    Many of us have probably seen the new SQL Server 2012 per core licensing, with Enterprise Edition at $6,874 per core super ceding the $27,495 per socket of SQL Server 2008 R2 (discounted to $19,188 for 4-way and $23,370 for 2-way in TPC benchmark reports) with Software Assurance at $6,874 per processor? Datacenter was $57,498 per processor, so the new per-core licensing puts 2012 EE on par with 2008R2 DC, at 8-cores per socket. I don't expect everybody to understand what an example is, but I hope the majority do. Does anybody have any resources listing terms related to programming and web development, or care to pitch in? Things like: Runtime Build time Framework Library Normalize I'm primarily a PHP developer so anything about that.     I have an array in PHP with URLs like below: http://example.com/apps/1235554/ http://example.com/apps/apple/ http://example.com/apps/126734 http://example.com/images/a.jpg http://example.com/images/b.jpg http://example.com/apps/2331234/ http://example.com/apps/orange/ How can I separate out these urls and push them to another array using Regex: http://example.com/apps/1235554/ http://example.com/apps/126734 http://example.com/apps/2331234/ Only url with apps/{number}/ and apps/{number} should be selected.

  • call my web services from other app with javascript?

    Hi. I got .asmx a web service on my app. I need to call a method from an other app to get statistics from my app. I need it to return XML. the call to the webmethod is done with javascript soap. There is a default hellow world webmethod and calling that work but it seem that when i try to call a method where i need to pass parameters and it need to execute code it wont work and just return my error message. any ideas on what can be wrong. am I using the wrong web method?

    Our product is a web based course managemant system. We have 10+ clients and in future we may get more clients. (Asp.net,SQL Server) Currently if one of our customers need extra functionality or customised business logic, we will change the db schema and code to meet the needs. (we only have one branch code base and one database schema) To make the change wont affect each others route, we use a client flag, which defined in a web config file, thus those extra fields and biz logic only applied to a particular customer's system. if(ClientId = 'ABC') { //DO ABC Stuff } else { //Normal Route } One of our senior colleagues said, in this way, small company like us can save resources on supporting multiple resources. But what I feel is, this strategy makes our code and database even harder to maintain. Anyone there crossed similar situation? How do you handle that?

  • Internet Explorer 9 is coming Monday to a web near you

    Internet Explorer 9 is finally here...well almost.  Microsoft is releasing their new browser on March 14, 2011. IE9 has a number of improvements, including: Faster, Faster, Faster.  Did I mention it is faster?   With the new browsers coming out from Mozilla, Google, and Microsoft, there have been a flood of speed test coverage.  Chrome has long held the javascript speed crown.  But according to Steven J. Vaughan-Nichols over at ZDNET..."for the moment at least IE9 is actually the fastest browser I’ve tested to date."  He came to this revelation after figuring out that the 32-bit version of IE9 has the new Chakra JIT (the 64-bit version doesn't).  It also has a DirectX-based rendering engine so it can do cool tricks once reserved for desktop applications. Windows 7 Desktop Integration.  Read my post for more details.  Unfortantely, they didn't integrate my ideas...at least not yet :) Hot new UI.  Ok, they "borrowed" some ideas from Chrome...but that is the best form of flattery. Standards Compliance.  A real focus on HTML5 and CSS3.  Definite goodness for developers. So, go get yourself some IE9 on Monday and enjoy!

    Say my company is going to build a complicated asp.net web form education system. One of the module is web based registration. To make it flexiable, we decide to use user control(ascx) with rule-engine (work flow) regulating all business logic behide them. Thus in future,for different clients, we can simply config basic existing rules or adding new rules.(Rules stored in db or XML per client). Now the question is how to deal with the user controls (ascx)? My opinion is for different client build diffrent user control from scratch. other voice is like reuse existing user controls.

    Hello all. I'm a complete newbie to using online payment systems for web projects, and can't really think of where to start. Let's assume that web system in question needs to generate some income online, and the business idea/functionality is in place, while organizing cash flow is the only unsolved problem. Points of interest are how the custom developed software interfaces to payment systems, and how the resulting income is available to the owner. I do understand that there are probably hundreds of systems out there, but to be more specific on which of them suit, I'd have to know how they work, and that's where I don't feel like understanding much.     I'm about to develop a web site for a new client. It's not going to be very intense, but one requirement is that, if possible, the client wants to be able to manage the photo gallery themselves. Since they are not technically savvied at all, I was wondering what utilities exist that provide a GUI for users to log in to manage photos. Can anyone make a recontamination? I haven't purchased the web hosting yet, so if your answer requires a specific type of host server don't worry, I am open to options.

However, the other open source product is licensed under MS-PL but I don't understand if that license is fully compatible with commercial software.
