  • In the following list, how do I prevent jQuery from interacting with part of it.

    - by kylex
    I have the following list structure: <ul> <li>One</li> <li class="topActive">Two <ul> <li class="active">Two-1 <ul> <li>Two-1-1</li> </ul> </li> <li>Two-2</li> </ul> </li> <li>Three <ul> <li>Three-1</li> </ul> </li> </ul> with the following jQuery: $("ul>li>ul").hide(); $("ul>li>ul>li>ul").hide(); $("ul>li>ul>li>ul>ul>li").hide(); $('.active').parents().show();????????? $("ul>li").hoverIntent( function(){ $(this).children('ul').slideDown('fast'); }, function(){ $(this).children('ul').slideUp('fast'); } ); $("ul>li>ul>li").hoverIntent( function(){ $(this).children('ul').slideDown('fast'); }, function(){ $(this).children('ul').slideUp('fast'); } ); What I would like is this: When an li class is topActive, everything within that class down to the current class can not be affected by the jQuery that causes the list to slide up and down. so in the case provided the following would show, along with the top level: One Two Two-1 Two-2 Three And when I mouse over either, Two, or Two-1 or Two-2 nothing happens, but if I mouse over Three, the jQuery will cause it to slide up or slide down. In this example: <ul> <li>One</li> <li class="topActive">Two <ul> <li class="active">Two-1 <ul> <li>Two-1-1</li> </ul> </li> <li>Two-2</li> </ul> </li> <li>Three <ul> <li>Three-1</li> </ul> </li> </ul> When I mouseover Two-1, it will slide down, but when I mouse out Two-1 will remain. One Two Two-1 Two-2 Three Any suggestsions for either a CSS or jQuery implementation (or mixture of the two)?

I am able to inject a single DOM element and apply CSS style to it: var $e = $('<div id="header"></div>'); $('body').append($e); $e.css({ background: '#fbf7f7', }); Problem: If I have nested elements within $e, how can I apply CSS styles to the parents and its children seperately? var $e = $('<div id="header"><div class="header-content"><span class="title"></span></div></div>');

    I am trying to implement a modal using bootstrap. When I click on the button the screen fades and the modal appears, but it appears behind the images in and is unreadable for the user. How do I bring the modal forward? <div class ="container-fluid"> <div class = "row-fluid"> <div class = "span2"> <!-- Modal --> <div class="modal hide fade" id="myModal"> <div class="modal-header"> <a class="close" data-dismiss="modal">×</a> <h3>Modal header</h3> </div> <div class="modal-body"> <p>One fine body…</p> </div> <div class="modal-footer"> <a href="#" class="btn">Close</a> <a href="#" class="btn btn-primary">Save changes</a> </div> </div> <a data-toggle="modal" href="#myModal" class="btn btn-primary">Launch demo modal</a> </div> <div class = "span8"> #a lot of images in this div </div> </div> </div>

  • JQuery Validate Dynamic Table

    - by Richard
    I'm using the JQuery validation plug to validate my entire form. I also have a dynamic table on my registration page where the user can register more people. I can validate the rest of the form fine but my goal is to validate the table inputs just the same. Here is my jfiddle code: tables I don't know why the add line won't work there but it definitely works on my page. Anyway, that code ends up validate ONLY the first row of my table, but I want it to validate every single row. Can anyone see any problems with the code?

  • Iframe/Popup redirecting opener window

    - by Bara
    Hello all, I have a page located at x.com. On this page is a button that, when clicked, will launch a new window (using javascript's window.open() method) to a page that is located at z.com. The popup does a few things, then redirects the original window (the opener, x.com) to a different page based on some parameters defined in the popup. This works fine in Firefox/Chrome, but not in IE. In IE (8 specifically, but I believe 7 also has this problem) the original window (the opener) is not redirected. Instead, a new window comes up and THAT window is redirected. I've tried many different methods to try and get this to work, including changing the popup to an iframe loaded on the page and having a function on the opener that the popup/iframe call. The problem seems to be that IE refuses to allow cross-domain sites to talk to each other via javascript. Is there a way around this? How can I get the parent window to redirect to a page based on parameters in a popup or iframe? Bara

  • How new is @font-face, and what do I need to know before I add it to a website?

    - by DavidR
    I started getting into reading design blogs a little while ago, and it seemed that @font-face got really popular sometime late last year, or something like that, because I was under the impression that it was a new emerging feature of the web. But then I saw that Internet Explorer has had it since IE4 (with some conversion). So is it common to see @font-face online nowadays? Sould I have anything in mind with respect to accessibility, legality, or rendering before I do something like this? I saw that Hulu.com renders fonts with Canvas and a javascript called "cufon."

  • What is the best way to include Javascript?

    - by Paul Tarjan
    Many of the big players recommend slightly different techniques. Mostly on the placement of the new <script>. Google Anayltics: (function() { var ga = document.createElement('script'); ga.type = 'text/javascript'; ga.async = true; ga.src = ('https:' == document.location.protocol ? 'https://ssl' : 'http://www') + '.google-analytics.com/ga.js'; var s = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(ga, s); })(); Facebook: (function() { var e = document.createElement('script'); e.async = true; e.src = document.location.protocol + '//connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js'; document.getElementById('fb-root').appendChild(e); }());: Disqus: (function() { var dsq = document.createElement('script'); dsq.type = 'text/javascript'; dsq.async = true; dsq.src = 'http://' + disqus_shortname + '.disqus.com/embed.js'; (document.getElementsByTagName('head')[0] || document.getElementsByTagName('body')[0]).appendChild(dsq); })(); (post others and I'll add them) Is there any rhyme or reason for these choices or does it not matter at all?

  • IE7 ignoring margin in a div following an absolute positioned div

    - by 0al0
    I have two divs inside a container, the first one has absolute positioning. In ie7, the second div apparently ignores the top margin. Padding seems to work fine, but for visual reasons I have to use margin. I know the culprit is the absolute positioned div because if i remove it the following div works fine. This is only happening in ie7 (not even in ie6). Help! Edit: I just found a solution which consists of giving the parent div padding-top just for ie7. So I would just like to know why does this happen, and if there is one, a cleaner solution, but I dont need more dirty hacks..

  • Apply a specific class to the first item in a series with PHP

    - by Thomas
    I have a php script that echoes a series of uploaded images and I need to apply a class to the first image echoed in the series. Is this possible? For example, if I want to display 10 images and apply a class to only the first image, how would I go about it? Here is the code, I am working with: <div id="gallery"> <?php query_posts('cat=7'); while(have_posts()) { the_post(); $image_tag = wp_get_post_image('return_html=true'); $resized_img = getphpthumburl($image_tag,'h=387&w=587&zc=1'); $url = get_permalink(); $Price ='Price'; $Location = 'Location'; $title = $post->post_title; echo "<a href='$url'><img src='$resized_img' width='587' height='387' "; echo "rel=\"<div class='gallery_title'><h2>"; echo $title; echo "</h2></div>"; echo "<div class='pre_box'>Rate:</div><div class='entry'>\$"; echo get_post_meta($post->ID, $Price, true); echo "</div><div class='pre_box'>Location:</div><div class='entry'>"; echo get_post_meta($post->ID, $Location, true); echo "</div>\""; echo "'/></a>"; echo ""; } ?> On line 13, the code looks like this: echo "<a href='$url'><img src='$resized_img' width='587' height='387' "; For the first item only, I need it to look like this: echo "<a href='$url' class='show'><img src='$resized_img' width='587' height='387' ";

  • Problems solving oddly acting labels in ie7.

    - by Qwibble
    Okay so this is sort of a double question so I'll split it into two. First part In modern browsers the main bold labels sit above their corresponding form elements, and align to the left as is expected. However in ie7, they randomly site 10-15px inset. I went through the developer tools and could find nothing to fix it. I've made sure all my margins and padding is reset so I don't really understand =S Here's the page demo - link Maybe some of you ie bug fixing genius's know what the problem is? =D Second part Again with labels, this time the in-line ones resident next to the check boxes and radio buttons. In modern browsers again, the side beside the form elements as expected, but not so in ie7 where they take a new line. I've tried floating, changing margins and everything but to no effect in sitting it in-line with the div.checker or div.radio that is created by the uniform Jquery plugin. Here's the page demo - link Sorry for troubling you with my ie7 problems, I know they arent the most fun to solve. Hopefully someone has the patience to help. Matt

  • Get the position of a div/span tag

    - by schmoopy
    Can someone show me how to get the .top & .left position of a div or span tag when one is not specified? ie: <span id='11a' style='top:55px;' onmouseover="GetPos(this);">stuff</span> <span id='12a' onmouseover="GetPos(this);">stuff</span> In the above, if i do: document.getElementById('11a').style.top The the value of 55px is returned. However if i try that for span '12a', then nothing gets returned. I have a bunch of div/spans on a page that i cannot specify the top/left properties for, but i need to display a div directly under that element. Thanks for lookin :-)
