• How to extract a specific input field value from external webpage using Javascript

  Hi, i get the webpage content from an external website using ajax but now i want a function which extract a specific input field value which is already autofilled. the webpage content is like this: ......... <input name="fullname" id="fullname" size="20" value="David Smith" type="text"> <input name="age" id="age" size="2" value="32" type="text"> <input name="income" id="income" size="20" value="22000$" type="text"> ......... I only want to get the value of fullname, maybe with some javascript regex, or some jQuery dom parser, i know i can do it easily with php but i want it using Javascript or jQuery. Note: this inputs are not hosted in my page, they are just pulled from other website through Ajax. Thanks

  Hi, I have an entity A with fields: aId (the system id) bId I want the first to be generated: @Id @Column(name = "PRODUCT_ID", unique = true, nullable = false, precision = 12, scale = 0) @GeneratedValue(strategy = GenerationType.SEQUENCE, generator = "PROD_GEN") @BusinessKey public Long getAId() { return this.aId; } I want the bId to be initially exactly as the aId. One approach is to insert the entity, then get the aId generated by the DB (2nd query) and then update the entity, setting the bId to be equal to aId (3rd query). Is there a way to get the bId to get the same generated value as aId? Note that afterwards, I want to be able to update bId from my gui. If the solution is JPA, even better.

Now that I have a better understanding of the different frameworks, I have a very simple question: With a basic understanding, but very limited experience with writing tests with rails' built in testing framework (basic assertions), would it be okay for me to jump directly to testing with RSpec, Webrat, and Cucumber? • Why does dojo parsing time depend on css and images availability?

  I have been profiling javascript on my page that uses dojo widgets. I don't use explicit parsing - the parser runs on page load. What I noticed is that if I clear browser cache before refreshing the page, dojo parsing takes much more time than if all the files are already cached. Note that we build all the required dojo modules into a layer (a single file), so we don't lazy-load any js files. I wonder if dojo parsing process depends on images and css resources, as far as I know it only instantiates widgets and injects dom nodes. Do you have any ideas why dojo parser runs longer (2-3 times longer in my case) when the cache is cleared?

• Is the UIDatePicker really the best iPhone UI mechanism for selecting dates?

  Hello! I'm diving into iPhone/iPad development and I'm trying to find an elegant mechanism for allowing the user to select dates. It seems to me that a calendar control would be the best way to go, but I don't see one in anywhere in the SDK. All all I see is this overblown, the-price-is-right-looking DatePicker control. Is this the only control that comes with UIKit for allowing the user to select dates? What about the calendar that the Notes app uses? Also, I should note I'm really trying to avoid using 3rd party code frameworks that have little or no documentation, because I'm new to all this and sufficient documentation is a must at this point.   I have a query SELECT assetid, type_code, version, name, short_name, status, languages, charset, force_secure, created, created_userid, updated, updated_userid, published, published_userid, status_changed, status_changed_userid FROM sq_ast WHERE assetid = 7 which doesn't work and throws ERROR: operator does not exist: character varying = integer LINE 4: FROM sq_ast WHERE assetid = 7 I can get it to work by doing SELECT assetid, type_code, version, name, short_name, status, languages, charset, force_secure, created, created_userid, updated, updated_userid, published, published_userid, status_changed, status_changed_userid FROM sq_ast WHERE assetid = '7' Please note the quoting of the 7 in the WHERE clause... I am deploying an huge application and I cannot rewrite the core... similarly I don't want to risk changing the type of the column... I'm no Postgres expert... please help... Is there an option for strict casting of columns???

  I have a figure in LaTeX with a caption to which I need to add a formula (equation* or displaymath environments). That time problem was resolved himself (without any actions from my side, with Visual Studio restart). At the moment, I had the same problem on another PC (Vista x64, VS2008, Silverlight 3.0, RIA Services Toolkit): ThomasDomainContext class that inherits DomainContext was not visible from the page's codebehind file. Again, it was resolved after VS restart and after that I got another problem: Error 1 'VfmElita.Web.ClientBin.ThomasDomainContext' does not contain a definition for 'employee' and no extension method 'employee' accepting a first argument of type 'VfmElita.Web.ClientBin.ThomasDomainContext' could be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) D:\Project\Budda\VFMElita\VfmElitaSilverlightClient\MainPage.xaml.cs for the following lines of code (error is noticed for the 31st line): 30: var context = new ThomasDomainContext(); 31: grid1.ItemsSource = context.employee; 32: context.Load(context.GetEmployeeQuery()); Any help is welcome. • ls output changing when used through exec()

  I'm using the ls command via PHP and exec() and I get a different output than when I run the same command via the shell. When running ls through PHP the year and month of the date get changed into the month name: Running the command through the shell: $ ls -lh /path/to/file -rw-r--r-- 1 sysadmin sysadmin 36M 2011-05-18 13:25 file Running the command via PHP: <?php exec("ls -lh /path/to/file", $output); print_r($output); /* Array ( [0] => -rw-r--r-- 1 sysadmin sysadmin 36M May 18 13:25 file ) */ Please note that: -the issue doesn't occur when I run the PHP script via the cli (it only occurs when run through apache) -I checked the source code of the page to make sure that what I was seeing was what I was getting (and I do get the month name instead of the proper date) -I also run the ls command through the shell as the www-data user to see if ls was giving different output depending on the user (the output is the always the same from the shell, that is I get the date in yyyy-mm-dd instead of the month name)

• Linux, how to capture screen, and simulate mouse movements.

  Hi All I need to capture screen (as print screen) in the way so I can access pixel color data, to do some image recognition, after that I will need to generate mouse events on the screen such as left click, drag and drop (moving mouse while button is pressed, and then release it). Once its done, image will be deleted. Note: I need to capture whole screen everything that user can see, and I need to simulate clicks outside window of my program (if it makes any difference) Spec: Linux ubuntu Language: C++ Performance is not very important,"print screen" function will be executed once every ~10 sec. Duration of the process can be up to 24 hours so method needs to be stable and memory leaks free (as usuall :) I was able to do in windows with win GDI and some windows events, but I'ev no idea how to do it in Linux. Basically, whenever I try to send an email with BCCs via SMTP the BCC addresses are not hidden - I've read the whole RFC for the SMTP protocol (a couple years ago) and I don't think I'm missing anything. The strange thing is, if I send an email with BCCs using the built-in mail() function everything works just right and I've no idea why - I would like to roll my own email sender but I fail to understand this. Can someone please shed some light into this dark subject?

• Structuring System Architecture in a Flex Web Application on a Budget (w/o Java)

  I started a project a while back using the following architecture from Adobe Developer Article talking about Creating marketing platforms in Flex. I did my first set of coding locally forgetting that my server did not handle Tomcat. So I said okay, and cut some corners and then some other limitation came up and I cut some more corners. Eventually for a good week or two, it was trying to get the project working with making the ends meet. Layers started to merge. In the end I used a PureMVC (Presentation/Client) - ZendAMF (Communication) - MySql (Data) Layout. It worked but I never felt as though I had some layer just to take care of all the SQL calls to the data.It just felt hacked together So should I keep the above setup and just start from the presentation layer and move downwards like they said in the article or is there a better layering (based on a hosting plan that does not handle Java) I could accomplish ? NOTE: I would just ask the adobe guys but they barely reply on their site. Thanks !

  Hi all, Mac OS 10.6, Cocoa project, 10.4 compatibility required. (Please note: my knowledge of regex is quite slight) I need to parse NSStrings, for matching cases where the string contains an embedded tag, where the tag format is: [xxxx] Where xxxx are random characters. e.g. "The quick brown [foxy] fox likes sox". In the above case, I need to grab the string "foxy". (Or nil if no tag is found.) Each string will only have one tag, and the tag can appear anywhere within the string, or may not appear at all. Could someone please help with a way to do that, preferably without having to include another library such as RegexKit. Thank you for any help.

• How well do (D)VCS cooperate with workflows involving several people editing files in the same direc

  Imagine because of tradition that your team's preferred development method involved several people with a shared login, editing files on a build server using vim. [Note that there are well known issues to do with only one person being able to edit a file at once, people going away from their desk and leaving the file locked in vim, system builds/restarts requiring everybody to stop debugging while this occurs. This is not what the question is about] If source control was to be introduced without changing the workflow, would there be much benefit? I am guessing that the commit history won't be much use as it will contain all changes by everybody in big lumps. So it wouldn't really be possible to rewind individual changes apart from at a really big level.

• Custom editor in QAbstractTableModel

  Does anyone have an example of using a QWidget as an editor in a QAbstractTableModel? I have a column which when edited should create a QCombobox with the list of choices. The docs seem to suggest I need to write a QAbstractItemDelegate and a custom paint function but that seems overkill to simply pop-up a standard QCombobox in Qt::EditRole. Note - the combo box contents are the same for every row and it only needs to be shown when somebody clicks in the cell. I know this should be simple but I can't get it to work. It's easy for a QTableWidget based table - but I need it for a very large data table.

• How can I allow text to wrap inside a word if necessary?

  I am looking for the best solution to allow text to wrap in the middle of a word if necessary. By best, I mean most browser-compatible, and will favor word breaks before it breaks inside a word. It would also help if the markup looked nicer than mine (see my answer). Edit: Note this is specifically for user-generated content. Edit 2: About 25% of Firefox users on the site in question are still using v3.0 or below, so it is critical to support them. This is based on the last month worth of data (about 121,000 visits).

• Simple string encryption in .NET and Javascript

  I'm developing an ASP.NET MVC application in which I want to encrypt a short string on the server, using C#, and send it to the client-side. Then on the client-side it will be decrypted through Javascript code. Any thoughts on how to implement this? Do you know of a simple encryption algorithm (doesn't have to be bullet-proof secure) that can be easily translated from C# to Javascript or vice-versa? NOTE: I could do this entirely in C# and do the decryption through Ajax, but I'd prefer not to do it this way, as I want to reduce website traffic as much as possible.

• .NET Framework - Possible memory-leaky classes?

  Just the other day I was investigating a memory leak that was ballooning the app from ~50MB to ~130MB in under two minutes. Turns out that the problem was with the ConcurrentQueue class. Internally, the class stores a linked list of arrays. When an item is dequeued from the ConcurrentQueue, the index in the array is bumped, but the item remains in the array (i.e. it's not set to null). The entire array node is dropped after enough enqueues/dequeues, so it's not technically a leak, but if storing only a few large objects in the ConcurrentQueue, this can get out of hand fast. The documentation makes no note of this danger. I was wondering what other potential memory pitfalls are in the Base Class Library? I know about the Substring one (that is, if you call substring and just hold onto the result, the whole string will still be in memory). Any others you've encountered?

• Perl, efficient parsing of csv file

  I'm working on a project that involves parsing a large csv formatted file in Perl and am looking to make things more efficient. My approach has been to split() the file by lines first, and then split() each line again by commas to get the fields. But this suboptimal since at least two passes on the data are required. (once to split by lines, then once again for each line). This is a very large file, so cutting processing in half would be a significant improvement to the entire application. My question is, what is the most time efficient means of parsing a large CSV file using only built in tools? note: Each line has a varying number of tokens, so we can't just ignore lines and split by commas only. Also we can assume fields will contain only alphanumeric ascii data (no special characters or other tricks). Also, i don't want to get into parallel processing, although that might work effectively.

Here's my test string: <div id="div0" class="myclass">here's some text that may include whitespace</div><div id="div1" class="myclass"> and some more here </div> And here's my regex based on the aforementioned entry: <div[^>]*class="myclass">[^~]*?<\/div> Note that I need to match the first instance of <div /> with class of "myclass."
