  • Sorting a nodeset before passing to xsl:for-each

    I have a situation where loop through a sorted nodeset and apply a template on each of the nodes: <div id="contractscontainer"> <xsl:for-each select="document"> <xsl:sort select="content[@name='ClientName']/text()" /> <xsl:apply-templates select="." mode="client-contract" /> </xsl:for-each> </div> I want to do something special with the "first" 5 nodes in the node set and render them nested element. The problem is that they need to be in the same order as if they were sorted (as they are in the loop). I had planned on doing this by using two xsl:for-each elements, each with the correct nodes selected from the set. I can't do this, however, because they need to be sorted before I can select the "first" 5.     I have a Python script that reads through a text csv file and creates a playlist file. However I can only do one at a time, like: python playlist.py foo.csv foolist.txt However, I have a directory of files that need to be made into a playlist, with different names, and sometimes a different number of files. So far I have looked at creating a txt file with a list of all the names of the file in the directory, then loop through each line of that, however I know there must be an easier way to do it.

    Spending hours fixing my function.php page and all seemed well, except Im getting errors on my rss feed at: blog.xternalit.co.uk. I leave that issue to rest and installed wordpress iphone app. The connection to my blog works perfect with wordpress' default theme. Ha! But it keeps making me resetting my password. So hell with that. Switched back to my theme and I cant connect from app to blog.   • Inserting Multiple Records in SQL2000

    I have a web app that currently is inserting x (between 1 + 40) records into a table that contains about 5 fields, via a linq-2-sql-stored procedure in a loop. Would it be better to manually write the SQL Inserts to say a string builder and run them against the database when the loops completed rather than 30 transactions? or should I just accept this is negligible for such a small number of inserts.

  • Performance of tokenizing CSS in PHP

    This is a noob question from someone who hasn't written a parser/lexer ever before. I'm writing a tokenizer/parser for CSS in PHP (please don't repeat with 'OMG, why in PHP?'). The syntax is written down by the W3C neatly here (CSS2.1) and here (CSS3, draft). It's a list of 21 possible tokens, that all (but two) cannot be represented as static strings. My current approach is to loop through an array containing the 21 patterns over and over again, do an if (preg_match()) and reduce the source string match by match. In principle this works really good. However, for a 1000 lines CSS string this takes something between 2 and 8 seconds, which is too much for my project. Now I'm banging my head how other parsers tokenize and parse CSS in fractions of seconds. OK, C is always faster than PHP, but nonetheless, are there any obvious D'Oh! s that I fell into? I made some optimizations, like checking for '@', '#' or '"' as the first char of the remaining string and applying only the relevant regexp then, but this hadn't brought any great performance boosts. I read somewhere this solution, using the accumulation buffer: glAccum(GL_MULT, 0.90); glAccum(GL_ACCUM, 0.10); glAccum(GL_RETURN, 1.0); glFlush(); at the end of the render loop. But nothing happens... What I am missing ?

    When trying to call wave.getState() in my Google Wave gadget, I get back null (no state object). How can I initialize the Wave state object? I am working in the Wave Sandbox. My ModulePrefs contains the following: <Require feature="wave" /> <Require feature="rpc"/> I got the "rpc" feature from some google groups post when searching for a fix, but it doesn't seem to be any help. The newButtonClick callback (which is attached to the link "a.newButton" in the edit container) is supposed to add Jeremias (Nate's Shadowrun character) to the gadget state, so that he'll be appear as a table row in edit mode. I have verified that the initializer method is called, and the view/edit mode switch works just fine (except the state is null). When I click on the new button link (the link at the bottom in edit mode), and trigger the newButtonClick handler, I get an error because wave.getState() also returns null. How can I initialize the wave state so that I can work with it? The purpose of my gadget will be to keep track of combat initiative order in a Shadowrun tabletop game (4th Ed).     Hi there, I'm working on a SQL CE Database and get into the "Row nor found or changed" exception. The exception only occurs when I try to update. On the first Run after the insert it shows up a MemberChangeConflict which says, that my Column Created_at has in all three values (current, original, database) the same. But in a second attempt it doesn't appear anymore. The DataContext is instanciated on Startup and freed on Exit of my Local(!) Application. I use a sqlmetal generated mapping and code file. In the map I added some Associations and set the timemstamp columns UpdateCheck property to Always while all other have the setting never. The Timestamp Column is marked as isVersion="true", the Id Column as Primary Key. Since I don't dispose the datacontext I expected to be using implicit transaction. When I run the SubmitChanges Method within a TransactionScope. Can anyone tell me how I can update the timestamp within the code ? I know about the Problems one has to deal with if you dispose the datacontext. So I decided not to do this since I use a Single User Local DB Cache File. (I did already use a version where I disposed the datacontext after every usage, but this version had a real bad performance and error rate, so I decided to choose the other variant.)   • Joining H264 *without* re-encoding

    Hi, I have two halves of a single show in two .MP4 files, encoded in H264. I would like to join them without re-encoding. Is this possible? I managed to create a joined video as a Quicktime file (.mov) using Quicktime Pro, but then Quicktime Pro will not convert it back to .MP4 without re-encoding. This may be because looking inside the .mov file, the two H264 videos are in there still separated as individual "objects". I am also struggling with MPEG StreamClip without reaching a real solution. But I may have missed something. Note that I have the same issue with MPEG2 files. I can export them to a .MPEG container or a .TS file for example, but I don't know how to join them without re-encoding. Any suggestion welcome, preferably using Mac software.

    Hey folks, I've got a really weird problem with a bi-directional relationship in jpa (hibernate implementation). A User is based in one Region, and a Region can contain many Users. So...relationship is as follows: Region object: @OneToMany(mappedBy = "region", fetch = FetchType.LAZY, cascade = CascadeType.ALL) public Set<User> getUsers() { return users; } public void setUsers(Set<User> users) { this.users = users; } User object: @ManyToOne(cascade = {CascadeType.PERSIST, CascadeType.MERGE}, fetch = FetchType.EAGER) @JoinColumn(name = "region_fk") public Region getRegion() { return region; } public void setRegion(Region region) { this.region = region; } So, the relationship as you can see above is Lazy on the region side, ie, I don't want the region to eager load all the users.     For backup purposes we have Cifs file Server running that contains encrypted containers for backing up the more sensitive data. The container is mounted with cryptsetup and loop as a local filesystem and the rsync is used for backups. Because the Cifs server is not the fastest machine ever built, running the rsync process results in an iowait on the servers running the backup which in turn drives Nagios into an email frenzy. The question is, how do reduce the iowait on the server? Configuring Nagios to not report seems more like a workaround then a solution. Stretching the backups over different time intervals is already done with little effect and spending money is also not an option because apparently, we are talking about a "non-critical system".

    I have an existing installation of Apache (2.2.10 Windows x86) using mod_php and PHP 5.2.6. Can I run another site in a virtual host using FastCGI and a different version of PHP, while stilling running the main site in mod_php?
