Replace newline from MySQL TEXT field to parse w/ JSON

Hi, "replace newline" seems to be a question asked here and there like hundred times already. But however, i haven't found any working solution for myself yet. I have a textarea that i use to save data into DB. Then using AJAX I want to get data from the DB in the backend that is in TEXT field and to pass it to frontend using JSON. But pasing JSON returns an error, as new lines from DB are not valid JSON syntax, I guess i should use \n instead... But how do i replace newlinew from DB with \n? I've tried this $t = str_replace('<br />', '\n', nl2br($t)); and this $t = preg_replace("/\r\n|\n\r|\r|\n/", "\n", $t); and using CHAR(13) and CHAR(10), and still I get an error the new line in textarea is equivalent to, i guess $t = 'text with a newline'; it gives the same error. And in notepad i clearly see that it is crlf

Animating resizing and moving UIView at the same time

I'd like to "Stretch" a UIView to the right side, meaning increase it's frame.size.width by foo pixels and at the same time decreasing it's frame.origin.x by foo pixels, using [UIView beginAnimations] syntax. However, if I do that, when the animation begins the view immediately resizes, and then starts the animation for the origin. CGRect currFrame = someView.frame; currFrame.size.width += 100; currFrame.origin.x -= 100; [UIView beginAnimations:@"Anim1" context:nil]; someView.frame = currFrame; [UIView setAnimationDuration:0.7]; [UIView commitAnimations]; I've also tried breaking the animation down to 2 parts but then I can't keep the right position in place. Any help is much appreciated!

As I iterate through a DataTable object, I need to check each of its DataRow objects against the items in a generic string List. I found a blog post using the List's Find method along with a delegate, but whereas that example has a separate class (Person), I'm attempting something like the following using an instance of the string object: // My definition of the List object. I need to browse through a file which may contain queries like this. String sql = "select * from test where name="+test+"and age="+age; There are nearly 1000 files and each file has different kind of queries like this where I have to pluck the query alone which I have done through an unix script.But I need to convert these Java based queries to Oracle compatible queries. ie. select * from test where name="name" and age="age" Basically I need to check the syntax of the queries by this.I have seen something like this in TOAD but I have more than 1000 files and can't manually change each one.Is there a way? I've been a bad kid and used the following syntax in my partial templates to set default values for local variables if a value wasn't explicitly defined in the :locals hash when rendering the partial -- <% foo = default_value unless (defined? foo) %> This seemed to work fine until recently, when (for no reason I could discern) non-passed variables started behaving as if they had been defined to nil (rather than undefined). As has been pointed by various helpful people on SO, http://api.rubyonrails.org/classes/ActionView/Base.html says not to use defined? foo and instead to use local_assigns.has_key? :foo I'm trying to amend my ways, but that means changing a lot of templates. Can/should I just charge ahead and make this change in all the templates? Is there any trickiness I need to watch for? How diligently do I need to test each one?

Is there a way I can reset the style of a certain character sequence? I'm using the listings package to display source code and the prebreak property to display a escape character \ to indicate that the current lines was broken. The problem is that sometimes the backslash is colored because of the syntax highlighting used. I am doing some expensive caluations right now. It is one programm, which I run several instances of at the same time. I am running them under linux on a machine with 4 cpus with 6 cores each. The cpus are Intel Xeon X5660, which support hyper thearting. (That's some insane hardware, huh?) Right now I am running 24 processes at once. Would it be better to run more, b/c of HT ?

I am trying the following code: 0 use strict; 10 my @frame_events = (((1) x 10), ((1) x 10)); 20 print "$frame_events[1][1]\n"; but it gives the following error: Can't use string ("1") as an ARRAY ref while "strict refs" in use at ./dyn_pf.pl line 20. This syntax only seems to initialize a 1d array as print "$frame_events[1]\n" works. Though perl doesn't give any error during the assignment.

What should a PHP generate to give back to a jQuery AJAX request?

I need to make a little JS app to scroll automatically through a list of URLs. I've chosen to have the functionality in a pop-up, for various reasons. The syntax to change the opening window's URL is: window.opener.location.href = "http://www.example.com"; This works fine with one URL, but if two statements are called, only one is executed. I experimented with an alert statement between two of the above statements, and the alert event made the second statement function properly: window.opener.location.href = "http://www.example1.com"; alert("hello world"); window.opener.location.href = "http://www.example2.com"; Question is: does anyone know how to get the first and second window.opener statements to work, without the intervening alert();? Also, how can I add a pause between the two statements, so that the second executes a couple of seconds after the first? Thanks so much!

Pipe less to emacs

When viewing piped output to Less, sometimes I'd like to be able to view it in Emacs in order to get syntax highlighting and use emacs commands for searching, marking, copying, etc. I see that Less has a v command that can be used to open the currently viewed file in $EDITOR. Unfortunately this doesn't work when viewing piped input. Also, I don't know how to get Emacs to display stdin as a read-only document. So, is it possible to set up Less with something like v but that pumps the current buffer into Emacs as a read-only file? Thanks.
