  • C++ code which is slower than its C equivalent?

    Are there any aspects to the C++ programming language where the code is known to be slower than the equivalent C language? Obviously this would be excluding the OO features like virtual functions and vtable features etc. I am wondering whether, when you are programming in a latency-critical area (and you aren't worried about OO features) whether you could stick with basic C++ or would C be better?

    How can I implement tail calls in a custom virtual machine? I know that I need to pop off the original function's local stack, then it's arguments, then push on the new arguments. But, if I pop off the function's local stack, how am I supposed to push on the new arguments? They've just been popped off the stack.

    The TouchUtils class in the android documentation has functions like drag() [http://developer.android.com/intl/de/reference/android/test/TouchUtils.html#drag(android.test.InstrumentationTestCase,%20float,%20float,%20float,%20float,%20int)], but they do not support multi touch gestures, like a two finger swipe. Looking at the MotionEvent.obtain() methods, there does not seem to be any way of invoking a "virtual" multi touch event from a testcase. Anyone has got it working?

    Is there a way to print the layout of a C++ object using the g++ compiler or any other means. A simplified example (assuming int takes 4 bytes) class A{ int a; }; class B:public A{ int b; } so the output would be A - 0 4 + a + B- 0 4 8 + A.a + b + It would be useful to understand the layout of objects (in my case virtual machine code).   • How can I prevent javascript errors in my selenium tests from hanging my build system?

    We are having a problem with our selenium tests which run in IE on a virtual machine. Whenever there is a javascript error, a popup shows up and puts our system into a 'stuck' state - a user has to go clear that and restart the selenium test run. Is there a way to prevent the javascript error popup from putting the system into its stuck state? Would setting window.error be of any help here?

    Bit of a dumb question, but I'm wondering what the accepted way of passing data from back to an overridden base method is in c#. e.g. I guess I could do: class A { int x; public virtual void DoStuff() { Console.WriteLine(x); } } class B : A { public override void DoStuff() { x = 1; base.DoStuff(); } } But is there a better method that for example doesn't require the use of a member variable?

As I research Robotium works with a different Virtual Machine (Dalvik) so I cannot run as Junit Test (Only with Android Junit Test). So I found a possible solution to run Robotium with Junit with RoboRemote https://github.com/groupon/robo-remote. But when i tried to integrate with cucumber the tests became unstable.     i have a problem on my domain, the history starting from when i had a server with WIN 2008 r2 installed with the following roles installed on it (AD, DNS, DHCP, File). From 1 month i decided to install a new server 2008 r2 server to get (AD, DNS, DHCP) and leave the file server on the old one. i did the following exactly: 1) robocopy all my data on external HDD 2) Install a new server with 2008 r2 3) transfer all 5 roles to transfer the domain to the new server (MainDC) 4) issue (NETLOGON, SYSVOL) not transferred but i decided to reinitialize them again an now they are operating (MainDC) 5) re-create and re-configure a new GPOs and link it to my OUs 6) reinstall Old server operating system with a fresh installation of WIN 2008 R2 (FileServer) 7) join my domain with my domain credentials. the issue when i tried to share folder on \fileserver the permissions that i had set in sharing permissions are applied on the main shared folder and subfolders. the security settings are not applied. i.e. Say i'm sharing \fileserver\MainFolder with sharing permission for Authenticated Users that can read, so every one can read this main shared folder, if i set security permission for \fileserver\MainFolder\User1 that User1 can Read\Write\Modify. User1 can not perform this processes when accessing it from Network Share, i tried alot of steps from topics online get ownership for folder, remove inheritance from parent folder, applying changes for child objects, i tried also to construct a new folder structure but also the same issue, i tried another host PC, also i get the same issue.

    Hi, I have a website deeloped in ASP.NET and I want it to be accessed via local URL, for eg: http://localhost/website20 I tried once but the CMS in my website started giving error "It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level. This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS." Please help about the steps I need to follow.
