  • How to decrypt a string encrypted with HMACSHA1?

    - by Bob
I'm an encryption novice trying to pass some values back and forth between systems. I can encrypt the value, but can't seem to figure out how to decrypt on the other end. I've created a simple Windows Forms application using VB.NET. Trying to input a value and a key, encrypt and then decrypt to get the original value. Here's my code so far. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks. Imports System Imports System.IO Imports System.Security.Cryptography Imports System.Text Public Class Form1 Private Sub btnEncode_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnEncode.Click Dim hmacsha1 As New HMACSHA1(Encoding.ASCII.GetBytes(txtKey.Text)) Dim hashValue As Byte() = hmacsha1.ComputeHash(Encoding.ASCII.GetBytes(txtValue.Text)) txtResult.Text = BytesToHexString(hashValue) hmacsha1.Clear() End Sub Private Sub btnDecode_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnDecode.Click '??? End Sub Private Function BytesToHexString(ByVal bytes As Byte()) As String Dim output As String = String.Empty Dim i As Integer = 0 Do While i < bytes.Length output += bytes(i).ToString("X2") i += 1 Loop Return output End Function End Class

  • How to populate Range variable from a Sub/Function call?

    - by Ken Ingram
I am trying to get this sub to work but the operationalRange variable is not being assigned. Despite the fact that the function selectBodyRow(bodyName) works fine. Sub sortRows(bodyName As String, ByRef wksht As Worksheet) Dim operationalRange As Range Set operationalRange = selectBodyRow(bodyName) Debug.Print "Sorting Worksheet: " & wksht.Name If Not operationalRange Is Nothing Then operationalRange.Select Debug.Print "Sorting " & operationalRange.Count & "Rows." ActiveWorkbook.Worksheets(wksht.Name).Sort.SortFields.Clear ActiveWorkbook.Worksheets(wksht.Name).Sort.SortFields.Add Key:=operationalRange, _ SortOn:=xlSortOnValues, Order:=xlAscending, DataOption:=xlSortNormal ActiveWorkbook.Worksheets(wksht.Name).Sort.SortFields.Add Key:=operationalRange, _ SortOn:=xlSortOnValues, Order:=xlAscending, DataOption:=xlSortNormal With ActiveWorkbook.Worksheets(wksht.Name).Sort .SetRange operationalRange .Header = xlGuess .MatchCase = False .Orientation = xlTopToBottom .SortMethod = xlPinYin .Apply End With Else MsgBox "Body is not being Set" End If End Sub The Sub being called by the above Sub is: Function selectBodyRow(bodyName As String) As Range Dim rangeStart As String, rangeEnd As String Dim selectionStart As Range, selectionEnd As Range Dim result As Range, srchRng As Range, cngrs As Variant If bodyName = "WEST" Then rangeStart = "<-WEST START->" rangeEnd = "<-WEST END->" ElseIf bodyName = "EAST" Then rangeStart = "<-EAST START->" rangeEnd = "<-EAST END->" End If Set srchRng = Range("A:A") srchRng.Select Set selectionStart = srchRng.Find(What:=rangeStart, After:=ActiveCell, LookIn _ :=xlValues, LookAt:=xlPart, SearchOrder:=xlByRows, SearchDirection:= _ xlNext, MatchCase:=False, SearchFormat:=False) Set selectionEnd = srchRng.Find(What:=rangeEnd, After:=ActiveCell, LookIn _ :=xlValues, LookAt:=xlPart, SearchOrder:=xlByRows, SearchDirection:= _ xlNext, MatchCase:=False, SearchFormat:=False) Set result = Range(selectionStart.Offset(1, 0), selectionEnd.Offset(-1, 0)) result.EntireRow.Select End Function

  • Converting Python Script to Vb.NET - Involves Post and Input XML String

    - by Jason Shoulders
I'm trying to convert a Python Script to Vb.Net. The Python Script appears to accept some XML input data and then takes it to a web URL and does a "POST". I tried some VB.NET code to do it, but I think my approach is off because I got an error back "BadXmlDataErr" plus I can't really format my input XML very well - I'm only doing string and value. The input XML is richer than that. Here is an example of what the XML input data looks like in the Python script: <obj is="MyOrg:realCommand_v1/" > <int name="priority" val="1" /> <real name="value" val="9.5" /> <str name="user" val="MyUserName" /> <reltime name="overrideTime" val="PT60S"/> </obj> Here's the Vb.net code I attempted to convert that: Dim reqparm As New Specialized.NameValueCollection reqparm.Add("priority", "1") reqparm.Add("value", "9.5") reqparm.Add("user", "MyUserName") reqparm.Add("overrideTime", "PT60S") Using client As New Net.WebClient Dim sTheUrl As String = "[My URL]" Dim responsebytes = client.UploadValues(sTheUrl, "POST", MyReqparm) Dim responsebody = (New System.Text.UTF8Encoding).GetString(responsebytes) End Using I feel like I should be doing something else. Can anyone point me to the right direction?

  • MS Access Bulk Insert exits app

    - by Brij
In the web service, I have to bulk insert data in MS Access database. First, There was single complex Insert-Select query,There was no error but app exited after inserting some records. I have divided the query to make it simple and using linq to remove complexity of query. now I am inserting records using for loop. there are approx 10000 records. Again, same problem. I put a breakpoint after loop, but No hit. I have used try catch, but no error found. For Each item In lstSelDel Try qry = String.Format("insert into Table(Id,link,file1,file2,pID) values ({0},""{1}"",""{2}"",""{3}"",{4})", item.WebInfoID, item.Links, item.Name, item.pName, pDateID) DAL.ExecN(qry) Catch ex As Exception Throw ex End Try Next Public Shared Function ExecN(ByVal SQL As String) As Integer Dim ret As Integer = -1 Dim nowConString As String = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=" + System.AppDomain.CurrentDomain.BaseDirectory + "DataBase\\mydatabase.mdb;" Dim nowCon As System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection nowCon = New System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection(nowConString) Dim cmd As New OleDb.OleDbCommand(SQL, nowCon) nowCon.Open() ret = cmd.ExecuteNonQuery() nowCon.Close() nowCon.Dispose() cmd.Dispose() Return ret End Function After exiting app, I see w3wp.exe uses more than 50% of Memory. Any idea, What is going wrong? Is there any limitation of MS Access?

  • MSForms.ListBox Type Mismatch in Access

    - by Jason
I have an Access database where I use a Tab control (without tabs) to simulate a wizard. One of the tab pages has an MSForms.ListBox control called lstPorts, and a button named cmdAdd which adds the contents of a textbox to the List Box. I then try to keep the contents of the ListBox sorted. However, the call to the Sort method causes a type mismatch. Here is the cmdAdd_Click() code behind: Private Sub cmdAdd_Click() Dim test As MSForms.ListBox lstPorts2.AddItem (txtPortName) Call SortListBox(lstPorts2) End Sub Here is the SortListBox Sub: Public Sub SortListBox(ByRef oLb As MSForms.ListBox) Dim vaItems As Variant Dim i As Long, j As Long Dim vTemp As Variant 'Put the items in a variant array vaItems = oLb.List For i = LBound(vaItems, 1) To UBound(vaItems, 1) - 1 For j = i + 1 To UBound(vaItems, 1) If vaItems(i, 0) > vaItems(j, 0) Then vTemp = vaItems(i, 0) vaItems(i, 0) = vaItems(j, 0) vaItems(j, 0) = vTemp End If Next j Next i 'Clear the listbox oLb.Clear 'Add the sorted array back to the listbox For i = LBound(vaItems, 1) To UBound(vaItems, 1) oLb.AddItem vaItems(i, 0) Next i End Sub Any help out there? Since the Sort routine explicitly references the MSForms.ListBox, most of the results from Google aren't applicable. Jason

  • Speed up an Excel Macro?

    Right now I have a macro PopulateYearlyValues But it seems to me it's taking way too long Sub PopulateYearlyValues(ByVal Month As Range) Dim c As Double Dim s As Double c = Application.WorksheetFunction.Match(UCase(Month.Value), ActiveSheet.Range("AA5:AX5"), 0) s = (ActiveSheet.Range("AA5").Column - 1) With ActiveSheet Dim i As Integer Dim j As Integer For i = 7 To 44 .Range("G" & i).Value = 0 .Range("H" & i).Value = 0 For j = 1 To c .Range("G" & i).Value = (.Range("G" & i).Value + .Cells(i, s).Offset(0, j)) .Range("H" & i).Value = (.Range("H" & i).Value + .Cells(i, s).Offset(0, (j + 1))) j = j + 1 Next j Next i End With End Sub I have a range G7:H44 that needs to be populated with the SUM of range AA7:AX44 but.. it's only every other column: If Month.Value = "January" G7 = SUM(AA7) H7 = SUM(AB7) ... G44 = SUM(AA44) H44 = SUM(AB44) End If If Month.Value = "April" G7 = SUM(AA7, AC7, AE7, AG7) H7 = SUM(AB7, AD7, AF7, AH7) ... G44 = SUM(AA44, AC44, AE44, AG44) H44 = SUM(AB44, AD44, AF44, AH44) End If But the macro I have is taking way too long.. Is there any other way to do this?

  • Combining two .png images into one image using .NET

    - by Omega
I have two (actually many) .png images in my application. Both have transparent areas here and there. I want, in my application, to take both images, combine them, and display the result in a picture box. Later I want to save the result through a button. So far I managed to find the two images and combine them, but it seems the transparency thing won't work. I mean, if you put one image over another, only the top image is visible as the result because, apparently, the image's background is a plain white box. Which is not. Here is a bit of my code: Dim Result As New Bitmap(96, 128) Dim g As Graphics = Graphics.FromImage(Result) Dim Name As String For Each Name In BasesCheckList.CheckedItems Dim Layer As New Bitmap(resourcesPath & "Bases\" & Name) For x = 0 To Layer.Width - 1 For y = 0 To Layer.Height - 1 Result.SetPixel(x, y, Layer.GetPixel(x, y)) Next Next Layer = Nothing Next resourcesPath is the path to my resources folder. Bases is a folder in it. And Name is the image's name. Thank you.

  • How to write to a text file in pipe delimited format from SQL Server / ASP.Net?

    - by NJTechGuy
I have a text file which needs to be constantly updated (regular intervals). All I want is the syntax and possibly some code that outputs data from a SQL Server database using ASP.Net. The code I have so far is : <%@ Import Namespace="System.IO" %> <script language="vb" runat="server"> sub Page_Load(sender as Object, e as EventArgs) Dim FILENAME as String = Server.MapPath("Output.txt") Dim objStreamWriter as StreamWriter ' If Len(Dir$(FILENAME)) > 0 Then Kill(FILENAME) objStreamWriter = File.AppendText(FILENAME) objStreamWriter.WriteLine("A user viewed this demo at: " & DateTime.Now.ToString()) objStreamWriter.Close() Dim objStreamReader as StreamReader objStreamReader = File.OpenText(FILENAME) Dim contents as String = objStreamReader.ReadToEnd() lblNicerOutput.Text = contents.Replace(vbCrLf, "<br>") objStreamReader.Close() end sub </script> <asp:label runat="server" id="lblNicerOutput" Font-Name="Verdana" /> With PHP, it is a breeze, but with .Net I have no clue. If you could help me with the database connectivity and how to write the data in pipe delimited format to an Output.txt file, that had be awesome. Thanks guys!

  • Excel 2010 VBA code is stuck when UserForm is shown

    - by Denis
I've created a UserForm as a progress indicator while a web query (using InternetExplorer object) runs in the background. The code gets triggered as shown below. The progress indicator form is called 'Progerss'. Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range) If Target.Row = Range("B2").Row And Target.Column = Range("B2").Column Then Progress.Show vbModeless Range("A4:A65535").ClearContents GetWebData (Range("B2").Value) Progress.Hide End If End Sub What I see with this code is that the progress indicator form pops up when cell B2 changes. I also see that the range of cells in column A gets cleared which tells me that the vbModeless is doing what I want. But then, somewhere within the GetWebData() procedure, things get hung up. As soon as I manually destroy the progress indicator form, the GetWebData() routine finishes and I see the correct results. But if I leave the progress indicator visible, things just get stuck indefinitely. The code below shows what GetWebData() is doing. Private Sub GetWebData(ByVal Symbol As String) Dim IE As New InternetExplorer 'IE.Visible = True IE.navigate MyURL Do DoEvents Loop Until IE.readyState = READYSTATE_COMPLETE Dim Doc As HTMLDocument Set Doc = IE.document Dim Rows As IHTMLElementCollection Set Rows = Doc.getElementsByClassName("financialTable").Item(0).all.tags("tr") Dim r As Long r = 0 For Each Row In Rows Sheet1.Range("A4").Offset(r, 0).Value = Row.Children.Item(0).innerText r = r + 1 Next End Sub Any thoughts?

  • Is there bug in the Matrix.RotateAt method for certain angles? .Net Winforms

    - by Jules
Here's the code i'm using to rotate: Dim m As New System.Drawing.Drawing2D.Matrix Dim size = image.Size m.RotateAt(degreeAngle, New PointF(CSng(size.Width / 2), CSng(size.Height / 2))) Dim temp As New Bitmap(600, 600, Imaging.PixelFormat.Format32bppPArgb) Dim g As Graphics = Graphics.FromImage(temp) g.Transform = m g.DrawImage(image, 0, 0) (1) Disposals removed for brevity. (2) I test the code with a 200 x 200 rectangle. (3) Size 600,600 it just an arbitrary large value that I know will fit the right and bottom sides of the rotated image for testing purposes. (4) I know, with this code, the top and left edges will be clipped because I'm not transforming the orgin after the rotate. The problem only occurs at certain angles: (1) At 90, the right hand edge disappears completely. (2) At 180, the right and bottom edges are there, but very faded. (3) At 270, the bottom edge disappears completely. Is this a known bug? If I manually rotate the corners an draw the image by specifying an output rectangle, I don't get the same problem - though it is slightly slower than using RotateAt.

  • LINQ to XML: suppressing redundant namespace attribute in child nodes

    - by GSerg
If a node belongs to a namespace, it's children by default belong to the same namespace. So there's no need to provide an xmlns attribute on each child, which is good. However. If I create two nodes like this: Dim parent = <parent xmlns="http://my.namespace.org"/> Dim child = <child xmlns="http://my.namespace.org">value</child> parent.Add(child) Console.WriteLine(parent.ToString) The result is this: <parent xmlns="http://my.namespace.org"> <child xmlns="http://my.namespace.org">value</child> </parent> But, if create them in a less convenient way: Dim parent = <parent xmlns="http://my.namespace.org"/> Dim child As New XElement(XName.Get("child", "http://my.namespace.org")) With {.Value = "value"} parent.Add(child) Console.WriteLine(parent.ToString) The result is more desirable: <parent xmlns="http://my.namespace.org"> <child>value</child> </parent> Obviously, I'd prefer to use the first way because it is so much more intuitive and easy to code. There's also another reason to not use method 2 -- sometimes I need to create nodes with XElement.Parse, parsing a string that contains an xmlns attribute, which produces exactly same results as method 1. So the question is -- how do I get the pretty output of method 2, creating nodes as in method 1? The only option I see is to create a method that would clone given XElement, effectively recreating it according to method 2 pattern, but that seems ugly. I'm looking for a more obvious solution I overlooked for some reason.

  • lambda expressions in VB.NET... what am I doing wrong???

  • first major web app

    - by vbNewbie
I have created a web app version of my previous crawler app and the initial form has controls to allow the client to make selections and start a search 'job'. These searches 'jobs' will be run my different threads created individually and added to a list to keep track of. Now the idea is to have another web form that will display this list of 'jobs' and their current status and will allow the jobs to be cancelled or removed only from the server side. This second form contains a grid to display these jobs. Now I have no idea if I should create the threads in the initial form code or send all user input to my main class which runs the search and if so how do I pass the the thread list to the second form to have it displayed on the grid. Any ideas really appreciated. Dim count As Integer = 0 Dim numThread As Integer = 0 Dim jobStartTime As Date Dim thread = New Thread(AddressOf ResetFormControlValues) 'StartBlogDiscovery) jobStartTime = Date. Now thread.Name = "Job" & jobStartTime 'clientName Session("Job") = "Job" & jobStartTime 'clientName thread.start() thread.sleep(50000) If numThread >= 10 Then For Each thread In threadlist thread.Join() Next Else numThread = numThread + 1 SyncLock threadlist threadlist.Enqueue(thread) End SyncLock End If this is the code that is called when the user clicks the search button on the inital form. this is what I just thought might work on the second web form if i used the session method. Try If Not Page.IsPostBack Then If Not Session("Job") = Nothing Then Grid1.DataSource = Session("Job") Grid1.DataBind() End If End If Finally

I am able to select the xElement (xEl1) and update its value. 'Example Without Namespace Dim XmlWithOutNs = _ <?xml version="1.0"?> <RATABASECALC> <RATEREQUEST> <ANCHOR> <DATABASENAME>DatabaseName</DATABASENAME> <DATABASEPW>DatabasePw</DATABASEPW> </ANCHOR> </RATEREQUEST> </RATABASECALC> Dim xEl1 = XmlWithOutNs...<DATABASEPW>.FirstOrDefault If xEl1 IsNot Nothing Then xEl1.Value = "test" End If However, in the below code the xElement (xEl2) returns Nothing. • Excel VBA: Error Handling with Case Statement

    - by AME
I am trying to validate a file that is uploaded by the user using the code below. The error handler checks the top row of the uploaded file for three specific column names. If one or more of the column names is not present, the program should return a prompt to the user notifying them which column(s) are missing from the file that they uploaded and then close the file. There are a couple issues with my current VBA code that I am seeking help with: The prompt doesn't specify which column(s) are missing to the user. The error handler is triggered even when all required columns are present in the uploaded file. Code: Sub getworkbook() ' Get workbook... • Making A Dynaically Created Excel Report Downloadable

    - by Nick LaMarca
I have 2 blocks of code, if someone could help me put them together I would get the functionality I am looking for. The first block of code downloads a gridview to excel using the download dialog I am looking for: Public Overloads Overrides Sub VerifyRenderingInServerForm(ByVal control As Control) ' Verifies that the control is rendered End Sub Private Sub ExportToExcel(ByVal filename As String, ByVal gv As GridView, ByVal numOfCol As Integer) Response.Clear() Response.Buffer = True Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", String.Format("attachment; filename={0}", filename)) Response.Charset = "" Response.ContentType = "application/vnd.ms-excel" Dim sw As New StringWriter() Dim hw As New HtmlTextWriter(sw) gv.AllowPaging = False gv.DataBind() 'Change the Header Row back to white color gv.HeaderRow.Style.Add("background-color", "#FFFFFF") For i As Integer = 0 To numOfCol - 1 gv.HeaderRow.Cells(i).Style.Add("background-color", "blue") gv.HeaderRow.Cells(i).Style.Add("color", "#FFFFFF") Next For i As Integer = 0 To gv.Rows.Count - 1 Dim row As GridViewRow = gv.Rows(i) 'Change Color back to white row.BackColor = System.Drawing.Color.White For j As Integer = 0 To numOfCol - 1 row.Cells(j).Style.Add("text-align", "center") Next 'Apply text style to each Row row.Attributes.Add("class", "textmode") 'Apply style to Individual Cells of Alternating Row If i Mod 2 <> 0 Then For j As Integer = 0 To numOfCol - 1 row.Cells(j).Style.Add("background-color", "#CCFFFF") row.Cells(j).Style.Add("text-align", "center") '#C2D69B 'row.Cells(j).Style.Add("font-size", "12pt") Next End If Next gv.RenderControl(hw) 'style to format numbers to string Dim style As String = "<style> .textmode { mso-number-format:\@; } </style>" Response.Write(style) Response.Output.Write(sw.ToString()) Response.Flush() Response.End() End Sub The second block of code is a sample report I am wish to be downloaded. So instead of downloading a gridview I want this function to accept a worksheet object.

  • VB looping complication

    - by user1819469
I have to come up with a program that shifts names in a text box a random amount of times. I have gotten everything up to the point where the names shifts a random amount of times. It only shifts its once, but my messagebox appears through the code as many times as the names should be shifting once i click ok. Does anyone know why the loop is not working for the name shifts. I was thinking maybe the messagebox needs to control the loop, but I have searched endlessly and cannot find how that would be done. Any suggestions or referrals to other sites would be nice thanks. My code is below. Public Class Form1 Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Dim RandomNumber As Integer Dim min, max As Integer Dim temp, temp2, temp3, temp4, temp5, temp6 As String Dim i As Integer min = 3 max = 11 Randomize() RandomNumber = Int((max - min + 1) * Rnd() + min) temp = n1.Text temp2 = n2.Text temp3 = n3.Text temp4 = n4.Text temp5 = n5.Text temp6 = n6.Text For i = 0 To RandomNumber - 1 n1.Text = temp6 n2.Text = temp n3.Text = temp2 n4.Text = temp3 n5.Text = temp4 n6.Text = temp5 MessageBox.Show("Shift " & i & " of " & RandomNumber & " complete") Next End Sub End Class

  • How to print PCL Directly to the printer? Vb.net VS 2010

    - by Justin
Good day, I've been trying to upgrade an old Print Program that prints raw pcl directly to the printer. The print program takes a PCL Mask and a PCL Batch Spool File (just pcl with page turn commands, I think) merges them and sends them off to the printer. I'm able to send to the Printer a file stream of PCL but I get mixed results and i do not understand why printing is so difficult under .net. I mean yes there is the PrintDocument class, but to print PCL... Let's just say I'm ready to detach my printer from the network and burn it a live. Here is my class PrintDirect (rather a hybrid class) Imports System Imports System.Text Imports System.Runtime.InteropServices <StructLayout(LayoutKind.Sequential)> _ Public Structure DOCINFO <MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.LPWStr)> _ Public pDocName As String <MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.LPWStr)> _ Public pOutputFile As String <MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.LPWStr)> _ Public pDataType As String End Structure 'DOCINFO Public Class PrintDirect <DllImport("winspool.drv", CharSet:=CharSet.Unicode, ExactSpelling:=False, CallingConvention:=CallingConvention.StdCall)> _ Public Shared Function OpenPrinter(ByVal pPrinterName As String, ByRef phPrinter As IntPtr, ByVal pDefault As Integer) As Long End Function <DllImport("winspool.drv", CharSet:=CharSet.Unicode, ExactSpelling:=False, CallingConvention:=CallingConvention.StdCall)> _ Public Shared Function StartDocPrinter(ByVal hPrinter As IntPtr, ByVal Level As Integer, ByRef pDocInfo As DOCINFO) As Long End Function <DllImport("winspool.drv", CharSet:=CharSet.Unicode, ExactSpelling:=True, CallingConvention:=CallingConvention.StdCall)> _ Public Shared Function StartPagePrinter(ByVal hPrinter As IntPtr) As Long End Function <DllImport("winspool.drv", CharSet:=CharSet.Ansi, ExactSpelling:=True, CallingConvention:=CallingConvention.StdCall)> _ Public Shared Function WritePrinter(ByVal hPrinter As IntPtr, ByVal data As String, ByVal buf As Integer, ByRef pcWritten As Integer) As Long End Function <DllImport("winspool.drv", CharSet:=CharSet.Unicode, ExactSpelling:=True, CallingConvention:=CallingConvention.StdCall)> _ Public Shared Function EndPagePrinter(ByVal hPrinter As IntPtr) As Long End Function <DllImport("winspool.drv", CharSet:=CharSet.Unicode, ExactSpelling:=True, CallingConvention:=CallingConvention.StdCall)> _ Public Shared Function EndDocPrinter(ByVal hPrinter As IntPtr) As Long End Function <DllImport("winspool.drv", CharSet:=CharSet.Unicode, ExactSpelling:=True, CallingConvention:=CallingConvention.StdCall)> _ Public Shared Function ClosePrinter(ByVal hPrinter As IntPtr) As Long End Function 'Helps uses to work with the printer Public Class PrintJob ''' <summary> ''' The address of the printer to print to. I'm simple printing the PCL Masks, to show proof of concept. But I can't even do that. I can effectively create PCL and send it the printer without reading the file and it works fine... Plus I get mixed results with different stream reader text encoding as well. Dim pJob As New PrintDirect.PrintJob pJob.DocumentName = " test doc" pJob.DocumentDataType = PrintDirect.PrintJob.PrintDataType.RAW pJob.PrinterName = sPrinter.GetDevicePath '//This is where you'd stick your device name, sPrinter stands for Selected Printer from a dropdown (combobox). 'pJob.DocumentOutputFile = "C:\temp\test-spool.txt" If Not pJob.OpenPrint() Then MsgBox("Unable to connect to " & pJob.PrinterName, MsgBoxStyle.OkOnly, "Print Error") Exit Sub End If pJob.OpenDocument() pJob.StartPage() Dim sr As New IO.StreamReader(Me.txtFile.Text, Text.Encoding.ASCII) '//I've got best results with ASCII before, but only mized. Dim line As String = sr.ReadLine 'Fix for fly code on first run 'If line = 27 Then line = PrintDirect.PrintJob.PCL_Control_Character Do While (Not line Is Nothing) pJob.WriteToPrinter(line) line = sr.ReadLine Loop 'pJob.WriteToPrinter(ControlChars.FormFeed) pJob.EndPage() pJob.CloseDocument() sr.Close() sr.Dispose() sr = Nothing pJob.Close() I was able to get to print the mask, in the morning... now I'm getting strange printer characters scattered through 5 pages... I'm totally clueless. I must have changed something or the printer is at fault. You can access my test Check Mask, here http://kscserver.com/so/chk_mask.zip .

  • Html.DropDownListFor not behaving as expected ASP.net MVC

    - by rybl
Hello, I am new to ASP.net MVC and I am having trouble getting dropdown lists to work correctly. I have a strongly typed view that is attempting to use a Html.DropDownListFor as follows: <%=Html.DropDownListFor(Function(model) model.Arrdep, Model.ArrdepOptions)%> I am populating the list with a property in my model as follows: Public ReadOnly Property ArrdepOptions() As List(Of SelectListItem) Get Dim list As New List(Of SelectListItem) Dim arriveListItem As New SelectListItem() Dim departListItem As New SelectListItem() arriveListItem.Text = "Arrive At" arriveListItem.Value = ArriveDepart.Arrive departListItem.Text = "Depart At" departListItem.Value = ArriveDepart.Depart Select Case Me.Arrdep Case ArriveDepart.Arrive : arriveListItem.Selected = True Case Else : departListItem.Selected = True End Select list.Add(departListItem) list.Add(arriveListItem) Return list End Get End Property The Select Case works find and it sets the right SelectListItem as Selected, but when my view renders the dropdown list no matter what is marked as selected the generated HTML does not have anything selected. Am I obviously doing something wrong or missing something, but I can't for the life of me figure out what.

  • iTextSharp renders image with poor quality in PDF

    - by Sebastian
Hello, I'm using iTextSharp to print a PDF document. Everything goes ok until I have to print the company logo in it. First I noticed that the logo had poor quality, but after testing with several images, I realize that was the iTextSharp rendering it poorly. The test I did to say this was to print the PDF using my code and then edit the document with Acrobat 8.0 and I drew an image. Then printed the two documents and saw the noticeable difference. My question is that if anyone know if this can be due to a scaling problem where I'm failing to tell iTextSharp how it must render the image or is an iTextSharp limitation. The code to render the image is the following: Dim para As Paragraph = New Paragraph para.Alignment = Image.RIGHT_ALIGN para.Add(text) Dim imageFile As String = String.Format("{0}{1}", GetAppSetting("UploadDirectory"), myCompany.LogoUrl) Dim thisImage As Image = Image.GetInstance(imageFile) thisImage.Alignment = Image.LEFT_ALIGN para.Add(thisImage) The printed images are the following: Image printed directly with iTextSharp Image edited and printed with Acrobat 8 Please let me know if I need to provide more info. Thanks
