• PHP: producing relative date/time from timestamps

  Hi, I'm basically trying to convert a Unix timestamp (the time() function) to a relative date/time that's both compatible with past and future date. So outputs could be: 2 weeks ago 1 hour and 60 minutes ago 15 minutes and 54 seconds ago after 10 minutes and 15 seconds First I tried to code this, but made a huge unmaintainable function, and then I searched the internet for a couple of hours, yet all I can find are scripts that produce only one part of the time (e.h: "1 hour ago" without the minutes). Do you have a script that already does this? If so, I'd really appreciate if you could share it. Thanks.

• has_many conditions or proc on foreign key

  I have a has_many association between two models using a date as both the foreign and primary key for each model. It works perfectly one way but not the other. Works has_one :quiz_log, :primary_key => :start_at, :foreign_key => :start_at Doesn't work has_many :event_logs, :primary_key => :start_at, :foreign_key => :start_at The reason being (i think) because the start_at on QuizLog is a date and the start_at on EventLog is a datetime. So it returns nil trying to match the exact datetime on a simple date. How can I cast the foreign_key start_at on the second statement to convert it first from datetime to simply date so it will match the second model?

• Import Data from Excel Spreadsheet or CVS into MySQL

  I have a spreadsheet which really has only one complicated table. I basically convert the spreadsheet to a cvs and use a groovy script to generate the INSERT scripts. However, I cannot do this with a table that has 28 fields with data within some of the fields on the spreadsheet that make importing into the CVS even more complicated. So the fields in the new CVS are not differentiated properly or my script has not accounted for it. Does anyone have any suggestions on a better approach to do this? Thanks.

My Problem is I am not able to DELETE this Objects when I found theme.   In C#, what's the best way to get the 1st digit in an int? The method I came up with is to turn the int into a string, find the 1st char of the string, then turn it back to an int. int start = Convert.ToInt32(curr.ToString().Substring(0, 1)); While this does the job, it feels like there is probably a good, simple, math-based solution to such a problem. String manipulation feels clunky. Edit: irrespective of speed differences, mystring[0] instead of Substring() is still just string manipulation

  So need to check if a string's characters are ascending alphabetically and if that ascent is evenly spaced. a = "abc" b = "ceg" So a is alphabetically ascending and it's spacing is 1 (if you convert to the ordinal values they are 97,98,99). And b is also alphabetically ascending and it's spacing is 2 (99,101,103). • MS SQL Server Dates Excel

  I have data this is linked from SQL Server into an excel document. The column format on the SQL Server is datetime2. When I get the data via an ODBC connection it comes across as a string? I tried using CAST(column AS DATE ) but that didn't work. I tried reformatting via CONVERT(VARCHAR(10), column, 103) as well but that didn't work. I tried retrieving the data via Microsoft query as well but that didn't work. At the moment I am using VBA code like: While (ActiveCell.Value <> "") ActiveCell.Value = DATEVALUE(ActiveCell.Value) ActiveCell.Offset(1,0).Activate Wend and looping through each column that needs this treatment but 100000 rows in multiple columns takes forever to loop through. Are there any alternatives?

In my Month class I have a private member which is an instance of SpecialisedRedBlackTree: SpecialisedRedBlackTree<Day> m_windSpeedTree; As you can see it will take the Day class/object (please correct me on any terms I get wrong). • What is the accepted way to replace java.util.Date(year,month,day)

  I'm trying to do something really simple, but starting to realize that dates in Java are a bit of minefield. All I want is to get passed groups of three ints ( a year, a month and a date) create some Date objects, do some simple test on them (along the lines of as date A before date B and after January 1 1990), convert them to java.sql.Date objects and pass them off to the database via JDBC. All very simple and works fine using the java.util.Date(int year,int month,int day) constructor. Of course that constructor is depreciated, and I'd like to avoid using depreciated calls in new code I'm writing. However all the other options to solve this simple problem seem stupidly complicated. Is there really no simple way to do what I want without using depreciated constructors? I know the standard answer to all Java date related questions is "use joda time", but I really don't want to start pulling in third party libraries for such a seemingly trivial problem.

It put this out: simple.cpp:32: error: cannot convert ‘_IO_FILE*’ to ‘const char*’ for argument ‘1’ to ‘int printf(const char*, ...)’ What would I use to define the application ID to use in printf? I tried: static const char _APPID_[] = "Hello World"` but it didn't work, same error I think.

  I have a 3D data set representing a grid of photosensors which unfortunately were not steady during use. I have estimated the pdf for the motion of the detector and I want to find the expectation value for each sensor. As I don't want to reflect my pdf (i.e. I want f(t) not f(t-tau)) I don't think I can use the matlab convolve function. Is there a function that will do what I want. I guess f I've found movavg but it seems to do something else. Also, as I'm faily new to matlab, from C, I tend to use for loops which I'm aware is not the way to use Matlab. Is there an easy way to convert my 1-D pdf to a 3D matrix that will only operate in one axis (z in this case). Something like repmat(i, j, pdf)
