  • 3ware RAID in Windows 7

    Just moved a 3ware 9500S-8 raid card and a few drives from my linux box into my win7 box. Windows Updates picked up the 3ware driver and installed it. After a reboot I checked Disk Management and it shows the array as one solid drive with the correct size. The only issue is that its not assigned a drive letter and when I right click on it my only option is to Convert to Dynamic Disk... From what I've read this is not something I want to do. What are my options?

  • configure pppoe on wrt54gl(openwrt)

    Hi, I have home DSL connection from my ISP with a beetel modem at my end. I want to make my network wireless, so i bought a linksys wrt54gl and installed open-wrt on it. My ISP provides dynamic IP's with me connecting via pppoe. My question is how do I configure openwrt to work with this. Please suggest what option should I go with, or any other you recommend. DSL cable--Beetel Modem-- Wrt54gl in bridge mode with beetel modem doing the pppoe and having a DHCP server. DSL cable--Wrt54gl with wrt54gl handling the pppoe. Is option 2 possible, can I have a setup without bringing the beetel modem in the picture at all?

  • How do I create a custom python interpreter? i.e. with certain modules already included?

    If you've used Ruby on Rails, I'm thinking of the feature where the user types 'rails console' and instantly gets a Ruby console with rails and the current app already loaded. I want to make something like this for a python program I'm working on, does anyone know how I would get to type say, 'python myPythonConsole.py' and open up a regular python interpreter but with my program and all its dependencies loaded?

  • Need help receiving ByteArray data

    Hi folks, I am trying to receive byte array data from a machine. It sends out 3 different types of data structure each with different number of fields which consist of mostly int and a few floats, and byte sizes, the first being 320 bytes, 420 for the second type and 560 for the third. When the sending program is launched, it fires all 3 types of data simultaneouly with an interval of 1 sec. Example: Sending order: Pack1 - 320 bytes 1 sec later Pack2 - 420 bytes 1 sec later Pack3 - 560 bytes 1 sec later Pack1 - 320 bytes ... .. . How do I check the incoming byte size before passing it to: byte[] handsize = new byte[bytesize]; as the data I receive are all out of order, for instance using the following the read all int: System.out.println("Reading data in int format:" + " " + datainput.readInt()); I get many different sets of values whenever I run my prog although with some valid field data but they are all over the place. I am not too sure how exactly should I do it but I tried the following and apparently my data fields are not receiving in correct sequence: BufferedInputStream bais = new BufferedInputStream(requestSocket.getInputStream()); DataInputStream datainput = new DataInputStream(bais); byte[] handsize = new byte[560]; datainput.readFully(handsize); int n = 0; int intByte[] = new int[140]; for (int i = 0; i < 140 ; i++) { System.out.println("Reading data in int format:" + " " + datainput.readInt()); intByte[n] = datainput.readInt(); n = n + 1; System.out.println("The value in array is:" + intByte[0]); System.out.println("The value in array is:" + intByte[1]); System.out.println("The value in array is:" + intByte[2]); System.out.println("The value in array is:" + intByte[3]); Also from the above code, the order of the values printed out with System.out.println("Reading data in int format:" + " " + datainput.readInt()); and System.out.println("The value in array is:" + intByte[0]); System.out.println("The value in array is:" + intByte[1]); are different.   • cannot load windows media within firefox browser

    Hi all, I recently re-installed windows and everything on it and besides this one issue everything is working much smoother again... the only problem is that I cannot load windows media content (for example *.asx) within my firefox browser. If i go to a page which embeds such streaming media, the media player never loads, and if i type the full url to the asx in the address bar, nothing loads. I have "Windows Media Player Plug-in Dynamic Link Library 3.0.2.629" in my plugin list. what might i have broken? cheers, p.

  • Convincing Management to use WCF

    Hi All, I asked another question, stating that the I am unable to use WCF in a new Web Service project and have come to see that it seems to be the technology to use in regards to extensibility and security. My question is a simple one: How can I persuade management (and developers for that matter) to move over to using WCF as opposed to other web service technologies (ASMX/CFC)?   • ContactsContract.CommonDataKinds.Relation does not show in Contacts app

    I programatically added almost every type of contact field to a contact and they all work except for Relation. Relation types get added to the contacts database, but they don't show up in the Contacts app. I don't see a way to add Relation information through the Contacts GUI for a standard Gmail contact either. Does the Contacts app just not support this data type?

  • Understanding this error: apr_socket_recv: Connection reset by peer (104)

    So, if I do some benchmarking with apache benchmark (ab), and I use large numbers of requests. Then sometimes in the middle of a test I get this error. I don't even know what it means. So how can I fix it? Or is it just something that will happen if the server gets too many hits anyway? The problem is, if I run 10,000 hits, it'll all run perfectly. If I run it again, it'll get to 4000 and get the error: apr_socket_recv: Connection reset by peer (104) A little about my setup: I have nginx taking static requests and processing dynamic ones to apache. The file in question is served from cache by nginx, so I guess it's probably got to do with how nginx is handling the requests? Ideas?

    From what I read so far, it sounds like these StringComparison types are meant to differ in how they do sorting of strings, if so, does that mean that it does'nt matter which StringComparison you use when doing an equality comparison? string.Equals(a, b, StringComparison....) Extra credit: does it make a difference to the answer if we compare OrdinalIgnoreCase and InvariantCultureIgnoreCase? What is the answer then? Please provide supporting argument and/or references.

    parsec-3.1.0 ( http://hackage.haskell.org/package/parsec-3.1.0 ) works with any token type. However there are combinators like Text.Parsec.Char.satisfy that are only defined for Char datatype. There doesn't seem to be any more general counterpart available. Should I define my own versions or did I miss something? Perhaps there are different parser libraries in Haskell that allows: custom token types custom parser state (I need to parse stateful format - Wavefront OBJ)

  • Setting alias for DynDNS domain

    Hey all, I've created DynDNS domain for testing my local sites, and i'm having trouble with pointing to root domain. From my registrar (GoDaddy) I've created a CNAME for www to point my example.dyndns.com so going to url www.example.com I'm reaching my site. But if I'm going to example.com I'm reaching to the IP of the A record. I can't set the IP for the A record to be my IP because I have dynamic IP, and it changes constatly, and I can't point the A record to domain, only IP. When trying to create CNAME record @ to point example.dyndns.com I'm getting error "A record of a different type exists for the hostname @, could not create CNAME" The only record using the '@' host are NS record, which I can't delete, and when tried to set another NS record with @ point to example.dyndns.com, I've lost connection to my site :) So what can I do to get example.com url reach my site?   • Restoring factory image of HP Laptop

    I use a HP G62. I am unable to use my recovery disk to restore to factory settings. I had no problems earlier until I created an additional partition which I hear might have changed my hard disk to dynamic. How do I get back to 'normal'? I don't mind formatting the disk. I just want my factory OS back. .............. i get an error message at about 69 percent telling me that the restoration process failed. I'm using the factory image disks i created using the hp recovery manager. I have tried formating the hard drive clean and then restoring woth the cd, it didn't work. I was always able to restore before i created that partition.

    I spoke with my host supporter to find what is my sql hostname. He said that the only way is add permissions in mysql remote (cpanel) to my actual ip. So the config in heidiSQL for example will be localhost userxxx passxxx But i have a dynamic ip, so i need to change the permissions every time, correct? Add the flag % probably is not a good idea, so how can I solve this problem? Why I dont have something like mysql.something.com ? Sorry, if this question is too basic.

  • Should websites live in /var/ or /usr/ according to recommended usage?

    According to a guide on the Linux directory structure, /usr/ is for application files, and /var/ is for files that change (I assume this means "files that belong to the applications"). Is this correct? If this is the case then I'm a little torn between using either. A website is an application (if it's dynamic, so to speak), but in other cases it is just a collection of files used by Apache. The default www dir lives in /var/www/, so should we follow suit by using /var/websites/ (or something similar), or choose /usr/websites/ since they could be applications? This is a very trivial question, but it's bugging me nonetheless. For our case, I'm leaning toward /usr/web or something like that, since our websites are all applications. Update: This is for our company websites; it's not a shared hosting server, so we don't need to worry about separating them in /home/ or anything like that.

  • Can I completely remove the Windows DNS in favour of BIND9 in an AD network?

    I would like to remove the DNS feature of Windows Domain Controllers and point the DNS servers to our BIND9 servers. I know it's possible to setup coexistence but this requires a number of extra Windows DNS Servers equals to the number of Domain Controllers in the network. Active Directory expects the _msdcs zone and other things like _tcp, _udp; etc. The main question is: how to make BIND9 takes care of all this AD specific data? And with dynamic updating to make AD even more happier. Thanks, PS: Making BIND9 points to the Windows DNS Servers to resolve the Active Directory specific zones isn't an option. We already do this... EDIT: As today, I'm running without Windows DNS. I'm writing up a guide on how to do this, and I'll update this topic.

    We're running a fairly large site using nginx and PHP-FPM and we're getting a lot of errors as the site load is quite high.   • How are integers casted to bytes in Java?

    I know Java doesn't allow unsigned types, so I was wondering how it casts an integer to a byte. Say I have an integer a with a value of 255 and I cast the integer to a byte. Is the value represented in the byte 11111111? In other words, is the value treated more as a signed 8 bit integer, or does it just directly copy the last 8 bits of the integer? Thanks, helixed

  • How to configure LAN IP Filter on Huawei E586 UMTS Modem

    I need to prevent clients of an Huawei E586 UMTS to WiFi modem from downloading much data from specific servers eg. Windows update or OSX update. On the config page of the device there's an "LAN IP Filter" which seems pretty good but I can't figure out the right settings. The mask looks like this: The help pages states the following: My problem with this is, I want some wildcard for the local ip and port. In my opinion the help page can not be correct by "lan port: enter 80" because the source port is normally dynamic. I tried to set it up like stated there but as expected it doesn't work. As wildcards I tried * and "ALL" but nothing worked as it prevents me from saving settings with an "wrong value" error. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

  • TArray<Byte> VS TBytes VS PByteArray

    Those 3 types are very similar... TArray is the generic version of TBytes. Both can be casted to PByteArray and used as buffer for calls to Windows API. (with the same restrictions as string to Pchar). What I would like to know: Is this behavior "by design" or "By Implementation". Or more specifically, could it break in future release?
