  • CLI Text editor with rtf capabilities for Windows

    - by dassouki
I'm looking for a command line interface program that gives me the ability to write formatted text easily interoperable with MS Word and OpenOffice. I figured RTF would be the common ground. An example of what I was hoping for would be: [Heading 1] Hello Heading [Paragraph Style 1] My name is hello world, I'm awesome.

  • Multiline code in Word 2007

    - by WaelJ
I am using word 2007 and am inserting code into the document. I have a style with a fixed-width font and light grey background and all, and I use Notepad++ for syntax highlighting. My problem is with a "line" of code that is too long to display, so is there a way to auto-insert an arrow symbol at the beginning of a such lines to indicate that it is the same line (kind of like hyphenating, except on long lines instead of long words) So for e.g. something like this: public static void foo(String abcdefg, Boolean 123, ?String xyz)

  • --prefix to /usr/local or /opt?

    - by Paul Alexander
For building apps from source like git or rails I've seen recommendations to install in both /opt or /usr/local. From what I've read so for, the designated use for both is about the same and it amounts to merely a style issue. Is there any practical difference? Best practices?

  • Vim: tab-align multiple lines?

    - by Andrew Bolster
In GUI style editors, you can generally select multiple lines, press tab a few times to move all the lines across (or shift-tab to go back). I have no idea how to do this in VIM. I googled around and couldn't find any straight answer to I came here.

  • How to use custom live CSS on Safari on the Mac?

    - by Cawas
To use a CSS on Safari, just go to Preferences - Advanced - Style Sheet. But pay attention to the "live" part. I mean, being able to edit the CSS on the fly, without needing to quit Safari and open it again. That link gives a hint from 2006 which doesn't seem to work on Safari 4. Would you happen to know another fix that works?

  • Why does my font in the OneNote 2010 beta keep changing back to a non-default?

    - by Matt
In OneNote options I've set a particular default font. Then I selected all text in a particular notebook section and change it to the new font. However, whenever I insert a new line in that existing body of text, it reverts to a font that isn't my default. Almost as if the incorrect "style" information is somehow embedded in the existing text, even though the text itself is the correct font. How can I resolve this?

  • configuring slime in emacs

    - by CodeKingPlusPlus
I am in the process of configuring slime for emacs. So far I have read about basic functionality for common lisp such as C-c C-q which invokes the command slime-close-parens-at-point which places the proper number of parens where your mouse is. Another command that seemed cool was invoked by C-c C-c and it would pass the code you are editing in a buffer to the REPL, and "compile" it. Why won't these commands work for me? Anyway, I have downloaded slime via M-x list-packages and do not seem to have this functionality (C-h w and then any of these commands tells me that these commands do note exist). So, I saw a bunch of other slime extensions such as slime-repl', 'slime-fuzzy' and 'hippie-expand-slime'. So I again usedM-x list-packages` and downloaded them. Still I did not have these commands. Here is the content of my emacs file relevant to slime: ;;;Common Lisp and Slime (add-to-list 'load-path "/home/s2s2/.emacs.d/elpa/slime-20130626.1151") (add-to-list 'load-path "/home/s2s2/.emacs.d/elpa/slime-repl-201000404") (add-to-list 'load-path "/home/s2s2/.emacs.d/elpa/hippie-expand-slime-20130226.1656") (add-to-list 'load-path "/home/s2s2/.emacs.d/elpa/slime-fuzzy-20100404") (require 'slime) (setq slime-lisp-implementations `((sbcl ("/usr/bin/sbcl")) (ecl ("/usr/bin/ecl")) (clisp ("/usr/bin/clisp" "-q -I")))) (require 'slime-repl) (require 'slime-fuzzy) (require 'hippie-expand-slime) When I execute M-x slime I get the following message in the inferior-lisp buffer where I can execute common lisp code (however, shouldn't this be the slime-repl since I required it?): STYLE-WARNING: redefining EMACS-INSPECT (#<BUILT-IN-CLASS T>) in DEFMETHOD STYLE-WARNING: Implicitly creating new generic function STREAM-READ-CHAR-WILL-HANG-P. WARNING: These Swank interfaces are unimplemented: (DISASSEMBLE-FRAME SLDB-BREAK-AT-START SLDB-BREAK-ON-RETURN) ;; Swank started at port: 46533. Then a slime-error buffer is created with the contents: Invalid protocol message: Symbol "CREATE-REPL" not found in the SWANK package. Line: 1, Column: 28, File-Position: 28 Stream: #<SB-IMPL::STRING-INPUT-STREAM {10056B9C33}> (:emacs-rex (swank:create-repl nil) "COMMON-LISP-USER" t 5) How should I modify my emacs file to give me the functionality of those commands? In my emacs file am I not loading the necessary files? Do I need to install an additional package? If you need more information let me know! All help is much appreciated!

  • Hidden DNS master only sending notify to one slave

    - by Rob
My hidden DNS master is only sending notifies to one of the name servers for a zone I have 3 named servers ns0,ns1 & ns2 all running bind 9.7.3.dfsg-1ubuntu4.1. When an update is processed the master (ns0) seems to behave normally. ns0 (192.168.2.50) zone domain.org/IN: sending notifies (serial 2012060703) client 192.168.2.52#42892: transfer of 'domain.org/IN': AXFR-style IXFR started: TSIG rndc-key client 192.168.2.52#42892: transfer of 'domain.org/IN': AXFR-style IXFR ended ns2 (192.168.2.52) client 192.168.2.50#3762: received notify for zone 'domain.org': TSIG 'rndc-key' zone domain.org/IN: Transfer started. transfer of 'domain.org/IN' from 192.168.2.50#53: connected using 192.168.2.52#55747 zone domain.org/IN: transferred serial 2012060704: TSIG 'rndc-key' transfer of 'domain.org/IN' from 192.168.2.50#53: Transfer completed: 1 messages, 34 records, 1028 bytes, 0.001 secs (1028000 bytes/sec) Nothing happens on ns1. I've turned up the logging level but there's no information in syslog about the actual name servers bind has sent notifications to so I guess this is something it doesn't log. I've also tried watching tcpdump, it never makes any attempt to notify ns1 only ns2 192.168.2.50.56278 > 192.168.2.52.53: [udp sum ok] 56418 notify [b2&3=0x2400] [1a] [1au] ? I was under the impression bind would automatically send notifies to all NS records on a zone, maybe it's bugged?

  • Change the output format of zsh's time

    - by YGA
Hi Folks, I've just switched to zsh. However, I really don't like how the time builtin command also outputs the command that it's timing. I much prefer the bash style output. Anyone know how to switch it over? Zsh: [casqa1:~/temp]$ time grep foo /dev/null /usr/local/gnu/bin/grep --color -i foo /dev/null 0.00s user 0.00s system 53% cpu 0.004 total Bash: [casqa1:~/temp]$ bash casqa1.nyc:~/temp> time grep foo /dev/null real 0.0 user 0.0 sys 0.0 Thanks, /YGA

  • How to get the Classic Start Menu in Windows 7?

    - by Rob Kam
Classic start menu is simple and efficient, but the Vista style start menu gets in the way from letting me get on with what I want to do. It also has features I don't want, such as an irritating bitmap that changes according to where the cursor hovers. I've managed to disable most of the unwanted cosmetics and animations but it's still not the dull old Classic Menu that I prefer. How to get the Classic Start Menu in Windows 7 but without a kludge if possible?

  • Keyboard and monitor recommendations

    - by Dmn
I'm about to get a 23" monitor to connect to my laptop for programming, and general multimedia besides. This is the monitor; what do you think? Also, would you recommend getting a keyboard to use instead of the laptop's one? It seems like it would be awkward otherwise. This is the keyboard I'm looking at because it seems to have the low laptop style keys. Would you recommend something different?

  • OWA 2010 calendar is it possible to get the 2003 week view back or customize it?

    - by Scott Szretter
In OWA (Exchange Outlook) 2003 calendar, there was a week view, which was a simple list type view, showing the day, time, and details. In OWA 2010, this is gone and the week view shows a more graphical view with boxes spanning the time slots. It is very difficult to read when you have many appointments. Is there a way to get a list style view, or some way to customize the views in OWA 2010 so I can build one?

  • multilog compatibility wrapper for svlogd?

    - by pilcrow
Has anyone written a compatibility wrapper for svlogd to function as a drop-in replacement for multilog? I'm a fan of UNIX process supervision in the style of daemontools and lately of runit. While runit offers a compatibility mode for many of the daemontools utilities, there is AFAIK no such offering for svlogd. I've got a few systems I'd like to switch over to runit, but I'd rather not modify the .../log/run scripts of every supervised process on those machines. Thanks.

  • Immersed versus 'normal' version of chrome

    - by Nanne
I installed chrome, and now I have 2 ways to open chrome: if I open chrome from the metro-tile menu, I get the full-screen, immersed, windows-8 style chrome. If I start the link I got on my desktop, I get the windowed version. Apart from the fact that I would like to know how I might do that on purpose, I also want to know what's going on so I can use the windowed version (I prefer that for a browser) from all links I have, especially the one in the menu.

  • What does compatibility option "Disable visual themes" do?

    - by user1306322
"Disable desktop composition" flag disables Aero (transparent glass border) effect for the duration of the application's run, which seems like all there is to "visual themes", but toggling the "Disable visual themes" option doesn't seem to do anything. What exactly are these "visual themes"? How does disabling them affect the system? From what I can guess, a "visual theme" is a custom window border style around window content area created using hooks and WDM API calls, though I am prepared to be corrected. I'm talking about the checked option:
