• Suggestions on search in android?

  i can implement the QSB on my app using onSearchRequested() method.i have 4 column in my table. when i was type in the QSB. it will give some suggestions on the Suggestion window. how to do that? searchable dictionary example shows the dictionary provider class to retrive the suggestions. but on that no data inserted. then how they getting the suggestions. can you explain me what are the steps we have to follow or tutorials, sample codes are most thankful.

  I'm attempting to call LinkedIn's API and store Network Updates. Each update has a Unix timestamp that I'm retrieving as a string variable from the REST XML response. I want to convert the string timestamp to a mysql datetime format. The date() function accepts an integer as the second argument for time to be converted. However, I'm on Windows 32 bit PHP and the integer type for this platform is limited to 2147483647. $timestamp = '1293714626675'; // sample pulled from linkedin $timestamp = (int) $timestamp; // timestamp now equals 2147483647 $mysqlDatetime = date('Y-m-d H:i:s', $timestamp); // produces incorrect time Is there a better method of creating the mysql datetime in PHP? I realize that I can convert it upon insert into MySQL however, that would require changing other dependent code.

• Can I get.seed() somehow?

  In reference to the statement set.seed(), can I get the seed instead after running some code if I didn't set it explicitly? I've been re-running some code containing a function that randomises some sample of the input data (the function is part of the kohonen package). After playing with it for some time to see the variety of output (it was an 'unstable' problem), I noticed one result that was pretty interesting. I of course had not used set.seed(), but wondered if I could get the seed after running the code to reproduce the result? In ?set.seed I see .Random.seed saves the seed set for the uniform random-number generator But I don't know how that helps.

• Documents/Images display fine in Simulator, but not on my device

  Hello. My application is running fine on the simulator, but not on the device. Basically, any documents from the web (PDF, Word, M4P videos) are working great on the simulator (and can be accessed from Safari on the iPhone). However, running on the iPhone, they don't display anything.   I'm developing a Java application that has performance at its core. I have a list of some 40,000 "final" objects, i.e., I have an initialization input data of 40,000 vectors. This data is unchanged throughout the program's run. I am always preforming lookups against a single ID property to retrieve the proper vectors. Currently I am using a HashMap over a sub-sample of a 1,000 vectors, but I'm not sure it will scale to production. When is BIG, actually big enough for a use of DB? One more thing, an SQLite DB is a viable option as no concurrency is involved, so I guess the "threshold" for db use, is perhaps lower.

  Trying to learn Scala using the Programming in Scala book and they have a very basic example for reading lines from a file. I'm trying to expand on it and read a file line by line, look for a certain phrase, then print the next 6 lines following that line if it finds the line. I can write the script easily enough in something like java or Perl but I have no idea how to do it in Scala (probably because I'm not very familiar with the language yet...) • how to render custom columns with a GenericTreeModel

  I have to display some data in a treeview. The "real" data model is huge and I cannot copy all the stuff in a TreeStore, so I guess I should use a GenericTreeModel to act like a virtual treeview. Btw the first column is the classic icon+text style and I think I should declare a column with a CellRendererPixbuf (faq sample), but I'm not sure what the model methods on_get_n_columns() and on_get_value() should return. It's both a Pixbuf and a string value for the same column. Any help will be appreciated.

  Hello! I'm trying to come up with a lightning fast solution to find portions in a string. Here is a Sample string: "PostLoad successful! You transferred amount of 17.00 Rs to 03334224222. Now use PostLoad by dialing 123. PostLoad on SMS will end on 01-03-2011." Objective: Need to retrieve the bold values: Amount and Cell Number. The string contents change slightly but the cell number will always be a 11 digit. The amount is always with two decimal precision. Any suggestions using C# and RegEx?

  I've been racking my brain about how to do this in one query without PHP code. In a nutshell, I have a table that records email activity. For the sake of this example, here is the data: recipient_id activity date 1 delivered 2011-08-30 1 open 2011-08-31 2 delivered 2011-08-30 3 delivered 2011-08-24 3 open 2011-08-30 3 open 2011-08-31 The goal: I want to display to users a single number that tells how many recipients open their email within 24 hours. E.G. "Users that open their email within 24 hours: 13 Readers" In the case of the sample data, above, the value would be "1". (Recipient one was delivered an email and opened it the next day. Recipient 2 never opened it and recipient 3 waited 5 days.) Can anyone think of a way to express the goal in a single query? Reminder: In order to count, the person must have a 'delivered' tag and at least one 'open' tag. Each 'open' tag only counts once per recipient.

  In window, i can get the date created of the video from properties(right click). I have a few idea on this but i dont know how to do it. 1. Get the video information directly from video(like in windows), 2. By extracting the video name to get the date created(The video's name is in date format, which is the time it created). And i also using taglib-sharp to get the video duration and resolution, but i cant find any sample code on how to get the video creation date. • Need guidance for my first Android application: how many activities should I use?

  Hi, I'm starting Android doing an application for searching restaurants, and some guidance would be welcome! On the first screen I'd like to have a search field with a submit button (I get the data from a web service), and below a list with the results of the search. When clicking on one of the items of the list it will show a screen with the restaurant details as well as a map showing its location. My questions are: Can I do everything in one single activity or should I do an activity for the search, one for the result list, one for the restaurant description, and another for the map? Would doing one single activity make the application more responsive? How can I use a list and a map within a normal activity (without ListActivity and MapActivity)?
