• Simulating an UNC path with a leading dot

  Being a C# .NET Windows Forms developer, some customers are running our applications on an Apple OS X Mac inside a Parallels virtual machine. Parallels presents host folders to the guest Windows as UNC paths with a leading dot like \\.psf\Home\Some\More\Folders Now an application of us cannot handle the leading dot correctly when accessing files from these kind of shares ("Invalid URI, cannot analyze host name" exception). I want to debug and fix this issue, unfortunately I do have no Mac and Parallels around here to test it. My question is: Is there a way to "simulate" this kind of share on a normal Windows server or client so that I'll be able to debug my application with Visual Studio? What I tried so far: I already tried to edit my HOSTS file to contain an entry like # ... 127.0.0.1 .psf # ... but Windows just seems to not recognize the share at all.

• Export SSL Cert from IIS and import into GlassFish keystore

  What I need: I have an existing SSL certificate installed on IIS 6. On the same machine, I have GlassFish installed and would like to share the same certificate since they both share the same hostname, and they use different ports: IIS uses 443 and GlassFish uses 8181. Why I need it: Reuse existing SSL certs from IIS to GlassFish. I imagine that this is possible. I am able to install an SSL cert into GlassFish's keystore, and then import the same exact cert into IIS. I just want to go the other way - imagine having an SSL cert on IIS being used for months, and now I want to enable SSL on GlassFish. What I have done: Created a keystore with an alias: server.hostname.com Imported intermediate CA certs associated with the existing SSL Cert Imported the existing SSL cert with the same alias: server.hostname.com, but the keytool won’t allow this, as it is not associated: keytool error: java.lang.Exception: Public keys in reply and keystore don't match Why? Using a different alias causes the cert to not be trusted in the CA chain.

• Is it possible to upgrade Server 2008 to RDP version 6.1?

  Problem Server 2008 has RDP 6.0, Server 2008 R2 has RDP 6.1. My application works with RDP ActiveX control 6.1, but does not work with version 6.0 - generates access violation from mstscax.dll. Is there any way to upgrade Server 2008 (not 2008 R2) with RDP 6.1? More details: my application is written in Delphi, the ActiveX control was generated from mstscax.dll version 6.1.7601.17514. Target system where the application doesn't work, has mstscax.dll version 6.0.6002.18356. When the application tries to connect, it generate an access violation exception in mstscax.dll. The way I see it is a compatibility problem. I appreciate any ideas on how to resolve this.

  I'm attempting to setup vpopmail on my CentOS server (Media Temple). Everything is working like a charm, with the exception that I cannot login to the server from any pop3 client. Upon trying to login I get the following error: Sending of password did not succeed. Mail server mail.(mydomain).com responded: Login failed. I'm running qmail (of course) with xinetd (not tcpserver). I've placed a file called pop3 into the folder /etc/xinetd.d with the content: service pop3 { disable = no socket_type = stream protocol = tcp wait = no user = root server = /var/qmail/bin/qmail-popup server_args = mail.(mydomain).com /home/vpopmail/bin/vchkpw /var/qmail/bin/qmail-pop3d Maildir log_type = FILE /var/log/xinetd.log log_on_success = HOST log_on_failure = HOST RECORD } Can anybody offer any guidance here? I've been unsuccessfully trying to make this happen for over a week.

• Kubuntu Monitor Out of Range

  My X server seems to be faulty, but I don't know why. I had some problems last week with a new motherboard, but they seemed to be resolved. Today, I updated Kubuntu and restarted, but my Viewsonic VX900 LCD monitor shows the splash screen for several seconds, then displays the message "Out of Range" I have tried various kernels in Grub, some in recovery mode, most do the same thing. No key combinations bring up a shell prompt like I expect. The one exception was a very old kernel, that would only mount the file system as read-only, so I can't fix up the xorg.conf file. Is there anything to be done?

• Allow HTTPS cookies but not HTTP?

  I want to allow cookies for a domain but only over HTTPS -- not cookies from the same domain that come from HTTP. For example, I don't want any http://www.google.com cookies, but I do want to allow https://www.google.com cookies (because Calendars are there). Is there a way to do this? Does the goal even make sense? In Chrome, it only allows domain names, not URLs, to be added to the cookie exception list. In Firefox, it allows a protocol, but it only records the domain name, and if you click "Allow" or "Deny", it changes the same entry in the list.

• Monitor Processes' Memory Usage

  We have an IBM P series box running AIX 5.3. This is our application server, whereby our J2EE application is running in Oracle's Applications Server (version 10g r2). At around 11pm till the next day 7am, we have shell scripts running, which executes Java class programs. Recently, this server has been experiencing some high memory usage, which caused some of the Java class programs throwing "Out of memory" exception . We normally use NMON to monitor the server's resources, such as CPU, I/O, memory, etc. But because of this OOM issue, we would like to know throughout the day, what are the processes which are running and how much memory each process consumed. NMON is not able to show this. Even with the "-T" parameter, it only shows the top processes and not all. Is there any thing we can use to monitor all the processes' memory?

  I had problems with web virus cake 3.00 and I downloaded Malwarebytes Anti-WALWARE, I got rid of that virus but I did other problems. When I open my PC appears to skype error "exception in module Skype.exe at 0013CE7D.The EOleSysError RPC server is unavailable" and another one "Error in C: \ WINDOWS \ system32 \ Nvcpl.Dll Missing entry: NnStartup" when I install / uninstall a program says "Windows Installer service Could you not be accessed. This CAN occure if you are running Windows in safe mode, or if the Windows Installer is not corectly installes. Contact your support personnel for assistance.   I am running Nginx 1.5.6 and I use the Simple Machines Forum software. Most rewrite rules seem to work properly, with the exception of the RSS feeds. In my Nginx configuration, I have the following line which is supposed to handle URLs which contain ".xml": rewrite ^/forum/(\.xml|xmlhttp)/?$ "/forum/index.php?pretty;action=$1" last; The above rule produces the following URL for the main forum, which returns a 403 Error: http://www.mydomain.com/forum/.xml/?type=rss I would like the rewrite rule to produce this type of URL, which returns code 200 (a real page): http://www.mydomain.com/forum/?type=rss;action=.xml Here is the entire block pertaining to the forum rewrites: http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=tZkAibW3 I would really appreciate some help to create a rewrite rule to do that. • Applying flattened css to xhtml

  Hi, I try to apply flattened css to xhtml (which get from websites). I am using css4j-0.12.1.jar (from http://www.informatica.info/projects/css/) to process the url html content. For a few urls the code seems to be hang. Even no exception is thrown. For a particular stylableelement or style code doesnot return any value and hangs. For a few websites code hang in, CSSStyleDeclaration.getPropertyValue(style); and for a few websites code hang in, CSSStylableElement.getComputedStyle(); I am using the latest jar. Could you please update me, is there any known issue or fix for this. I am not sure where to post this issue. If anyone knows please update me. Thanks in Advance.

• Twitter 2 for Android crash every time I try uploading multi photos [closed]

  Hello, I'm using the new Twitter 2 on Android 2.1. Whenever I hit the button which enables me to upload multiple photos in a single tweet, I always get the error "The application Camera (process com.sonyericsson.camera) has stopped unexpectidly. Please try again". However, uploading a single photo using the camera button in Twitter have no problem, it works. My phone is Sony Ericsson x10 mini pro. I tried signing out and back in, same result. Anything I can do to fix this? • How can I transfer a blog hosted on Community Server to WordPress?

  I have a blog hosted on Community Server 2.1 (old version). I want to transfer it to WordPress (.com). I have tried exporting it to the BlogML format, but it failed with an exception. I saved a copy of the full RSS feed, by setting the # of posts to show to a huge number, save, then lower it back. I have all images and do not mind having to upload and rename them one by one. There must be a way to read that RSS file and either directly import it into WordPress, or for a more complicated path, transform it with the proper XSLT into the BlogML (or other) format, to import it into WordPress?

• pure-ftpd: one readonly/non-deletable file in home directory

  Is there a way to have a file in the user's FTP home directory without the ability to modify/remove it from that directory over FTP? So the user has write permissions on his own home folder, thus the ability to remove files. An exception should be made for a single file, which has the same filename and contents for each account. The solution I'm thinking of right now to run a periodic script to check the presence of that file, and if not, put it back. But I wonder whether there's a better solution than this.

• MySQL proxy HA with no need to reconnect after node failure

  I use MySQL with Galera wsrep to get synchronous replication, that part it's up and running I need to setup a kind of proxy to handle client connections. Since any node in cluster can fail, clients will not connect nodes directly, but only via proxy. Currently I use Galera Load Balancer which does it work, but with one exception: if one node fails, all clients connected via proxy to that node get connection error and need to reconnect. I have no control over server applications connected to proxy and some of them can't reconnect automatically and need manual restart. So the question is how to force proxy automatically redirect already connected applications to new data node, without need to reconnect?

We install the .NET Framerwork to the local PCs and also set the full trust via the following: %windir%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\caspol -pp off -cg LocalIntranet_Zone FullTrust This has worked fine on all PCs to date however now we have a few new PCs with Win7 and the process no longer is working. The app will run fine from a local drive in Win7 but running the networked copy results in a general exception error. Any ideas on how to get this to work under Win7?

  i am trying to use the powershell start-bitstransfer cmdlets to transfer a file i have exposed using a vss snapshot (via diskshadow), but unfortunately i am receiving the following error: Start-BitsTransfer : The media is write protected. • Troubleshooting a crash with Windows 7

  I have a folder with several thousand videos (All .MPG extensions). When I open the folder with these videos, it shows up fine, but as I start scrolling down, it crashes the Windows Explorer. In the Event Viewer, I see this: Faulting application name: Explorer.EXE, version: 6.1.7600.16450, time stamp: 0x4aebab8d Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 6.1.7600.16559, time stamp: 0x4ba9b802 Exception code: 0xc0000374 Fault offset: 0x00000000000c6df2 Faulting process id: 0x954 Faulting application start time: 0x01cbb1b71edf3b51 Faulting application path: C:\Windows\Explorer.EXE Faulting module path: C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll Report Id: ee987372-1dc4-11e0-8e06-406186ea9135 I suspect that one of the videos has bad metadata. I removed the Length column and it was still crashing. I then removed the Date column and the problem disappeared. How do I go about troubleshooting this problem or at least identifying the file that's causing the issue.

• Does Win 7 still requires copying all files over before burning to a DVD-R or BD-R?

  It seems that Win 7 still needs to copy all files over to a folder, before it burns all files to the DVD-R or BD-R? I think since XP or Vista, Windows always copy everything over to a temporary folder before it will burn to an empty DVD-R. So if you just want to burn a 4GB file to an empty DVD-R, it will first make a copy of that file, and then burn it, instead of just burning it without making a copy first. And now on Win 7, it seems like it is the case also? Most other 3rd party burning tools won't make an extra copy of the files first... Win 7 is the exception. Is there a way around it? (to avoid copying over 25GB or 50GB of data before burning)

• EC2 Apache Server not reflecting changes to PHP files

  We're running a Laravel application on an Amazon EC2 server with Apache installed. I've noticed on multiple occasions, that the server doesn't respond to changes in PHP files, even after restarting Apache. For example, if I edit a file that I'm accessing through a URL, and I break the syntax, I don't even get a PHP exception thrown. This is really strange, and has been sticking its head out more frequently these days. Is it possible Apache is caching the PHP files somewhere? Opcode caching perhaps?
