    A while ago I read a news here, that Microsoft changed its strategy for silverlight and will replace it with HTML5. As it is a controversial discussion, some guys from Microsoft and other corporation wrote about it and some agreed and some don't? As it is important to be aware of near future of tools that you are using, what do you think, Will Microsoft replace Silverlight with HTML5 or not? I myself believe that it will happen in 2012, the time that HTML5 released completely, and Microsoft are releasing VS2012.

  • Suggestions for open source testing tool for cloud computing

    Hi, I want to know if there is any open source testing tool for cloud computing. We have built a cloud framework with Xen, Eucalyptus, Hadoop, HBase as different layers. I am not looking at testing each of these tools separately, but i want to test them from the perspective of fitting into a cloud environment (for example scalability of xen hypervisor to handle multiple VMs). Would be great if you can suggest me some tool (open source) for the above.

    Hi there, I've inherited a set of Silverlight 2 applications (new job), one of which needs upgrading. We can do the updates in code without problems, but the available dev machines all appear to be running Silverlight 3. I can't seem to find Silverlight 2 tools for download any more - is there a way to multi-target Silverlight the same way we can multi-target older versions of the main CLR? thanks Toby

  • How do you remind your Scrum Product Owner about his promises/actions?

    ** EDIT: Rephrased the question to re-focus ** Our Scrum team meets as seldomly as possible, but we meet with the product owner every chance we get. We track everyone's agreed action points (particularly theirs). We are 100% agile, but our product owner lives in traditional world, we remain off-site. We facilitate him in crossing over to our fast-paced world. There's not much wrong. The team and the PO are in good spirits. PO is present at every meeting and positively energized. Just imagine this person as a 70 year old, slow grandpa, who is forgetful, yet kind. In reality he isn't, but he is used to a working environment (public servants) that is much slooooower. Manyana-manyana etc. It is frustrating for my team to cooperate: PO lives in a non-prioritized environment, and everyone in it has learned the productivity-technique of NGTD (Not Getting Things Done). He WANTS to, it's just that he forgets or 'sinks' somewhere along the away. We have experimented with a text file, maintained by the Scrum master (low-tech), which he broadcasts by e-mail every day JIRA, our issue tracker. Turns out this is nice for programmers, but too steep for 'regular people' I Googled for Issue tracking webtools but came up empty handed: All tools are aimed at IT issue tracking, instead of meeting action point tracking/planning for mere mortals. I did find TODO-lists like RememberTheMilk, but they don't track comments, and - to be honest - I doubt we could get our product owner to use it (too complicated). We have three requirements: Register action points, assign to a team member and a deadline Offer anyone to 'comment' on progress of any action point Do not build our own tool from scratch We do not need: - impressive authorization models, - multi-project, - workflow, - crosslinking. Is there any trick/tool you use to assist your product owner 'fly' like the rest of the rest of the team? Communication before tools I agree with the general consensus that one should not try to apply technology to a communication problem, however in this case I am merely looking for a tool to save me time in setting up prioritized lists. I found www.thymer.com today, may be what I am looking for. The guys are cool. It is getting rather feature-bloated though.

    Hi, what tools do you use to create programming flowchart/documentation from VB.NET source code? There are absolutely no comments/documentation at present. I am a beginner, i.e. I tried Sandcastle but it is way over my head and could not get it going, not even with GUI. Fatesoft's CodeVisual To Flowchart is OK but it is almost the same as the code and I still don't understand the code.

    I've been very upset these past years with all the UML tools (especially the clunky mammoth Rational Rose from IBM which I really hated each time a client asked to use it). I think UML did suffer from bad integration. I rarely used UML myself because of lack of productivity. So I had a positive surprise with Visual Studio 2010 especially the sequence diagram reversing tool which really helps understand code. For people who had tried VS 2010 Ultimate do you think the same ?

  • Find and replace table/field names in Access?

    I've been handed a rather large, old, and crusty Access 2000/2003 database to clean up. I'll need to rename a number of tables and fields, but need to do so in a way that doesn't break existing queries. (Fortunately, there are no macros, forms, or reports to worry about.) I've heard there are some commercial tools to make this job easier, but only found one (http://www.rickworld.com/products.html). Can anyone recommend this software, or any alternatives?

    I am writing an app using PhoneGap for Android in Eclipse. Since the project is an Android project, it's in a Java perspective. For whatever reason, Eclipse won't highlight HTML and JavaScript for me while in an Android/Java project/perspective and switching to the JavaScript perspective doesn't highlight the code either. Without highlighting or debugging tools, the debug process is very slow. How do I tell Eclipse to highlight HTML and JavaScript for me while working in a Java Environment?

  • Debugging a basic OpenGL texture fail? (iphone)

    Hey all, I have a very basic texture map problem in GL on iPhone, and I'm wondering what strategies there are for debugging this kind of thing. (Frankly, just staring at state machine calls and wondering if any of them is wrong or misordered is no way to live-- are there tools for this?) I have a 512x512 PNG file that I'm loading up from disk (not specially packed), creating a CGBitmapContext, then calling CGContextDrawImage to get bytes out of it. (This code is essentially stolen from an Apple sample.) I see no debug output from the CG calls to set up the texture. glGetError reports nothing. If I simplify this code block to just draw the verts, but set up a pure color, the quad area lights up exactly as expected. If I clear the whole context immediately beforehand to red, I don't see the red-- which means something is being rendered there, but not the contents of my PNG. What could I be doing wrong? And more importantly, what are the right tools and techniques for debugging this sort of thing, because running into this kind of problem and not being able to "step through it" in a debugger in any meaningful way is a bummer.     Hi, Searched through net, could't find a way to read/write file metadata using C or C++, however, there are tools available for this, and also there are API's in C# and Java to do this. But I want to do it from scratch in C or C++. For example, read/write image metadata. Have found out that there are three formats in which metadata is written to files. EXIF, IPTC and XMP. Thanks.
