• Problems creating a debdiff

  I'm following this guide to create a debdiff for a package I'm patching. Everything goes fine until step number 8 and I attempt to create the debdiff after committing the changes. The package in question is Zim, pulled form Launchpad using bzr branch lp:zim and according to this guide I should execute the following command to create the debdiff: debdiff zim_0.49.dsc zim_0.49ubuntu1.dsc > zim_0.49ubuntu1.debdiff however, when I actually try to execute this command, I get the following error: debdiff: fatal error at line 314: Can't read file: zim_0.49.dsc Upon inspection of the directory in which the files created from debuild -S (step 6) are deposited, I find zim_0.49ubuntu1_source.changes zim_0.49ubuntu1.dsc zim_0.49ubuntu1.tar.gz zim_0.49ubuntu1_source.build but no sign of zim_0.49.dsc. I could probably create one by debuilding the package as soon as I check out the code, before starting work, but that would add an extraneous entry in the changelog. Is there a step missing from the guide that creates zim_0.49.dsc or is the file itself missing from the source?

• Always disable the 8.3 name creation on Windows before installing WebCenter Content or WebLogic Server

  You should always disable the 8.3 name creation feature when installing WebCenter Content on a Windows platform. The installs will normally work without it disabled, but you will find the weird 8.3 file and directory names in all the config files. Disabling it can also improve performance. On Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 and above you can do it with this command: fsutil.exe behavior set disable8dot3 1 To make sure it is disabled you can run this command to check: fsutil.exe behavior query disable8dot3 If the 8.3 file name creation is disabled you will see the following output from the command: The registry state of NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation is 1 (Disable 8dot3 name creation on all volumes). Do i have to check "i want to track dynamic pages" and "i want to track php pages"? Do these options provide me better results or they are necessary for a dynamic site based on php like joomla? MySymbol_design or assets.MySymbol_design), do not change the base class (ie. flash.display.MovieClip). Right now, I am stuck at that part. Any hints? What I wish to do is: Use fla for the artist to store assets. Publish to swc Extract the assets in FlashDevelop by creating an instance of their class. ... How is this done in CS6? • What should my "code sample" look like?

  I've just had quite a good phone interview (for a CakePHP-related position, not that it's especially important to the question). The interviewer seemed to be impressed with my resume and personality. At the end, though, he asked me to email him a code sample from my existing work project, "to check you're not secretly a terrible programmer, ha ha!" I'm not too worried that my code can't stand on its own two feet, but I'm very much an intermediate programmer rather than an expert. What obvious pitfalls should I make sure my code sample doesn't fall into, in case they rule me out on the spot? Secondly, and this is probably the harder part of the question to answer, what features in a code sample would be so impressive that they would instantly make you much more favourably inclined towards the programmer? • Google analytics goal funnel visualization issues

  This is the goal funnel for checkout. Does anyone have any idea where the "/" is coming from? The cart page is at site: game on glove dot com (I don't want this stackoverflow page being indexed in google particularly well). Go to the site, click on the order button, make your selection, and click the button to enter the cart (it resolves to /Cart and /Shop-Cart). I believe I used the regular expression matching to match "cart". So why the "/" (I don't know what is causing the home page to reload when users are on the Cart page within a Colorbox lightbox where the only way back to home or "/" is to hit the exit button in the top right of the lightbox)? Here's my one guess for the former question but it doesn't seem likely: See the "check out with paypal" button? If you hovered over it, it does default to the home page which is what might be the "/"... but it really redirects the user to the paypal.com page so it shouldn't also load the home page.

• Daylight saving time: Annoying and pointless [closed]

  Daylight saving time is a big annoyance for me. Not just from the standpoint, that I never know when we set our clocks an hour ahead or an hour back. Setting the clock ahead or back disturbs my time organization, and is responsible for my bad mood around that day. From the standpoint of a programmer, it's no less annoying. you always have to check whether it isn't "that date" in the year, when you have to work with local time. I hear people have the same views on this that I have. also, I don't see any benefits from it. The supposedly added "extra hour" of sunlight; I don't feel that. In case you live in a region where daylight savings is observed (like in Germany, where I live), please tell me how you manage the annoyances that come with it, and (if possible) how to get rid of it, once and for all...

  I'm trying to add windows 7 for my new 12.10 grub bootloader. None of the things worked out; such as .. copying bootx64.efi methods, I'm getting this output: grub-probe --target=fs_uuid /boot/efi/EFI/Microsoft/Boot/bootmgfw.efi grub-probe: error: cannot find a GRUB drive for /dev/sda1. Check your device.map. ....... my device map ....... (hd0) /dev/disk/by-id/ata-WDC_WD6400BPVT-55HXZT3_WD-WXD1EA1MSVR4 ....... 40_custom ..... menuentry "Microsoft Windows x86_64 UEFI-GPT" { insmod part_gpt insmod fat insmod search_fs_uuid insmod chain search --fs-uuid --no-floppy --set=root 80BD-E086 chainloader (${root})/efi/Microsoft/Boot/bootmgfw.efi } When booting to windows 7 give me blank black screen with a cursor blinks for 2 seconds then reboot, I've tried boot-repair too. I think I'm missing Windows UEFI Bootloader files.

• How can I test if my rotated rectangle intersects a corner?

  I have a square, tile-based collision map. To check if one of my (square) entities is colliding, I get the vertices of the 4 corners, and test those 4 points against my collision map. If none of those points are intersecting, I know I'm good to move to the new position. I'd like to allow entities to rotate. I can still calculate the 4 corners of the square, but once you factor in rotation, those 4 corners alone don't seem to be enough information to determine if the entity is trying to move to a valid state. For example: In the picture below, black is unwalkable terrain, and red is the player's hitbox. The left scenario is allowed because the 4 corners of the red square are not in the black terrain. The right scenario would also be (incorrectly) allowed, because the player, cleverly turned at a 45* angle, has its corners in valid spaces, even if it is (quite literally) cutting the corner. How can I detect scenarios similar to the situation on the right?

• How to move Objects smoothly like swimming arround

  I have a Box2D project that is about to create a view where the user looks from the Sky onto Water. Or perhaps on a bathtub filled with water or something like this. The Object which holds the fluid actually does not matter, what matters is the movement of the bodies, because they should move like drops of grease on a soup, or wood on water, I can even imagine the the fluid is mercurial, extreme heavy and "lazy". How can I manipulate the bodies (every frame or time by time) to make them move like this? I started with randomly manipulation their linear velocity, but I turned out that this not very smooth and looks quite hard. Is it a better idea to check their velocity and apply impulses?   I am building up a rails application that I cloned from my friend. I am using Ubuntu 13.10, rails 3.2.14. I am using a postgresql database and when I try to run rake db:migrate it gives me some error like this: PG::UndefinedObject: ERROR: type "json" does not exist LINE 1: ALTER TABLE "filters" ADD COLUMN "search_string" json I installed pg version :- 9.3.1 but my friend is working on 9.2.4 I don't know why this error is occurring, I tried several times to downgrade using purge or remove commands to remove 9.3.1 all goes well but when I check psql --version it again shows me 9.3.1 . Any solution ???

  Wanted to hear what others thought about this statement: I’ll contrast that with building a website. When rendering web pages, often you have very many components interacting on a web page. You have buttons over here and little widgets over there and there are dozens of them on a webpage, as well as possibly dozens or hundreds of web pages on your website that are all dynamic. With a system with a really large surface area like that, using a statically typed language is actually quite inflexible. I would find it painful probably to program in Scala and render a web page with it, when I want to interactively push around buttons and what-not. If the whole system has to be coherent, like the whole system has to type check just to be able to move a button around, I think that can be really inflexible. • Assigning a DLL strong name

  Hi Guys, few days back I needed to install few DLL  assemblies to GAC, since I hardly knew about this topic, so googled on the internet and here is what I learned; There is a utility named ‘gacutil.exe’ which is delivered with Visual studio and .NET framework ( search in your PC for gacutil.exe) or you can also download  from internet. Before installing the DLL to GAC , ensure that the DLL you want to install has a strong name. To assign a strong name follow these steps::   1) Open the visual studio and open your C# project 2) Right click on the project/Solution and click on properties. 3) Click on the ‘Signing’ tab 4) Select the check box Sign the assembly and select a strong key file . 5) You can also create a new key file by selecting new, click on new to create a key file, provide the name of the file and password 6) Now build your solution, the dll file generated has a strong name.
