to this line, it'd be nice if there's a way to do this without the "Source not found" window coming up.
