• How can I associate my main domain to a RSS?

  This is an institutional site which uses Tumblr to keep the visitors updated. The Tumblr is linked via frames in the subdirectory /blog/ of the domain to track stats. My question is: How can I allow my visitors to retrieve the Tumblr updates by simply inputing www.domain.com in their feed reader instead of domain.tumblr.com? OR How can I allow my visitors to retrieve the Tumblr updates by simply inputing www.domain.com/blog in their feed reader instead of domain.tumblr.com? PS. For some reason the main domain is still associated with the old blogspot address.

There are two ways I know to do this: 1 go to a sollecitor/lawyer and pay for them to certify the document 2 use an online webservice to mark any given file/folder readable to the service Anyone has already done this and if yes how (e.g. which website have you used? which type of solecitor have you contacted? etc..)?   I've searched this website, as well as SO for a question like that, and I still haven't found what I'm looking for. I'm looking for a book that is similar to Head First Software Development. I want to know more about the different stages of software development, I know about coding already, but I don't know much about unit testing, version control, integration, design...etc. P.S. it'd be nice if the book wasn't a thousand pages long. Edit: I'm looking for an introductory text, not a book about the latest trends in software development.

• Wine Security - Improvement by second user account?

  Team, I'm considering installing wine - but still hesitant for security reasons. As far as I found out, malicious code could reach ~/.wine and all my personal data with my user-priviledges - but not farther than that. So - would it be any safer to create a second user account on my machine and install wine there? That way, the second user would only have reading rights to my files. Is there a way to install wine totally confined to that user - so that I can't execute .exe files from my original account? Thanks in advance! PS - I'm running Ubuntu 11.10 64bit if that matters.

• Why do browsers leak memory?

  A colleague and I were speaking about browsers (using a browser control object in a project), and it appears as plain as day that all browsers (Firefox, Chrome, IE, Opera) display the same characteristic or side-effect from their usage and that being 'Leaking Memory'. Can someone explain why that is the case? Surely as with any form of code, there should be proper garbage collection? PS. I've read about some defensive patterns on why this can happen from a developer's perspective. I am aware of an article Crockford wrote on IE; but why is the problem symptomatic of every browser? • Internationalization of non-english application

  I know there are lots of posts for internationalization, but this is something I didn't found while searching. I have a PHP Web application, which is pretty big right now. It's developed actively for 4 years and wasn't built with internationalization in mind. Text is everywhere - in plain HTML, in PHP variables, in echo's, in the DB... Now I'm familiar with the concept of gettext and this is what i plan to use for the internationalization project of the application. However the app is not written in English and here is my question: Should I first translate everything to English while wrapping every string in gettext() function, or I can use my native language as a base? P.S. also any quick suggestions (links maybe) on making my life easier with the whole i18n project will be greatly appreciated!

• Comparing a saved movement with other movement with Kinect

  I need to develop an application where a user (physiotherapist) will perform a movement in front of the Kinect, I'll write the data movement in the database and then the patient will try to imitate this motion. The system will calculate the similarity between the movement recorded and executed. My first idea is, during recording (each 5 second, by example), to store the position (x, y, z) of the points and then compare them in the execution time(by patient). I know that this approach is too simple, because I imagine that in people of different sizes the skeleton is recognized differently, so the comparison is not reliable. My question is about the best way to compare a saved motion with a movement executed (on the fly). PS: Sorry by my English.

  I try to boot Ubuntu 12.04, 64-bit on my Compaq CQ58 laptop from a USB but it is not working. I've correctly installed the Ubuntu on my pen drive following the instructions on Ubuntu website. • Block a website on HTTPS [closed]

  I would like to block some websites on their HTTPS version and allow them on HTTP. The main websites involved are Youtube and Google Images/Videos. This is because on the HTTP version, I can enforce the Safesearch filter on those platforms, whereas I cannot on the HTTPS version. For me, this is a very serious issue which spoils many great things about the Safesearch features Google offers. Is there any software/config that can do that? P.S.: I'm not sure this is the right place to post this question in, maybe you could redirect me to some other SE platform?

  I am searching a Micro QR Code Generator that fulfills the following requirements: At least 20 characters encoded Minimal error correction (required to get the 20 characters stuffed in) I already searched google, but it seems all micro qr generators automatically use maximum error correction, which is very unhandy for my task, as we need the 20 characters completety. I can't use standard QR because there are certain requirements that need the code to be smaller than a certain dimension when printed... I hope someone can help me. • 600 visitors per day, 20 backlinks but still not referenced by Google

  Hello, i've launch a website on wednesday (9 August) There's already in 4 days 12,000 viewed pages 1,400 visits 20 to 25 backlincks a sitemap.xml (130 URL) english language / french language - url like that "/en/" "/fr/" BUT, i'm still not referrenced by google In the google webmaster i have 0 backlinks 130 in sitemap, 0 URL referrenced on google For a smaller website, i remember that i took me less to appear on google with less visits. My url is: http://www.seek-team.com/en/ for english and juste replace /en/ by /fr/ to access it in french. What's causing this ? Is there an explanation ? Thanks for your help (ps, i've already checked robots.txt)

  Hi, i'm learning something about game programming from a book about "pyGame". pyGame is simple, but... python is a little complex and different from my previous knoweledge about programming. • Empathy chat limits the number of contacts displayed?

  I'm using Empathy Chat with these accounts: GTalk & Facebook. I just noticed now that from my GTalk friends only 6 appear online (including me) and in reality online are 14 (checked on GMail). And from Facebook it displays 44. So is Empathy Chat limited to display only 50 contacts? I looked through the settings and didn't see anything like this :| The worst part is that I have 1 GTalk contact as Favorite and it's not in the list... Is it a bug? PS: I'm using Ubuntu 10.10

  I am very new at this and have been trying to get my head around my first selector can somebody help? i am trying to extract data from page http://groceries.asda.com/asda-webstore/landing/home.shtml?cmpid=ahc--ghs-d1--asdacom-dsk-_-hp#/shelf/1215337195041/1/so_false all the info under div class = listing clearfix shelfListing but i cant seem to figure out how to format response.xpath(). I have managed to launch scrapy console but no matter what I type in response.xpath() i cant seem to select the right node. I know it works because when I type response.xpath('//div[@class="container"]') I get a response but don't know how to navigate to the listsing cleardix shelflisting. I am hoping that once i get this bit I can continue working my way through the spider. Thank you in advance! PS I wonder if it is not possible to scan this site - is it possible for the owners to block spiders?

• Fork bomb protection not working : Amount of processes not limited

Connection to thebe closed by remote host. Is this a bug or why is it ignoring the limit in limits.conf and why is not applying the limit that ulimit -n claims it to be? PS: I really don't think the memory limit is hit before the process limit. This machine has 8GB ram and it was using only 4% of it at the time when I dropped the fork bomb.

The things I'm specifically confused about are: Uncompressing and unpacking, what's the difference and how do I do them? What package should I install if I want the generic kernel provided in regular Ubuntu installation? I won't be installing any drivers or anything related to kernel other than what's provided in the repos, do I need to worry about manually adding kernel modules? PS I would like to request that all the commands used in the installation process be mentioned in the answer, for the benefit of ones who're completely unfamiliar and myself, should I ever forget.

• 301 redirect the home pages but keep sitemap pages same

  I have manually redirected my entire site. The only page that's left is the homepage. How do I redirect my homepage to the new site (http://example.com) but keep my sitemaps on the old domain (www.example.com)? Below is the structure for the sitemap urls: Main - http://www.example.com/sitemap.xml Sub - http://www.example.com/sitemap-pt-post-2013-07.xml (Month and year are the only parts that change) I have tried this and the site redirects but GWT tells me that I dont have a 301 set: RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} olddomain\.com [NC] RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/$ Rewriterule ^(.*)$ http://newdomain.com/ [L,R=301] P.S. I want to do this so that I could track the 301 in GWT and etc. until things a finalized.

• Google Places good rank on wrong keyword/category

  I have noticed that several people find my website by searching for a completely unrelated term. This has to do with the fact that I have registered the company on Google Places with the keyword/category "webb-hotell", which in Swedish means web-hosting. If you are Swedish you may suggest using "webbhotell" instead. But the thing is that Google doesn't consider that a category, thus I get no rank at all for that keyword. It seems like I'm getting hits from people searching hotels in my area. If I type "hotel [my location]" I get a really high rank. It's not like I want people to end up on my site if they want a hotel, but it's Google's fault. My question is: What can I do about it? P.S: Can someone create the tag "google-places" for me?
