  • trouble configuring WCF to use session

    - by Michael
    I am having trouble in configuring WCF service to run in session mode. As a test I wrote this simple service : [ServiceContract] public interface IService1 { [OperationContract] string AddData(int value); } [ServiceBehavior(InstanceContextMode=InstanceContextMode.PerSession)] internal class Service1 : IService1,IDisposable { private int acc; public Service1() { acc = 0; } public string AddData(int value) { acc += value; return string.Format("Accumulator value: {0}", acc); } #region IDisposable Members public void Dispose() { } #endregion } I am using Net.TCP binding with default configuration with reliable session flag enabled. As far as I understand , such service should run with no problems in session mode. But , the service runs as in per call mode - each time I call AddData , constructor gets called before executing AddData and Dispose() is called after the call. Any ideas why this might be happening?

  • Executing Stored Procedure for each InputRow + SSIS Script Component.

    - by Nev_Rahd
    Hello, In my Script Component, am trying to execute Stored Procedure = which return multiple rows = of which need to generate output rows. Code as below: /* Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services Script Component * Write scripts using Microsoft Visual C# 2008. * ScriptMain is the entry point class of the script.*/ using System; using System.Data; using System.Data.SqlClient; using Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Pipeline.Wrapper; using Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Wrapper; [Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Pipeline.SSISScriptComponentEntryPointAttribute] public class ScriptMain : UserComponent { SqlConnection cnn = new SqlConnection(); IDTSConnectionManager100 cnManager; //string cmd; SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand(); public override void AcquireConnections(object Transaction) { cnManager = base.Connections.myConnection; cnn = (SqlConnection)cnManager.AcquireConnection(null); } public override void PreExecute() { base.PreExecute(); } public override void PostExecute() { base.PostExecute(); } public override void InputRows_ProcessInputRow(InputRowsBuffer Row) { while(Row.NextRow()) { DataTable dt = new DataTable(); cmd.Connection = cnn; cmd.CommandText = "OSPATTRIBUTE_GetOPNforOP"; cmd.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure; cmd.Parameters.Add("@NK", SqlDbType.VarChar).Value = Row.OPNK.ToString(); cmd.Parameters.Add("@EDWSTARTDATE", SqlDbType.DateTime).Value = Row.EDWEFFECTIVESTARTDATETIME; SqlDataAdapter adapter = new SqlDataAdapter(cmd); adapter.Fill(dt); foreach (DataRow dtrow in dt.Rows) { OutputValidBuffer.AddRow(); OutputValidBuffer.OPNK = Row.OPNK; OutputValidBuffer.OSPTYPECODE = Row.OSPTYPECODE; OutputValidBuffer.ORGPROVTYPEDESC = Row.ORGPROVTYPEDESC; OutputValidBuffer.HEALTHSECTORCODE = Row.HEALTHSECTORCODE; OutputValidBuffer.HEALTHSECTORDESCRIPTION = Row.HEALTHSECTORDESCRIPTION; OutputValidBuffer.EDWEFFECTIVESTARTDATETIME = Row.EDWEFFECTIVESTARTDATETIME; OutputValidBuffer.EDWEFFECTIVEENDDATETIME = Row.EDWEFFECTIVEENDDATETIME; OutputValidBuffer.OPQI = Row.OPQI; OutputValidBuffer.OPNNK = dtrow[0].ToString(); OutputValidBuffer.OSPNAMETYPECODE = dtrow[1].ToString(); OutputValidBuffer.NAMETYPEDESC = dtrow[2].ToString(); OutputValidBuffer.OSPNAME = dtrow[3].ToString(); OutputValidBuffer.EDWEFFECTIVESTARTDATETIME1 = Row.EDWEFFECTIVESTARTDATETIME; OutputValidBuffer.EDWEFFECTIVEENDDATETIME1 = Row.EDWEFFECTIVEENDDATETIME; OutputValidBuffer.OPNQI = dtrow[6].ToString(); } } } public override void ReleaseConnections() { cnManager.ReleaseConnection(cnn); } } This is always skipping the first row. while(Row.NextRow()) is always bringing the second row of the input buffer. What am I doing wrong. Thanks

  • Serializing Class Derived from Generic Collection yet Deserializing the Generic Collection

    - by Stacey
    I have a Repository Class with the following method... public T Single<T>(Predicate<T> expression) { using (var list = (Models.Collectable<T>)System.Xml.Serializer.Deserialize(typeof(Models.Collectable<T>), FileName)) { return list.Find(expression); } } Where Collectable is defined.. [Serializable] public class Collectable<T> : List<T>, IDisposable { public Collectable() { } public void Dispose() { } } And an Item that uses it is defined.. [Serializable] [System.Xml.Serialization.XmlRoot("Titles")] public partial class Titles : Collectable<Title> { } The problem is when I call the method, it expects "Collectable" to be the XmlRoot, but the XmlRoot is "Titles" (all of object Title). I have several classes that are collected in .xml files like this, but it seems pointless to rewrite the basic methods for loading each up when the generic accessors do it - but how can I enforce the proper root name for each file without hard coding methods for each one? The [System.Xml.Serialization.XmlRoot] seems to be ignored. When called like this... var titles = Repository.List<Models.Title>(); I get the exception <Titlesxmlns=''> was not expected. The XML is formatted such as. .. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?> <Titles xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"> <Title> <Id>442daf7d-193c-4da8-be0b-417cec9dc1c5</Id> </Title> </Titles> Here is the deserialization code. public static T Deserialize<T>(String xmlString) { System.Xml.Serialization.XmlSerializer XmlFormatSerializer = new System.Xml.Serialization.XmlSerializer(typeof(T)); StreamReader XmlStringReader = new StreamReader(xmlString); //XmlTextReader XmlFormatReader = new XmlTextReader(XmlStringReader); try { return (T)XmlFormatSerializer.Deserialize(XmlStringReader); } catch (Exception e) { throw e; } finally { XmlStringReader.Close(); } }

  • How to insert a DataTable with existing Key to a SQL Server Table.

    - by user296575
    I am working with VB.NET.. i have a DataTable called "QUESTION", containing 3 fields: QuestionNumber (unique integer key) QuestionText QuestionType In my SQL Server database I created a Table called "QUESTION" with the same fields. QuestionNumber is defined as integer unique key, auto increment Now, when i make a bulk copy to insert the DataTable into the SQL Server, the database overwrites my QuestionNumber from the DataTable and generates new ones (starting from 1 increment 1). How do i have to change my database setup, that the original QuestionNumbers are copied into the database?

  • What is the best way to attach static methods to classes rather than to instances of a class?

    - by John Gietzen
    If I have a method for calculating the greatest common divisor of two integers as: public static int GCD(int a, int b) { return b == 0 ? a : GCD(b, a % b); } What would be the best way to attach that to the System.Math class? Here are the three ways I have come up with: public static int GCD(this int a, int b) { return b == 0 ? a : b.GCD(a % b); } // Lame... var gcd = a.GCD(b); and: public static class RationalMath { public static int GCD(int a, int b) { return b == 0 ? a : GCD(b, a % b); } } // Lame... var gcd = RationalMath.GCD(a, b); and: public static int GCD(this Type math, int a, int b) { return b == 0 ? a : typeof(Math).GCD(b, a % b); } // Neat? var gcd = typeof(Math).GCD(a, b); The desired syntax is Math.GCD since that is the standard for all mathematical functions. Any suggestions? What should I do to get the desired syntax?

  • How to Debug an exception: Type is not marked as serializable... when the type is marked as serializ

    - by rism
    I'm trying to: ((Request.Params["crmid"] != null)) in a web page. But it keeps throwing a serialzation exception: Type 'QC.Security.SL.SiteUser' in assembly 'QC.Security, Version=1.0.0.1, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' is not marked as serializable. The type is however marked as serializable as follows: [Serializable()] public class SiteUser : IIdentity { private long _userId; public long UserId { get { return _userId; } set { _userId = value; } } private string _name; public string Name { get { return _name; } } private bool _isAuthenticated; public bool IsAuthenticated { get { return _isAuthenticated; } } private string _authenticationType; public string AuthenticationType { get { return _authenticationType; } } I've no idea how to debug this as I cant step into the serializer code to find out why its falling over. The call stack is only one frame deep before it hits [External Code]. And the error message is next to useless given that type is clearly marked as serializable. It was working fine. But now "all of a sudden" it doesn't which typically means some dumb bug in Visual Studio but rebooting doesn't help "this" time. So now I dont know if it's a stupid VS bug or a completely unrelated error for which Im getting a serialization exception or something I'm doing wrong. The truth is I just dont trust VS anymore given the number of wild goose chases Ive been on over the last several months which were "fixed" by rebooting VS 2008 or some other rediculous workaround.

  • WPF TreeView binding to a simple object

    - by esse
    I have a simple object as such: public class Info { public string Name {get; set;} public int Count {get; set;} public DateTime TimeStamp {get; set;} } I want to bind a collection of these objects to a WPF TreeView and have the properties on the Info objects show up as sub TreeViewItems, like so: Item 1 Name: Bill Count: 3 TimeStamp: 12/05/2010 09:06:00 AM Item 2 Name: Chris Count: 22 TimeStamp: 11/05/2010 11:34:00 AM Item 3 Name: Toby Count: 1 TimeStamp: 09/05/2010 05:55:00 PM How can I achieve this through XAML?

  • Programmatically Add Controls to WPF Form

    - by user210757
    I am trying to add controls to a UserControl dynamically (programatically). I get a generic List of objects from my Business Layer (retrieved from the database), and for each object, I want to add a Label, and a TextBox to the WPF UserControl and set the Position and widths to make look nice, and hopefully take advantage of the WPF Validation capabilities. This is something that would be easy in Windows Forms programming but I'm new to WPF. How do I do this (see comments for questions) Say this is my object: public class Field { public string Name { get; set; } public int Length { get; set; } public bool Required { get; set; } } Then in my WPF UserControl, I'm trying to create a Label and TextBox for each object: public void createControls() { List<Field> fields = businessObj.getFields(); Label label = null; TextBox textbox = null; foreach (Field field in fields) { label = new TextBox(); // HOW TO set text, x and y (margin), width, validation based upon object? // i have tried this without luck: // Binding b = new Binding("Name"); // BindingOperations.SetBinding(label, Label.ContentProperty, b); MyGrid.Children.Add(label); textbox = new TextBox(); // ??? MyGrid.Children.Add(textbox); } // databind? this.DataContext = fields; }

  • How to access a method on a generic datacontext which is only created at runtime

    - by Jeremy Holt
    I'm creating my generic DataContext using only the connectionString in the ctor. I have no issues in retrieving the table using DataContext.GetTable(). However, I need to also be able to retrieve entities of inline table functions. The dbml designer generates public IQueryable<testFunctionResult> testFunction() { return this.CreateMethodCallQuery<testFunctionResult>(this, ((MethodInfo)(MethodInfo.GetCurrentMethod()))); } The question is how do I get the MethodInfo.GetCurrentMethod() when the DataContext has no method called "testFunction", i.e.typeof(DataContext).GetMethod("testFunction") returns null? What I'm trying to achieve is something like: public class UnitofWork<T> { public UnitofWork(string connectionString) { this.DataContext = new DataContext(connectionString); } public UnitofWork(IQueryable<T> tableEntity) { _tableEntity = tableEntity; } public IQueryable<T> TableEntity { get { if (DataContext == null) return _tableEntity; var metaType = DataContext.Mapping.GetMetaType(typeof (T)); if (metaType.IsEntity) _tableEntity = DataContext.GetTable<T>(); else { var s = typeof(T).Name; string methodName = s.Substring(0, s.IndexOf("Result")) + "()"; // the designer automatically affixes "Result" to the type name // Make a method from methodName // _tableEntity = DataContext.CreateMethodCallQuery(DataContext, method, new object[]{}); } return _tableEntity; } set { _tableEntity = value; } } ) Thanks in advance for any insight Jeremy

  • How to map IEnumerable<SelectListItem> to IList<> for ListBox

    - by Superhuman
    I have two classes. Class1 and Class2. public class Class1{ ... public virtual IList<Class2> Class2s{get;set;} ... } public class Class2{ ... public virtual IList<Class1> Class1s{get;set;} ... } The view contains <%=Html.ListBox("Class2s", ViewData.Model.Class2s.Select( x => new SelectListItem { Text = x.Name, Value = x.Id.ToString(), Selected = ViewData.Model.Class1.Class2s.Any(y => y.Id == x.Id) }) They have many to many mapping. I have a ListBox in Class1 view which displays Class2. How to map the output of the ListBox back to IList Class2s property of Class1? I am able to display the values in the ListBox but unable to map back the SelectListItem to IList.

  • Securing Files over Web: Fine Grained Authorization Based File Access

    - by Nishant
    I have a system where employees can upload files. There are three ways Upload to my account in public, private or protected mode Upload to department account in public, private or protected mode Upload to organization account in public, private or protected mode where public is visible to anyone, private to the group or person only and protected to anyone in the organization. All the files for an organization are stored in a directory say, /files/<organizationId>/, on file server like files +-- 234809 | +img1.jpg | +doc1.pdf +-- 808234 | +doc2.pdf I am storing file-path and privacy level in DB. So, I can control whether to show link to a file URL to an user -- on a given page. The problem is, I do not have any control over file's URL... so, if some one types the URL to img1.jpg in his browser's address bar, there is no way to know whether a logged in user is eligible to see img1.jpg. Any suggestion? Thanks Nishant

  • jackson failing to map empty array with No content to map to Object due to end of input

    - by ijabz
    I send a query to an api and map the json results to my classes using Jackson. When I get some results it works fine, but when there are no results it fails with java.io.EOFException: No content to map to Object due to end of input at org.codehaus.jackson.map.ObjectMapper._initForReading(ObjectMapper.java:2766) at org.codehaus.jackson.map.ObjectMapper._readMapAndClose(ObjectMapper.java:2709) at org.codehaus.jackson.map.ObjectMapper.readValue(ObjectMapper.java:1854) at com.jthink.discogs.query.DiscogsServerQuery.mapQuery(DiscogsServerQuery.java:382) at com.jthink.discogs.query.SearchQuery.mapQuery(SearchQuery.java:37)* But the thing is the api isn't returning nothing at all, so I dont see why it is failing. Here is the query: http://api.discogs.com/database/search?page=1&type=release&release_title=nude+and+rude+the+best+of+iggy+pop this is what I get back { "pagination": { "per_page": 50, "pages": 1, "page": 1, "urls": {}, "items": 0 }, "results": [] } and here is the top level object Im trying to map to public class Search { private Pagination pagination; private Result[] results; public Pagination getPagination() { return pagination; } public void setPagination(Pagination pagination) { this.pagination = pagination; } public Result[] getResults() { return results; } public void setResults(Result[] results) { this.results = results; } } Im guessing the problem is something to do with the results array being returned being blank, but cant see what Im doing wrong EDIT: The comment below was correct, although I usually receive { "pagination": { "per_page": 50, "pages": 1, "page": 1, "urls": {}, "items": 0 }, "results": [] } and in these cases there is no problem but sometimes I seem to just get an empty String. Now Im wondering if the problem is how I read from the inputstream if (responseCode == HttpURLConnection.HTTP_OK) InputStreamReader in= new InputStreamReader(uc.getInputStream()); BufferedReader br= new BufferedReader(in); while(br.ready()) { String next = br.readLine(); sb.append(next); } return sb.toString(); } although I dont read until I get the response code, is it possible that the first time I call br.ready() that I call it before it is ready, and therefore I don't read the input EDIT 2: Changing above code to simply String line; while ((line = br.readLine()) != null) { sb.append(line); } resolved the issue.

  • How do I unit test a finalizer?

    - by GraemeF
    I have the following class which is a decorator for an IDisposable object (I have omitted the stuff it adds) which itself implements IDisposable using a common pattern: public class DisposableDecorator : IDisposable { private readonly IDisposable _innerDisposable; public DisposableDecorator(IDisposable innerDisposable) { _innerDisposable = innerDisposable; } #region IDisposable Members public void Dispose() { Dispose(true); GC.SuppressFinalize(this); } #endregion ~DisposableDecorator() { Dispose(false); } protected virtual void Dispose(bool disposing) { if (disposing) _innerDisposable.Dispose(); } } I can easily test that innerDisposable is disposed when Dispose() is called: [Test] public void Dispose__DisposesInnerDisposable() { var mockInnerDisposable = new Mock<IDisposable>(); new DisposableDecorator(mockInnerDisposable.Object).Dispose(); mockInnerDisposable.Verify(x => x.Dispose()); } But how do I write a test to make sure innerDisposable does not get disposed by the finalizer? I want to write something like this but it fails, presumably because the finalizer hasn't been called by the GC thread: [Test] public void Finalizer__DoesNotDisposeInnerDisposable() { var mockInnerDisposable = new Mock<IDisposable>(); new DisposableDecorator(mockInnerDisposable.Object); GC.Collect(); mockInnerDisposable.Verify(x => x.Dispose(), Times.Never()); }

  • SWT: problems with clicking button after using setEnabled() on Linux

    - by Laimoncijus
    Hi, I have a strange case with SWT and Button after using setEnabled() - seems if I disable and enable button at least once - I cannot properly click with mouse on it anymore... Already minify code to very basic: import org.eclipse.swt.SWT; import org.eclipse.swt.events.SelectionEvent; import org.eclipse.swt.events.SelectionListener; import org.eclipse.swt.layout.GridLayout; import org.eclipse.swt.widgets.Button; import org.eclipse.swt.widgets.Display; import org.eclipse.swt.widgets.Shell; public class TestButton { public TestButton() { Display display = new Display(); Shell shell = new Shell(display); GridLayout mainLayout = new GridLayout(); shell.setLayout(mainLayout); shell.setSize(100, 100); Button testButton = new Button(shell, SWT.PUSH); testButton.addSelectionListener(new TestClickListener()); testButton.setText("Click me!"); //testButton.setEnabled(false); //testButton.setEnabled(true); shell.open(); while (!shell.isDisposed()) { if (!display.readAndDispatch()) display.sleep(); } display.dispose(); } class TestClickListener implements SelectionListener { @Override public void widgetDefaultSelected(SelectionEvent e) { } @Override public void widgetSelected(SelectionEvent e) { System.out.println("Click!"); } } public static void main(String[] args) { new TestButton(); } } When I keep these 2 lines commented out - I can properly click on a button and always get "Click!" logged, but if I uncomment them - then I can't click on button properly with mouse anymore - button visually seems to be clicked, but nothing is logged... Am I doing something wrong here? Or maybe it's some kind of bug on Linux platform? Because on Mac running the same code I never experienced such problems... Thanks for any hint! P.S. Running code on Ubuntu 9.10, Gnome + Compiz, Sun Java 1.6.0.16

  • Overlay only draws between first 2 points in Android

    - by LordSnoutimus
    Hi, I am experiencing an unusual error using ItemizedOverlay in Android. I am creating a GPS tracking device that plots a route between waypoints stored in a database. When I provide the first two sets of longitude and latitude points through the emulator in Eclipse, it draws a red line just how I want it, but if I send another GPS point, it animates to the point, but does not draw a line from the last point. public class MyOverlay extends ItemizedOverlay { // private Projection projection; private Paint linePaint; private Vector points; public MyOverlay(Drawable defaultMarker) { super(defaultMarker); points = new Vector<GeoPoint>(); //set colour, stroke width etc. linePaint = new Paint(); linePaint.setARGB(255, 255, 0, 0); linePaint.setStrokeWidth(3); linePaint.setDither(true); linePaint.setStyle(Style.FILL); linePaint.setAntiAlias(true); linePaint.setStrokeJoin(Paint.Join.ROUND); linePaint.setStrokeCap(Paint.Cap.ROUND); } public void addPoint(GeoPoint point) { points.addElement(point); } public void draw(Canvas canvas, MapView view, boolean shadow) { int size = points.size(); Point lastPoint = new Point(); if(size == 0) return; view.getProjection().toPixels(points.get(0), lastPoint); Point point = new Point(); for(int i = 1; i<size; i++){ view.getProjection().toPixels(points.get(i), point); canvas.drawLine(lastPoint.x, lastPoint.y, point.x, point.y, linePaint); lastPoint = point; } } @Override protected OverlayItem createItem(int arg0) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub return null; } @Override public int size() { // TODO Auto-generated method stub return 0; } }

  • c# Deserializing an element based on it's parent node's name

    - by daveharnett
    The XML I'm working with has the following structure: <fixture_statistics> <home_player_1 id="2306143" teamid="2"> <element_1>Some Data</element_1> <element_2>Some Data</element_2> </home_player_1> <home_player_2 id="2306144" teamid="2"> <element_1>Some Data</element_1> <element_2>Some Data</element_2> </home_player_2> </fixture_statistics> Now the code to deserialize it would normally look like this: [XmlRootAttribute("fixture_statistics", Namespace = "", IsNullable = false)] public class FixtureRoot { [XmlElement("home_player_1")] [XmlElement("home_player_2")] public List<FixtureStats> fixtures { get; set; } } public class FixtureStats { public string element_1; [XMLElement("element_2")] public string elementTwo; } Here's the question: I'd like the FixtureStats class to have a 'position' property which corrosponds to it's parent's element name (so the FixtureStat object corrosponding to home_player_1 would have position=1). Can this be done with the built-in serialization atrributes? If it's not possible, what's the cleanest workaround? Bear in mind that each document will have about 50 player elements, each with about 50 'child' data elements.

  • Are Multiple Iterators possible in php?

    - by artvolk
    Good day! I know that C# allows multiple iterators using yield, like described here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1754041/is-multiple-iterators-is-possible-in-c In PHP there is and Iterator interface. Is it possible to implement more than one iteration scenario for a class? More details (EDIT): For example I have class TreeNode implementing single tree node. The whole tree can be expressed using only one this class. I want to provide iterators for iterating all direct and indirect children of current node, for example using BreadthFirst or DepthFirst order. I can implement this Iterators as separate classes but doing so I need that tree node should expose it's children collection as public. C# pseudocode: public class TreeNode<T> { ... public IEnumerable<T> DepthFirstEnumerator { get { // Some tree traversal using 'yield return' } } public IEnumerable<T> BreadthFirstEnumerator { get { // Some tree traversal using 'yield return' } } }

  • How far does Dependency Injection reach?

    - by Baddie
    My web app solution consists of 3 projects: Web App (ASP.NET MVC) Business Logic Layer (Class Library) Database Layer (Entity Framework) I want to use Ninject to manage the lifetime of the DataContext generated by the Entity Framework in the Database Layer. The Business Logic layer consists of classes which reference repositories (located in the database layer) and my ASP.NET MVC app references the business logic layer's service classes to run code. Each repository creates an instance of the MyDataContext object from the Entity Framework Repository public class MyRepository { private MyDataContext db; public MyRepository { this.db = new MyDataContext(); } // methods } Business Logic Classes public class BizLogicClass { private MyRepository repos; public MyRepository { this.repos = new MyRepository(); } // do stuff with the repos } Will Ninject handle the lifetime of MyDataContext despite the lengthy dependency chain from the Web App to the Data Layer?

  • migrating an embedded jetty server from v6 to v7

    - by Ceilingfish
    Hi chaps, I have an embedded servlet which I use in unit tests, looks like this: public class UnitTestWebservices extends AbstractHandler { private Server server; private Map<Route,String> data = new HashMap<Route,String>(); public UnitTestWebservices(int port) throws Exception { server = new Server(port); server.setHandler(this); server.start(); } public void handle(String url, HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response, int arg3) throws IOException, ServletException { final Route route = Route.valueOf(request.getMethod(), url); final String content = data.get(route); if(content != null) { final ServletOutputStream stream = response.getOutputStream(); stream.print(content); stream.flush(); stream.close(); } else { response.sendError(HttpServletResponse.SC_NOT_FOUND); } } .... } That's written using version 6.1.24 of Jetty. I tried switching over to use Jetty 7.1.1.v20100517, and updated that code to this: public class UnitTestWebservices extends AbstractHandler { private Server server; private Map<Route,String> data = new HashMap<Route,String>(); public UnitTestWebservices(int port) throws Exception { server = new Server(port); server.setHandler(this); server.start(); } public void handle(String url, Request request, HttpServletRequest servletRequest, HttpServletResponse response) throws IOException, ServletException { final Route route = Route.valueOf(request.getMethod(), url); final String content = data.get(route); request.setHandled(true); response.setContentType("application/json"); if(content != null) { response.setStatus(HttpServletResponse.SC_OK); final Writer stream = response.getWriter(); stream.append(content); } else { response.sendError(HttpServletResponse.SC_NOT_FOUND); } } } But whenever I tried to access make a request to the server it would hang indefinitely. • JAXB marshals XML differently to OutputStream vs. StringWriter

    - by Andy
    I apologize if this has been answered, but the search terms I have been using (i.e. JAXB @XmlAttribute condensed or JAXB XML marshal to String different results) aren't coming up with anything. I am using JAXB to un/marshal objects annotated with @XmlElement and @XmlAttribute annotations. I have a formatter class which provides two methods -- one wraps the marshal method and accepts the object to marshal and an OutputStream, the other just accepts the object and returns the XML output as a String. Unfortunately, these methods do not provide the same output for the same objects. When marshaling to a file, simple object fields internally marked with @XmlAttribute are printed as: <element value="VALUE"></element> while when marshaling to a String, they are: <element value="VALUE"/> I would prefer the second format for both cases, but I am curious as to how to control the difference, and would settle for them being the same regardless. I even created one static marshaller that both methods use to eliminate different instance values. The formatting code follows: /** Marker interface for classes which are listed in jaxb.index */ public interface Marshalable {} /** Local exception class */ public class XMLMarshalException extends BaseException {} /** Class which un/marshals objects to XML */ public class XmlFormatter { private static Marshaller marshaller = null; private static Unmarshaller unmarshaller = null; static { try { JAXBContext context = JAXBContext.newInstance("path.to.package"); marshaller = context.createMarshaller(); marshaller.setProperty(Marshaller.JAXB_FORMATTED_OUTPUT, true); marshaller.setProperty(Marshaller.JAXB_ENCODING, "UTF-8"); unmarshaller = context.createUnmarshaller(); } catch (JAXBException e) { throw new RuntimeException("There was a problem creating a JAXBContext object for formatting the object to XML."); } } public void marshal(Marshalable obj, OutputStream os) throws XMLMarshalException { try { marshaller.marshal(obj, os); } catch (JAXBException jaxbe) { throw new XMLMarshalException(jaxbe); } } public String marshalToString(Marshalable obj) throws XMLMarshalException { try { StringWriter sw = new StringWriter(); marshaller.marshal(obj, sw); } catch (JAXBException jaxbe) { throw new XMLMarshalException(jaxbe); } } } /** Example data */ @XmlType @XmlAccessorType(XmlAccessType.FIELD) public class Data { @XmlAttribute(name = value) private String internalString; } /** Example POJO */ @XmlType @XmlRootElement(namespace = "project/schema") @XmlAccessorType(XmlAccessType.FIELD) public class Container implements Marshalable { @XmlElement(required = false, nillable = true) private int number; @XmlElement(required = false, nillable = true) private String word; @XmlElement(required = false, nillable = true) private Data data; } The result of calling marshal(container, new FileOutputStream("output.xml")) and marshalToString(container) are as follows: Output to file <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?> <ns2:container xmlns:ns2="project/schema"> <number>1</number> <word>stackoverflow</word> <data value="This is internal"></data> </ns2:container> and Output to String <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?> <ns2:container xmlns:ns2="project/schema"> <number>1</number> <word>stackoverflow</word> <data value="This is internal"/> </ns2:container>

  • Reusing xalan transformer causing its extension functions break

    - by Leslie Norman
    I am using xalan 2.7.1 to validate my xml docs with xslt style sheet. It works fine for the first document and returns error message in case of error along with correct line and column number of xml source by making use of NodeInfo.lineNumber and NodeInfo.columnNumber extensions. The problem is when I try to reuse transformer to validate other xml docs, it successfully transforms the document but always returns lineNumber=columnNumber=-1 for all errors. Any idea? Here is my code: TransformerFactory tFactory = TransformerFactory.newInstance("org.apache.xalan.processor.TransformerFactoryImpl", null); tFactory.setAttribute(TransformerFactoryImpl.FEATURE_SOURCE_LOCATION, Boolean.TRUE); StreamSource xsltStreamSource = new StreamSource(new File("E:\\Temp\\Test\\myXslt.xsl")); Transformer transformer=null; try { transformer = tFactory.newTransformer(xsltStreamSource); ByteArrayOutputStream outStream = new ByteArrayOutputStream(); File srcFolder = new File("E:\\Temp\\Test"); for (File file :srcFolder.listFiles()) { if (file.getName().endsWith("xml")) { transformer.transform(new StreamSource(file), new StreamResult(outStream)); transformer.reset(); } } System.out.println(outStream.toString()); } catch (TransformerException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } Edit: New code after implementing @rsp suggestions: package mycompany; import java.io.File; import javax.xml.transform.ErrorListener; import javax.xml.transform.Source; import javax.xml.transform.Transformer; import javax.xml.transform.TransformerException; import javax.xml.transform.TransformerFactory; import javax.xml.transform.stream.StreamResult; import javax.xml.transform.stream.StreamSource; import org.apache.xalan.processor.TransformerFactoryImpl; public class XsltTransformer { public static void main(String[] args) { TransformerFactory tFactory = TransformerFactory.newInstance("org.apache.xalan.processor.TransformerFactoryImpl", null); tFactory.setAttribute(TransformerFactoryImpl.FEATURE_SOURCE_LOCATION, Boolean.TRUE); StreamSource xsltStreamSource = new StreamSource(new File("E:\\Temp\\Test\\myXslt.xsl")); try { Transformer transformer = tFactory.newTransformer(xsltStreamSource); File srcFolder = new File("E:\\Temp\\Test"); for (File file : srcFolder.listFiles()) { if (file.getName().endsWith("xml")) { Source source = new StreamSource(file); StreamResult result = new StreamResult(System.out); XsltTransformer xsltTransformer = new XsltTransformer(); ErrorListenerImpl errorHandler = xsltTransformer.new ErrorListenerImpl(); transformer.setErrorListener(errorHandler); transformer.transform(source, result); if (errorHandler.e != null) { System.out.println("Transformation Exception: " + errorHandler.e.getMessage()); } transformer.reset(); } } } catch (TransformerException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } private class ErrorListenerImpl implements ErrorListener { public TransformerException e = null; public void error(TransformerException exception) { this.e = exception; } public void fatalError(TransformerException exception) { this.e = exception; } public void warning(TransformerException exception) { this.e = exception; } } }
