  Hi there, When creating a table in SQLite3, I get confused when confronted with all the possible datatypes which imply similar contents, so could anyone tell me the difference between the following data-types? INT, INTEGER, SMALLINT, TINYINT DEC, DECIMAL LONGCHAR, LONGVARCHAR DATETIME, SMALLDATETIME Is there some documentation somewhere which lists the min./max. capacities of the various data-types? For example, I guess smallint holds a larger maximum value than tinyint, but a smaller value than integer, but I have no idea of what these capacities are. Any help would be appreciated. • Remote debugging in Windows Embedded

  Hi, I'm moving from Windows CE 6 to Windows Embedded Standard 7 for a project and am wondering how remote debugging of .Net apps works with Windows Embedded target devices. In CE with VS2008 and ActiveSync (USB), I can hit F5 and my app is automatically deployed to the target device and executed so I can step through my breakpoints just like I would if I were debugging locally. Is there an equivalent remote debugging solution for Windows Embedded debugging? A quick glance through the Visual Studio "Remote Debugger" documentation makes the whole thing seem a lot clunkier/less integrated. Is there an easy way to debug applications on target devices running Windows Embedded like I would with CE? Thanks, Ben

  I'm looking for a template engine. Requirements: Runs on a JVM. Java is good; Jython, JRuby and the like, too... Can be used outside of servlets (unlike JSP) Is flexible wrt. to where the templates are stored (JSP and a lot of people require the templates to be stored in the FS). It should provide a template loading interface which one can implement or something like that Easy inclusion of parameterized templates- I really like JSP's tag fragments Good docs, nice code, etc., the usual suspects I've looked at JSP- it's nearly perfect except for the servlet and filesystem coupling, Stringtemplate- I love the template syntax, but it fails on the filesystem coupling, the documentation is lacking and template groups and stuff are confusing, GXP, TAL, etc. Ideas, thoughts?   I'm having some trouble with switching to the new JS API for a number of things with creating applications within FB, specifically the "Tab". <!-- function do_perm() { Facebook.showPermissionDialog('publish_stream,email,offline_access', null); } //--> This no longer works for me when called via an onclick command. Also, with the new API and an FBML app. How does this exactly work? The documentation is really poor so I am confused when looking at the old wiki, and the new developer site. Apologies for being pretty vague, but I'm just generally confused with the lack of clear direction with the new API and help would be greatly appreciated. I'm simply just trying to create a call that prompts for the new style user permission dialog, and oncomplete calls another JS function.

• VBA: Read file from clipboard

  I'm trying to load a file in a VBA macro that has been copied from, say, an Explorer window. I can easily get the data from the clipboard using DataObject::GetFromClipboard, but the VBA interface to DataObject doesn't seem to have methods for working with any other formats than plain text. There are only GetText and SetText methods. If I can't get a file stream directly from the DataObject, the filename(s) would also do, so maybe GetText could be forced to return the name of a file placed on the clipboard? There is very little documentation to be found for VBA anywhere. :( Maybe someone could point me to an API wrapper class for VBA that has this sort of functionality?

  I used to be able to see and manage my iPod with different softwares: Amarok, Rhythmbox, GTKPod. The device is a nano 1st generation 4gb. • Parsing Wiki XML Dumps ver0.4 just got tough

  Hello, I am trying to parse Wikipedia XML Dump using "Parse-MediaWikiDump-1.0.4" along with "Wikiprep.pl" script. I guess this script works fine with ver0.3 Wiki XML Dumps but not with the latest ver0.4 Dumps. I get the following error. Can't locate object method "page" via package "Parse::MediaWikiDump::Pages" at wikiprep.pl line 390. Also, under the "Parse-MediaWikiDump-1.0.4" documentation @ http://search.cpan.org/~triddle/Parse-MediaWikiDump-1.0.4/lib/Parse/MediaWikiDump/Pages.pm, I read "LIMITATIONS Version 0.4 This class was updated to support version 0.4 dump files from a MediaWiki instance but it does not currently support any of the new information available in those files." Any work arounds would help me get to the next level. Note: one may wonder why cannot we directly use SAX or STAX parser instead, wikipedia dump is a 25GB plus single file, stack/memory issues are obvious. Hence, the above perl script resolves this issue but currently I am stuck with this version problem.

• How to show a progress report to the user in Google Apps Script?

  I have a simple script that will send out a bunch of emails but these take time to send and I want to show the user a scrolling window with the emails addresses as they are sent (or, a progress bar would be good too). I believe this is possible with the new User Interface Classes, but I can't get it to work. The documentation is kinda sparse. Specifically, the problem is that the GUI window that pops up appears blank until all the emails have been sent (the script ends) and then the text appears. This happens even if I call show(myapp) after every time I update the Label.

• How to use numpy with OpenBLAS instead of Atlas in Ubuntu?

  I have looked for an easy way to install/compile Numpy with OpenBLAS but didn't find an easy answer. All the documentation I have seen takes too much knowledge as granted for someone like me who is not used to compile software. There are two packages in Ubuntu related to OpenBLAS : libopenblas-base and libopenblas-dev. Once they are installed, what should I do to install Numpy again with them? Thanks! Note that when these OpenBLAS packages are installed, Numpy doesn't work anymore: it can't be imported: ImportError: /usr/lib/liblapack.so.3gf: undefined symbol: ATL_chemv. This was noticed here already. Answer to the question: Run sudo update-alternatives --all and set liblapack.so.3gf to /usr/lib/lapack/liblapack.so.3gf

• Using memcache to store obj's in google app engine.

  Hi, I'm trying to use memcache to cache data retrevied from the datastore. Storing stings works fine. But can't one store an object? I get an error "TypeError: 'str' object is not callable" when trying to store with this: pageData = PageType(page) memcache.add(memcacheid, pageData, 60) I've read in the documentation that it requires "The value type can be any value supported by the Python pickle module for serializing values." But don't really understand what that is. Or how to convert pageData to it. Any ideas? ..fredrik

  I am planning to integrate a Google Checkout payment system on a social networking website. The idea is that members can buy "tokens" for real money (which are sort of the website currency) and then they can buy access to some extra content on the website etc. What I want to do is create a Google Checkout button that takes a member to the checkout page where he pays with his credit or debit card. What I want is the Google Checkout to notify notify my server whether the purchase of tokens was successful (if the credit/debit card was charged) so I can update the local database. The website is coded in PHP/MySQL. I have downloaded the sample PHP code from here: code.google.com/p/google-checkout-php-sample-code/wiki/Documentation I know how to create a Google checkout button and I have also placed the responsehandlerdemo.php file on my server. This is the file the Google Checkout is supposed to send response to (of course I set the path to the file in Google merchant account).   I've been searching the net for ~3 hours but I couldn't find a solution yet. I want to give a precomputed kernel to libsvm and classify a dataset, but: How can I generate a precomputed kernel? (for example, what is the basic precomputed kernel for Iris data?) In the libsvm documentation, it is stated that: For precomputed kernels, the first element of each instance must be the ID. For example, samples = [[1, 0, 0, 0, 0], [2, 0, 1, 0, 1], [3, 0, 0, 1, 1], [4, 0, 1, 1, 2]] problem = svm_problem(labels, samples) param = svm_parameter(kernel_type=PRECOMPUTED) What is a ID? There's no further details on that. Can I assign ID's sequentially? Any libsvm help and an example of precomputed kernels really appreciated.

• Using Timthumb to Resize Images from CKEditor

  I am using CKEditor to do basic text and image input into my website. I have noticed that it is quite sporadic in it's method of generating HTML for images when you add them. (Sometimes it might use height and width tags, other times it might use CSS). I use Timthumb for on the fly image resizing on a number of other websites and find it very useful. I use a mod_rewrite rule in my .htaccess file to allow me to create domains like http://localhost/images/800x600/image.jpg and achieve resizing. I would like to somehow incorporate this into CKEditor. I cannot find how to do this looking through the documentation so I have tried post-processing the data produced by CKEditor using Regex, however as mentioned before CKEditor seems to be too sporadic to be able to get this to work all the time. Anyone else done this before? How did you achieve it?

At the moment I have a form with a number of text boxs which would lend themselves well to an autocomplete ability. I'm developing an application with Hibernate 3.5 and Spring 3.0 Pros: Good documentation Easy configuration and helpful logs Popularity - wide community Some extensions to JPA Some additional Tools - JBoss Tools for Eclipse, hbm2ddl, generating static metamodel etc... Cons: Bugs! (Sequences, collections etc...) Lots of reatures are doubled with "pure" Hibernate. There's a mess in legacy Hibernate and JPA annotations. I'm considering to switch to EclipseLink. What do You think ? Edit: I've tried EclipseLink and have very bad experiences. It seems like EclipseLink needs LoadTimeWeaver and likes to run on OSGi platform rather than simple Jetty or Tomcat environment. I just don't have time for all this configuration stuff.

  In my Pylons app, some content is located at URLs that look like http://mysite/data/31415. Users can go to that URL directly, or search for "31415" via the search page. My constraints, however, mean that http://mysite/data/000031415 should go to the same page as the above, as should searches for "0000000000031415." Can I strip leading zeroes from that string in Routes itself, or do I need to do that substitution in the controller file? If it's possible to do it in routing.py, I'd rather do it there - but I can't quite figure it out from the documentation that I'm reading.

  I'm attempting to get Rails to play nice with the Digg API's OAuth. I'm using the oauth gem (ruby one, not the rails one). However, Digg spits a "400 Bad Request" error back at me when @consumer.get_request_token is called. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Any ideas?

• Spring Security - is Role and ACL security overkill?

  I have a 3 tier application that requires security authorizations be placed on various domain objects. Whether I use Spring's ACL implementation or roll my own, it seems to me that ACL based security can only be used to authorize (service) methods and cannot be used to authorize URL or web service invocations. I think this because how could a web service call check the ACL before it has hydrated the XML payload? Also, all the examples for web access security in the Spring documentation are securing URL's based on Role. Is it typical to use Spring's roles to secure web presentation and web service calls, while at the same time using ACL's to secure the business methods? Is this overkill?

• Is NetNamedPipeBinding binding guaranteed to work only on the same machine?

  Hi, I've created a Windows Service that uses WCF for communications to it. The service should be used be called only from the same machine. If I can guarantee that there's no way to communicate with it from another machine, I can consider it secured. Since I'm using communications on a single machine, I opted to used NetNamedPipeBinding. This bindings documentation says it's Optimized for on-machine communications, but does not give any guarantees. My questions is, does NetNamedPipeBinding provide on-machine-only guarantees? If not what binding does, or how would you go implementing a custom bindings that does provide such guarantees? Thanks, Asaf

  What is the best open source library for performing boolean operations (union, intersect, subtract) on shapefiles? What do you like to use? OGR looks like it probably has this capability, though I'm having trouble finding the particular commands in their documentation. Shapely definitely does this, and is easy to understand. PostGIS appears to also have some commands for this. But there must be more, and I'm having trouble finding them. I don't have much experience with any of the, and would appreciate any opinions on these or other libraries. Thanks!

  I'm trying to figure out how to integrate django-registration with django-paypal. Being a Django n00b, I'm trying to figure out how to implement a flow like this: User signs up using django-registation with 'active' flag set to 0 After registering, send user to PayPal for a subscription When they come back from PayPal successfully, I want to set 'active' to 1 I've been looking at the django-registration documentation and don't quite understand how to use different backends or implement a flow the way I want. Any tips on how to accomplish this would be greatly appreciated. django-paypal won't be a problem for me as I've done PayPal integration before (in PHP for a self-published book about CakePHP).
