    I am trying to create an ant task to compile JSPs.   • nginx with stub_status.. need help with nginx.conf

    Hello I am trying to setup nginx with stub status so I can monitor nginx requests etc.. with serverdensity.com. I needed to put something like this in nginx.conf server { listen 82.113.147.xxx; location /nginx_status { stub_status on; access_log off; allow 82.113.147.xxx; deny all; } } And with this monitoring acctualy works. However It seems I lost "include" part in my nginx.conf and now none of vhosts in sites-enabled work.     I am using JBOSS 5.1.0.GA, MySQL 5.5 and Hibernate 3.3.1 GA (included with JBOSS) + Spring. My question is do I need to add c3p0 as a data source in my spring/hibernate configuration for connection pooling or are the setting in the JBOSS mysql-ds.xml setting enough.   • Tell Tomcat to drop requests instead of dying "All threads (150) are currently busy"

    My Tomcat 6.0.26 sometimes dies saying: SEVERE: All threads (150) are currently busy, waiting. Increase maxThreads (150) or check the servlet status ... then Tomcat shuts down, and users can't access the webapp until I restart Tomcat manually. Some of the threads indeed take a long time to execute, it is by-design, not a thread-gone-wild problem. I know I could increase maxThreads, but that is not a viable solution, because the server might receive requests even more requests. QUESTION: Instead of dying, can I tell Tomcat to just drop requests when maxThreads is reached and the AJP/1.3 backlog is full?   • How can I avoid an error in this .htaccess file?

    I have a blog. The blog is stored under the /blog/ prefix on my website. It has the usual URLs for a blog, so articles have URLs in the format /blog/:year/:month/:day/:title/. First and foremost, I want to automatically redirect visitors to the www subdomain (in case they leave that off), and internally rewrite the root URL to /blog/, so that the front page of the blog appears on the front page of the site. I have accomplished that with the following set of rewrite rules in my .htaccess file: RewriteEngine On # Rewrite monkey-robot.com to www.monkey-robot.com RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^monkey-robot\.com$ RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.monkey-robot.com/$1 [R=301,L] RewriteRule ^$ /blog/ [L] RewriteRule ^feeds/blog/?$ /feeds/blog/atom.xml [L] That works fine. The problem is that the front page of the blog now appears at two distinct URLs: / and /blog/. So I'd like to redirect the /blog/ URL to the root URL. I don't think [R,L] is a syntax error.

  • I have added a port to the public zone in firewalld but still can't access the port

    I've been using iptables for a long time, but have never used firewalld until recently. I have enabled port 3000 TCP via firewalld with the following command: # firewall-cmd --zone=public --add-port=3000/tcp --permanent However I can't access the server on port 3000. From an external box: telnet 178.62.16.244 3000 Trying 178.62.16.244... telnet: connect to address 178.62.16.244: Connection refused There are no routing issues: I have a separate rule for a port forward from port 80 to port 8000 which works fine externally. My app is definitely listening on the port too: Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address State User Inode PID/Program name tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:3000 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 99 36797 18662/node firewall-cmd doesn't seem to show the port either - see how ports is empty.   • Conditionally permitting HTTP-only requests to Tomcat?

    I have 2 versions of a system: Tomcat webserver Nginx reverse-proxy sitting in front of a tomcat webserver. In version 2, nginx only ever talks to Tomcat over HTTP. A user could configure the system so that only HTTPS requests are allowed. If the user does this in Version 1 and then the XML configuration files for Tomcat takes care of this. In version 2, nginx takes care of this. The problem is this: I cannot force a user to update their Tomcat XML config files when they upgrade from version 1 to version 2 (it will be recommended that they do so) because this is done as part of a larger process. This means that if they upgrade and don't update the Tomcat config, an HTTPS request will arrive at nginx, which will proxy it over HTTP to Tomcat which will reject the request because it is not HTTPS. So I can't force an update to the Tomcat XML, and I have to use HTTP between nginx and Tomcat. Any ideas? Is there some way I can affect how Tomcat reads its config in Version 2 so that it ignores the HTTPS-only section?

    I want to install the latest version of Git using yum and the RPM repository on kernel.org, but adding the repo to yum.repos.d causes yum to fail with checksum errors. The prevailing solution to this issue seems to be to simply use the repository at Webtatic as answered here on superuser. I know I can also install an older version of Git using the EPEL repo, or compile from the latest source tarball, but honestly I want to understand why I'm having issues using the kernel.org repo.   • nginx: how do I add new site/server_name in nginx?

    I'm just starting to explore Nginx on my Ubuntu 10.04. I installed Nginx and I'm able to get the "Welcome to Nginx" page on localhost. However I'm not able to add a new server_name, even when I make the changes in site-available/default file. Tried reloading/restarting Nginx, but nothing works. One interesting observation. "http://mycomputername" in browser works. So somehow there is a command like 'server_name $hostname' somewhere over-riding my rule.   • CSS and JS files not being updated, supposedly because of Nginx Caching

    I have my web app working with AppCache and I would like that when I modify my html/css/js files, and then update my Cache Manifest, that when the user accesses my web app, they will have an updated version of those files. If I change an HTML file, it works perfectly, but when I change CSS and JS files, the old version is still being used. I've been checking everything out and I think it's related to my nginx configuration. I have a cache.conf file that contains the following: gzip on; gzip_types text/css application/x-javascript text/x-component text/richtext image/svg+xml text/plain text/xsd text/xsl text/xml image/x-icon; location ~ \.(css|js|htc)$ { expires 31536000s; add_header Pragma "public"; add_header Cache-Control "max-age=31536000, public, must-revalidate, proxy-revalidate"; } location ~ \.(html|htm|rtf|rtx|svg|svgz|txt|xsd|xsl|xml)$ { expires 3600s; add_header Pragma "public"; add_header Cache-Control "max-age=3600, public, must-revalidate, proxy-revalidate"; } And in default.conf I have my locations. I would like to have this caching working on all locations except one, how could I configure this?     Our web app is running on a Linode 2048 server at the moment (~ 2048 GB of RAM) The MYSQL database is on another linode of it's own so this server is really only handling NGINX and and the Rails application. The application itself uses about 185976 of memory per instance (RSS). Our traffic is < 1000 per day and the pages are mostly cached so there are fewer hits to the rails app itself. My question is - how can I calculate optimal NGINX config settings for my app?     Hey I'm trying to connect to my Wcf service which is configured using castles wcf facility. When I go to the service in a browser i get: Metadata publishing for this service is currently disabled. Which lists a load of instructions which i cant do because the configuration isnt in the web.config. when I try to connect using VS/add service reference i get: The HTML document does not contain Web service discovery information. Metadata contains a reference that cannot be resolved: 'http://s.ibzstar.com/userservices.svc'. Content Type application/soap+xml; charset=utf-8 was not supported by service http://s.ibzstar.com/userservices.svc. The client and service bindings may be mismatched. The remote server returned an error: (415) Cannot process the message because the content type 'application/soap+xml; charset=utf-8' was not the expected type 'text/xml; charset=utf-8'.. If the service is defined in the current solution, try building the solution and adding the service reference again. Anyone know what I need to do to get this working?   • Android: Adding static header to the top of a ListActivity

    Currently I have a class that is extending the ListActivity class. I need to be able to add a few static buttons above the list that are always visible. I've attempted to grab the ListView using getListView() from within the class. Then I used addHeaderView(View) to add a small layout to the top of the screen. No buttons appear above it. Another approach I tried as adding padding to the top of the ListView. When I did this it successfully moved down, however, if I added any above it, it pushed the ListView over. No matter what I do it seems as though I cannot put a few buttons above the ListView when I used the ListActivity. Thanks in advance. synic, I tried your suggestion previously. I've got an ant script that packages my code up into a war with the cometd 1.1.1 binaries and jetty binaries that are appropriate to the version of jetty I deploy the war to (so 7.1.2.v20100523 binaries when I deploy to jetty 7.1.2.v20100523 and 6.1.24 when I deploy to 6.1.24).   • Android Packaging Problem: resources.ap_ does not exist

    I am trying to fix a problem in Eclipse for like 3 hours and I haven't made any progress. Tomorrow is the customer coming to look at my app, and I have no time left. This is really frustrating! This morning when I was coding and I wanted to run my app on my device Eclipse crashed all of a sudden. 'aapt.exe has stopped working' After this Eclipse wasn't starting anymore. It froze at the splash image. I looked on the internet and tried different solutions like going back to Java SE 6 update 20, changing .ini file etc. in the end reinstalling Eclipse did the job. Shortly after that the 'aapt.exe has stopped working' returned. I found a solution by changing my projects target. 1.5, 1.6, 2.2 doesn't matter, as long as it's different than the one before. Now I get the Error generating final archive: java.io.FileNotFoundException: C:\xxx\bin\resources.ap_ does not exist error. I tried clean but that doesn't work. Deleting and automatically regenarting R.java also didn't work. I ran the same code in Netbeans with the Android plugin and there it gives me the 'aapt.exe has stopped working' again :( Please guys, how can I fix this? Edit: I think I may have found the reason. It's a small png file which I repeat in a .xml file. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <bitmap xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:src="@drawable/bg" android:tileMode="repeat" /> This file has worked from the first time without any problems. I deleted it from the drawable folder, waited for an error message, and then added it back. The red x next to the foldername got away, but still nothing different...
