• How to handle Append Only text fields in a Sharepoint DataSheet view?

  We've created a Sharepoint site to track a process. Eventually we're going to make a workflow out of it, but in the meantime there's a list we all have to look at which lists the various dates each piece is supposed to be finished. So basically My group needs to see and update columns X, Y, Z and Comments while ignoring the other 30 billion or so columns. Which is great in datasheet view because we can easily view our columns, and update them right there without drilling into the item and browsing through all the other crap we don't need. The problem is the Comments field, in which we really need to see the last actual comment made. Unfortunately whenever anyone saves the record the field is updated with a blank value (unless they entered a comment) and the last actual comment is lost unless you drill into the item. Is there some way to get the Datasheet view to show all the entries? I should also note that I know very little about Sharepoint 2007... so detailed answers would be nice!

• WPF DataGrid: How to reset column width when applying new ItemsSource

  I am using a DataGrid to display details of an item selected in a ListBox. The DataGrid has 3 columns set to Width="Auto". As different items in the ListBox are selected, the width of the columns in the DataGrid increase as needed in order to display the text. What I want is that the column widths also decrease when the extra width is not needed. An example. Column 1 normally contains a percent value. However, in some cases it contains a long error message which causes column 1 to widen and push columns 2 & 3 off the screen. When I switch to an item containing normal values, I want column 1 to regain its' normal width and for columns 2 & 3 to be visible again. What can I do to force the column widths to take the minimum size?

  Hi, I'm trying to retrieve an object from my database using entity (framework 4) When I use the following code it gives an ArgumentException: An item with the same key has already been added. if (databaseContext.TryGetObjectByKey(entityKey, out result)) { return (result != null && result is TEntityObject) ? result as TEntityObject : null; } else { return null; } When I check the objectContext, I see the entities, but only if I enumerate the specific list of entities manually using VS2010, it works. What am I missing? Do I have to do something else before i can get the item from the database? I have lazy loading set to true. I need to attach to each list item file (*.jpg) from a local folder. The title in the tab bar remains the same as the view controller's title. Everything is being instantiated programmatically here, including the tab bar controller.

  I'm getting an error while trying to load an record through the constructor. The constructor is: public Document(Expression<Func<Document,bool>> expression); and i try to load a single item in like this var x = new Document(f=>f.publicationnumber=="xxx"); publicationnumber isn't a key but tried making an it an unique key and still no go.. Am i totally wrong regarding the use of the constructor? and can someone please tell me how to use that constructor?   I've been given the task to create a simple Silverlight chat box for two people. My control must adhere to the following requirements Scrollable Text must wrap if it's too long When a new item / message is added it must scroll that item into view Now I've successfully made a usercontrol to meet these requirements, but I've run into a possible bug / crash that I can't for the life of me fix. I'm looking for either a fix to the bug, or a different approach to creating a scrollable chat control. Here's the code I've been using. The problem I'm getting is when I use the scroll bar. You can scroll down using the side scroll bar or arrow keys, but when you scroll up Silverlight crashes. FireBug returns a ManagedRuntimeError #4004 with a XamlParseException. I'm soo close to having this control work, I can taste it! Any thoughts on what I should do or change? Is there a better approach than the one I've taken? Thanks in advance. UPDATE I've found an alternative solution using a ScrollViewer and an ItemsControl instead of a ListBox control. For the most part it's stable.

• WIA Automation for scanner color intent is not working

  I cannot get my Canon Pixma MP150 to scan a color scan from c# code. The following code is resulting in a black and white image, or if I change the value of 6146 to 2 then a grayscale image is created. I would like to be able to have a color scan from code. I know the scanner does color images because I can do one through the xp wizard in "scanners and camera". Can anyone help me figure out what value I am not setting for a color scan. All documentation and examples I can find just say to change the value of 6146.   I have an (non-virtualized) ItemsControl that binds its ItemsSource to a ObeservableCollection of ViewModel instances. Now once the large amount Model instances is loaded all the ViewModel complemnents needs to be added to that ObservableCollection. How can I add a large amount of ViewModels without making the UI Thread hang? I suppose the UI Thread hangs because each time a new item is added the ItemsControl needs to update itself and does layout etc. over and over again. Should I suspend the binding add all items and then resume? If so, how? Should I override the ObservableCollection to implement an AddRange so only 1 CollectionChanged Event is fired for adding multiple items? Or alternatively just replace the whole collection? Or is it better to add each items separately and call Dispatcher.Invoke for each item separately? So I would unblock frequently. How do you handle large dynamic lists that can not be virtualized?

• Cascading dropdownlist jQuery does not retain value on post back.

  I have two html select server control on an add data form page. the user selects a value in the first html select server control and then values are populated into the second html select server control with jquery. The problem is when a a user clicks the save button and the page posts back, the values are no longer in the drop down list populated by jQuery. The drop downlist is a html server control, shouldn't it retain the values on post-back? • Easy GWT Animations

  I've started looking at some external GWT libraries for animations, but they all seemd a bit overkill for what i want. I'm trying to mimic JQuery Tools scrollabel plugin in GWT for a scrolling navigation (think iphone). User clicks an item, page scrolls to the child panel of that item, which may also have children that can be clicked. All I need to do is slide a div, x number of pixels backwards and forwards over some fixed rate of time The only real tutorial i've found on writing animations in GWT is 2 years old and seems a bit verbose, (managing individual frames etc...) Is there no simpler solution for easily moving a div from one position to another without requiring all the extra cruft? Forgive me but I'm coming from jQuery coding that has this built in simply and easily.

• Navigation (controller) in Tabbar (c) in Navigation (c) (iphone)

  I want to have a TabBar controller inside a navigation controller. So that when an item is selected on the first Navigation Controller it pushes the TabBar into view. Inside this tabbar on the first tab is another navigation controller. However I only want one navigation bar. I've come up with 2 ways but not sure which way is better (Ie more acceptable etc)? 1) The first navigation controller isn't actually a navigation controller but to the user it looks like one. So when a cell is selected on it's table view the first navC's view is removed from the superview and the TabBarC's view is added, animation would have to be done manually. 2)The first NavC is actually a NavC and when an item is selected and the TabBar is pushed on to the screen the first NavC's navigationbar is hidden so that the first tab's navigationBar is the only nav bar on screen.

  Hi, I have a data class with some fields, one is a URL that I consider the PK, if I add a new item (do a new sync) and save it it should overwrite the item in the database if it's the same URL. • WPF MenuItem ViewModel Command

  Hi, I am fairly new to WPF and am struggling a little with a scenario. I have a menu which has menu items. When one of these menu items gets clicked a method needs to be called that will do something based upon the text displayed associated with that menu item. So for example, the menu item's content was "test" so I would need to do something with "test". FYI, this "something" directly affects a collection on the ViewModel. This is easy to achieve using the click event and no ViewModel, but I was trying to implement MVVM using an explicit ViewModel. So I started to look into Commands but cannot see how I would pass anything from the View back into the Command in the ViewModel. Any suggestions on what I should be doing here? Thanks
