• One repository/multiple projects without getting mixed up?

  Hello After reading Joel's last article on Mercurial, I'm giving it a shot on XP as a single-user, single-computer source control system. One thing I'd like to check, though, is: It'd be easier to just create a repository of all the tiny projects I keep in eg. C:\VB.Net\, but the result is that the changes I make to the different projects therein (C:\VB.Net\ProjectA\, C:\VB.Net\ProjectB\, etc.) will be mixed in a single changelog. But if I use a single repository for all projects, when I do diff's or go through the change history, will I be able to filter data so that I only see changes pertaining to a given project? Otherwise, is creating repositories in each project directory the only solution? Thank you.

  I'm learning drawing lines with Java Swing in order to draw a labyrinth. I can draw one line at a specified position and it shows just fine. • Python, Matplotlib, subplot: How to set the axis range?

  How can I set the y axis range of the second subplot to e.g. [0,1000] ? The FFT plot of my data (a column in a text file) results in a (inf.?) spike so that the actual data is not visible. pylab.ylim([0,1000]) has no effect, unfortunately.   So I'm having a very strange error right now. I found where it happens, and here's the simplest code that can reproduce it. def parse_ops(str_in): c_type = "operator" def c_dat_check_type(t): print c_type #c_type = t c_dat_check_type("number") >>> parse_ops("12+a*2.5") If you run it as-is, it prints "operator". The reason I ask is because I have a fairly intensive render type process to run for each message (potentially many thousands).   If i try to read a CSV file called csv_file.csv. The problem is that when i read lines with BufferedReader.readLine() it skips the first line with months. But when i rename the file to csv_file.txt it reads it allright and it's not skipping the first line. Is there an undocumented "feature" of BufferedReader that i'm not aware?   I've a problem about whitespaces and new lines at the beginning of a textarea. I send a json string with ajax to the php script. Then I decode the string into an php array (with json_decode). So I have a string in this array with two line breaks at the beginning. If a print the text from the array, the line breaks are there, but if I store the text into the mysql database, the line breaks are gone... Only at the beginning of the string, the line breaks gone... At the rest of the string, the line breaks are ok. Thanks for your answers! rob

  I'm attempting to initialise a string variable in C++, and the value is so long that it's going to exceed the 80 character per line limit I'm working to, so I'd like to split it to the next line, but I'm not sure how to do that. I know that when splitting the contents of a stream across multiple lines, the syntax goes like cout << "This is a string" << "This is another string"; Is there an equivalent for variable assignment, or do I have to declare multiple variables and concatenate them? Edit: I misspoke when I wrote the initial question. When I say 'next line', I'm just meaning the next line of the script. When it is printed upon execution, I would like it to be on the same line.

  I have the following lexer rules in my grammar file: LINE : 'F' | 'G'; RULE : (('->' ('F' | 'G')) => 'F' | 'G' ) | LINE LINE + | LINE * (ROTATE + LINE+)+ ; fragment ROTATE : ('/' | '\\'); I'm basically trying to match productions that look like F - F/F\F\F/F. It successfully matches stuff like the above, but I'm guessing there's a problem with my syntactic predicate, since G - G produces a MismatchedTokenException. The predicate serves to disambiguate between single letters on the lhs of '-', which I want to be recognized as the LINE token, and those on the rhs, which should be RULEs. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

• Why is simulink data type conversion block altering the data when it should be typecasting?

  I am attempting to typecast some data from int32 to single. I first tried using the 'Data Type Conversion' block with single output data type and the Stored Integer option. However, I found that the datatype conversion block is not typecasting the data the way I expect it to. Am I using the block incorrectly, or is it failing to work as it should? temp1 (pre conversion): uint32: 1405695244 single: 1728356810752.000000 binary: 01010011110010010011010100001100 temp2 (post conversion): uint32: 1319604842 single: 1405695232.000000 binary: 01001110101001111001001001101010 By the way, I have gotten around the issue by using an embedded Matlab block to perform the typecasting operation.

• Syntax Highlighting in a ListBox

  Hi all, I've searched the web and I can't seem to find anything that will work for me. I've seen plenty of discussion, and even some fairly extensible open-source tools, for code editors that provide line numbers and syntax highlighting. Here's my dilemma... I'm working on a "digital code review" project in C#.NET that allows users to specify source files, add them to a particular session, and other users can make comments and line references to the files being reviewed. Basic requirements: Must be written in C#.NET I don't need to be able to edit the text in the text box Users need to be able to select a line (or multiple lines), to make line references. It seems to me that I need some fancy implementation of a ListBox control (not a drop-down list) that has some OwnerDraw capabilities to add line numbers and syntax highlighting. Unfortunately, I haven't had any luck putting it together myself, and I can't seem to find a control that's already been written or a reference on how I might be able to accomplish this. Any suggestions??

• Populate JOIN into a list in one database query

  I am trying to get the records from the 'many' table of a one-to-many relationship and add them as a list to the relevant record from the 'one' table. I am also trying to do this in a single database request. Code derived from http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1580199/linq-to-sql-populate-join-result-into-a-list almost achieves the intended result, but makes one database request per entry in the 'one' table which is unacceptable. That failing code is here: var res = from variable in _dc.GetTable<VARIABLE>() select new { x = variable, y = variable.VARIABLE_VALUEs }; However if I do a similar query but loop through all the results, then only a single database request is made. This code achieves all goals: var res = from variable in _dc.GetTable<VARIABLE>() select variable; List<GDO.Variable> output = new List<GDO.Variable>(); foreach (var v2 in res) { List<GDO.VariableValue> values = new List<GDO.VariableValue>(); foreach (var vv in v2.VARIABLE_VALUEs) { values.Add(VariableValue.EntityToGDO(vv)); } output.Add(EntityToGDO(v2)); output[output.Count - 1].VariableValues = values; } However the latter code is ugly as hell, and it really feels like something that should be do-able in a single linq query.
