While typing tshark in the command line there's an error: "tshark: There are no interfaces on which a capture can be done" How to implement the solution from Wireshark setup Linux for nonroot user $ sudo apt-get install wireshark $ sudo dpkg-reconfigure wireshark-common $ sudo usermod -a -G wireshark $USER $ gnome-session-quit --logout --no-prompt in Amazon Linux AMI (it's not Ubuntu)?   • Google Chrome shows garbage text instead of web page

    On some websites, I receive garbage text instead of web page itself. I have noticed that this only happens for pages that are served with Content-Encoding set to GZIP or chunked headers, see the image please: I am using latest version 22.0.1229.94 of Chrome with Windows 7 Ultimaate. The encoding of browser is set to UTF-8. (I also tried changing encoding to Western, etc but same result) Can anyone suggest a solution to this? Thanks

    PHP, WHM, and several other services are already installed on a CentOS x64 server I am trying to migrate data to. Many of my existing PHP scripts are dependent on PHP's apache_request_headers() function, which the current server's PHP configuration does not support. Apparently, compiling PHP as an Apache module is one solution, but are there other ways to enable this (without uninstalling PHP, reinstalling, etc., and all dependent services), perhaps as easy as modifying php.ini, somehow?

    This is a crucial question to many: Searching the web, I have found several command line tools that allow you to convert a HTML-document to a PDF-document, however they all seem to use their own, and rather incomplete rendering engine, resulting in poor quality How can you print the rendered output of a modern web-browser to pdf, (and/or svg) whilst retaining as much vector graphics as possible? There is a solution called: webkit-pdf (which renders everything to bitmap graphics) I am looking for options, alternatives, suggestions perhaps even a printer-driver or webservices? Thanks

  • Recommendations on managing dot files for users using Puppet

    Goal is to have a collection of dot files (.bashrc, .vimrc, etc.) in a central location. Once it's there, Puppet should push out the files to all managed servers. I initially was thinking of giving users FTP access where they could upload their dot files and then having an rsync cron job. However, it might not be the most elegant or robust solution. Wanted to see if anyone else had some recommendations.

  • faking NAT with a VMware distributed switch across multiple hosts

    Have a VM that will act as the router, and will be connected to both networks (NAT + 'real'). I spread the distributed switch across the hosts, although any VM that is not on the same physical host as the router/dhcpd simply doesn't get an IP. So its obviously my dvSwitch config. Has anyone achieved a NAT solution using a dvSwitch before that they could share?! Thanks.

My company wants employees to send message and files to each other, just like Skype or Windows Live Messenger. The bottom line here is: they don't want people to contact internet users.   • rundll32 gets stuck when running games on windows 7 [closed]

    When I run a game on my windows 7 laptop, Rundll32 completely uses up one of my cores and the game wont start. By searching the web I have been able to fix it by 1 - Disabling game info collection/updation from the games explorer. It solved the problem for some games but not all 2 - Killing the game exe once rundll32 gets stuck and restarting the game This has solved the problem for now, but is there a proper and permanent solution to this?

    Does anyone know how to run applications hosted on a client VM from an icon created on the host computer. For example I want to run IE8 installed on the client VM on my host XP computer running IE6. I cant update to IE6 on the host because of compliance issues.   • How do I extend the virsh/qemu/libvirt Timeout?

    There's a known issue with starting virtual machines with large hard drive images. Apparently, the time-out is 3 seconds, but in reality, it can take up to 15 seconds for a machine to start. I've read several bug reports, and people confirming it's a time-out problem, but I have yet to see a solution. Is there an option I can pass, like: virsh start MyMachine --ignore-timeout Or a config file that needs changed? Thanks!
