  • C# windows forms not updating in method

    Hi! Im trying to call some windows forms code (like setting label.visible = true in some event code, everything compiles ok, but form does not react to change! What could be the problem?     I have a big problem. When I lauch my MapActivity this launch the ilegal argument. I think that i check all 1) add map.jar from api 3 to eclipse 2) I obtain a api key 3) In androidmanifest I have putted the uses-library and te internet permision 4) I launch the google api emulator for api 3. 5) I dont know that i can try. Please, any idea? this can't be too dificult, I can't belive. Sure that it is a stupid thing :S

  • naming a method - using set() when *not* setting a property?

    Is setX() method name appropriate for only for setting class property X? For instance, I have a class where the output is a string of an html table. Before you can you can call getTable, you have to call setTable(), which just looks at a other properties and decides how to construct the table. It doesn't actually directly set any class property -- only causes the property to be set. When it's called, the class will construct strHtmlTable, but you can't specify it. So, calling it setTable breaks the convention of get and set being interfaces for class properties. Is there another naming convention for this kind of method? Edit: in this particular class, there are at least two ( and in total 8 optional ) other methods that must be called before the class knows everything it needs to to construct the table. I chose to have the data set as separate methods rather than clutter up the __construct() with 8 optional parameters which I'll never remember the order of.

    Can I use ActionView::Helpers::SanitizeHelper#sanitize on user-entered text that I plan on showing to other users? E.g., will it properly handle all cases described on this site? Also, the documentation mentions: Please note that sanitizing user-provided text does not guarantee that the resulting markup is valid (conforming to a document type) or even well-formed. The output may still contain e.g. unescaped ’<’, ’’, ’&’ characters and confuse browsers. What's the best way to handle this? Pass the sanitized text through Hpricot before displaying?

  • Need new method for linking to native mapping from mobile web app

    My mobile web apps use a map button which automatically starts the mapping features of Android and iPhone by simply linking to http://maps.google.com/maps?q=New+York. iOs 6 comes out, the links stop working, because Apple wants us to use "maps.APPLE.com". Turns out ANYTHING you send to "maps.apple.com" gets forwarded to "maps.google.com". So now I have to specially detect iOs 6 and swap out links just so Apple can forward everything back to Google anyway. Is there a clean way to open the device/native mapping app from a mobile web app that works on Android, iOs 6, and iOs pre-6, since iOs 6 nerfed it?     My code tries to replace "," with "/" in a string. Should I escape "," in the regex string? Both of the two code snippets generated the same results, so I am confused. Code snippet 1: String test = "a,bc,def"; System.out.println(test.replaceAll("\\,", "/")); Code snippet 2: String test = "a,bc,def"; System.out.println(test.replaceAll(",", "/")); Should I use "," or "\,"? Which is safer? Thanks.

    Disclaimers: I am not interested in doing this in any real production code. I make no claim that there's a good reason why I'm interested in doing this. I realize that if this is in any way possible, it must involve doing some highly inadvisable things. That said... is this possible? I'm really just curious to know. In other words, if I have something like this: int i = GetSomeInteger(); Is there any way from within GetSomeInteger that the code could be "aware of" the fact that it's being called in an assignment to the variable i? Again: no interest in doing this in any sort of real scenario. Just curious!

  • Best method to search heriarachal data

    I'm looking at building a facility which allows querying for data with hierarchical filtering. I have a few ideas how I'm going to go about it but was wondering if there are any recommendations or suggestions that might be more efficient. As an example imagine that a user is searching for a job. The job areas would be as follows. 1: Scotland 2: --- West Central 3: ------ Glasgow 4: ------ Etc 5: --- North East 6: ------ Ayrshire 7: ------ Etc A user can search specific (ie Glasgow) or in a larger area (ie Scotland). The two approaches I am considering are 1: keep a note of children in the database for each record (ie cat 1 would have 2, 3, 4 in its children field) and query against that record with a SELECT * FROM Jobs WHERE Category IN Areas.childrenField. 2: Use a recursive function to find all results who have a relation to the selected area The problems I see from both are 1: holding this data in the db will mean having to keep track of all changes to structure 2: Recursion is slow and inefficent Any ideas, suggestion or recommendations on the best approach? I'm using C# ASP.NET with MSSQL 2005 DB.

  • Is it possible to import specific class from project propreties

    I have 2 projects. First project need to include second. When I copy sources from second project to first I need to modify manually import path to R.java file. The problem is that I need to use SVN external link connection between this 2 projects, that is mean, one project (the bigger one) will take sources from another through svn and should be able to use it without any modifications. If I would be able to specify R.java file path anywhere in project properties it will resolve my problem by changing manually that path. Need to specify that package name of these 2 projects are different. Another solution to resolve this problem also would be accepted. Thank you.

    Hello, I want to determine if a string is the name of a month and I want to do it relatively quickly. The function that is currently stuck in my brain is something like: boolean isaMonth( String str ) { String[] months = DateFormatSymbols.getInstance().getMonths(); String[] shortMonths = DateFormatSymbols.getInstance().getShortMonths(); int i; for( i = 0; i<months.length(); ++i;) { if( months[i].equals(str) ) return true; if( shortMonths[i].equals(str ) return true; } return false; } However, I will be processing lots of text, passed one string at a time to this function, and most of the time I will be getting the worst case of going through the entire loop and returning false. I saw another question that talked about a Regex to match a month name and a year which could be adapted for this situation. Would the Regex be faster? Is there any other solution that might be faster?

  • XML to XHTML - Best Method?

    Not wishing to be subjective but I have a need to get data from an XML source and convert it to (X)HTML. From my understanding I can do this with PHP (or other server-side scripts), Javascript, or XSLT. My feeling is that it would be more appropriate to use XSLT as it is dealing with an XML source and this is the purpose for which XSLT exists. I also see it having the advantage that it will still work if the user doesn't have Javascript enabled and wont be restricted to a server which runs PHP (or other server-side script). Am I right in my assumptions? Also could the same be same for an RSS feed? Thanks

    I am trying to set the Text property of a drop down list option like this: <asp:ListItem Value="AB" Text='<%= Resources.Get("USA") %>'></asp:ListItem> But it isn't working, instead the Text value is literally <%= Resources.Get("USA") %> and not the string "USA". i.e. it is not being interpreted as code. What is the problem?
